So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

I started yesterday by the way. Managed to run 5 miles and not overindulge. I find it hard to resist chocolate and a glass of wine in the evenings but managed with a few slices of melon instead. Today I need to try and drink more water

Peony58890 · 24/02/2015 08:16

Still waiting for my lift so I can type more. If like to

  • drink more water
  • excersise daily
  • eat less calories/more protein/more veg

Morning all.

I have forgone my usual £2.45 latte and instead have brought an instant coffee in a funny thermos mug whatsit for my commute. So I have started to cut down the vast quantities of milk I normally drink.

By the way using MyFitnessPal for the first time today - can you believe how much salt is in Rice Krispies?! :(

iwashappy · 24/02/2015 08:40

Can I join in as well please, I need motivating!

Could have done with losing a stone before, but have had stressful few months and been comfort eating and it's now about two stone!

Meals are generally not too bad, but am snacking A LOT. Far too much chocolate and unhealthy food in the evenings. Finished the chocolate biscuits at work yesterday and am definitely not buying anymore so hopefully no daytime snacking.

Recently bought an exercise bike but have hardly been on it. If I say on here I am going on it tonight I will have to use it!

I know I can lose the weight I just need to get the will power going to stick to the healthier eating.

Good luck to everyone.

WipsGlitter · 24/02/2015 12:12

Yes. I'm not sure what I did wrong!! It's gone back up to 1200 a day!!

I also didn't get a latte this morning, it says a grande skinny latte is 130 cals.

RunningKatie · 24/02/2015 12:28

I used to love skinny hot chocolates, turns out they won't make me skinny Sad

It is lovely and sunny here, but sooooo cold, may have to have a disco rather than a trip to the park.

Contemplating what we'll have for dinner tonight. I usually eat with the dc's and hate cooking multiple meals so I need to focus on lots of vegetables rather than lots of carbs.

Peony58890 · 24/02/2015 14:40

Lunch was mackerel with tons of salad, avocado and French dressing, nuts, seeds and homous.

DH and the kids have eaten a main meal at work/school today and it's also a very busy night for clubs. Tonight we are having a very simple lentil and carrot soup served with crusty bread, chunks of cheese and piles of salad. I'm trying to do this sort of evening meal twice a week on rushed nights in order to avoid buying oven chips and ready made pizza Grin.

Ellisisland · 24/02/2015 15:20

That sounds nice Peony

Breakfast was porridge with almond milk and a banana
Lunch was leek and potato soup with roll
Snack was a peanut butter sandwich Blush
Dinner will be caramelised red onion, mushroom and avocado Humous grilled wrap.

All takes me to 1300 calories. Have done 2 Davina workouts today as well.

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 16:13

So far I have had: oatso simple, box of raisins, wrap with 2 boiled eggs, one mango and please forgive me.....one kinder egg. Only 111 calories though. Not sure why I ate it though really. Was a bit mindless.

Is what I have eaten today about 860 calories? Am not that good at working it all out so have used MFP, but seems pretty low cos I feel like I have eaten loads somehow.

Sounds about right Runnaway

I feel so lumpy and chubby today Sad. I've been eating healthily for 3 days and want instant results!!! Stupid I know and I should have thought of that when I was pigging out! A note to self for next time maybe??

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 17:03

Know what you mean. I feel so much fatter since I found out exactly what I weighed!!

Thanks for the help with the calorie count. I think maybe eating more filling food is making me feel like I am eating more. I worked from home this aft. Much harder than being away from a fridge!! I will be happy to get back to the restrictions of the working day tomorrow!!

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 17:04

Oh and I can't believe it's only day two!!!

mothersdaughter · 24/02/2015 19:47

That sounds about right to me Runnaway.

I've had lattes both days - counted it in my calories but it does seem wasteful.

Good day - porridge for breakfast and then a prawn noodle salad from Costa for lunch, only 300 cals.

Pasta and meatballs for dinner, am going to have to be really strict on portion control.

Peony58890 · 24/02/2015 20:40

Loving your food choices. Right up my street!

I'm up to 1400 which is a little more then I intended but I scoffed rather a lot of crisps.

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 20:56

We do need a few little treats to keep going or it will be so miserable! So enjoy your lattes and crisps!

Is everyone here calorie counting? Do I need to slope off and find a Weight Watchers team?? You guys seem kinda nice....

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 21:01

Nooooo don't leave!! I just calorie count cos I am too dopey to work out WW points and was too greedy for slimming world. We are all just trying to reach the same place - how you get there doesn't matter!!

OP posts:
DakotaFanny · 24/02/2015 21:07

Phew!

Well in that case I would like to proudly declare that I have been totes angelic today....although also totes depressed when I got on scales and saw that I have put on about half a stone in a week- whhhaaaaaaatttt?!!

Ah well, onwards and upward.

How often do people weigh? i really wonder if I would be more successful if I only weighed once a month. But those scales scream at me every time I walk past the bathroom!! What works for you?

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 21:22

I am not going anywhere near the scales until Monday morning. If I gain I will be thoroughly depressed. If I lose I will become complacent and start to cheat. A once weekly weigh in makes it feel like a 'real' club to me. I want to feel slightly scared before I step on the scales. It is the fear that keeps me going!!!

OP posts:
Runnaway · 24/02/2015 21:24

Ps: congrats on your angelic day!!
I am going to brush my teeth and go to bed. Am hoping a good book will keep me on track!!

OP posts:
DakotaFanny · 24/02/2015 21:25

I agree 100% but even with a week I can feel like that. If I lose a lot, I can get a bit smug and do less well the next week, and if I don't lose enough I go into 'sod it' mode. I wonder whether once a month would keep me going for the development of fear factor to keep me on track.

T'is tricky this weight loss malarkey, isn't it?

Runnaway · 24/02/2015 21:27

Yep, the theory is so simple! The practice is so hard!!

OP posts:
Runnaway · 24/02/2015 21:27

Also, you won't sod it cos you have all of us to keep you going now!
