So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

For the second night running I have not polished off the dc's leftovers - I did eat a stick of broccoli and a pea pod but figured that was ok.

I didn't do the scheduled exercise, it's hard to fit it in with dh being away and all that. I am hoping my motivation will improve as I keep focussed on this.

Sounds like everyone is comfortably determined but also realistic. I dread threads where it gets all competitive and people eat just one lettuce leaf all day.

Anyway, off to listen to Paul McKenna again, I'm not slavishly following it but I am trying to be more mindful.

Peony58890 · 24/02/2015 22:27

Well done Dakota! I don't calorie count but have decided to use it for a few weeks to help me get on the right track.

fibromum · 24/02/2015 23:26

Sounds like everyone is keeping motivated on day 2.

So day two for me. Well calorie count is not that good today was 1424 (aiming for 12,00)

Step count was a bit better at 7,064 (aiming to get up to 10,000).

Really got to work hard at my calorie intake tomorrow but thats my working week over with so will find it easier to eat better with having the time at home to cook rather than relying on easy high carb foods. However the downside to not being at work is my step count will go down Sad

Still onwards and upwards Smile

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 24/02/2015 23:34

Evening all!

I've not done too badly I suppose - I went out for dinner with friends and managed to consume a total of 1480 calories which admittedly is a lot but it's less than normal. I also ate 2 pieces of fruit today (good for me) and drank 1.4litres of water and not one latte passed my lips. So all in all a good day. I'm a tiny bit achy in the lower legs from my nhs couch to 5k run yesterday. Next run is tomorrow!

My scales still haven't arrived. :(

Ellisisland · 25/02/2015 06:56

Everyone is very motivated! Hope we can keep it up Grin

Well I got up early this morning and did a Davina workout - couldn't finish it as baby DS woke up but will try and finish it later and hopefully do another one as well.
Meal plan for today is :-
B: porridge with banana
L: soup and roll
D: lentil sheperdess pie
Snacks will be fruit only today. No more peanut butter sandwiches !

I am using mfp but not totally sticking to the 1200 calories as am breastfeeding so am letting myself go over just as long as it's on fruit and veg and not chocolate !

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 25/02/2015 07:20

Morning all. Can I just clarify 1480 was all day not just dinner with my friends! :) rereading it looks like I ate 1480 in one sitting.

Having breakfast on train this morning. Thermos of instant again. A banana and a handful of nuts. And that is apparently 401 calories. How sad that a banana and a handful of nuts has such a high calorie content. :( I'm hoping it'll keep me going though, I have an apple in my bag for emergencies.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 25/02/2015 12:36

That's my kind of dinner First!!

I'm going to log my weight on Saturday this week as we've got dinner and drinks out Saturday evening and a family birthday party Sunday. I am going to try and stay on track though. I honestly look pretty dreadful at the mo! Am trying to use that to keep motivation.

RunningKatie · 25/02/2015 13:37

I've tried beans on toast for lunch today, previously I've cut right down on bread but am then craving sugary snacks to keep me going through the afternoon. I'll see if something different works better.

Not much exercise here but at softplay I gave ds my biscuit Shock

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 25/02/2015 13:59

I'm on Day 7 of low carbing, and have lost my craving for chocolate Shock. Ketosis kicked in yesterday and i'm feeling great now (yesterday not so much - understatement). A sneak peek on the scales says 7lbs down, about 5 of those went on in half term week though, so they were always going to be easy to come off again.

Just need to work on the reaching for a biscuit or some crisps habit now Blush.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 25/02/2015 14:30

Off to google ketosis.
I have only 600 calories left to consume today and I'm hungry. :(
I want to eat biscuits.

MarbleRunner · 25/02/2015 14:59

I'm doing the 'filling and healthy' weight watchers. I don't know if I'm meant to do it everyday but I am preferring it to counting points.
I bought some trainers today. They are the first pair I've had in about 15 years as I am determined to get moving (hopefully it won't be the only way I lose pounds this week!)
Currently trying to download Couch to 5k to a blackberry with limited success!
This thread is definitely keeping me motivated, so thanks!

mothersdaughter · 25/02/2015 17:20

My willpower is being tested to the limit. Am in BurgerKing with my children after swimming, DH has the flu and do I'm trying to keep them out of the house for a bit.

I cannot begin to tell you how tempted I was to order something for me! But nope! I'm sitting here with nothing and then going to eat when home.

Polishes haloSmile

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 25/02/2015 17:44

Bracing myself for run 2 of week 1 couch to 5k. It's really cold out there, I'm not looking forward at all, and I'm still a bit achy in the lower legs from Monday.

Well done mothers fight that BK urge! Marble I bought new ridiculously colourful Nike ones with pink laces!

DakotaFanny · 25/02/2015 19:05

Good work guys!

I weigh in on Saturdays. Hope that's okay?

Another good day for me, and relatively easy. Woo!

Runnaway · 25/02/2015 19:54

Hello all!
Manic day. Not had tea yet. So far had porridge, banana, carrot soup, muller light and some fresh pineapple chunks. Am almost too tired to bother having tea. Still got the DC swimming stuff to sort and all that other household stuff!! Arrrrggghhh! Some chocolate would be nice right now!!!
Hope you had a good run first! I still have not downloaded!!!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 25/02/2015 20:19

And I'm done.

I ate 1382 calories today, which is still too much according to MyFitnessPal. But I've definitely eaten less in my opinion compared with normal and the only snacks I've had are fruit. So it's all good.

I too will weigh on Saturday assuming my scales have arrived, a weekly weigh in sounds like a good idea. :)

LetMeDriveTheBus · 25/02/2015 20:35

Well done mothers I am sincerely impressed with your willpower!

Just been to clubbercise. It's brilliant fun.....aerobic/dance-type moves with glow sticks!!! I go most weeks but don't am quite inactive otherwise. I need to walk more. I know it doesn't impact much on weight loss but it does make a difference to my motivation levels.

Runnaway · 25/02/2015 21:48

Clubbercise sounds amazing!!

According to MFP I have consumed 1,103 today and the app gave me a ticking off for not eating enough!! Ha ha. It would not have said that last week!!! It doesn't need to worry - am not wasting away!!

Am off to bed now.

Well done all. See you tomorrow!

fibromum · 25/02/2015 23:54

Logging day 3.

Calories 1205 Smile and happy with this.

Steps only 4,331 Sad no where near 10,000 but I have no motivation to go out walking when it's blowing a gale and heavy rain.

Is it really bad to admit I soooo want a McDonalds. I am resisting the urge though but I have a habit of nipping out at lunch time when everyone is at schiol and work, then giding the evidence Shock

Peony58890 · 25/02/2015 23:56

1400 today. Cooked a roast this afternoon which was nice.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 26/02/2015 09:39

I've been brave and taken a couple of "before" photos of myself. Not pleasant to look at Shock but I'm going to hopefully never be this flabby again!

Ellisisland · 26/02/2015 10:17

Well done letme i have done that before and it definitely works as motivation!
Well didn't have a great day yesterday as my DM came round with chocolates but I only had a few and didn't eat them all like I normally would have!
So far today have had porridge and have done a davina 7 minute work out. Was planning on going for a walk later but it's chucking with rain here so not much chance of that.
Planning on having soup for lunch and the rest of the lentil shepherds

Ellisisland · 26/02/2015 10:19

Sorry posted too soon!

Rest of the lentil pie for dinner

Chocolate is my down fall but there is none in the house so hoping I can avoid snacking today

YerTiz · 26/02/2015 13:46

Hello! Please can I join? Have been lurking all week and you've inspired me to get serious about getting fit.

I'd like to lose about a stone, currently 10st 2. But more than that I want to feel fit and healthy, so I'm hoping lifestyle changes will help rather than dieting.

That said, I've been strict about logging what I eat on mfp today and it's always a kick up the bum! I'll struggle to come under today I think.

BUT I've done the nursery run (20 min walk) x2 and 30 day shred today.

Thanks for the inspiration Flowers hopefully I'll keep up with the thread, I struggle when they move quickly!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 26/02/2015 14:12

I'm getting a it annoyed. Does anyone if MyFitnessPal is accurate re calories. I've had an M&S melon medley salad, a banana, a handful of nuts and a BLT sandwich (my only guilty pleasure) all day and I've only got 393 calories left for the whole day! Hmm. I'm hungry! It's not fair!!! :(

I dread to think how many calories I used to eat. I reckon it must have been about 3000! (double what I'm allowed now), yet I'm not massive - I'm a size 14 heavier than I want to be, but not massive.

This is hard :( - and it's only Thursday!
