Need to lose weight before ttc no2!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/01/2015 00:56

I thought I'd start a thread as it's likely there are others in the same position.

Gave one DD who is 2.3. Would like to have another child at some point in the non too distant future but firstly I really need to lose weight, as

  1. I'm far too heavy at the moment and my knees and feet have started to ache with the strain etc. I really don't think I'd cope physically being pregnant at this size
  2. I have PCOS and the erratic periods that go with it. Weight loss supposedly helps with this (no personal experience to date) My plan at the moment is to be sensible - more home cooked meals with plenty of fruit and veg, and less processed crap! I really don't eat well, especially lately (I work evening shifts, and we moved house 3 weeks ago - I h Ave been grabbing what i can, when I can!)

I shall technically be starting on Monday, as I will be spending some of this weekend meal planning. But as of first thing in the morning I shall be starting on 3 meals a day instead of constant grazing!

-15lbs kin total!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 01/02/2015 09:28

Hey, back again.
2lbs off so back in the game. Grin
Well done takestwo, I will try and catch up:
Been forcing myself to go out for a walk with ds, even made a fleecy cover for his pushchair as I've still not finished the cosy toes I was making. I'm making some fleecy hand warmers for the handles as I really hate wearing gloves.
So move more, eat less does work.
Is it wrong when splitting meals, I do mine and ds's first then if it's loads left I just dump it all on dhs plate? So I don't eat it? Wink

TakesTwoToTango · 01/02/2015 11:00

Ha ha! Your dh's weight will go up as yours goes down Grin. Well done on the 2lb loss!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/02/2015 09:41

Just a quick check in. Will catch up later.
Another 1lb loss. So 4lb loss in 4 weeks. I need to get my act together to catch you up takes two!

just want to say good luck to you all, it can be done - I lost 2 sts in 3 months with Weight Watchers in Spring/Summer of 2011 for the same reason and only stopped because I found out I was pg in August.

just one word of advice - drink lots of water.
it will re-hydrate your body, fill you up and make you feel less hungry - very useful tool to chase away those cravings.

good luck
Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 02/02/2015 10:37

Thanks for the encouragement zing congratulations on your weightloss and your pregnancy! Flowers

TakesTwoToTango · 02/02/2015 10:38

cold whoop! Well done, that's a good steady loss. I'm only trying to fast track it due to other personal reasons for wanting to time the hopeful next pg ASAP!

ZingTheGreat · 02/02/2015 12:34

oh I'm not pg now!Grin

Sorry for phrasing it badly, I meant I got pg that August in 2011 with DD. she'll be 3 this April!Smile

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 02/02/2015 15:28

I just ate a brownie...that I shared with ds, I'm going to have to walk him up to the loch now to run around and feed ducks aren't i. Grrrrr

TakesTwoToTango · 02/02/2015 15:53

Yellow half a brownie = walk halfway to the loch Wink Grin

Zing yes, of course! I can see that re-reading it now. The perils of posting while on the daily commute. Sorry about the misunderstanding!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 02/02/2015 19:26

Walked up to the loch it's only 10 mins walk from my house Blush and fed the massive swans. Was actually really nice, will be doing it more often now I've done it once, it's been too cold until now, well it's still cold but worth the walk now. Also you walk fast as it's freezing.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 03/02/2015 00:21

thanks for the words of encouragement zing Smile

fantastic weight loss so far takestwo - well done! And well done to yellow for walking up to the loch!!!

I have eaten a bit of crap today but I am not going to beat myself up. I am still having period pain and the associated mood swings - I figure seen as this is the first period I have had in more than 3 years I can indulge slightly! It's not like its once a month or so! lol

Following my stomach bug last week I seem to be going off sparkling/fizzy drinks. I had been filling up with pepsi max / flavoured sparkling water, but I don't really want it now. Will down lots of squash before work tomorrow and see if thats better. Too much fizz is making me feel slightly queasy.

Going to bed shortly. I need to do some serious banking/calculations later on in the week. Credit card has taken a battering since we moved (have spent a fortune in Ikea, Homebase and B&Q!!). Need to clear that asap, and then start to build up some savings for when I am on maternity leave again!

Grin Yey for your new swan-based fitness regimeyellow

cold hope horrid AF is over soon. I always find hot crumpets ease the cramps Smile or malt loaf. That's not supposed to be too bad for dieting I think?

I'm with you on the drinking to feel full. Tea isn't poison!

Had a bfn this morning (AF due thurs) so an drowning my sorrows in a large cuppa. On the bright side, another month to get my weight down and my body healthy for a future bean. Sad

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 03/02/2015 10:24

It is just so strange to have this back ache after all this time - last time I hurt in this part of my back I was in labour!
Having a lazy late breakfast at the moment before returning upstairs to do some more unpacking. Will be filling up with tea and no added sugar squash today.

oh try not to get too obsessed with taking tests etc takestwo - esp before AF is due!! I know its easier said than done, but you have only just started trying. If you take a test every couple of weeks you will drive yourself crazy!! At least wait for symptoms/AF to be late before taking a test!!

OP posts:
TakesTwoToTango · 03/02/2015 13:06

cold I would have waited but I was due to have a boozy night out tonight so I tested in case! however, as luck would have it! my night has been cancelled just after I took the test!

Good luck with the unpacking.

(Ps my previous post meant to say tea is my poison)

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 03/02/2015 15:22

Well took ds swimming this morning for the first time, with my "I don't care, if you are looking at me all fat" attitude. Would still want to look better but ds had the most fun ever! Surely it did me good as well, so going to try it a thing now. Dh was there so managed 6 lengths very slowly but still did it.
Good luck on the un packing, I'm ignoring my spare room full of boxes just now and crafting some cosy hand covers for my pushchair as I hate gloves.

TakesTwoToTango · 03/02/2015 15:33

Wow yellow! You're on a roll!!! My dcs love swimming too Grin and once I'm in the water, no one can see my lumps and bumps. I find even if I'm just walking around in the water towing the little ones it's quite good exercise.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 03/02/2015 18:03

Thanks takestwo,
I will see how long I can keep going with all the changes, I've been stuck in a rut for a while, i started to get really bad anxiety when doing things as I was so used to sitting in the house all the time in agony, so I'm pushing past it.
Well I'm trying really hard and feeling better for it.
So hopefully it pays off for weight loss as well.
I have however been less than careful on the contraception front this month. Blush
So will see what happens

TakesTwoToTango · 03/02/2015 21:52

Ha ha yellow I'm glad it's not just me! good luck for your tww. And baby steps with the exercise. I hope you will feel so much better for it eventually.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 03/02/2015 22:02

Well not feeling upduffed,lol
which is good and bad, good that I have more time to loose more weight but bad as it will annoy me. Thou it took 3 weeks before we got a bfp with ds, even thou I knew I was.
But I must have ovulated later than I expected that month with wedding stress so meant ds was conceived actually in wedlock. Lol

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 03/02/2015 22:23

Glad you had a good day swimming yellow.

It took me a while to get BFP with DD too. I started having symptoms on 13th jan but it was another 8 days and a couple of BFN's before we got the BFP. And I'd even seen a GP who swore blind there was no way I was pregnant (stupid cow) - it obviously takes a while for the right level of hormones to reach your pee!!

I am royally miffed. Saw DH for literally 2 mins before I went to work earlier - I was standing at the door waiting for him to get in before I could leave. Then I get home just gone 9:30 and he is already getting into bed!! Feels like we never see each other anymore. It's just 2 mins here and there in the week Sad
Going to make a cup of tea and get back to my unpacking seen as the rest of the house is asleep......

OP posts:
yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 03/02/2015 22:38

I know how you feel cold, it used to be like that with dh when I worked shifts before ds,some weeks we would be living in the same house and never see each other at all.

But sometimes now he barely sees ds if he's backshift or nightshift due to sleeping and ds having a nap when he gets up and goes to work.
I'm convinced he's never on dayshift when I'm ovulating. So will probably be more difficult this time when we are ttc properly.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/02/2015 01:46

that's one good thing I suppose - with our current arrangements dh does get to spend a few hours every day with dd. We both do. We just don't get to see each other! I'll keep my fingers crossed for Sunday ovulation when I do come off the pill!

Have spent a few more hours sorting the spare room this evening, with Stephen Fry to keep me company (hharry potter audio books). have found some things I've been looking for for ages!
Tomorrow's mission is to reorganise the kitchen!

OP posts:
yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 04/02/2015 12:26

Well done on spare room sorting cold, Grin
I'm doing more craft room sorting today, only because I want my table cleared to use my sewing machine.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/02/2015 14:00

do you have a craft room in addition to a spare room?
