Need to lose weight before ttc no2!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/01/2015 00:56

I thought I'd start a thread as it's likely there are others in the same position.

Gave one DD who is 2.3. Would like to have another child at some point in the non too distant future but firstly I really need to lose weight, as

  1. I'm far too heavy at the moment and my knees and feet have started to ache with the strain etc. I really don't think I'd cope physically being pregnant at this size
  2. I have PCOS and the erratic periods that go with it. Weight loss supposedly helps with this (no personal experience to date) My plan at the moment is to be sensible - more home cooked meals with plenty of fruit and veg, and less processed crap! I really don't eat well, especially lately (I work evening shifts, and we moved house 3 weeks ago - I h Ave been grabbing what i can, when I can!)

I shall technically be starting on Monday, as I will be spending some of this weekend meal planning. But as of first thing in the morning I shall be starting on 3 meals a day instead of constant grazing!

Yes, craft room is a small single room at the front of the house, spare room, which will hopefully be filled with another dc is at the back next to ds's room, so difficult to reorganise when he sleeping as it has wooden floors so noisy when dropping things.

TakesTwoToTango · 04/02/2015 16:13

Gah! Have woken up this morning with a swollen, stiff knee Sad no exercise for me for a few days at the very least! It was all going so well. am now having to fight the urge to throw in the towel on the healthy eating a gorge myself to feel better. I guess it doesn't help that AF is due tomorrow so I'm a bit emotional!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/02/2015 22:14

I am so jealous yellow - I would really love to have another room that I could use as a study. I currently have files/stationery etc in the spare room, but like you, I plan for this to be a bedroom for future DC. So will need to find somewhere else to put all this stuff at some point. We do want to extend, but I have no clue when we will be able to afford to do that. Probably not for at least 5 years. Before that I suppose we would have to buy a shed - but then it would actually just be storage - wouldn't be very warm and cosy for me to curl up at my desk and write! lol

hope you rest your knee properly takestwo. Do you like to take baths / read? I try to treat myself to me time like a long bath or curling up with a good book when I feel like crap. If I am doing either of those things I am much less likely to eat than if I am sat watching tele. Plus the hot water might help to soothe your knee.

Get in at 9:30pm, and yet again DH is already falling asleep. He has left dishes over the side rather than loading them in the dishwasher, and the sofa is covered in toys. I am getting really pissed off with him. We never get to see other, and I seem to spend far too much time clearing up shit that he could do.

What a nightmare cold! Especially after coming in from work. Does your dh get up really early for work?
Just wondered why he goes to bed so early.
I just accept that if ever dh has ds by himself if I go out I come home to a mess but I have probably been out maybe about 4/5 times only for a few hours, I generally just do stuff with ds with me.
This week dh is backshift this week so doesn't get in till midnightish but doesn't leave until 2ish, but I still couldn't get a shower without a little person standing outside the glass waiting on me coming out.

Regards to the craft room, we were originally only going to get a 3 bed house but this one dropped the price just after we sold our flat, so pure luck.
It's a brilliant house, I love it. in the sticks, right beside a loch and nature park but ds will still be able to walk to both primary and high school. And only 5 mins drive to the motorway or there is a bus stop outside my front door.
That's the joy of Scotland. Grin

Been a bit up and down food wise, still trying to make good choices but the boredom still gets me now and again.
Will see when I weigh in at the weekend, let's hope my walking and swimming has helped.
Good luck to all and hope takestwo's knee gets better

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/02/2015 22:47

he gets up about 5/5:30 for work at the moment. its not the earliest that he has had to get up.
DH has always loved his sleep. If he had the chance he would probably sleep for 12hrs a day, which is just not normal!! I swear that there is something medically wrong with him - I only sleep for that long if I have got the flu etc!
I don't expect him to do tons while I am at work. No cleaning etc, but I do expect him to do what is necessary with DD and tidy up after himself!

Oh that was a stroke of luck! I'm in the south east of england and we've gone to the top of our budget to buy this house! Would have needed another £40-50k to get a 4th bedroom. It is big enough for our current needs really, I just need to organise the storage better. We have no hallway cupboards upstairs or downstairs either, so no-where else to hide household files, or towels and toiletries. Just one understairs cupboard in the kitchen that we keep the mop etc in.
Your house does sound like its in a lovely location yellow - we're in a little village too, but we don't have a loch or a nature park! There are a few farms around though and we're near to a marina - will explore with DD when the weather warms up.

Boredom is a nightmare. I have really started to restrict what I take to work as I will eat whatever is in my bag, hungry or not. Got to stop buying rubbish in the first place!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 05/02/2015 11:55

I used to get up at the time for work it is hard going, dh could sleep for 12hrs if I let him as well. I've not done that unless I was really ill or when I was a teenager.
When he's on nightshift dh gets 7 or 8 hrs sleep then I send ds in to jump on him.
But if I left him, I bet he would sleep for far longer.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/02/2015 13:14

I admit I wouldn't want to get up at 5:30 for work myself, but I wouldn't then do an 8hr shift then sit on the sofa for the rest of the day. Like I said, I don't expect him to do much of an evening, but to at least keep things tidy, scrap plates into bin and load in dishwasher etc.
I think he needs to improve his diet as well - he eats a lot of crap. I left a lunchbox out for him last night with a banana and 2 clementines in - he added 2 small pork pies this morning. Guess what he has eaten so far?

I researched some smoothie recipes last night. I have found a banana and oat smoothie that I will try out - he can easily drink that while driving and its got more nutrients than the processed crap he keeps eating.
Think I'll make one for myself for my saturday morning shift.

I don't understand how some people can sleep for so long. On Sunday (the one morning we are all home!) I normally wake up first. If DD is still asleep I will read quietly in bed, but once she is awake, that's it, we're waking him up too (it's normally about 9am by then anyway!!)

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 05/02/2015 17:52

I weighed in the morning and had lost 3lbs but then have had a really bad food day.
I had a banana for breakfast
Small bowl of cheesy pasta for lunch with 2 sausages
I've just made carrot and sultana cakes with ds
And tried one Shock
Then made a pizza for me and ds with some leftover roast chicken, peppers and mushrooms, with a pesto and tomato sauce.
Only good thing was I've stopped when I was full so only ate 2 slices of pizza

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 05/02/2015 17:58

I went for a walk earlier, but dh like to stroll not power walk like I normally do so probably didn't help. Hmm

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/02/2015 21:51

your bad food day isn't as bad as mine lol. I have had:

  • lindor chocolate ball
  • small pork pie
  • 10 jaffa cakes
  • caramel wafer
  • dinner was breaded cod, with homemade chips (done in actifry with frylight)
This is what happens when I have a few late nights in a row! Ooh dear

I have done quite a lot of housework today and have just cleared the ironing. Will empty the kitchen bin in a moment, and will do nothing else for the evening except have a nice shower!

At least you still went out for a walk yellow - better to do a little something every day than nothing at all (as I have done today - housework doesn't really count as I wasn't doing anything vigorously enough!)

OP posts:
yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 05/02/2015 22:23

Oh dear cold Sad you have made me slightly betterSmile
Yum caramel wafer Grin
but better if it was a dark chocolate one. Not bought them for ages as I would just guts them.
I'm going to tidy up after Brooklyn99 as the kitchen is horrendous and has icing smeared all over my breakfast bar from ds's cake decorating.

Tomorrow is a new day thou, Wink

TakesTwoToTango · 05/02/2015 23:37

Bad bad food day here too. Compounded by not being able to walk with swollen knee Sad Hey, go. Tomorrow is another day!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/02/2015 23:48

Glad to be of service yellow! Lol
I found a pack of 8 tunnocks caramel wafers in aldi the other day and couldn't resist! Oops!

Have just had the most glorious shower! Well and truly scrubbed and exfoliated. Hair washed twice. Just used expensive face cream dh bought me for Christmas. I feel so refreshed!!

Have you taken anything goes for your knee takes two?

No, not yet. It's not painful so paracetamol wouldn't help and I'd take ibuprofen for the swelling but AF is late and although I'm testing categorically bfn, I feel a bit reticent to take it I
Until the fat lady sings iyswim!

Pampering shower sound good cold might treat myself tomorrow. We're off out tonight so no time to do it today.

How are you getting on today yellow?

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 06/02/2015 20:36

Not bad today food wise, Grin just been doing loads of housework. And testing ds's new cloth nappies so didn't want to leave the house.
Been using ds as a weight today lol
Lots of bench pressing and throwing him in the air. That's my exercise for the day

And he can count to 3!!! before you throw him in the air. I'm so proud, my mum was round so have proof now as I thought he was saying it before but nobody else was there to hear it.

TakesTwoToTango · 07/02/2015 21:41

Aw yellow that sounds very cute Grin

Terrible fall off the wagon day here. But AF is just about to kick off fully so hopefully tomorrow or mon I'll be a bit less pms-y and back on the wagon!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 07/02/2015 23:30

Takestwo, I think it's far harder for woman to loose weight than men with all these random hormone changes throughout the month.
I may be wrong, just my thoughts on it.

semi good food day here, no exercise here apart thou from lugging boxes from my mums house to the car and then into the garage. So that's her dining room clear now,
just the Inlaws attic to empty of outgrown baby stuff I'm keeping for dc2 and random stuff we had no space for when I sold my flat and moved in with dh.

I have to have a clear out otherwise my attic is going to be filled very quickly.

I am such a hoarder

Least I have clothes to shrink into. Wink

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 08/02/2015 00:06

I don't know the exact scientific reason, but men do seem to lose weight easier than women. The obvious answer is its due to differences I hormones.

I have thrown some stuff out in the course of moving but still need to go through so much stuff. A lot of stuff has gone straight up in the loft so once we're more organised in the house I need to go up there and organise it all. I too have quite a lot of smaller clothes to fit into yellow!! I want to go through them all and bag them into different sizes so I can easily get one bag down from the loft at a time.

Bad day again. I don't think I have felt full all day. There seems to be no off switch. I have eaten plenty but just not felt full/sstuffed!! My weetabix definitely didn't fuel my day!!
I think I need a good appetite suppressant lol.

I need a new plan......

TakesTwoToTango · 08/02/2015 08:30

Y scales are saying I've put three lbs on in the last two days Shock am hoping that's a false impression of the actual situation, but hey oh, onwards and downwards (hopefully)!

MarkingMyPlace9 · 08/02/2015 09:10

Hi all! Congrats on all the Weight Loss! Reading this Thread has made me feel so much better that there are actual people out that that struggle after having DC and actually put on more once having them, rather than shrinking like 'Celebs'! My DS is 18 Months old. I put on 5 Stone with Him, and have lost and gained so much since then. Managed to loose around 2 Stone before Christmas, but have recently put back on 1/2 Stone Angry So I'm starting again tomorrow! We are now ttc no 2, and I have a Week away with the MIL and FIL over May 1/2 Term where Hot Tubs and Swimming Pools are included, so need to deff loose some before then!! Nice to meet you all Smile xxx

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 08/02/2015 10:42

Hi marking!
Come join the madness. Smile
Oh dear takes two, I was really annoyed at myself when I did the same as I'm only 2lb lighter than I was at the start due to putting on again.
Doing skinny lasagne for tea tonight and soup or salad for lunch.
Had low fat curry last night and forgot about lunch for ages as I was busy, but then eventually had a ham salad wrap.
Started the day with a bowl of Cheerios and a banana so will see how long that lasts, need to keep up my water drinking as that definitely makes a difference.

Me and dh are bickering this morning and he's now fallen asleep on the couch and I want to go in the shower,Confused think a walk round the loch before lunch will be good for all of us.

MarkingMyPlace9 · 08/02/2015 13:23

Thanks Yellow!
It's so annoying isn't it? I actually lost a lot after I gave Birth, had only a Stone and 1/2 to loose till I got back to pre preggers Weight. But I just put it all back on again!!
Skinny Lasagne sounds good, I love Pasta, we do just have Brown Pasta in this House now, every little helps!!
Hope you got out for your Walk ok? Bickering deff doesn't help though, makes you wanna turn back to the Biscuits! My DH is generally only Home during the Day on a Sunday, and I find that is the worst for Bickering and junk Food!
Hope everyone is having a good Day xxx

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 08/02/2015 13:59

The skinny lasagne is the hairy bikers one made with leeks. It lovely.
We got out, walked up to the loch, fed the swans and went to the park, so good walk. Ds was filthy after falling head first in the sand so was stripped of his waterproof suit and shoved in his cosy toes.
Managed to fall out slightly with dh on the way back to the house unfortunately, but have made up now.

TakesTwoToTango · 08/02/2015 14:54

Oh dear yellow glad you've made up now. Well done on the walk. Still hobbling here so no exercise for me. AF in full flow but at least I know in two days things will be looking better again. Onwards to the next cycle Smile
