Need to lose weight before ttc no2!

I thought I'd start a thread as it's likely there are others in the same position.

Gave one DD who is 2.3. Would like to have another child at some point in the non too distant future but firstly I really need to lose weight, as

  1. I'm far too heavy at the moment and my knees and feet have started to ache with the strain etc. I really don't think I'd cope physically being pregnant at this size
  2. I have PCOS and the erratic periods that go with it. Weight loss supposedly helps with this (no personal experience to date) My plan at the moment is to be sensible - more home cooked meals with plenty of fruit and veg, and less processed crap! I really don't eat well, especially lately (I work evening shifts, and we moved house 3 weeks ago - I h Ave been grabbing what i can, when I can!)

I shall technically be starting on Monday, as I will be spending some of this weekend meal planning. But as of first thing in the morning I shall be starting on 3 meals a day instead of constant grazing!

Gah yellow how frustrating! I'm sorry you're disappointed.

Hotel cooking going ok marking I made mustard chicken with rice and sugar snap peas yesterday. Delicious and great for the nausea but not great for the waistline as made with creme fraiche. Never mind! Yes it's the four of us, but we have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a little open plan sitting room/kitchenette so it's not too bad. No dining table though which is proving a bit tricky with the kids!

TakesTwoToTango · 07/04/2015 16:44

Did I kill the thread??

MarkingMyPlace9 · 07/04/2015 17:21

Lol, I actually think Easter killed the Thread! I was meant to be back on track today, but have too much Chocolate left in the House to even attempt it!
How you feeling now TakesTwo?

TakesTwoToTango · 07/04/2015 18:20

Hi marking! Hope you had a good Easter? Was nice here. No bank holidays though so just the two days as a family. Food not going well here, just eating what will not make me feel more nauseous! Still don't know if things are progressing as they should but hopefully will find out in a week or so (system for getting appointments and scans is v complicated!)

MarkingMyPlace9 · 07/04/2015 20:37

Yes Easter was lovely thanks, DH had all 4 Days off which was lovely. Did you all have a good one? Wow, no Bank Holidays? Where have you gone to again? Don't beat yourself up, you've gotta eat what you can to help with the Morning Sickness, is it really bad? My never stayed just in the Mornings Confused Sounds annoying about the Scan, how far along are you now? Are you Guys still in the Hotel Room?

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 08/04/2015 23:26

Just a quick message to say I am still here!! Doing really badly though. Got hooked on junk food again and eating really badly. Just don't know how to get out of this cycle!!

OP posts:
thelionsleeps · 09/04/2015 08:24

I'm still here too although seriously derailed by going away for easter and far far too much booze! You guys keep falling off threads I'm on too for some reason?

Well back on clean eating from today. 2 weeks to holiday and feel so bloated from all the bread and wine I have been having. I started off well requesting salad instead of chips but then seem to slide. I seriously can't come back from holiday feeling like this.

So lots of veg, salad, fish and meat and no booze for 2 weeks. I know I will feel so much better after a few days when my sugar cravings have gone. Doing a parkrun this week which I fear will be hell.

Keep going guys!

thelionsleeps · 09/04/2015 08:30

Typed a big long message and then lost it!!! Gah and this thread keeps going missing from threads I'm on.

Did really bad over Easter as we were away - far too much booze basically. Started off well asking for salad instead of chips but was eating anything by the end!

2 weeks to holiday so going to clean eat so just salad, veg, fish and meat and nooooooo booze. Can't come back from holiday feeling this bad.

Got a parkrun on Saturday which will be hell as I feel so bloated.

Keep going guys. We can do it. Period due tomorrow so trying not to test too early.

thelionsleeps · 09/04/2015 08:31

Great 2 posts now!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 09/04/2015 08:46

Lol lion!!
I too need to battle a sugar addiction. I have a headache just thinking about not eating sugar today!!

OP posts:
thelionsleeps · 09/04/2015 08:57

It is hard isn't it coldfeet? I tried to start yesterday and I won't tell you what I ended up eating but it wasn't pretty!

We can do it - first few days are always the worst!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 09/04/2015 09:29

I ate far too much sugar yesterday. I feel quite sick this morning........

OP posts:
thelionsleeps · 09/04/2015 10:35

Try the harcombe diet coldfeet. It is fab. You start with a 5 day phase 1 of just eating proper food so lots of veg salad meat butter eggs. No bread or dairy. Can be hard the first few days as your body cries out for sugar but by day 5 you feel great.

It is not a low carb way of eating if you love your carbs and concentrates on no processed food and no sugar. I always feel so good when I eat this way and feel so crap when I'm back on the sugar! We can do it!

MarkingMyPlace9 · 09/04/2015 20:37

Hey all. Urgh, I feel your pain Guys, I have been awful this Week. I am due on tomorrow, so writing this Week off, and, aslong as I come on, I'll start afresh Monday (The Chocolate will be gone by then Grin lol)
It is a bad cycle isn't it ColdFeet!!
I tried Googling the Harcombe Diet Lion But couldn't really figure it out? Maybe I'm just being a bit dense?? I tried a Military 3 Day Diet a while back, which I didn't mind, and followed to a T. But instead of loosing my promised 10 lbs, I only lost 3, and DH put on 1 lb!!!

TakesTwoToTango · 10/04/2015 18:43

Gah! The sugar is calling me too! Lindor chocs Sad

Yep still in the hotel - house hunting not been wildly successful - yet!

MarkingMyPlace9 · 11/04/2015 18:42

Ok. Need help Guys. This look like 2, or 1 Line to you?

Need to lose weight before ttc no2!
MarkingMyPlace9 · 11/04/2015 18:51

I only ask as when I first took it, earlier this Morning, just the 1 Line came up, but then something made me check it like 8 Hours later, and there was the other line! Weird x

TakesTwoToTango · 11/04/2015 21:50

Marking, there's definitely two lines there but I'm not sure if it's a positive result... Firstly, I don't think you can totally trust any result that didn't appear in he time frame specified by the test (usually a few minutes I think - def not 8 hrs). Also, the second line looks to be in a funny place. What kind of test is is? Is a positive result meant to be two vertical lines or one vertical, one horizontal (a cross)?

Have you got another test you can do first thing tomorrow morning?! I'll be waiting with fingers and toes crossed for you!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 11/04/2015 21:57

I would definitely do another test tomorrow marking. I would say that is only one line if the second faint one showed up several hours later. If i remember correctly (been 3 years!!!) a second line showing up later on ccan just be ink running from first line. Same as if you hold it in the pee for too long.

Do you have any symptoms marking? Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I love lindor takestwo. i ate a box of the strawberry and white chocolate ones last weekend! Yummy!!

I am seriously contemplating going on a vlcd. 1) because its fast weight loss, 2) it requires very little thought or prep time and 3) there have been several studies that show recently diagnosed diabetics (type 2) who went on a vlcd for 8 weeks (maybe up to 12) were able to reverse their diabetes! Now im not diabetic, but i have pcos and have issues with insulin. Apparently people on vlcd lose the fat from around their liver first, meaning it can process insulin properly. By week 8 some fat from around the pancreas has been burnt off, meaning it can now make the insulin better than it could before. So after 8 weeks not only do patients lose a good amount of weight, they've lost some of the bad visceral fat, and their bodies are working better.
i am going to do some more reading but i think its a definite possibility for me. If my insulin levels are better than my ovulation should be more regular.

TakesTwoToTango · 11/04/2015 22:12

I'm not sure what vlcd is cold (very low calorie diet?). Your examples of the benefits certainly sound positive. See what you think after your research.

(I've found caramel ones here - not helping me stay off them!).

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 11/04/2015 22:51

Yes a very low calorie diet, like cambridge diet, lighter life etc.
i am continuing toresearch.i might try a shake or two this week (i have some protein powder so will use that instead of slimfast that is full of sugar) - time how long it keeps me satisfied for etc. I have just read that visceral fat (the stuff wrapped around your organs) is the first to be burned off whichever way you lose weight, but that was a general website rather than a published clinical trial.
Will continue reading for another week instead of jumping into a 600 calorie diet on monday. I have tried 5:2 before and that really doesnt work for me - i end up bingeing!!!

Takestwo there is a lindt shop in a shopping outlet about a 45min drive from me. It is a good thing its not closer as its like my idea of heaven!!! The only flavour we cant seem to get in there are the peanut butter ones. They used to have them in the assorted box several years ago. Dh is most upset that they dont seem to make them anymore! Im gonna have to make him some peanut butter truffles for his birthday

Thanks TakesTwo and ColdFeet Yes your right. I may go and get some more today to test, so will let you know. But I may wait till the end of next Week, as when I was preggers with DS, I took a Test at 4 Weeks when I missed a Period (This time I'm now 3 Days late which is unheard of) and it was BFN, which is why, when I started feeling sick a Week later, I didn't believe anyone who thought I was preggers! Then I got a BFP at 6 Weeks, so I'm pretty sure this is happening again, as I am NEVER late! Thanks Guys, I'll keep you updated! It's a Asda own one TakesTwo and the really clear line, on the right hand side is to show that the Test worked, and the very faint one on the left hand side is to show that your Preggers - Which wasn't there earlier. Yes I did read that elsewhere ColdFeet So I will deff be doing another one! Only symptom is late Period, but with DS, I had no symptoms till sickness at 5 Weeks - I'm so looking forward to next Week if that is the case lol.
Lindt Chocolate is the special Chocolate I get for Valentines Day, Mothers Day ect. My very fave Chocolate! Very glad I don't live near a Shop/Cafe as I would frequent it far too much!!
Wow ColdFeet Sounds like you have done some serious research on this! What kind of things would you be eating on it? Or would it be all Shakes? I feel the same about the 5:2 Diet, I havn't tried it, but feel that on my 'off' Days, I would eat enough Calories to make up for the other Days lol!

TakesTwoToTango · 12/04/2015 14:35

Fingers crossed for you marking!! Very exciting!!

Cold, I'm the kind of person who likes to have a structure to follow so I get why vlcd might be a good diet, see where your research takes you.
