Need to lose weight before ttc no2!

I thought I'd start a thread as it's likely there are others in the same position.

Gave one DD who is 2.3. Would like to have another child at some point in the non too distant future but firstly I really need to lose weight, as

  1. I'm far too heavy at the moment and my knees and feet have started to ache with the strain etc. I really don't think I'd cope physically being pregnant at this size
  2. I have PCOS and the erratic periods that go with it. Weight loss supposedly helps with this (no personal experience to date) My plan at the moment is to be sensible - more home cooked meals with plenty of fruit and veg, and less processed crap! I really don't eat well, especially lately (I work evening shifts, and we moved house 3 weeks ago - I h Ave been grabbing what i can, when I can!)

I shall technically be starting on Monday, as I will be spending some of this weekend meal planning. But as of first thing in the morning I shall be starting on 3 meals a day instead of constant grazing!

Hi all! Been having a bad couple of Weeks, hence the lack of Posts!
We have been busy what with Nights away, and friends and family being off over half Term, and then I have been struck down by Flu the last couple of Days. And I also came on!! Sad So lots of Junk/Comfort Food has been consumed.
Next Monday is a new start (Hopefully, I did say that last Week for this Monday, but that's gone out the Window due to need of Ice Cream and Yoghurts!)
I have noticed that I'm deff lacking energy atm (Could be due to getting over the Flu, but I also know it's to do with me filling myself with crap)
Birding - How do you find Slimming World? I have never tried Slimming World, always been a Weight Watchers Girl myself. Just wondered what the difference was?
How's your Knee feeling Tango?
I have not weighted myself for nearly 2 Weeks, too scared too now! Will do it next Week when I will have been good for a couple of Days (Hopefully!)
How is everyone else getting on atm? Flowers

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 24/02/2015 14:19

Weighed myself today, same weight so not put anything on luckily. Need to motivate myself into doing more exercise.
And not stuffing crap in my face. Blush

MarkingMyPlace9 · 24/02/2015 21:55

Well done Yellow Flowers
Shows your not eating crap, even though your not actively trying to eat healthy [applause]

BirdingWidow · 24/02/2015 22:51

Marking, I've never done WW. The only time I've ever done an organised diet before is a bit of Rosemary Conley over 20 yrs ago! I did try 5:2 last year but eating after fasting seemed to really upset my stomach so that was short-lived. Usually on a diet I just cut the crap out and it works. This is the first time I have done one with rules. I do quite like it, in that there is lots of unlimited stuff, including rice and pasta, so I'm not forever weighing stuff. However: 1. I have yet to see whether I can give into my huge rice / pasta appetite and actually lose weight and 2. Snacks like chocolate, crisps are very limited, as is booze.

So it's okay for me now as I have no social life, would otherwise be more tricky. My sisters are doing very well on it though, which is also inspiring!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 27/02/2015 09:59

I am struggling lately. Seem to be constantly hungry :-(

MarkingMyPlace9 · 28/02/2015 07:02

ColdFeet I know what you mean, it's a pain isn't it. I've been so hungry this past 2 Weeks, and we have had SO much crap food and Takeaways Blush Monday is a new Week! Hope everyone is well and having a good Weekend xx

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/03/2015 10:14

marking I'm sure that processed food and takeaways don't really fill you up / satisfy you, hence feeling constantly hungry! I'm trying to stick to as much proper food as possible!

Right, my head is back in the game! I weighed in this morning at 15st 13, which is 58% fat!! Want to see a reduction in one of those numbers this time next week!!

Morning all Smile
Yes ColdFeet I know your right, but at the time there yummy Grin
I'm starting afresh today, wearing Jeans that I'm surprised did up as there so tight! They wern't this tight 2 Weeks ago! So that's my motovation today. I weighed myself over the Weekend at BIL's and they have the twirly Scales (The ones where the dial goes round, like a Clock I suppose) I have Electronic ones, and I was 1/2 a Stone Lighter on their Scales! Has anyone else had this? And how do I check that my Scales are weighing correctly!?
How do you find out your Fat Ratio ColdFeet?

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/03/2015 23:17

My scales told me marking. I have body fat analysing scales. Put in some details like gender and weight (tthis is stored) and when you jump on the scales it tells you your weight, body fat %, bmi and percentage of water too. Don't know how accurate the body fat and water is though....They are weight watcher scales I bought from argos

Well done for getting back in the game cold!

I know what you all mean by struggling atm. I've been terrible the last few weeks. Totally regressed to craving (and eating) junk. 6 or 7lbs I'd lost have gone back on leaving me -8lbs. I'm determined I'm going to turn it around.

Thank you whoever asked about my knee (marking?) it is much better but I have not got back on the exercise again yet. I lost all motivation when it took more than two weeks to recover.

How is the slimming world going?

Ps I got a bfp thing morning Shock Shock

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 09:35

this morning

MarkingMyPlace9 · 03/03/2015 09:47

Wow ColdFeet those are some fancy Scales!!
Glad to hear your Knee is starting to feel better now Tango I am a bit new to all of this so what does 'BFP' mean please?
I weighed myself this Morning and I have set myself a Goal of loosing 13 lbs by Easter (About 5 Weeks) That will actually mean I have lost the extra weight I put on, and then it's just the Baby weight I will be left with then. Which, I think, will make me feel better as that wasn't my fault that DS made me feel so ill for 8 Months that I gorged on Chips and Crisps Grin

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 09:55

marking bfp stands for "big fat positive" ie a positive pregnancy test. Although in my case today it's more of a very faint, very early, positive Wink

Your goal sounds good. And I can empathise with feeling better about the baby weight than the post-baby weight. I'm still in the post-baby weight territory too! I reckon 5 weeks might just get me back to the baby-weight only remaining point too (as I'm not going to be able to diet properly now, just eat v healthily and exercise v gently). Would you mind if I join you on the 5 weeks target?

MarkingMyPlace9 · 03/03/2015 11:23

Omg Tango!!!!
Congrats!!!!! I bet your over the Moon (In a terrified kind of way lol) Do you know how far gone you are?
Of course you may join. But please don't go crazy, I understand you still wanting to loose weight, but you have BIB (Baby In Belly - Don't know if there is another Word for it on MN!?) To think about now!!
Have you told anyone yet? Congrats again!!!
Flowers

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 12:31

Only my DH marking although I did whisper to sleeping dc2 at bedtime last night that I thought he was going to be a big brother (had just discovered a slight implantation bleed which is often the first sign for me, so knew what the result of this morning's test was going to be).

I'm not going to go mad on the dieting I promise. I'm just hoping to use the fact everything I put into my month directly affects someone else, to inspire me to put only healthy things in! Also, in my previous pgs I have totally gone off sweet stuff in the first trimester, so I'm hoping to turn that to my advantage too if it happens again.

Don't know why I am feeling so scared at seeing the bfp - it's a much wanted pg!! I'm sure I'll calm down soon(ish!). I guess part of the reason is I'm only 3+3 (three weeks and three days pregnant) and AF (period) is not even due until late this week! I'm sure once I've actually missed my period I'll start to feel a bit calmer (maybe!!). I'll have three under 5yrs and be living in a foreign country thousands of miles from friends and family (we move in two weeks), so that is a little bit daunting too!

MarkingMyPlace9 · 03/03/2015 15:00

Aww very cute to whisper it to your DC2 yesterday ColdFeet
Yes. I suppose knowing that everything you eat goes directly to BIB helps with the motivation. It certainly helped me give up Smoking as soon as I found out I was preggers with DS, and has helped me keep me off them since. Probably another reason I piled on the Weight after I had Him!
Yes, if you go off sweet stuff again that will help. I went off Chocolate and Cheese through the whole of my Pregnancy, but I made up with it gorging on other Foods as it mildly helped with the feeling of sickness! Are you feeling sick? Hopefully it's too early for that.
It is such early Days, it's probably not sunk in yet. DH wants me to take a PT this Weekend as I finished Ovulating sometime last Week and I said no, I'm not taking a Test till I start to feel symptoms/Sick as I don't want to find out to early!!
3 under 5, you will have your Work cut out for you! And wow, moving to a Foreign Country aswell. Are you moving out there permanently, or just temporary for Work or something? Xx

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 15:29

It's temporally for DH's work. I'll be a sahm for the first time! Not feeling sick yet, just a little queazy now and then. Hopefully that will hold off for another few weeks (at least until after the move!). Am feeling very crampy though, which is normal for me in early pg. so just enough symptoms to believe the test but not so many I can't get on with my day. That's perfect - wonder how long it will last!

Good luck for you! I'm totally in support of waiting to test in theory, but I've never managed it myself Grin

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 03/03/2015 16:01

Congratulations takestwo!!!
So pleased for you. Grin

I've been, being rubbish eating wise, rheumatism flare up and weather been rubbish. Excuses, excuses..,

Have been trying to only drink diluting juice, and not Pepsi max. And stopping when I'm full. Need to try harder thou.

On tww just now, then if not pregnant will be waiting 2/3 months before we try again.

Symptom spotting like a loon just now, Blush trying to not get my hopes up thou. Also I was 21 days late before I got a bfp with ds, so could be in for a long wait even if I am.

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 16:46

Wow 21 days late before a bfp! I'm amazed you hadn't gone to the docs and demanded a blood test yellow I'd have been going round the twist! Good luck this month!!

MarkingMyPlace9 · 03/03/2015 19:47

How are you feeling about the move ColdFeet? Are the Kids excited? Ohh SAHM is exciting! It will be interesting as your Kids are older and you can have Conversations with them. I'm a SAHM with my 19 Month Old who's not talking yet, so My DH gets talked at a lot for the 1st Hour or so of Him being Home each Night lol! Hope the Sickness holds off. Congrats again, very excited for you xx. Oh yes, I'm due on next Sat, suppose I probably would end up taking a Test if I don't come on!
Oh dear sorry to hear that Yellow 21 Days late?? Crikey! I'd be taking a Test a Day lol

TakesTwoToTango · 03/03/2015 21:27

I'm feeling a bit stressed as there's a lot to organise, but generally very excited. My 19 month old doesn't have a clue what's going on. My three year old is excited because she thinks it means she gets to eat chocolate cake on the plane (they served cake as part of the in-flight meal on her only other previous trip!) Grin

Won't be long before your little one is talking marking ! Although I do still find I need 'adult conversation' after a day with the kids. There's only so much 'frozen' chat I can take!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/03/2015 00:18

Congratulations takestwo!! And I hope the move isn'ttoo stressful for you Flowers

Thanks cold!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 04/03/2015 09:46

Yeah it was a long 21 days Confused
I did go to the doctor, they weren't interested, I knew I was pregnant.
I may have ovulated late, who knows.

Trying to ignore it just now, which is easier said than done, sore back, boobs, knackered all the time. But think it's just in my head. Sad

My 19 month old does really talk either so it can be a long day sometimes, especially if dh is doing 12 hrs.

Well he says some things when he wants to, but no chat like some people have.

Was good yesterday, ds and I built a snow peppa pig outside.
Dh has got a stag day on Saturday, unless it's called off if it's still snowing. will need to find stuff to do, might get the Inlaws round to entertain ds.

MarkingMyPlace9 · 04/03/2015 14:19

How you feeling today ColdFeet? My God. I would move if there was Chocolate Cake involved Grin Yes I suppose so, as much as I Love Frozen, sometimes it can all be a bit much! Do you know anyone out there?
Omg Yellow Did they not offer you a Blood Test or anything? Yea mine's the same. He sits there and go 'Dadada' at random things, so talks, but won't answer me or tell me what He wants!! Oh you have snow, how exciting!
