New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

PoirotsMoustache Im doing ok. Somedays better than others but that's normal given that emotions can sometimes take over true hunger.

Octupus Hows it going for you?

Octopus37 · 08/01/2015 19:15

Hi, I have been a bit mixed tbh, eating not too bad and a lot of steps, but has one a bit wrong today, although steps still quite good. Ended up eating loads of bread (white bread topped with olives etc) which I shouldn't have done was hungry so ate some about 11 and then ate too much after I got the kids from school. Have been feeling a bit tired, emotional and kids winding me up. Its my 40th tomorrow and I am going out for a couple of meals over the weekend, but I am really going to try to be mindful and start over tomorrow. Having lasagne for my dinner now. Have lost 0.2kg more which isn't very much considering all the exericse but onwards and downwards hopefully.

Millli · 08/01/2015 21:20

Octopus any loss is good, honestly. Can you listen to a cd to reboot yourself. I found it helpful to listen daily when im not doing too well. Also re reading can help, even if its only bits from the book. Maybe you overeating was an emotional response. Thing is we know when we are really really hungry and we just have to eat. Its primal. Then there is the mouth hunger when we eat just because it tastes nice. You know your 40th birthday can be stressing you too. These big birthdays make us look over where we have been and take stock. Sometimes being 40 and still not lost the weight that you feel will make life better can affect you too. Just be kind to yourself and be mindful but give yourself permission to just let go for a day or two .

Solo · 09/01/2015 00:40

Quick pop in from me!

Choc that's excellent re the IBS and reflux :) great added bonus eh? :) I would say though that you will be better not eating before you are hungry. If you like hot chocolate (the type you add water to; I love the Galaxy), it's a great way to stave off the slight hunger or satisfy a craving for something sweet that you really won't enjoy after 20+ chews!!!

Katie yes to what Millli says re sitting with a drink whilst Dc's eat.

Octopus!!! Happy Birthday To You!!! Grin

Happy birthday Octopus!

Going to try the pedometer app on my phone today-just need to find a suitable pocket to put phone in- I don't want to sit on it!!

Octopus37 · 09/01/2015 10:53

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Going to try to be a bit mindful today and do lots of steps but hey ho it is my birthday.

RunningKatie · 09/01/2015 10:55

Happy birthday octopus

Been out for a walk before the heavens open later. Apparently we are in for a bad weekend weather wise.

I'm drinking more water, eating more slowly and I'm already feeling much chirpier for it.

I'm decluttering the house at the moment, at some point I need to tackle my clothes. By the summer I would like to be back in my pre-dc dresses. It's good goal to visualise.

Millli · 09/01/2015 15:06

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OCTOPUS have a lovely day.

RunningKatie Octopus Choclover .......Did you manage to read my posts to you yet? Hope they help Smile

Millli · 10/01/2015 00:31

How did today go for you all? I didn't eat wheat yesterday and today as my IBS was playing up (generally stress related) but seems ok now so will have some toast tomorrow. Didn't eat totally mindfully today but didn't overeat either. Tomorrow is another day. Smile

Octopus37 · 10/01/2015 10:17

Thank you for the advice, didn't do so well with eating yesterday but trying not to stress, but did do a lot of steps, onwards and downwards. Will get the CD at some point.

Solo · 10/01/2015 15:34

Really really over ate yesterday. Not good, but hey ho, on we go!

OP posts:
Millli · 10/01/2015 15:39

Solo why do you think you overate? Stress, just because it was there, mouth hunger, self sabotage?

Solo · 10/01/2015 15:56

Who knows Millli all of the above maybe!

Made a proper Shepherds Pie for dinner yesterday which, had I done a range of veg with, could've served 4 ~ although it was very shallow and only had a light layer of potato on top. I only served peas with it, and it's all gone (Dd and me). I made a treacle tart. Farrrrrrr too sweet for my taste, but had to eat it...(still some left, but I ate far too much of it). Ate the remainder of the Stollen ~ not loads, but I wasn't hungry.

Am having hot flushes again, so maybe it's hormonal, but still! am annoyed about it.
Have not eaten today yet.

OP posts:
Millli · 10/01/2015 16:17

Well if you havnt eaten today I'm guessing your body isn't hungry yet which is fine. I don't eat till late afternoon some days too. I feel that its just my body balancing things out.

Millli · 10/01/2015 16:19

I'm doing better at noticing when I am eating for reasons other than true hunger but sometimes the urge to eat something just over rides everything even when not hungry. For me it's emotional.

Millli · 11/01/2015 14:14

Hi, how's everyone doing? If your not doing well please still post cause maybe we can help you to get on track and understand why you are self sabotaging. I know I sound preachy but I dont mean too its just that when you fully immerse yourself in doing this properly it really really works. Blush
I am presently cooking Roast Turkey so Turkey is in the oven but inspired by another thread, I have just had a small portion of cheesy beans on toast. OMG total yummy Grin

Octopus37 · 11/01/2015 19:28

Not surprisingly, I haven't done very well this weekend, birthday and all that, today hasn't been great either but slightly better, steps have been so so.

Todays food:

2 slices of toast with peanut butter (left a mouthful)
A miniture hero
A sub with chicken breast cheese on one side, salad and hot chilli sauce (left a mouthful)
A substantial piece of left over birthday cake (left a mouthful)
Gardeners pie, comprising bacon, lentils, veg with mash on top (made without butter and milk cause I hate them)
I have just eaten four champagne truffles.

Could easily eat more but trying to look at reasons.

Solo · 12/01/2015 00:48

Two weetabix today with hot water on and two spoons of natural yoghurt.

Roast lamb, broccoli, cauliflower, roast parsnips, roast sweet pots and normal roast pots, gravy and mint jelly. Yummy!

Cheese and pickle sarnie!

Not bad I suppose, but not great.

Millli I'm an emotional eater too, but I thought I was doing better with that.

PoirotsMoustache · 12/01/2015 10:30

Hi Everyone!

It looks as though we all ate a little more than we intended at some point over the weekend. I’ve still done better than I was expecting, and have lost 5.5-6lbs. It’s not exact because I don’t have digital scales, so I have to peer over my stomach at the little lines on the dial! I’m really pleased though, and rather surprised.
I am really struggling with feeling satisfied/not snacking after meals. I’ve replaced junk snacks with plain nuts, as I eat fewer of them and they’re healthier, despite being fairly high in fat. It’s the habit/emotional eating that I’m missing though, as I’m most definitely not at all hungry after I’ve had a main meal.

Milli I’m glad you’re doing ok (referring back to your post to me on Thurs!). I am in complete agreement with you about emotions taking over true hunger on occasion. It can be so hard to differentiate between the two sometimes, especially if you’re an emotional eater, which I definitely am. I call it mouth hunger too! How was your Turkey yesterday? I’m glad you enjoyed your cheesy beans on toast. I can’t eat that particular dish any more as it was the last thing I ate directly before I got a very bad sickness bug.

Octopus I hope you had a really nice birthday. Well done on your loss, and the amount of steps you’re doing. I find my weight always goes up when I start exercising, then after quite a short while it starts going down again, so don’t get disheartened. And well done on all the mouthfuls you keep leaving. That’s something I keep forgetting to do.

ChocLover Did you manage to try the pedometer app? If so, how did you find it? I may have to see if I can find one for my phone, although I suspect I only do about 2000 steps a day Blush

RunningKatie Good to hear you’re feeling chirpier. I’m am sure you will be back in your pre-DC clothes by summer – just keep at it.

Solo I don’t think what you ate yesterday was too bad at all. It certainly doesn’t look like a huge amount of food, just 3 normal meals. I hope you have a good day today Smile

ChocLover2015 · 12/01/2015 13:40

Not a great weekend foodwise, but still better than a pre-PM weekend! I weighed myself today and have lost 5.5lbs in the first week , so I am very happy with that, although I have 7+ stones to lose!.
It has been very cold wet and windy here the last few days so I haven't tried out the pedometer yet.Did go swimming once though
solo the menu you posted looks fine!
solo/Milli I think we have to accept that we aren't perfect and sometimes a bad day will happen foodwise. The main thing is having the strength to not let one bad day become 2
OctopusWell done on the steps!
RunningKate Have you managed to listen to your CD recently?I found myself slipping off the wagon a bit when I didn't listen for a few days

Millli · 12/01/2015 17:27

Poirots O well done you on the weight loss. I think feeling satisfied is that point when you are no longer as hungry as you were before you started and could actually stop and not be hungry for awhile but sometimes feeling satisfied is maybe having a few crisps and a bit of chocolate before you are done too. Does that make any sense haha?

Choc Well done to you on the loss too!! No we are not perfect as Im sure perfect would be boring anyway. That's the thing with this way of eating though, your not dieting so if you overeat one day then you can learn from it and just move on.

Solo Your Sunday menu sounds brilliant. Nice food too.

Octopus37 · 12/01/2015 18:43

Hi, sounds like we are all up and down but getting there gradually. I am the same three pounds down from my starting weight despite my birthday so really pleased with that, would like to lose another 9 pounds, but would be happy with 5. TBH think the loss is probably more to do with my steps. Today:
Cereal bar
Mozzerella and tomato croissant from Pret
1 small cake at cake sale
Some salt and vinegar peanuts, should have measured these out, didn't
Bowl of tomato soup
Some garlic and rosemary bread and some sundried tomato and basil bread.

Not terrible but not great either. Registered steps is 14,882 but know I have done more cause phone ran out of batter and walked to school and back via Tescos.

Solo · 12/01/2015 23:52

Hi all!! Wow! you ladies are really going some, so well done all of you :)

I have been ok ish today I think.

2 Weetabix with hot water and two spoons Greek style yoghurt.
1 round of cheese and Branston sandwich on fresh granary bread.
1 tin of tomato soup and 3 slices of granary bread.
Left over cold custard.
Bucket of tea.
6 squares of dark chocolate this afternoon as was really hungry.

Have been walking to and from school which equates to around 5 miles. Knackered!
Need to listen to CD's again.
