New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Five pounds B in nine days, eating whatever you want when your hungry is brilliantGrin What exactly did you not think was good about it Shock I'm struggling to understand how you could see it as bad. Thought you were going to say five pounds on. Grin

bubulix · 20/01/2015 13:41

I know! I don't know what I wanted to see - I think it's because I was reading all the Amazon reviews for the book before I found this forum and some of the losses on there are unbelievable (but then so is 5 pound - it's more than I ever lost in that time on SW)!

Time for a pat on the back for the achievement and a slap on the face for being stupid about being upset initially Wink

Millli · 20/01/2015 13:48

So I'm saying a big WELL DONE BGrin

PoirotsMoustache · 20/01/2015 21:09

You can do it, Octopus. I think you've set yourself a good, achievable goal.

bublix Well done, that's brilliant! And just think, you've not suffered to lose the equivalent of 10 packets of butter, you've had a darned good time eating whatever you want Grin

Well, I've just listened to the CD from start to finish, and I don't think it's going to be an effective tool for me at all Sad

Bonnie152 · 20/01/2015 21:46

Hi everyone! Well done bubulix that's a fantastic loss you must be thrilled!

I've been reading the thread every day but my eating has been all over the place! We've had a rough few days with baby resulting in very little sleep. We think he has silent reflux so off to doctors tomorrow to hopefully try to get that sorted - poor little mite :(

Tomorrow I'm aiming to stick to the 4 golden rules rather than just grabbing the first thing to hand.

Poirot - why don't you think the cd will be good for you? I'm hoping to listen to mine when I go up to bed if little one will let me!

Well done everyone, all doing really well :)

Millli · 20/01/2015 22:12

I use the Gastric Band CD and find it works very well for me and does help me to feel much fuller quicker. The other CDS work well too but that is the one I like.
Poirot I have the same question as Bonnie about why you don't feel the CD will work?

Bonniesounds like you are suffering from lack of sleep which tends to make you eat much more as a way of compensating for lack of energy. Also you probably are doing a bit of emotional eating rather than eating to satisfy true hunger. Food is comforting isn't it. We are all different. Just get back on it and you will be fine.

Solo · 20/01/2015 23:50

Hi all! just caught up with you all :) and my goodness! you are doing well!
B 5lbs is bloody brilliant! that's almost half a stone! and I reckon you'll soon be at your first full 14lbs loss very soon. Put the scales away though; scale stepping is really bad for self sabotage ime!!

Poirot have you tried the gastric band one? as Millli said, it is very good and might just be what you need.

Bonnie lack of sleep has a lot to answer for! don't be so hard on yourself lovely; you have a whole lot of different things going on in your life right now :)

Octopus you will almost certainly have your 9lbs off by summer if you still with this!

Millli a cottage?!! mmmmmmm...lovely!! I know what you mean about almost crying when you have to take off a warm and comforting item to face the freezing cold! brrr!!

I've not had a fabulous few days; I've had a hungry few days for some reason. I'm going to try to listen to the cd again and bump start it again.

OP posts:
PoirotsMoustache · 21/01/2015 08:32

I don't think it'll work because I didn't feel at all sleepy whilst listening to it. I was fairly relaxed, but I was wide awake (eyes closed still), and stayed awake for the whole session.

My mind kept drifting to other things - housework, the office, things I needed to do the following day. I also found it very hard to do the visualisation/imagining exercises he was saying to do. I truly can't imagine myself slimmer than I am, I just have a fat picture of me in my mind that I can't change. And when he said to look at myself through the eyes of someone who loves me, I thought of my husband and tried to think of myself the way he says he sees me, but all I could see was a fat, ugly, unattractive toad-like blob. No idea what he sees in me!

I think I have rather a lot of self-loathing to get rid of Confused Sad

Bonnie I hope you manage to get your baby's reflux sorted, and that you and he get some sleep. Like Milli says, it'll be easier once you're less tired as you'll not need so much extra energy and will be less inclined to eat emotionally.

Solo I've only listened to the ICMYT one, I don't have any of the others. I think it's the method rather than the actual CD that won't work, if you see what I mean. I'm not sure my mind will relax enough for the suggestions to work. I'll keep trying though, and maybe give the gastric band one a go at a later date.
Do you know why you've had a hungry few days? I hope you're not beating yourself up about it - as you said to me once, quite some time ago, each meal you can start again Smile

bubulix · 21/01/2015 10:11

Morning everyone

Poirot if you can't think of yourself thin at the moment then think of a woman's body that you would love to gave an stick your head on it! I find it easier to imagine my face thinner and then pop it on a body to natch (I use my sister - she's a healthy curvy 10/12 and would love her body). BTW I love your name - I'm Agatha Christie/murder mystery mad!

I am in an obesity support group on FB and the other day a few members who'd got to 'target' through slimming clubs or calorie counting were talking about how they still needed support, that if anything they now have a tougher journey trying to maintain. One woman said something along the lines of 'it's so harder that I'll have to battle with food every day for the rest of my life, resisting all the foods I love to keep this weight' and I just thought it was the saddest thing I'd ever read (and said to myself I'd rather be chubby, enjoying cake than having that daily struggle!).

I think that's what's so amazing with Paul's system - you are tackling your food issues straight on and allowing yourself anything you want as long as your appetite allows for it, and never going hungry and by the time we get to our ideal body it will just be our nature to easily follow the rules and will be at natural as breathing!

Solo I think hungry days are inevitable and if your sure it is physical hunger then eat! There will be days when you have hardly an appetite and it'll all work itself out

Solo · 21/01/2015 11:36

Poirot I get that too sometimes. Just can't switch life off to properly hear PM, but yes, do keep trying because even if only small bits are going in, your mind will treat that like a jigsaw puzzle and piece it together to make a full picture! I usually fall asleep, but not always and yes, I too can have a busy mind.
You really must try to stop putting yourself down; it's not good for you and you are worthy of loving yourself and allowing others to love you too and regardless of your weight or shape too! so, just keep on keeping on :)
I also now find it hard to visualise myself as a slim person even though I have always been slim up until 5/6 years ago.

B that is sad isn't it? that they have to basically think 'diet' all the time.
Yes, I will sort myself out. Need to reboot.

How are you Millli and Bonnie and Octopus ?

Have a good day everyone!

Millli · 21/01/2015 17:33

Poirot don't worry about it not going in. It goes in subconsciously. That's why he tells you to do the count down and if your mind drifts off go back to the beginning of the count down all over again. The countdown is used to focus your mind. Its done to help stop your thoughts going all over the place. As soon as you are aware of your mind wandering, just start counting down again from 300. I have used this method when I did hypnosis 20 years ago. Also you do not have to become sleepy with hypnosis nor fall asleep. It works anyway.

Bonnie yes it is sad isn't it that people are on diets their whole life. Trouble is there is a high percentage of people who gain the weight back when they start eating normally again as they go overboard on foods that were previously forbidden. I have maintained with this mindfull eating for 10 to 15 years and only put 5 pounds on in the last year when menopause started. However I am now trying to lose another stone or so as I want to be lighter to help my joints and be more supple. Will be doing yoga too.

Solo, Hi , Im doing ok thanks. Im really pleased that I have kept off the 5lbs I lost a couple of weeks ago and am keeping focused to lose more now. Smile

PoirotsMoustache · 22/01/2015 08:33

Haven't got time to stop today, just wanted to pop in and say thank you to you all for your advice, encouragement and kind words. I have read everything you have said and will be trying the various suggestions made.

You're all lovely! Flowers

So happy to hear of your success with this way of living/eating Milli

I have 5 stone to lose ideally so a long way to go but a pleasant path to take when you use the McKenna system! Have enjoyed the delights of haggis balls and scone with Cornish cream today (not together I should add!). Pulled pork for tea, yummy!

How is everyone else doing?

mrsmilesmatheson · 22/01/2015 21:12

I got nosey and stepped on the scales. I've lost 2 ibs GrinGrin. Also ordered a Fitbit today which I'm hoping will egg me on to do a little more dog walking.

Millli · 22/01/2015 22:03

Yay!!!! Go MRSWink

Octopus37 · 23/01/2015 12:17

Hi, just wanted to check in, have been staying at the Travel Lodge for the last couple of nights cause of no hot water/heating situation. Eating has gone a bit off kilter tbh but have managed to be mindful a couple of times. Away over the weekend, not giving up, I am still in.

Millli · 24/01/2015 00:43

Is it a nice Travelodge Octopus?

Millli · 24/01/2015 12:11

Solo how are you doing? What happened five or six years ago that caused you to gain weight Smile

Solo · 24/01/2015 13:47

Octopus my boiler stopped working when I was 8 months pg with Dd. I had to bring a newborn home to a freezing house and no hot water except for the electric shower. A whole year later, I got a new boiler. I understand why you are at a TL.

Millli my Dad was dx'd with terminal cancer and I caught my Dd's father with another woman. Then, 10 people that I knew ~ both family and friends including Dad died over the next 11 months.
I have now hit the 10 people dying again this past 12 months and wonder if that is why I've got the munchies again this time. Hadn't put those things together until just now :( but maybe that is the reason behind it.

Millli · 24/01/2015 18:14

Solo......Sorry, horrible time for you then. Sorry your going through it again now. I think it would make sense that eating more and gaining weight is a self protection thing.

bubulix · 25/01/2015 17:06

So two week weigh on this morning - 6.5lb lost! The whole house is ill and tired today so I've been comfort eating a bit. Reminding myself that one day didn't make me fat so one day won't effect me becoming thin. It's just one day and back to my new normality (Paul's system) once I'm better.

I'm still eating a lot slower today so chuffed with that.

bubulix · 25/01/2015 17:07

Solo so sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time x

Millli · 26/01/2015 09:07

Brilliant Bub Grin

Octopus37 · 27/01/2015 21:44

Hi, hows everyone doing? Had a lovely weekend, hotel stay, then a spa day on Monday, I admit that for the most part mindful eating went out of the window. Have got back on track with my steps today, but eating still not great. Know I really need to listen to the CD (when noone is around), read the rest of the book and refocus a bit, amongst being busy with everything else. Was 2 pounds up on Sunday but back to normal yesterday, no further weight loss unsurprisingly. Know I nee to get out of the weight mentality and try and focus on being mindful.

Solo - so sorry you are havinf such a bad rime. Bubuliz 6.5 pounds is loads, you must be over the moon
