New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Hello solo Smile happy new year and thanks for starting this thread. I've dipped in and out of pmk threads over the last year and lost a stone over the summer which I maintained ... Up until Xmas and I'm now dreading weighing in.

I'm back on the pmk wagon as of tomorrow morning, this way of eating is brilliant. Aiming for another stone. Am singing on stage at the end of January.

Helenagrace · 01/01/2015 21:29

Hello! Hope you don't mind me popping in with a question?

I've read the book but haven't tried this. Can anyone tell me how they fit it in with a family? I don't really want to be cooking different meals or at two different times?

mrsmilesmatheson · 02/01/2015 07:08

Hi Helen, I found it fitted in with my family fine. When I'm doing this I find I do get hungry at around about main meal times. If I was not hungry at a "meal" time I'd still sit with my family and I'd save my food for later - just warm it up. I found it sets a good example for my daughter that you don't eat because of social expectations or any reason other than being hungry.

Cupcake1982 · 03/01/2015 10:51

Morning :)

I would love to join you! I have dipped into PM in the past but never really stuck with it. I have the book so I will dig it out but plan on just getting on with it as of now! I hope no one minds me asking but has anyone actually lost weight with PM? It's just I have a good few stone to lose so really need to lose some weight! I have always felt better in myself when following PM though :)

Thanks :) xx

mrsmilesmatheson · 03/01/2015 11:10

Hi cupcake. I weighed this morning and amazingly I have maintained so yes, I've lost a stone since August and kept it off Grin here's to the next one.

Cupcake1982 · 03/01/2015 11:16

Hi Mrsmilesmatheson, That's great! You must feel great :) It obviously works well for you. I am going to go and have a read of my book. Like I said I have a good few stone to lose but I am such a 'all or nothing' person and my weight is like a yo yo (although more ups than downs!!!) I just want a 'normal' relationship with food, no more 'good' days and 'bad' days! xx

mrsmilesmatheson · 03/01/2015 13:45

You sounds just like me cupcakes. I'd like to lose another 2 stone ideally but am happy to take my time if I end up having a better relationship with eating and food.

Had yummy breakfast of apple with peanut butter and a coffee from my new machine Smile. Lunch was bacon and egg roll of which I've just left 1/3 as I simply didn't fancy the rest.

Making pumpkin seed and apricot flapjacks with dd later.

Millli · 03/01/2015 16:15

Hello anyone who is new Smile and "Welcome".
Hi MrsMiles nice to see you back.

Cupcake yes lots of people have and do lose weight with this way of mindful eating. If you listen to your body and only eat when you are truly hungry then you will naturally lose weight. Its only when you get too complacent or don't really listen and respond to your body that you don't lose weight or in fact gain it. Diets tell you how many calories to eat and when to eat but they seem to eventually fail because people end up bingeing on foods that are forbidden etc.

Millli · 03/01/2015 20:18

It's so refreshing to find that when you truly allow yourself to eat whatever you want and you are hungry that you fully appreciate satisfying your hunger and half of your portion is sometimes all you need. Smile This is the way weight loss lies.

Octopus37 · 03/01/2015 22:35

I'm really inspired by this, have just started eating mindfully, but need to learn to start leaving a bit of food, thinking about it could have done this with my jacket potato at lunchtime but ate it all. Onwards and downwards tomorrow.

Millli · 03/01/2015 22:55

Hi Octopus. For me its eating just enough to be satisfied. Knowing that that true desperate hunger feeling has gone and I can stop. I can always go back to it but rarely do.

Solo · 04/01/2015 01:14

Hello! Hello! Welcome to everyone! I have just got my internet back! I'm so sorry I wasn't here after I'd posted the first post! but I'm so glad the new ladies have found us and returnees have returned.

Helena yes, you can just sit with a drink at the table with your children/family while they eat their meals; it can feel anti social, but it will feel so much better once the weight has dropped! and the family will get used to you sitting, chatting and having a drink instead of eating.

Cupcake I lost 2st originally, but gained it all back when I stupidly returned to comfort eating. I have now lost a stone and have been maintaining that; I'm now aiming for the next stage and would if I can, like to lose another 2st and certainly a stone by mid to late April as my Dd takes her First Communion and I want to look and feel nice :)

Octopus next time, you could just leave a piece of the skin :) that way, you are leaving a piece of the less desirable rather than the fluffy potato/butter/filling etc ~ unless you want to of course! Grin

So! we are on our way then! 1lb at a time ~ it's easier to aim for 16oz and not 14lbs don't you think?! Grin

OP posts:
mrsmilesmatheson · 04/01/2015 09:08

Hi solo Smile I like your thinking. 16oz at a time it is Grin

Solo · 04/01/2015 12:46

:) and 16x14=224=a whole. massive. stone!!! Grin

Hope you are all well today? Dd and I have just had brunch. Toasted pain au chocolate...we had 3 between us. Yummy!!

Managed to leave a bit of my breakfast biscuit this morning and one bite of my cheese and pickle on toast which I had for lunch. Also shared a twirl bar with my DS this morning, I will get there. Now just about to have a glass of water.

RunningKatie · 04/01/2015 13:54

I have got to find a way to listen to the cd regularly as it really helps me. I did this before I had the dc so I'm a very different person now and a good 1.5 heavier

The ice has finally cleared here so I can do more walking again.

Solo · 04/01/2015 16:09

Excellent Octopus :) well done! a great start :)

RK what about at bedtime?

Millli · 04/01/2015 18:12

Have you started yet Solo?

Millli · 04/01/2015 18:12
Grin
Octopus37 · 04/01/2015 18:43

Mixed bag today. Have eaten:

Breakfast biscuits (left a bit)
Half a twirl bar (left none)
2 pieces of cheese on toast with pickle, left one bite
5 minature heroes but eaten in a mindful manner
Salmon with a humus crust and cous cous - prob ate too much and forgot to leave any - whoops
A baked apple with mincemeat and custard, have left a couple of mouthfuls

Have done 10,578 steps today, aiming for 13,000

Will be a bit easier tomorrow, kids back at school, am out and about working, which naturally involved a lot of walking

Millli · 04/01/2015 18:48

The salmon recipies sounds lovely Octopus. I tend to bake my salmon with honey and lemon wedges. Need to try different ways to cook it though.

Today I had

cherry, blueberry and banana smoothie (nothing else added)

piece of toast with salty butter

small amount of Lindt Father Christmas

Roast chicken (half a breast) with lettace, celery, cucumber and cherry toms.

Octopus37 · 04/01/2015 20:37

Salmon was lovely, out of the trolley dash page of the latest Tesco magazine, was supposed to be moroccan humus, but could only get lemon & coriander which was still nice. Looking at my thread I realise that I am still eating a lot, need to reduce this in time.

Solo · 05/01/2015 02:21

Not properly M I have no car, so no shopping, so no food I really want to eat! Grin. Yet!

We had a roast dinner of lamb, carrots, roast pots and parsnips with gravy and mint sauce. Left the fat.

Dd and I ate 4 fancy sweets each. They've been in the house for about a month untouched but now they are open, they will have to go!
I also had a hot chocolate made with milk.

I need to read a/the book and listen to a cd.
