New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

I don't think the Atkins is good anyway. Too much added fat and processed foods and dairy products. I eat lower carb now but it's just lots of fruit and veg, chicken, fish and nuts. Occasional homemade cake. I don't eat diary anymore either. I always try and eat mindfully though . This way of eating helps my hot flushes and hormones too.

Quick update. The mammogram is clear!

Just had a look at this thread as have ordered the freedom from emotional eating book. It should arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to read it as I very badly need to be freed of my emotional eating! I wouldn't have posted but wanted to say hurray! to Solo. I don't know you, haven't read the thread yet and don't know the backstory, but a clear mammogram is worthy of celebration xx

Solo · 28/08/2015 00:41

Thank you AWONI :) and welcome to our thread!

Thanks solo. I think I'm going to need a lot of help! My book arrived (thank you amazon!) and I've started to read it. I'm on my own this evening and I thought it would be a good time. I'm up to the havening bit, and because a lot of the reviews on amazon said that during the DVD he doesn't give you much time to think of things to haven, I thought I'd do a list to sort of prepare. Now I know I have survived a lot of very bad stuff (bereavements, abuse, that kind of bad stuff) I'm sitting here looking at the list and thinking "well is it any wonder?" And I'm on my second glass of wine and I'm eating a bag of crisps I'm not hungry for. Feel emotionally worn out already and I'm only a third way through the book! Going to finish my crisps and get back to it. It would seem incongruous to read a book about ending emotional eating whilst simultaneously emotionally eating...! Thank you for being here x

Solo · 29/08/2015 13:41

Well, you have started on your journey to a better life now, so...one step at a time :)

Progress report: I've managed to listen to the trance every day so far. I can't actually remember how many days it's been, which is maybe a good thing? I'm taking it literally one day at a time. Did the havening DVD once, but then between work and children I haven't had the chance to do it again. I've found it quite hard to notice when I feel hungry until my stomach is growling and I'm suddenly starving but I hope I'll learn to pay attention to the earlier signals. Has anyone else struggled with this?

I'm pleased that overall I haven't found myself going for food when I'm not hungry at all, so far it's been pretty much meal times, and I haven't nibbled in between which is what I usually do.

I've also noticed that I do feel very (unusually) calm. A few things happened today that would normally have me on the ceiling and I just sort of noted that I felt ok. Odd. I still haven't managed to stay awake through the trance so I don't know what he's telling me but it seems to be working!!

Hope everyone's ok. The thread seems unusually quiet?

Solo · 02/09/2015 10:33

That sounds very positive AWONI :)
I think that the recognition of hunger can take time, so don't think it's not working yet.
Brilliant that you feel calmer; I wish I did! :) :)

The thread does go from manic to quiet, but it can be difficult to fit everything into life and the thread, but do keep posting as it'll spring back into life!

As an aside, did anyone see Embarrassing Bodies last night? I didn't see it all, but I did see the part where Dr Christian lets people serve themselves a portion of food, then separates them into two groups, one of which is blindfolded to eat. It's the same experiment that PMK does. Great results and I'm wondering whether we should all sit blindfold at the table to eat!!

Hi all! how are we? did I mention that if I can lose a further 1/2 a lb, I'm officially 13st something instead of 14st something?! so far, I'm 16lbs down. Can I grin at you all like this ---->>> Grin. I seem to have gone off crappy sugary stuff. Had a piece of rich chocolate cake after dinner on Weds and I just did not enjoy it. Good!! won't do that again then!

OP posts:
AWONI · 05/09/2015 18:10

Gaaaahh.... Haven't been listening to cd. Have had stressy time at work and at home and have had a few days of falling face first into piles of carbs, with my mouth open.... Think pmt may have been a major factor. Will listen again tonight and commit to listening every night. Toast isn't actually helping the situation is it?!

Solo · 06/09/2015 12:47

Don't panic AWONI you just start again ~ no pressure!! Thanks

Hi ruros you are very welcome to join us, but we are committed to the Paul McKenna way of eating; we don't calorie count, look at sugars or fats particularly and we don't juice or drink shakes.

We can support you in the way we eat, but we don't eat the way you describe in your post. We do love fresh whole fruits and veg and we eventually stop loving cakes and biscuits etc, though we do eat those if we really want to. Feel free to join us! :) Thanks

Hi where is everyone?!

My news is that I've got to and passed!!! my recent goal (you remember that 1lb at a time thing) in as much as I'm now 13st 13 1/2lbs!!! I'm very pleased!

In the absence of other posters I'm going to pat myself on the back.

Yay! Well done solo! I'm still here, still being rubbish. DD nicked my headphones so I still haven't listened to Paul. We negotiated a deal (DD and I, not Paul and I...) so tonight, headphones should be free. Just had some very lovely jammy toast. Ate it all in a bit of a scoffing way due to being starving, but I enjoyed it, so that kind of counts doesn't it?!

AWONI · 10/09/2015 21:53

I have listened to the trance today, and yesterday. I cannot for the life of me stay "awake" (not sure if I'm actually sleeping) for the last part. I have no idea what he's saying to me! I might try listening to it whilst sitting up or something so I don't go into a trance/fall asleep because I'm curious. Does anyone have any idea what the cliff/mouse nibbling the tree/honey/tiger (or is it a lion?) story is all about? I get distracted at that point trying to work out what the hell the analogy is that I'm missing... DD has borrowed headphones again so I can't listen again tonight like I'd planned to but hopefully whatever he said to me at lunchtime will still be trickling around my brain tonight.

Solo · 11/09/2015 00:19

AWONI my laptop is rolling and dying, so I'll be brief. Don't wait until you are starving hungry because that causes the scoffing and not consciously eating your meals. Enjoy!! food can be delicious, but if we don't eat it mindfully, we miss out on the loveliness of it all. Try closing your eyes whilst chewing, concentrate on the flavours, the textures etc.

I hope to be back tomorrow, but I don't know that my pc will be working; it's dreadful!!

OP posts:
Solo · 13/09/2015 12:01

Hi all! I'm here for now, but laptop not good at all.

How are you all doing? I'm maintaining at the mo, which is fine! I'm not gaining.

Milllii where are you m'dear? are you ok?

OP posts:
Solo · 17/09/2015 00:23

I have a different (and working!!) laptop for now, but I think the PMK thread is on its last legs...:(

OP posts:

Anyone?

OP posts:
Millliii · 26/09/2015 12:04

Hi Solo

Stopped using MN for awhile.

As you know I have been mindful eating for about 15 years now but this last year I have changed "what" I eat. I no longer eat dairy or wheat or sugar and only eat natural foods. I eat very clean and have lost a stone since June so this has been such a boost. I still always eat mindfully, is there any other way to eat? Lol but clean. I use Ella's books and Amelia Freer. I don't feel that I can contribute to the thread now as although I started out eating whatever I wanted, when ever I was truly hungry (still do) I have now evolved to eat the healthiest optimal way I can. Food is my medicine and everything I put in my mouth has to contribute towards my health otherwise its not worth it. I still have dark chocolate and make cupcakes occasionally but from non wheat flours.

Glad you are losing weight too.

Solo · 27/09/2015 00:57

Hello Millliii nice to see you...Thanks aw! noooo, you can't leave for good!! who will I talk to?
Actually, I was really considering ditching the thread now as it was just really me talking to myself, but I do find what you are saying interesting. And a stone in three months is great. Not a bad thing to promote on here alongside PMK if you wanted to? :)

OP posts:
Solo · 04/10/2015 04:39

Well, I have been 'heading' PMK for 4.5 years, since I started thread 5. I think the thread is dead, so I'm hanging up my sales pitch and patter.

I will still go on with losing weight (now at 17 1/4lbs), but I'll be going it alone now. Good luck to those of you who are still here but lurking and thank you to those that have helped me keep my focus Thanks

OP posts:
Millliii · 09/10/2015 22:35

Hi Solo
Sorry you are having to end the thread. Thank you for starting it though. Its been very helpful. I think that now I eat so very different that it just wouldn't be helpful to those who are starting out.

Have you gained weight? You have said you are now 17 and a quarter pounds. Is that correct? Im sure the last time you posted you were under 14. That went on very fast.Sad or is it a typing error.

I am still doing well and am nearly under 13 now so will be 12 something in the next week.

Good Luck and hope you manage to get your weight to where you want to be.

Chlordiazepoxide · 12/11/2020 12:42

Anyone still doing this? I have a really long history with binge eating and starving.

I have tried OA and all sorts to support me.

I am 2 weeks binge free from doing this nightly and I feel a massive shift.

Have you guys kept off the weight?

I have never gone 3 days before without craving and caving in. Also lost 9 pounds. I'm so impressed with this. Thought I was A total lost cause
