New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Awwwww thanks Solo, hows this week been for you so far. Getting back on track yet?

Solo · 25/06/2015 10:26

Don't know that I'm back on track, but I'm trying to be more sensible! and I've bought a load of cheap fruit with the intention of no longer buying/eating cake, but eating fruit instead. The HGB doesn't seem to have any effect on me since the first time which is a shame. I am going to have to dig out my original set I think.

Not been on here in ages but I'm still sticking with the program! I'm over 2 stone down now and fit back into most of my thin clothes.
Still want to lose maybe another stone but I'm much happier than I was.

Started at 12st 5 in about August last year and I'm now 10st 3, slow and steady...

Solo · 30/06/2015 00:26

Whoop whoop!! Congratulations guns really really well done!! Please stick around and give out some more positive vibes!!

How are you all doing? I'm living on delicious fresh salads for main meals. Dd and I have swapped our cakes and cookies from the reduced counter to fresh fruit! really enjoyed walking past the reduced rack this evening and wasn't even slightly tempted!!! Grin

OP posts:
gunsandbanjos · 30/06/2015 06:58

Thanks Solo, it is still something I need to concentrate on to eat mindfully, I'm terrible for reading my iPad or texting while I'm eating. Or eating at my desk.
So I can definitely improve, I do still eat too fast sometimes and eat too much sometimes. However the big one and the key I think is only eating when you're actually hungry.

I ask my self before I eat anything am I actually hungry and a lot of the time I'm not, it's just boredom or stress or whatever. So I've pretty much nailed that, the last stone or so will hopefully come off by eating slower and more mindfully.

Solo · 01/07/2015 00:12

No, I think it's excellent! :)

By rights, I should be losing plenty!! I'm trying to eat mindfully and only when I'm hungry and I'm not eating loads either! this evening was a bread roll filled with salad and a little chicken; on the side I had a small portion of coleslaw and potato salad. Also walked about 4 miles (or more) in the scorching heat.

Well done guns.
Another pound off for me this week.

Big Fat YES to only eating when truely hungry.

Solo · 01/07/2015 23:17

Yay Milli !!
but isn't this weather horrible?!! too too hot for me! not eating much, but drinking plenty. I did actually lose 5lbs last week, but I can't really put that down as a good thing as I'd gained beforehand Blush

OP posts:
gunsandbanjos · 02/07/2015 06:53

Thanks Miillii, and well done to you too! Slow and steady wins the race.

I've got miserable people all around me in the office doing ridiculous pre holiday diets, none of them have actually lost weight as they keep falling off and bingeing on the 'wrong' foods. One of them was doing a 'cleanse' and she wasn't allowed actual food for 2 days!!! Crazy, these are sensible, highly intelligent women!

Milllii · 03/07/2015 12:18

Solo your not really complaining about this beautiful weather are you? Grin It's lovely. Mind you I love winter autumn and spring too.

Solo · 03/07/2015 15:21

I am Milli I can't stand it now I'm older! and it just makes my illness more painfully evident!!

OP posts:
gunsandbanjos · 03/07/2015 16:37

I will complain slightly about this weather but only because I suffer dreadfully with hayfever.

Milllii · 03/07/2015 21:54

Ok fair enough as long as you don't complain when the sun disappears as well and we have rainy/grey days haha.

Solo · 04/07/2015 02:04

Love rainy days!!

It took me about 4 weeks to eventually read the book. I am doing the hgb.

Yesterday evening I listened to the trance. I was disturbed towards the end of it with a child coming into my room! Anyhow managed to listen to most of it (think I did fall asleep a bit).
Half an hour later I was hungy and eat a roll and ham. I was quite dubious about how successful I would be at this mindful eating after eating the whole roll and still feeling hungry.

Felt hungry again about 10pm so had my chicken salad dinner with a wrap. I got three quarters of the way through it and felt so full. I couldn't manage it all. When I have that meal I always eat it all and will then have a second helping and a bit after that maybe some chocolate.

I am really struggling with mindful eating. Sitting and just eating doing nothing else is a real struggle for me which I will work on. My late dinner last night was eat in front of the tv but even so I still tried to count how many times I chewed the food and the flavours.

I am a bit more optimistic as last night I probably eat less than half of what I would usually eat at night time.

Oh and I am hoping to find my pedometer today so as I can get back to doing 10,000 steps every day again.

How is everyone else getting on?

Solo · 04/07/2015 12:02

That sounds positive tricky :) keep up the good work.

I cannot understand why I'm gaining weight. All I eat is a tiny tiny amount of cereal with yoghurt, then maybe a toasted muffin for lunch and then chicken salad. How?!!! :(

OP posts:
Milllii · 04/07/2015 12:41

Solo if your gaining weight then maybe keep a food diary to see exactly what you put in your mouth. I have been doing this and its surprising. I used to wonder why my weight stayed the same even though I ate mindfully. I was obviously still taking in enough food to maintain. I started eating differently about a month ago and have since lost 5 to 7 lbs. I make different choices now and eat much more mindfully.

Solo · 04/07/2015 13:34

I can literally tell you what I eat Milli and it's cut right down. I've cut out all cakes/cookies/biscuits...don't really buy sweets or chocolate and if I do buy a bar of choc, it's a large (not massive) bar from poundland and lasts me 3 to 4 weeks. I won't buy ice cream any more because I identified that that was a gainer for me. I'm living on salad in the main. I'm fed up because I can't see a reason for it.

OP posts:
Milllii · 04/07/2015 14:25

If you keep a food diary for a week it will show you how many calories you are taking in. If it's under a thousand a day and your not losing then you need to find out why. You should be losing if your eating 1500 as well albeit slower. If you are only eating between these figures and actually gaining then again, you need to find out why.

Milllii · 04/07/2015 14:30

A small portion cereal and yoghurt could be up to 400. Toasted bread muffin is 200 ish. Do you put anything on it ? Chicken salad 200 with plain salad no dressing. So if that's it then it's no more than 800 ish. Is that right

Milllii · 07/07/2015 10:39

?

Milllii · 07/07/2015 10:42

Just trying to help you work out why you are not losing Solo. I know it's frustrating, it is for me when the scales don't move as quick as I want but generally when looking at my food diary, on days I eat less I lose more. That's why noting down every scrap of food that you eat can highlight why you dont lose.

Solo · 07/07/2015 22:49

Sorry Milli feeling really unwell...

Two heaped dessert spoons of muesli (unsweetened, just oats, fruit and nuts) with (probably) equal amounts of full fat Greek or Turkish yoghurt. A spiced fruit muffin or tea cake thinly spread with Betolli (sp?) and a roast chicken, no skin salad with green leaves, tomato, cucumber, spring onions, sometimes a couple of spoons of coleslaw and maybe potato salad...lemon juice and or lime juice.

Milllii · 08/07/2015 01:08

Awwwww sorry your not feeling well. Is it your ME playing up.
Do you know what, I seriously truly think that it is our age that is against us. I have read up on it and meno and post meno is the hardest time for some women to lose weight. Until its all completely over apparently. The body seems to hold onto it. God knows I find it difficult. Like you, even with the food diary, it just doesn't come off like it did when I was younger. I too am not eating much and yet it is a struggle to get the bloody scales to go down. Grrrrr!
