New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Hello everyone! and welcome back Cupcake :)

Well done on the weightloss Milli :)

My Mum has joined Slimming World through the GP! yes, she is losing on average a lb a week, but I'm getting sick of hearing "I'm not allowed that!" on a good point though; she has stopped spreading thick spread on her bread/toast/sandwich etc which I've been telling her for years!!! she was a war time baby and it was always 'scrape it on, scrape it off' and she can't stand not tasting the butter or olive spread! I do get it, but I have always had to take 3/4's off my own bread when she makes a sandwich for me. Oh and she's swapped to semi skimmed milk from full fat. Hooray! for that :) but I just don't get why it's taken a total stranger telling her to do these things when I've been saying it for years! I don't/haven't talked about 'sins' though Hmm.

I'm off to my friends wedding this weekend and I have no idea what to wear yet! I suppose I ought to get off here and have a look.

Milllii · 23/07/2015 20:32

I used to love full fat milk, especially Guernsey milk. Yum. I don't eat dairy now though but don't miss it either. Quite enjoying rice milk or almond milk.

Thanks Solo. Its a slow process but I am getting there.

Cupcake1982 · 23/07/2015 20:59

Thanks for the welcome :)
What made me turn to a diet..... good question!
I think it was probably because I went 'wrong' then decided I couldn't do it so went back to ww which I know works and I can lose weight. I'm always in a rush to lose weight, there is always a holiday or party that I am aiming for and I suppose ww gives me the result I need (although I obviously fall off the diet wagon and it all starts again!) I have re looked at my book but haven't listened to the cd and never got into the tapping thing! I know the pm rules inside out so hoping I can just follow them! I binge eat and the past week has been awful :( x

Solo · 24/07/2015 00:43

Well, it's quite simple to just step back on :)

Cupcake1982 · 24/07/2015 09:08

Thanks, well yesterday went well so going to do it all again today :)

Amserhaf · 26/07/2015 11:04

Hello. Grin. How's everyone doing? 2lbs off for me.

Solo · 26/07/2015 23:30

I've just returned from a weekend away. Didn't eat loads, but I had a really badly upset stomach and no clue why! I have eaten normally today. Cooked breakfast, plus a small croissant. Dinner at a Harvester. Small salad from the salad bar. Main course, I left the jacket potato skin (which I usually eat), I had a veggie burger with added pulled pork Hmm. It was lovely, but I left 3/4 of the bun and the tomato and lettuce inside it and the burger sauce which put me off the tomato anyway. No dessert for me either!

Did you have a nice weekend Solo?
Funnily enough I had a tummy buggy thing last week. I must have given it to you lol!

Solo · 29/07/2015 19:34

The weekend was very nice but bloody expensive thank you :) tummy thing was very unpleasant; how's yours Milli?

Pulled up my home grown spuds last night!! looking forward to trying them out Grin.

How are you all?

OP posts:
Solo · 31/07/2015 19:37

Spuds very good!

How are you all doing today?

OP posts:
DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 02/08/2015 11:17

Right you lot. Im joining you. Grin

Ive been on this before when I first started running at the same time. The weight fell off. I then stopped listening to the CD, I also got injured so stopped running. All this was while I was unhappy with part of my life so ate too much cake (In fact one day all I ate was cake Blush).

I have the book and going to re-read it today. Im not sure where the CD is and if I can find it I have no way of listening to it as no CD player and no room on my ipod (I have a smaller one then before) will this matter that I can't listen to it? Do I need to invest in a cheap CD player and try to find the CD?

I have no motivation to even try anything else and it worked before so it should work again. I hope.

Milllii · 02/08/2015 12:42

Hi DrHarleen you don't need the cd, it's basically mindful eating however some people do benefit from the hypnosis both with their eating habits and to give deep relaxation.Smile

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 02/08/2015 13:14

Thanks Milllii I might give it a go without the CD at first and then maybe look to find a way to listen if I need to.

BTW the link in the OP regarding Freedom from emotional eating just links to this thread.

Solo · 02/08/2015 23:09

Hello and welcome from me too DrH :) thanks for letting us know about that link; bit odd as I always preview and check that the links work prior to posting the new thread, so not sure what happened there!! HERE is the link to the book if anyone needs it.

KittyB52 · 03/08/2015 16:03

Hello all! I've listened to the CD twice now but don't feel any different. How long should it take before it starts to have an effect? I am struggling with the 'rules' and thought the trance would help but so far, nothing.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 03/08/2015 20:46

Hi thanks for the welcome. Im going to buy that book and search for my CD that I have. Will also buy a cheap CD player. Its works out much cheaper than a membership to WW or SW or some other diet plan, when all I really want is a WOE and to get rid of my emotional eating that I often have.

Thanks for the link Solo

Kitty when I first listened to the CD it took me few times for it to have any effect. The first time I couldn't stop grinning as I felt a bit foolish. That soon went as did the over-eating I was doing previously.

Solo · 04/08/2015 01:14

Hi Kitty. Are you still listening to the HGB? as I think Milli said before; it worked on me the first time I used it, but seemed to undo when I topped it up and hasn't seemed to work since. Did you read the book? and how do you feel about purchasing the Freedom From Emotional Eating? this particular book seems to do a massive amount of good for many. Also, how are you doing following the Golden Rules and listening to your body? this is key to success.

DrH glad you have decided to do that. You could always ask for one on Freecycle/Freegle before buying one.

I have lost a total of 9lbs. I do need to do more in the way of the trance and the rules, but something is occurring.

OP posts:
KittyB52 · 05/08/2015 07:47

I didn't listen to HGB last night, but I am plan to listen to it again tonight. I read the book before listening to any of the tracks. I am struggling to follow the rules if I'm honest, and thought that listening to the HGB track might help with that.

I find the rules difficult as they don't seem to fit in well with my work day. I don't eat breakfast before work, as I'm not hungry then (that's at least one plus point) which means I eat it at my desk (points deducted). We have a free canteen at work which means we're served a portion of food and we get frowned at if we don't finish our plates. Wink Plus there are shifts so you don't get to sit there taking ages eating because there are other people coming in after you. I suppose I could skip the canteen and get a sandwich or something in town but then I think I am more likely to eat it all regardless as I will have paid for it! Grin Plus I tend to have stuff to do in my lunch break, so I don't really want to spend 20 minutes sitting eating. Maybe I need to bring in some smaller snacks and eat those so I can at least stop and start as I get hungry throughout the day? I'd be eating at my desk though, so not necessarily 'consciously' eating.

I know it's all excuses, I'm just struggling to break my old habits at the moment and thought the HGB might have more of an effect than it has so far.

Polarmouse · 05/08/2015 08:15

Hi all I'm new to this thread and I could do with some advice. I started I can make you thin about 4 weeks ago. I've been listening to the cd and following the rules to the best of my ability. I've found the eat what you actually want rule difficult as I am a habitual dietier, permanently on a diet but always putting on weight.

Since I started my eating habits have completely changed almost effortlessly though. I used to be a constant picker due to always restricting myself and this has totally stopped! It's such a relief to know I can actually eat something when I'm hungry and I try to listen to what my body wants. I also have totally gone off sugar and chocolate which is great.

I feel there have been positive changes and I feel lighter and more energetic...but the scales say I'm putting on weight! 3 lbs since I started. What's going on? Any advice please Smile

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 05/08/2015 08:16

I can't find my CD.

I did however, find an old CD player. Its a personal one, but I did get it in the 90's It was with my walkman.

So now do I buy I can make you thin again or the emotional eating one or both? Going to get some batteries before getting a new CD player to see if my old one works, if not it doesn't matter as batteries always come in.

Solo · 05/08/2015 13:04

Kitty work and food/eating is tough! and the thought of free lunches/meals and then buying your own is even more difficult! I feel for you. I'm not sure what the answer is. Could you request smaller portions? otherwise, maybe the snacks are a thing to try. You would, I suppose need to try out the various ideas you or others have and see which works best for you. I know it's not easy to juggle the rules with work, but do keep at it!

Hi Polarmouse and welcome! It sounds like you are well on your way.

If you are feeling lighter and more energetic, then keep on going! you are more likely to see results through the fit of your clothes or just feel and look slimmer than through the scales. Don't be disheartened as it's quite a common thing! you may suddenly discover that you are in fact, losing actual weight, but my advice to you is to not weigh in for a considerable time because if you are not seeing the loss, you may lose interest even if you are actually losing size. Please don't give up! the feeling of being lighter and having more energy is a good feeling and is worth continuing this way of eating for!

DrH if you try one of the CD's first to see how it suits you then IMO, that is the way to go. What suits one person, may not suit another as well. OTOH, if you can afford both, then swapping around if you feel one that has been working isn't working quite as well as it was can be a good thing.

We are doing well together aren't we?! :) thank you all Thanks

Milli how are you?

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 05/08/2015 16:30

I have used the I can Make You Thin CD before and I liked it. I was thinking about looking at the emotional eating book to give me some more armour against the emotional eating I so often crave.

Anyway my CD player works Grin so I have bought the book and CD again (I was hoping someone was selling just the CD, but I couldn't find one) for just under £3

So as soon as it comes when DD1 goes to bed (DD2 will be in bed) I am going to spend 30 mins listening to Paul telling me not to eat when Im not hungry.

Can't wait.

Solo · 06/08/2015 01:18

Excellent! :)

I have found that in all honesty just following the rules is what works. Really think about what and why you are about to eat. This way makes you see that you dont need as much food as you thought. You eat less calories and lose weight. Body led calorie control I call it only better.
