Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

My dive off the wagon has been more impressive than yours, Dowser! When I weighed myself this morning, I weighed 4lbs more than I did on Thursday! I had three glasses of prosecco & two of wine which will have been around 1000 calories I think & then had the post alcohol munchies so had three homemade flapjacks & a hot chocolate when I got home, had two pieces of toast & honey this morning, a slice of chocolate cake at a party and have just bought a box of fondant fancies.

5madthings · 31/01/2015 13:23

Another lb down here :) just done a six and a half mile run in just over an hour, furthest I have run in over a year.

Now for lunch am starving, have only had a banana so far today, I don't even like bananas but made myself eat something before my run! I agree with the cold weather making you crave crap food, lots of stodge and chocolate, I ate aa big nestle crunch bar the other say, minus a chunk I gave to madthing5.

I can def see a difference with my exercise just wish it would show on the scales more!

amroc18 · 31/01/2015 19:29

Thanks for the lovely comments on the dress ladies and yes am doing the sleeves thing hides the arm chub lol Grin sorry not said so sooner been about much-had a couple of mad days been into work on keeping in touch days and everything else got thrown

Dancingwitch your falling off the wagon is making me hungry!

Think it is definitely the weather. Had a roast for lunch as had a friend over and seemed the weather for it. Managed to limit the worst of it by doing roasties in frylight but still ate so much more than normal.

Hoping it's going to get easier when I get back to work proper in 2 weeks and stop finishing the baby's food. Maybe will get some more exercise in too!

Dowser · 31/01/2015 20:42

Dancing witch!

Stop!!!

Enough is enough. Please stop. Start again tomorrow.

I have used my mouth like a dustbin today. Bits of chocolate. Kids chips etc so am just as bad.

The cold weather and so much bad news I'm just drowning my sorrows in sweet stuff.

Come on girls we can do this.

Let's not give In To temptation.

Having a small modest dinner after my snack feat.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 01/02/2015 08:32

Hi all,
New day today Smile

I worked a 13 hour shift yesterday but luckily was with a client who power walks, so did 2 hours of that.

I ate some of my ghoulash, some bacon and a sausage. Had a small amount of toast with the bacon.....heaven! Salmon, boiled egg and salad for supper with a nice dressing. Dp had it ready for me getting in at 10.

I've eaten some peanuts this morning and have some ghoulash ready to take in to work. Another 13 hours but am off for a few days after tonight.

I'm not sure what exercise I'll get today but there's always plenty to do to keep me active. If I get a break (half hour) I may go for a walk?

Chat soon, have a good Sunday.

Hi FSC.

Sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise.

Are we all back on the wagon....or is it Sunday lol.

Dancing witch have you stopped now lol. Hope those fondant fancies are still intact.

I'm going to avoid the dairy milk with Daim . If I have no snacks today I might just pull back from yesterday.

If you fancy a little drink of something low cal but not alcoholic , there's a tonic with elderflower . It's 56 cals and quite refreshing.

Would be nice if pubs served it instead of that horrid j2 o. It's agonising knowing what to drink in pubs. I've never been a beer shandy or cider drinker and for years never touched spirits, so going out is a glass of soda water. I think that's why I have the occasional gin and tonic now.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/02/2015 08:02

Hi Dowser,
Yes I am pretty active. I quite fancy a pyjama day tomorrow, we'll see?

Have you tried lime and soda when you go out? You don't have to have much lime in. Or diet lemonade?

I'm not at work today just need to go in for a bit of training. It means it's easier to plan my food.

I'm off to take the lads to school and college then may have some porridge? I'm not hungry as ate late last night. Got in at 10 and dp had a curry and brown rice ready for me.

Have a good day everyone.

morning all,

Had a good weekend all on track- made some soup with leftover roast chicken & stock so going to have that for lunches over the next few days. Didn't manage to get any exercise in but will make up for that this week.

Going to try 5:2 as I've heard good things and have loads of Cambridge products left over for my fast days.

Todays menu (non fast day)-
B Scrambled eggs on 1 WM toast
L Chicken & Veg soup, Grapes & nakd bar
D Sausage & Tomato with WM pasta.

Dowser · 02/02/2015 10:35

I need to get on track. I'm probably not much over but I will be over on my daily dozen ( 12 x 100 cals=1200 )

Here's my excuse. The cold coupled with the bad news has made me lose my mojo or should I say moto ( motivation)

16 degrees in the bedroom this morning 24 when we went to bed last night!

Have a good day everyone. I fear my head is just not in the right place :-(

amroc18 · 02/02/2015 14:03

Been an ok weekend at this end, feeling hopeful for weigh in tomorrow. Made a low fat pie with just a little bit of filo pastry rather than hardcore pastry yesterday so having the rest today with veg.

Hope you get your mojo back Dowser

5madthings · 02/02/2015 14:33

Doing Ok here too, just been for a 4.3mile run, eating going Ok, the urge to eat crap is high with the cold weather but just not letting myself buy anything shite!

dowser we all have off days, you can get your mojo back again, don't deprive yourself just be sensible xxx

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/02/2015 15:15

Afternoon all.

Hope you get your mojo back Dowser. We all have our off days. I could kill for a plate of nice chips sometimes.

I've not eaten much today. I just had a banana and Greek yogurt smoothie, it was lush. I'm not sure what to make for dinner? No work today apart from the training so I have time to think.

I've be to my friend's today and she's lent me a lovely dress and handbag for a workmate's wedding in May. That saves me some cash. Just need to get shoes now. I thought I was just going to the night do but she's invited me to the full day. Posh wedding too, not modest like mine will be.

Exercise today has been 2 dog walks. Not sure if I'll do anymore? Apart from housework that is.

Yet more bad news.

Sick of bad news and the lure of the choccie tin.

Thank you for all your encouragement.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/02/2015 16:50

Sorry to hear that Dowser Sad

dancingwitch · 02/02/2015 20:14

On Friday I weighed 10st 5, on Sat 10st 9 & Sun 10st 10! I was down to 10st 8 this morning and have fasted today. The rest of the weekend mainly saw me rolling in the ditch choking on the dust as the wagon disappeared into the sunset... I didn't eat the Fondant Fancies but ate a load of fudge & Pringles instead (not at the same time!).

Dowser - I am sorry to hear that. You probably know that diving into the biscuit tin isn't actually going to make you feel better but it is still hard not to, isn't it?

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/02/2015 20:48

My weight goes up and down too. I blame hormones.

Savoury mince beef and creamed swede tonight.

I'm still low carbing but having a few sneaks. Dss had chippy food for tea and I pinched a few chips. I didn't want many though whereas once upon a time (a few weeks back) I'd have wanted a whole bag.

ATeaPleaseBob · 03/02/2015 07:39

Lovely dress Amroc!

I've slacked off diet wise for the past few days and I'm starting to see the results on my scales Sad

Instead of slowly going down, my weight and fat are slowly going back up. I don't want to end up back where I started!

New day today, must stay focused. I have less than four months to go now.

Dowser · 03/02/2015 08:56

Thanks so much for kindness and concern. I nearly lol -led at your comment dancing witch. I know just what you mean.

I just think its the wrong time of the year to do this. The cold spells make us reach for carbs.

I know a pagan gardener who plants according to the phases of the moon. He prunes when the moon is waning and the sap is receding so the plant doesn't bleed to death and it makes me think of our bodies which are 70 per cent water anyway. Are there better times in the month or in the year to cut back on calories.

We should be in hibernation phase right now.

I did read an article years ago on when it said about the time being right. Springtime as we are waking up and it's a new beginning.

It doesn't help anyone whose wedding comes first. We can only do our best bu deep down I feel the time is not right. I need the calories to function through these cold dark days.

I will persevere and limit the damage as much as I can and forgive myself for the slip ups

Dieting is hard. It goes against our primeval survival instincts. Eating has always been a socialising activity. Look how much more we eat in a social setting. It really goes against the grain.

We can only do our best and make the best choices.

5madthings · 03/02/2015 09:02

I agree this weather makes us crave cards etc. I am struggling with snacking, am getting away with it as I am running so much. Was going to run this am but too icy so will have to go later once it's thawed.

amroc your dress,is stunning! Couldn't get the link to work before.

I have realised that my scales are givibg ne a diff reading depending on where they are in the bathroom! I shall go with the lowest! It's lino floor not carpet. I may get some fancy digital scales. Def looking trimmer and the tape measure and my clothes are showing results, feel bit bloated today but that's too much diet coke!

SoonToBeMrsB · 03/02/2015 09:07

Morning ladies, sorry I've been so absent but work has been hideously stressful, our deadline was moved by two days and I've been eating on the go and not managing to get to the gym thanks to the amount of overtime I've been pulling. Unpaid too, so there isn't even a financial incentive to do it, the work just needs done Sad

I'm drawing a line and getting back on plan today:

B: 35g porridge with stewed apples, coffee

L: 2x Warburtons sandwich thins with ham and coleslaw, small bowl of soup

D: Tesco "healthy living" sausages, boiled potatoes, veg and gravy

S: Apple, 2x clementines, Activia yoghurt

Dowser · 03/02/2015 09:08

Just read that keeping calories the same you need to run about 35 miles of slow running to lose a pound!

Geez! That's more than a marathon.

gotredonyou · 03/02/2015 09:48

Morning all- Attempting the 5:2 this week so today is my first fast day. I too crave carbs in the winter but think soups are really comforting and warm.

B- Lemon Yoghurt Cambridge Bar, 75g blueberries
L- HM Chicken & Veg soup
D- Hot Cambridge shake, sugar free jelly.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 03/02/2015 10:16

With the diet I'm doing (low carbing) you don't cut calories, lots of lovely fat Grin Plus the protein is keeping me full longer. If I get peckish I have creamed soup, fills me up for ages.

I haven't had a bag of crisps in ages. I'm due AF soon and would normally be craving a bag but I'm not bothered.

I'm just not hungry on a morning and have to force something in. Especially when I'm off to work.

The savoury mince and creamed swede last night was lush. So easy too.

It's chicken crown tonight with creamed cauli and all the veg.

Exercise will have to be a dvd as now I'm back indoors I'm staying in. Dancing tomorrow night. Dog is at my friend's until tonight and ds2 will walk him.

dowser is that with the 3500 calories = a,pound weight loss formula? Which has been widely discredited. I haven't even been counting calories, just watching portion size and trying not too snack too much. Snacking is my downfall! And last month I did 64? Miles of running, I lost about 4-5lb. And 2 and a half inches from my waist. Plus my thighs are more toned etc. It's a visible difference and I haven't actually been that good at not snacking and had a good few, meals out with alcohol etc. I think I am lucky in that as soon as I exercise regularly I do lose weight. But the whole how many calories it takes to gain or lose weight thing is crap, the 3500 figure was a rough estimate and the maths behind it was flawed. It will depend on lots of things, not least your metabolism.

I am going to run with dd in pushchair to collect Madthing4, who will be on his bike, and do a detour via the park where there is s hill! Otherwise I can't run til dp gets home which won't be till at least 7pm and it might be getting cold and icy again by then.
