OK, here we go ... a new thread for a new week. Big fat hairy line drawn underneath last week, and here's to a better week this week.

thank you! I thought it wouldn't come out and would be a mess of wiggly brackets and slashes and dots!!

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 10/10/2006 22:14

NumberNineteen (might have to abbreviate you to No19) it often takes people ages to get the links right. You can check they've worked by previewing your post though. (and you've been sucked in already, haven't you - you were off to walk that dog, but you just can't tear yourself away from Mumsnet )

NumberNineteen · 10/10/2006 22:15

DottyDot the sideplate sounds like a good idea. In the Western world we are so given to large portions and our dinner plates are MASSIVE. The thing is in restaurants etc you get this marvellous white expanse tastefully dotted with spots of sauce and a few choice chunks of fillet steak - but at home the entire thing is covered with macaroni cheese as far as the eye can see. (At my home anyway.)

I think I might make a diet plate for myself - they say the plate is 11 inches and you can see the proportions in the photo - so out with the art kit I think and make my own segments ...

NumberNineteen · 10/10/2006 22:16

Hmmm. Do you have special powers Jackie? The dog is clawing at my leg and I am ignoring him. I can hardly type fast enough to keep up with my thoughts. It's a cult, isn't it?

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 10/10/2006 22:17

Aaah - macaroni cheese as far as the eye can see . Night all. Speak to you tomorrow, no doubt.

NumberNineteen · 10/10/2006 22:22

Good night. Thanks everyone.

suejoneziscalmernow · 10/10/2006 23:01

Blimey I leave you all aloe fr an evening and CHATTING breaks out WITHOUT ME . I've not gone yet you know. (stern look)

suejoneziscalmernow · 10/10/2006 23:06

Oh and NumberNineteen, please don;t fall into the "carbohydrates are poison trap" I can lose weight eating loads of carbs provided I stick to pasta and potato and limit the bread to very wholegrain seedy types and not more than 2 slices a day. You would be at the amount of pasta I can tuck away and still lose weight. However I do have lowish fat toppings - homemade sauces, tomato, bolognese, lemon juice and garlic etc.

Put on weight last week so am a bit embarassed to say all that but ironically it was partly because I wasn't tucking into lovely large plates of home cooked comforting foods but resorting to crap ready meals and takeaway which neither filled me up nor made me happy. Its always the next bar of chocolate or bag of crisps that will make you feel better isn't it?

Dottydot · 11/10/2006 09:26

Agree with Sue - I live on rice and pasta for tea and always a sandwich at lunch time. dp cooks fab tomato/lentil sauces, so pretty healthy - so I can fill my side plate and not feel guilty!!

lemonaid · 11/10/2006 09:36

Hello NumberNineteen!

I stayed the same this week, which was a better result than I'd been expecting (I went off the rails a bit), so I'm happy :-)

Sue, did you know that your life's really going to change now? I do agree that people make those comments when you're pregnant too, so you can feel properly part of the club now...

Dottydot · 11/10/2006 10:04

I can report my 1lb weight loss (phew!).

WigWamBam · 11/10/2006 11:08

Number19, re the emailing thingy ... there's only me has access to the MoFos hotmail account and I don't pass anything onto anyone else, so you don't have to worry on that score. The other ladies will vouch that I've never misused it, sold addresses on, outed them or used it to sell them into slavery or anything like that.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 11/10/2006 11:11

(Can I stop scrubbing this floor now, WWB - I've done my 2 hours?)

.

We even had a mini meet-up in August, so I can confirm that Suejonez, Littlefish and MrsJohnCusack are definitely not hairy-handed truckers. Dunno about the rest of them...

WigWamBam · 11/10/2006 11:14

I am definitely not hairy of hand - pretty hairy everywhere else though but not hairy of hand. Although I've been asked several times on here if I'm a man. And once if I was a gay man [hmmm]

NumberNineteen · 11/10/2006 12:01

It wasn't so much slavery I was thinking of (you wouldn't get a very good price for me anyway). More thinking funny if I turned out to be someone in real life like Jonathon Ross or someone's headmistress. Or the Queen.

I'm not, btw, JR or anyone's headmistress.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 11/10/2006 12:02

You're the Queen then. Blimey. How's it going today?

NumberNineteen · 11/10/2006 12:07

Ah you've twigged my nickname. Yes, nineteenth member of family on the throne, and that was naturally a corgi I was walking last night. Terrible pressure being 14 stone yet constantly having to appear in public as if a mere 10.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 11/10/2006 12:09

But all that hand waving must burn off some calories, mustn't it?

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/10/2006 12:25

"funny if I turned out to be someone in real life" - but you ARE someone in real life. Aren;t you? You're not a virtual reality conscience sent to bug me because I had a bad week last week are you

lemonaid · 11/10/2006 12:42

WWB, if she is the Queen, and you do break your normal rule and sell her into slavery just a little bit, we could probably raise quite a bit of cash...

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 11/10/2006 12:43

Part time slavery, maybe?

WigWamBam · 11/10/2006 12:51

Hmmm ... don't fancy being charged with treason; there's still the death penalty for that, and I'm quite attached to my head thank you very much.

Although it would be a very quick way to lose weight ... hmm.

OP posts:
lemonaid · 11/10/2006 12:52

Apparently there isn't actually a death penalty even for treason any more -- it was on QI. So it's looking like an increasingly good plan...

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 11/10/2006 12:53

I think she's gone - come back NumberNineteen - we're just joking, honest.

lemonaid · 11/10/2006 12:55

Yes, yes, come back [idly fingers bottle of chloroform behind back]
