Standards have slipped!

My little part time job has become almost full time, the kids have been home and it's been too hot to keep my running up. The old healthy eating has slipped too. Sugar has crept in and weight has crept on

So, sept 1st

Weigh
Measure
Start running weekly x 3
Back to bootcamp
Juicing and healthy eating

And I'm going to track the lot on myfitnesspal/mapmyrun/fitbug.com

Oh, and for the first time in going to do the water thing. 2 litres a day. That is new for me but achievable I think

So, gives us about 3 1/2 months til Christmas. Anyone else?

Hi frog, sounds like you will be there before long :)
Let today be a turning point for everyone who is struggling. New Monday, new start.

HeySoulSister · 08/09/2014 07:36

Hi frog and johnny

It's a new week so a new start! Keep trying, you'll get there. Home baking is a pain!! But I do it for the kids. Thank god mine are older so have hordes of mates to make it all disappear very very quickly!

Back on it now... Strictly.... As I also had some wine this weekend.

So, MIL sabotaged my healthy Sunday by giving DH a massive bar of Fruit and Nut to bring back to HK with him, which I promptly scoffed half of whilst watching 24 and drinking wine. It was lovely though- we only get horrible chocolate here - they make it differently to stop it melting. Not worth the calories. Despite that, I did manage to drop 2 lbs this week, which is pretty miraculous and may just be a trick of water retention- I usually have to track over a number of weeks as the exercise means my hydration/glycogen levels vary quite a lot. I was definitely a bit puffy last Monday. Started this week well- went to Crossfit this morning and had a salad and blackberries for lunch. Home made chicken curry and bok choi for dinner. Too knackered to run tonight, so I'm going to bribe DH with the rest of the chocolate to look after the kids tomorrow morning and do it then instead (public holiday here tomorrow).

bakingtins · 08/09/2014 08:07

Lost 1lb. Bit disappointed as (one measly piece of cheesecake aside) I have stuck to diet all week. Still, it's a move in the right direction. Onwards!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 08/09/2014 08:34

You're so right stealth I need to do it today because I'll just have to lose more. Diet starts again today (just had toast and coffee for breakfast, need to go shopping for a healthy lunch.)

drigon · 08/09/2014 08:41

Can I join you all? Going to SW this morning. Need to lose 5 stone! I'm finishing off some Chinese for breakfast( I know, I know!) then full steam ahead. All week's eating planned as per Slimming World.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 08/09/2014 08:43

Thanks soulsister. I will keep trying. After two years of dieting I had expected to be able to eat well by habit but I can see I'm going to have to be mindful forever.

Well done losers. bakingtins I can understand why 1lb is disappointing but if you lost that each week you'd be a stone by Xmas which probably equates to a dress size.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 08/09/2014 08:43

That should read..... A stone lighter by Xmas

drigon · 08/09/2014 09:02

I'm also going for slow and steady. Hoping for a stone off by Christmas.

bakingtins · 08/09/2014 10:10

Thanks johnny I just get a bit frustrated when how much I lose seems to have no correlation with my behaviour. We went on holiday to Holland for 10 days at end of August, I ate nothing but cheese, chocolate and crisps and lost 2lb, having previously stuck to diet for weeks with no change Confused

tiggyhop · 08/09/2014 11:46

Was traveling over weekend and drinking wine Fri night and Sat and Sun :( but back on the straight and narrow now. Will see what Friday weigh in brings. Won't be doing much exercise due to work trip abroad, back Thurs but will try on the eating front!

RunningKatie · 08/09/2014 14:22

Last week was a messy week for me but 1lb down.

DH now working away so i need to stay focussed and away from the chocolate.

Hoping that my DM will watch over kids at least once so I can exercise.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2014 17:43

V good day here, so far. Yoghurt and seeds for breakfast and just radishes, grapes and celery for lunch. Having veggie burgers and salad for dinner (two burgers but just one roll, and various kinds of salad) which means I should be able to get away with a creme caramel for pud!

mummypower123 · 08/09/2014 20:23

a good day today food wise, also had an hour walking and 40 mins on new stepper. Im only lost 1ib this week but better than nothing.

frogbubbles · 08/09/2014 23:50

Thank you for all the lovely welcomes, today has been manic at work so basically survived the day with around 8 coffees, no time for breakfast or lunch. Late tea was salad, wholemeal pitta and soya chicken Kiev. Healthy-ish right?? No snacking after tea, didn't make it to gym, a little gutted about that if only typing was an Olympic sport

AggressiveBunting · 09/09/2014 02:32

After two years of dieting I had expected to be able to eat well by habit but I can see I'm going to have to be mindful forever.

To be honest I think this is the reality for everyone (boring but true). There are very few people who genuinely don't watch what they eat. Some people find it easier than others (my mum, for example, really doesn't have a sweet tooth) and some people care more than others about their aesthetics which makes them more likely to resist the biscuit, but I think the vast majority of people have to deny themselves to some extent in order to remain a healthy weight. We live in an environment which is massively weighted (no pun intended) to steady fat gain, with calorie dense, highly palatable foods pretty much everywhere you look, and very sedentary lifestyles. I do a lot of exercise by today's standards, and for my age, but for 8 hrs a day I just sit at a desk. My gran, by contrast, never did a burpee in her life, but she farmed, and would walk ploughed fields leading the horse for hours, wrestle sheep into the dip, knock in fence posts etc. I reckon her TDEE was way higher than mine, plus she ate fresh, unprocessed food and barely drank. She seems to have got away with smoking unfiltered Grin

HeySoulSister · 09/09/2014 06:37

Got my fitbug on

Somehow scales showed 9lb loss last week!? Must be water

Work today, lots of running round after customers/ up and down ladders/ shifting heavy stock. Then home and need a quick run tonight.

Have a lovely day everyone

bakingtins · 09/09/2014 12:44

Lots of walking today as my middle child has started YR so I now have to do three school runs a day due to ridiculous 2 hrs a day adjustment period plus a dog walk. Porridge for breakfast with some chia seeds (thanks soul and 9lb is amazing!) and blueberries, and tuna salad for lunch. No idea what to cook for dinner - any suggestions anyone?
On a suggestion from someone on another thread after a previous disappointing week when I'd stayed static, I reweighed myself today and am apparently 3lb lighter than yesterday Confused How can that be? Same time in the morning after ablutions, same clothes, scales in same place (and they are new Weightwatchers scales) and I haven't eaten differently. How can your weight vary by so much in 24 hrs?

anothercrackatit · 09/09/2014 13:33

Please may I join? I've just bought new scales and bitten the bullet and weighed myself. Last night it was 13st 1lb (foolish timing!), this morning it was 12st 13 which feels a lot better Grin. My BMI is 28.5. I'd really like to lose 3 stone by Christmas but obviously anything is better than nothing. I've got MFP, a Fitbit and I'm C25K-ing. I'm 37 and basically greedy, lazy and overly fond of the sauce!

anothercrackatit · 09/09/2014 13:35

Bakingtins I think your fluctuation may well be hormonally related? However don't knock it! 3lbs in a day, slimming queen!

bakingtins · 09/09/2014 13:55

Who knows? Not got AF back yet as breastfeeding DD.
If only I could keep it up I'd be at target in a week! Grin

Stealthpolarbear · 09/09/2014 14:22

Struggling today. Ive just had 4 special k bars. Yes I know that's ridiculous. If I manage to not do it again and just have dinner and a small amount of chocolate I should be ok. I must resist the binge...

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 09/09/2014 14:28

bakintins have you measured yourself (waist, hips etc)? I find that there's often a time lag between when you lose weight and when you get thinner. I was on a different thread and a few of us found that. I have also had 'bad' weeks where I've indulged and lost weight and good weeks where I've lost nothing. It will all average out in the end she says hoping the 9lb increase over August is just a 'temporary blip'.

Just read your new update bakin 3lbs is fantastic (I'm not jealous at all!) it's so annoying the body just does unexplainable things when you're on a diet.

I think I have turned things around. I am going to focus on really enjoying my food. So yesterday I had a tiny steak and salad. Dinner is going to be beef fajitas but with tonnes of peppers, just one wrap, a spoon of refried beans, low fat yogurt and avocado. Lucky dh will have the same but with nearly a tin of refried beans. He eats loads and never puts on weight.

I know you're right aggressive I think it's a miracle that anyone is skinny given the temptations and abundance of food we have all around. I sometimes think I'll be on a weightloss thread when I'm in my 80s (if I live that long)

CarbeDiem · 09/09/2014 15:38

Hi all, welcome to new people and well done to those who've kept on and to those who've lost.

I've not updated for a few days so here goes.
I've mostly carried on the sensible eating with the exception of Saturday - I had 3 beers and some blue cheese on a few crackers but other than that stuck to my diet.
The exercising has been hindered because of my back, I'm afraid to do too much in case it goes. I have been walking though (TMI - and plenty of trying to conceive bedroom exercising)

Today I weighed in and measured.
From last monday I've lost 1 kilo and have lost 2 inches from my tummy and 1.5 from my hips. This normally happens when I ditch the wheat and cut carbs down.

Water intake is still not what I'd like it to be but I can work on that a bit more now that I've finished ovulation testing for the month.

So back at it for another week, keep on going ladies X

HeySoulSister · 09/09/2014 19:56

Done ok food wise today. Wanted to do a run tonight but I'm stuck in waiting for a food delivery!
