Standards have slipped!

My little part time job has become almost full time, the kids have been home and it's been too hot to keep my running up. The old healthy eating has slipped too. Sugar has crept in and weight has crept on

So, sept 1st

Weigh
Measure
Start running weekly x 3
Back to bootcamp
Juicing and healthy eating

And I'm going to track the lot on myfitnesspal/mapmyrun/fitbug.com

Oh, and for the first time in going to do the water thing. 2 litres a day. That is new for me but achievable I think

So, gives us about 3 1/2 months til Christmas. Anyone else?

tiggyhop · 25/09/2014 05:30

Reporting a total loss of 4 lbs since sept 1.

HeySoulSister · 25/09/2014 07:58

Well done tiggy

I'm back at work now so aiming to eat a bit better. Carbs were creeping back into my diet in the form of bread. I don't do well when I have bread. And I know this yet I still have it! No, it must stop

The weekend is approaching so I'm making effort to curb the wine too.

Off for a run this morning after school run/before work. Good luck today everyone

tibni trying not to be disappointed that you're not a celeb well you're right, having a camera on you is definitely a motivation. I hope you've had a good couple of days. A friend of mine has kept a pair of trousers from her biggest days and gets them out to remind herself how well she's done. Not sure if that will motivate you but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I have been doing really well then yesterday I fell into a pile of cakes. I seriously binged. It was at a friend's house and we all brought nibbles and I'm embarrassed to say I ate so many that I had a tummy ache from overeating! That hasn't happened to me for ages.

Then my period came today which possibly explains my greedy behaviour yesterday. Think I might be avoiding the scales for a few days. Dd2 had also been waking me up really early so I am a bit sleep deprived too.

Today has been good so far, jacket potato with prawns for lunch. Salad tonight. Dh is working late tonight so I just know he'll wake me up coming in. Gah!

CarbeDiem · 25/09/2014 18:34

Well done Tiggy.

Write it off Johnny, make up for it by eating super healthy the rest of the week. I do that sometimes - if I feck up and eat something naughty, instead of concentrating on daily calorie intake I'll do it over 1 week to try and make me see it's no biggy.

I've just posted a big long thread in the correct area but today I appear to have quit smoking Shock
Not planned nor even thought about recently but yesterday I got the feeling that I just HAD TO.
So this morning - on went the patch and out came the inhaler puffer thingy - it's going Okay, the patch is working but it's early days so we'll see if I can keep it up.
I'm not impressed that it will probably affect my weight but definitely for the best that I'm controlling my food at the moment anyway so hopefully just a few lbs will creep on :)

Right back at it, I'm off for a walk to breathe some fresh air with my toxin free (er) lungs :) :)

AggressiveBunting · 26/09/2014 03:14

Johnny Agree with Carbe- one slip up does not a bad week make. I have 2 kids' parties this weekend. My kids are still at "parent stays" age and the hosts generally provide wine/champagne and adult snacks. It's a weird combination of festivity and boredom that makes me think "I must eat all these snacks and drink this wine". I will try not to, especially as have a friend's bday party Saturday night which is steak/frites.

Carbe do you mean an e-cig? My friend got off 40 a day using that. He now smokes the ecig constantly but the doctor said it's much better that he's still a nicotine addict and not smoking actual fags Grin.

CarbeDiem · 26/09/2014 04:04

Aggressive - No not an E-Cig, I can't get away with them. It's just a small piece of plastic, cig like, that you put a nicotine soaked cartridge inside. When you need some nicotine you suck on it as you would a real cig and it delivers a controlled amount of nicotine to your blood stream. It tastes awful but seems to be helpful. It's also giving me something to do with my hands, which I need at this point, so I hold it like a real cig and hold it for a few mins like I would if I was really smoking.
What doesn't appear to be helpful is leaving a patch on overnight. I've woken up and can't get back to sleep, my temperature is all over the place Angry
It's coming off in the next 10 minutes so I can try to sleep again.

bakingtins · 26/09/2014 11:21

good for you carbe and good luck with quitting!

I'm going to a social 'bring a pudding' evening tonight and making peanut brownies which are just delicious. Need to pack a lot of self control!

CarbeDiem · 26/09/2014 19:17

Thanks.
Whoo! Today off the fags wasn't as easy but I've got through.
Food wise - all good.
Porridge for breakfast
Dinner was Pork steaks and onions braised in beef and mushroom stock with lots of veg.
Yoghurt and fruit after.
Water OK but I'm drinking more herbal tea's due to not allowing myself coffee except for my morning 2 (coffee = cigs you see)
Had a lovely long walk earlier.
Oh and I can comfortably fit into my size 12 (but more like a 14) SkinnyISH jeans :) I appear to have lost the love handles on my sides and back, there's currently minimal overhang shame the front is following :)

Have a great weekend all X

CarbeDiem · 26/09/2014 19:18

Gah! Shame the front is NOT following. :)

bakingtins · 26/09/2014 19:31

I'm feeling good today, I did another HIIT session last night ( following video) then gym for vibrocise this morning. I tried a new recipe for dinner which was really nice, fairly cheap and one pot - result! You fry an onion and skinless boneless chicken thighs until sealed, add a pint of stock and new potatoes and simmer for half an hour. Chuck in a load of green veg (spring onions, broccoli, spring greens, peas) and cook for 5-10 mins then stir through a big dollop of pesto. Worked well for me to have a light on potato serving and lots of veg, with more carbs for everyone else.
I'm not giving you the chocolate peanut cake recipe, oh no, not even if you beg Grin I tried a very small bit for quality control purposes Blush and will restrict myself to one pudding at this evening's shindig.

CarbeDiem · 26/09/2014 20:05

chocolate peanut cake

Dinner sounds nice Baking, enjoy your night.

HeySoulSister · 26/09/2014 20:09

Yummy! I'm making Mary berry lemon drizzle cake on Sunday.... A request from the kids

But running club first! And I ran 5 miles yesterday. So feel like I'm getting plenty of exercise in

Food wise.... Hit and miss. No wine tonight for me

OP posts:
carriewintermeadow · 26/09/2014 20:10

Haven't done much walking recently due to feeling really ill with a cold, but today I got out with the dog for 40 mins in the sunshine.

Still managing to eat well. Had a cheese and tomato omelette for breakfast, a small slice of home made banana loaf for lunch and for dinner chicken in a spicy tomato sauce with roasted Mediterranean vegetables Smile

AggressiveBunting · 27/09/2014 05:37

I'm in so much pain. 20km run with new running partner who was a wee bit faster than I expected. Being super competitive I was forced to give chase. Glutes, calves and quads now officially dead. I just want to crawl into bed for an afternoon nap but got toddler party hell instead. My willpower to reject the cake is low Grin and my willpower to reject the wine is even lower. As someone said ' get behind me Satan... And give me a push'

HeySoulSister · 27/09/2014 07:34

20k.... Wow well done! I prefer running alone, but don't push myself at all, so easy to slacken off the pace!

Just had my new bed delivered so I'm up early.

OP posts:
bakingtins · 27/09/2014 08:16

I managed not to eat all the cake just one piece of mine and some fruit Smile and drove so no temptation to drink. Damage limited....

carriewintermeadow · 27/09/2014 11:35

I'm quite happy that, despite being alone in the house with a freshly baked banana loaf, I managed to only have one slice. Smile

Weighed myself again this morning, and I'm down 1 and a quarter lbs in 3 days Smile Smile and half an inch off my waist again Smile

Saturday brunch: bacon and eggs Smile

CarbeDiem · 27/09/2014 16:14

You deserve wine and a small piece of cake after 20km Aggressive Shock

Happy new bed Soul, hope it's comfy.

Well done resisting Baking.

Congrats on the loss Carrie.

Forgive me losers for I have sinned - technically I haven't yet but I'm going to Shock
I have indulged today in 3 marcepan sweeties and 3 plum sweeties. They are both favourites of mine and today while shopping Dh filled a huge bag, luckily mostly stuff I don't like and I stood and weighed out my 6 little sweets :)

Otherwise all ok.
Nutribullet blitz for breakfast with a few pieces of healthy flapjack thingy I made to pick at (instead of smoking and I'm sick of looking at carrot strips and pickled onions/gherkins)
For lunch I wasn't really hungry so just ate some beef flavoured spring cabbage that needed finishing.
Dinner will be Cod, roast pots and feta salad with a lemon/olive oil dressing.
I've drank lots today due to the fact I've been spoon feeding myself milled Flax seeds (TMI- I can't go to the loo - psychological I think as I usually always 'go' with a ciggy :) ) So I'm shovelling everything in that can help.

Went for a long walk to the farmers market then to the shopping centre.
I've been hunting for some herb called Cleaver - can't find it here.
Dh needs it to flush out his lymphatic system as his nodes are raised quite badly - apparently it works wonders. Will keep looking but for now I've made him crushed raw cloves of garlic mixed with strong honey - he must eat 2 spoons daily :) and some Echinacea capsules. The other alternatives are steroids which he's fed up of taking or Apple cider vinegar but he's allergic to the yeast in it. His lymph nodes are swollen because he's allergic to wheat but still bloody eats it sometimes. Hmm

CarbeDiem · 27/09/2014 16:16

*Sorry Marzipan sweets that should say, I've used the Polish word :)

VashtaNerada · 27/09/2014 17:48

Two bad days! Friday had a work do with a lovely three-course meal and free champagne Smile (I don't normally get treats like that so it's a big deal for me!!) and today I've been tired, hungry and don't have much shopping in so my diet has been 90% biscuits. Bought a stir-fry for tonight and plenty of fruit to snack on now. Have probably mucked up my Monday weigh-in though. Oh well.

HeySoulSister · 27/09/2014 18:11

It's been 'bread' day here Hmm

Walnut and raisen rolls to be precise! And toast this morning. I will pay for it later! Sorted and stored all summer stuff today. And sorted new bed out.

Too much coffee as well.

OP posts:
CarbeDiem · 27/09/2014 18:47

Vash - change your weigh in day - to give you a chance to pull it back ;)

Walnut and raisin roll sounds worth it Soul ;)

Come on ladies, back in the zone tomorrow.
A moment on the lips ........ :)

VashtaNerada · 27/09/2014 18:58

Change my weigh day Shock Controversial. Okay, I'm going to do it. I'm going to throw caution to the wind and declare that henceforce it shall be Wednesday!

bakingtins · 27/09/2014 19:25

I reckon we all should weigh Tuesday or Wednesday this week and see how much we've collectively lost during September, and review or reset our goals for October.

CarbeDiem · 27/09/2014 20:36

Well done Vash, good decision. That'll teach the lingering calories damn bastards :)

I was weighing in on Tuesdays but last week I think I did it Thursday due to my monthly. Will do Tues/Weds next week.
I'm going to have to step it up I think after I complete this first week of no smoking hell. I'm trying not to snack too much and what I'm eating is quite healthy, except todays naughtiness but even without eating most people will still put on a few kilos when they stop smoking, tis mother nature's way bitch
It couldn't be the other way, could it - you know to actually reward you for stopping - No! that's apparently too much to ask :)

Keep on going ladies X
