Howdoes the hula hooping work? Does it whittle your waist down quickly?

trikken · 22/08/2014 11:34

Smile It does make your waist much smaller but it isnt the quickest thing. You do noticeably look smaller round the middle fairly quickly though. I must warn you though you will feel a bit bruised for a few days after the first few times of using it, but that is the same as getting used to any new exercise really. I do really enjoy it.

MrsDesperado · 22/08/2014 22:37

Lunar I'm having a bad week too, it has involved pizzas and cheese toasties and crisps and haribos and buttered toasted tea cakes and chocolate doughnuts and hobnobs and wine. Now I've written that down I can see how bad it is!! I was doing so well but have slipped recently and am struggling to get back on track...

I didn't lose anything last week either twobambinos, it's rubbish when you've tried hard and are not rewarded.

I might have to get a hula hoop too! Anything that will make my waist smaller is worth the effort - does it really really do this?

MrsDesperado · 22/08/2014 22:39

Hope things went alright in court change and you're ok Flowers Wine

MrsDesperado · 23/08/2014 09:43

Today is a new day.

Just come back from a 6 mile run, it was though but worth it. Eating out at the pub today so hopefully the run will negate some of the damage! Feeling a bit bloated after the past week's excesses, time to reign in the eating again.

Have a good weekend everyone!

lunar1 · 23/08/2014 10:06

Wow, brilliant start to the weekend Mrs, I can't wait till I'm light enough to brave running. I walk a lot but my main exercise is still swimming. I don't want to wreck my knees running while I'm still this heavy.

Trying to be good today and have just had a bowl of blackberries for breakfast, in view of the Chinese buffet tonight.

Mojito100 · 23/08/2014 12:01

Ladies I feel like I have had a bad week. Cake, muffins and chocolate. I'm not even PMT. It's small amounts but I just don't think I've been healthy at all. Tomorrow I have friends over so that is a write off. I'll start again Monday. Bugger.

twobambinos · 23/08/2014 13:46

Snap mrsdesperado 10 km done today. Weetabix with milk for breakfast. Think going to chipper now with hubby tho so hope the 10km balances tbays out.
keep up the good work ladies have a lovely weekend.

lunar1 · 23/08/2014 14:10

Can someone pop over and stitch my mouth shut?!

twobambinos · 23/08/2014 17:45

Oh lunar :) i felt a but like that this week. Youngest dd has a bad night time cough so plenty of sleepless nights and felt i was eating and drinking coke non stop.

u will get back on track very soon i hope.

lunch went fine we went to a pub had a han and cheese sandwich on granary. Not too bad i think

dinner was green beans chicken breast and garlic cheesy creamy potatoe gratin with a can of coke not so good. Id say with the run today i will just about break even after that meal. As long as i don't start snacking later ??

lunar1 · 24/08/2014 11:37

I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed for staying the same this week. I didn't do too bad at the Chinese last night but felt bloated and horrible after. It was so greasy compared to the food I've been eating recently. One more meal out today then I'll get myself back on track tomorrow.

IScreamForIceCream · 24/08/2014 13:19

Tomorrow is another day, lunar ! It's amazing how quickly food we'd previously have happily eaten just feels 'wrong', isn't it?

I'm doing okay, I think. I'm just coming to the end of my period and usually I'd have eaten a hundredweight of biscuits, but really haven't this time. I did weigh myself this morning and have put on 1/2 pound, so that was quite disappointing, but hopefully that will vanish soon. Well, I really really hope so, anyway! It's a bit galling to realise just how much weight I'd piled on so quickly, and all through eating junk. I still weigh much more than I did 1 year ago, but at least it's going broadly in the right direction now. And I fit into a bra that I'd not fit into for a few months, so that's good.

Bit bored of cottage cheese though! It sounds so retro but a pot of that is an easy food for me to get protein and calcium in without too many cals.

IScreamForIceCream · 24/08/2014 13:20

Forgot to say - am so inspired by all the exercise on this thread!

trikken · 24/08/2014 19:31

Not a good food day. Had a burger and chips for lunch, no proper dinner but just had a scone and popcorn. The worst thing is I didn't even enjoy the scone or popcorn. Was too sweet and claggy. I did only have a little bit of popcorn. Will have a better day tomorrow.

lunar1 · 25/08/2014 07:44

After a horrendous week I have lost half a pound. I knew I hadn't done well so should be glad that I've lost anything but I'm still disappointed. The next two weeks are going to be really hard as the children are still off and we don't really have many activities planned. Which usually leads to baking and snacking in the kitchen.

trikken · 25/08/2014 08:37

Thats my trouble too. Its much easier when the kids are at school.

A good start today, black coffee and 30g shreddies with skimmed milk.

hollyisalovelyname · 25/08/2014 08:45

Thank you Trikkem.
I've tried to use it but I'm hopeless at it. Perseverence I suppose.

trikken · 25/08/2014 09:00

It does does take practice but all of a sudden it will click. I love it now as I can grab it and hula hoop for a minute or so in between doing other things.

lunar1 · 25/08/2014 17:53

I'm joining the hula hooping fun an have ordered one today, not convinced I'll be able to do it!

I've also been through my wardrobe and had a big sort out. I have enough clothes in size 18 that fit now so all the 20's have gone into bags to take to the charity shop tomorrow.

I have more 18's that don't fit and quite a lot of things in a 16, so plenty to go before I need to start shopping. I have hung up a lovely top and trousers on the front of my wardrobe that don't quite fit yet to keep me motivated.

trikken · 26/08/2014 11:36

Thats really good lunar. I've just done a massive sort out. I hate getting rid of pretty stuff but no point keeping it if it doesnt fit any more. But on the plus I've bought myself a lovely dress for my birthday in a couple of weeks in a size I'd never imagined I'd be able to get into.

Mojito100 · 26/08/2014 15:11

Ladies thought I would say I weighed in yesterday and was at 79.1kg which is up from 78.8kg last week. No surprise as I ate lots of cakes and things. I haven't looked at the thread for a few days so need to get back into the swing if things. Good luck all.

twobambinos · 27/08/2014 09:19

morning ladies,

have lost 1/2 a pound this week. not much but a loss all the same. hopefully next week will be better. i did eat alot of rubbish just finding things a bit tough at the minute.
the 2 classes i usually go to are not on this week or next so i will have to try and get a bit of exercise in somewhere else.

anyone else bruised from hula hooping and i mean bruises u can physically see. i know this wears off after a while i suppose u develop a thicker skin but how long does it take?

keep up the good work everyone. trikken congrats on the birthday dress. lunar well done on the clear out. it always feels good to make way for new stuff doesnt it.

mojito dont worry too much u will be back on track in no time at all.

trikken · 27/08/2014 10:21

I didnt have any visible ones, but certainly felt bruised for a while. I cant really remember how long it was, but definitely felt achey for the first few proper goes.

lunar1 · 27/08/2014 12:51

Well done in the loss two bambinos. I went for a swim for an hour this morning I can already feel it on my arms. I managed 40 lengths.

My hula hoop arrived and I can't do it, no surprise there. It seems huge. I wonder if is be better with a child's one!!

trikken · 27/08/2014 13:15

Has it got sections? I took one bit out to start with then added it back in when I could do it without the section.
