Hi all, ive lost another lb so 3.5 in total :)

Well done everyone, we are getting there....

MrsD, would love to start running again. The problem is my calves tighten up very quickly and this leads to achilles strain or pulled calf muscles. ..ouch. Have some good running shoes so not sure if they contribute or not. Really miss it, the feeling after a good run is fantastic! Dont know what to do about it, my age probably doesnt help (mid 40s now) plus im not very good at remembering to stretch or foam roller my muscles. Have you any advice, would be great to get out again!

Thanks mojito, as long as I look ok in clothes I'll be happy. I think my arms will be a problem though!

Well done change, you are getting there.

Mojito100 · 12/08/2014 11:22

Great work change keep going.

Mojito100 · 12/08/2014 12:01

By the way not a great day for food. Things still hectic so didn't get breakfast. Had 2 coffees then late lunch of pork roll with homemade applesauce. Had one fajita made at home. No water so just guzzling that now. The trick tonight will be to stay away from snacks.

trikken · 12/08/2014 13:41

Ok so far food wise. As long as I don't slip up after work I should be fine.

changeeverything · 12/08/2014 19:26

Lunar, maybe start doing some weights, then u will hopefully build muscles as you lose fat. Helps pull everything in!!

I'm joining the gym next month when my boys are back at school. I think I get a free session with a personal trainer so I'll ask how to use the machines.

changeeverything · 12/08/2014 21:31

The personal trainer session will be v useful, ask them about using free weights too. I didnt use a lot of weights before but now im a complete convert to strength training! It is so good for toning up :)

Hadca good day yesterday. Didnt give in to dh's offer of making me a fry up. Just had toast with tomato puree on. Weird I know but it makes a change from marmite or just butter and stops me snacking mid day.

twobambinos · 13/08/2014 08:31

Im a bit late to this party but would it still be ok to join?
have about 10 pounds to lose maybe 11. Just fell blaa at the moment. I do quite a bit of exercise but as a full time sahm i find it hard to not snack alot during the day and am constantly eating rubbish.
congrats to all those who have lost so far.

nilbyname · 13/08/2014 08:48

I'm back from my holidays in France.

I ate loads and loads of cheese and drank masses of wine and beer. It was great! But I did cycle a bit and probably did 100 miles over 10 days. One day I did about 30, and that's all with my almost 3 year old dd on the back. I came home and was 9.2. But 5 days later no booze and some healthy choices and back to the gym (which was a killer!) back to 8.13.

My ideal weight is 8.6, not sure if I will ever get there though!

Welcome all the newbies!

Dotty, good luck in your new home on Cardiff.
Lunar, sounds like your doing really well
Mrs desperado, throw out the Oreos!
Change, still working like a machine!

nilbyname · 13/08/2014 08:50

This has been my breakfast since I've been home-

Greek yogurt, handful of raspberries from the allotment, half a mango, a sprinkling of granola on top. Very yum!

Anyone want to join me to lose 10lbs??
nilbyname · 13/08/2014 08:53

For supper last night I had a yotam ottelenghi dish-

Cauliflower with capers, prunes, saffron and red onion with use cheese sprinkled on at the end. It was delicious and low carb!

twobambinos · 13/08/2014 09:03

Nilbyname that brekkie sounds fab. Well done on not gaining on hols. Im home a month and am 4 lbs heavier than i was before i went but i have been on a permanent holiday for the past month ??

off to read some more of the thread ...

twobambinos · 13/08/2014 09:09

Change everything would you consider going to a physio even for one session. They would be able to give you exercises targeted at the areas which affect you.
for me its my pelvis and hips that act up when im running and i do find they are less aggravated when i do the moves theyve given me.

IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 09:36

Gosh you're all doing so well. I am reading your updates and getting inspired and motivated.

I have REALLY cut down what I eat (I was the one who ate ALL the biscuits, daily...), and am sticking to the 1200 cals on mfp or just over if I have done exercise. It's been 2 weeks now and I've lost about 1.5 pounds max. And I started when I was on my period, so at my fattest. I really think it should be more! I'd struggle to eat less and still function every day.

I'm definitely logging accurately - eg I am weighing foods - any thoughts as to why I'm not seeing results?

IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 09:38

dotty - hope waking up in your new home today was lovely!

twobambinos · 13/08/2014 11:22

Iscreamforicecream - i think they say when you are close enough to goal weight it comes off slower. Would this apply? Also are u drinking plenty of fluid personally i find when in dehydrated my body just gains. Try not to get disheartened at least it's a loss and not a gain. Keep up the good work

IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 16:35

Am I close to my goal weight? Erm, no Grin
But thanks for the thought, anyway! Also, I drink loads and loads of water, always have done.

Hey ho, I guess it took me a lot of months of biscuits to put on the weight, so it'll take a while for it to go.

changeeverything · 13/08/2014 18:58

Hi iscream and nil, welcome back!

Hi twobambinos, welcome :)
Ive been down the physio route several times and still am prone to same old injuries :(
The personal trainer at the gym had me doing ankle matrix exercises so I might try those again. And I need to remember to warm up, I normally just head out the door and go for it lol!

Hope you all had a good day. My healthy eating is slipping a bit, going back to daily recording on mfp. And will confess on here too if necessary so you can all steer me back on plan x

Just weighed myself on the wii and I've lost 8lb apparently. Now 10st 2. Am impressed but havebeen doing a fair bit of hula hooping.

ChocolateWombat · 14/08/2014 09:50

Hi. I decided to do this around May time. I was 9stone and 5foot 2. I aimed to lose half a stone to 10 lb.
Tbh I don't really do any exercise. I have always eaten lots of sweets and choc, so cut those down to just one sweet a day and the main thing I did was the reduce my portion size, particularly the carb aspect of it. Didn't have snacks between meals.
Of course there are always meals out and other things to de rail you, but I had whatever I fancied at those events, but just tried not to totally pig out, as I might usually do at a buffet etc.
Tended to lose 1 to 2 lb per week and reached 8 st 5lb by mid July.
Now had a couple of holidays involving lots of food etc so am around 8 st 7lb, and aiming to remain between 8st 4lb and 8st 8lb.

I didn't find it a horrific experience and once I was a couple of weeks in, I was keen to keep the gains I had made. I think allowing yourself the odd treat and not aiming to lose silly amounts in a tiny timeframe is good. Bad foods are fine, if small amounts and not too often. It's got to be sustainable.

changeeverything · 14/08/2014 10:33

Well done, chocolatewombat! It's definitely all about being sensible with portions and where possible reducing simple carbs.

Im not following my own advice, had really awful last couple days foodwise. Been carb-city here...think im just feeling like a pre-menstrual binger, im dreadful at this totm for carbs!!

Im going to post my daily foods again here (not going to give full details of yesterday though, but will confess it did involve some wine and many packets of mini cheddars)

So far today:
porridge with raspberries and flaxseed, coffee

going to drink lots of water and green tea

lunch will be mackerel and beetroot salad

dinner will be honemade chilli con carne, veg and a small portion of rice

no booze!

please everybody, get me back on track!
