SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

DarkAlleyBongo · 26/10/2006 17:24

hello all, hi ledogy I lost 1 1/2 lb in my first week. Was pleased as I couldn't afford to go shopping so had to eat all the crap from my cupboards

lurcherlass · 26/10/2006 21:16

thanks for the password girls. I had a day off yesterday, starting with a pasta lunch at the pub with my mate and in the evening, a thai meal with the girls from work. All rounded off by 2 large glasses of wine and I enjoyed every guilt-free morsel Hee hee. back on the diet today with renewed enthusiasm after such a delicious "break". Must go down to the vets next week and discover the truth.....

SusiSkelletonInTheCloset · 27/10/2006 06:44

morning!
you are doing great ladies - keep it up!!

lol lurcherlass makes me always smile your 'walk to the vets'

i am not having a great time atm
first ds was ill, then recovered and dd was ill - now she's allrightish and i've got that silly cold - and with all that lack of sleep i was so exhausted and needed lots of sugar boosts
but i am trying really hard to get that under control again - but once you've started it's just soooooo hard!!!
was doing much better yesterday though; had all the goodies ready next to me while watching tv in the evening and had only 2 small pieces of chocolate

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 27/10/2006 09:15

Morning!
Well done DarkAllyBongo!

Walk to the vets???..is that like cos you dread going to get weighed or am i way off mark???

oh an muller light??..they dont specify in my book?..got a cherry one, mandarin and apple pie..which are free and which are not??

ta girls

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 28/10/2006 12:16

Nice one Bongo!
Well I had about a million syns worth of alcohol last night I was good at the start and drank vodka and diet coke until I was pissed enough to dance and then realised it's near impossible to dance with a plastic glass of vodka and diet coke so went onto bottles of beer and at some point was even drinking an alcopop oh yeah and I had a shot of Aftershock too I'm hoping the dancing will even it out I didn't get in till around 4am in my day the lights came on at two so you knew it was time to go home but not anymore they stay open till six so I had no concept of time! I have to be really good for the rest of the week now otherwise I won't have lost a thing.

Rooicosta · 28/10/2006 15:26

Ledodgy - Your night out sounds wicked! Particularly liked the bit about the dancing, lol! I don't know how you managed to stay on your feet until 4am. If I have a few glasses of wine it makes me sooooo tired that I almost fall asleep on the spot! Ha!

Strawberry - The Batchelors savoury rice packets (dried) are all still free. Becareful with supermarket own brands as some of these aren't. Most of the P.I.S are free except the one's I've mentioned previously
Most of the Mullerlight's are free except the Apple pie, Strawberry Cheesecake & Cherry Bakewell which are all 1 syn. The Sticky Toffee Pudding (Yum), Lemon Cheesecake and Rhubarb Crumble are all 1/2 synn each.
I'm not sure about your Chick Pea Dahl cos I don't know what make you have got but BEWARE Morrisons Chicken Curry Mild canned 392g is 11 syns on original! Morrisons Chicken & vegetable curry canned is 9 syns and Chicken and Veg in a mild curry sauce Bettabuy 400g is 8.5 syns.
Hope this helps!

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 28/10/2006 15:36

Lol I must have still been a bit drunk earlier I seem to have posted the longest sentence ever!

lurcherlass · 29/10/2006 16:38

Hi Strawberry! just to put you in the picture, I dont have any scales, so I go down to the vets for a weigh-in. There is a chart up on the wall, when I started I was in the large rottweiler band, but now, I am proud to say I am a medium labrador, which is quite apt, as I have an appetite like one LOL

intergalacticwerewolf · 29/10/2006 16:49

Oh God, I was really bad Thursday and Friday. I ate my own body weight in biscuits on Thursday, and had Fish and Chips on Friday. Urgh! I did do alot of walking on those days, however, but I don;t think it'll have made much difference. Still, I have been good the last 2 days, so hopefully, it will show on Tuesday at my weigh in!

Also, I have a goo incentive to drop the weight, as DP has just asked me to marry him!!!!!!!!

Rooicosta · 29/10/2006 17:52

Congratulations Intergalactic on your engagement! That's fabulous news!

I have had such a shocking weekend with takeaway's galore...going out soon for a chinese meal too! So, I've decided to just move on from the bad weekend and start the week afresh tomorrow. I think Monday way-ins will be better anyway.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 29/10/2006 19:26

lurcherlass..LOL...think i must be a st bernard or two!....cool and fun way to get weighed!

intergalacticwerewolf ..congratualtions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rooicosta..my little angel..thankyou for the sins and heads up!..im sure i used to eat that chicken curry??..will have to ask old consultant!

still got S&D..been on just water today!

Rooicosta · 29/10/2006 20:32

Strawberry

Sorry to hear you still have S&D - hope you feel better soon. Make sure you keep up your strength by eating well though!

MorticiaRed · 29/10/2006 20:34

Congratulations, Intergalacticwerewolf and partner! x

BethAndHerBrood · 29/10/2006 20:36

Hello ladies. Is it okay for me to join in??

Been going to sw for ages, just had a baby, and am really motivated again. My class is on a thursday morning, and my biggest problem is DH bringing lovely stuff home!!

lurcherlass · 30/10/2006 12:42

Welcome Beth! you will find this a freindly and supportive site. I'm sure you will do well with SW, best wishes for your weight loss.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 30/10/2006 13:01

hi all

S&D seems to be waining now..fingers crossed..havent actually wanted anything to eat regardless that i was told to starve for 48 hours...
went to SW this morn..had to use diff room as other one being used for function..scales on carpet instead of flooring and each time i moved they changed..they went from me being 15st10lb to 16st 12lb(i was 16st 6 last week)..so after playing lets move the scales around the room..she put down 2lb!!!!!! and said if i have done well!!(ive been sitting through the eye of a needle all week!!) itll show next week!..when i questioned her she sadi theres not much else she could do!
am not amused as i think i would have lost at least double that and although im ok, that would be big enough to make someone think..no food all week and just 2lb..sod it and gorge..am annoyed she hadnt botherd to sort scales out first..and one woman went in whod had boozy/eating week according to scales(she must have stood stiller than me!) lost 6 1/2lb!
was v.pleased for her, but about accuracy of scales p
sses me off!

lurcherlass · 30/10/2006 17:58

Hi Strawberry, I am really sorry you had a dissapointing weigh in, especially as you are so lovely and encouraging to everyone else. I think it makes a huge difference if scales are on carpet or hard floor. My freind who's a nurse said your smaller-than-expected loss could be because you are storing a lot of water. Apparently, when we've had V+D, our clever old body hangs on to every bit of moisture it can, so we don't get dehydrated, which can happen really easily. I bet next week you will have lost loads. Keep your motivation up,lol, I love reading your posts, especially the ones with the

StrawberryMoon · 30/10/2006 19:26

oh what a lovely post Lurcherlass..taking the time to speak to someone about it..thankyouyour very kind!

ive had green day today as nurse reccomended starchy foods when i started eating again, so had small jacket with beans for lunch, then (maybe not such a good option??) savory rice and chickpea dahl for dinner..dp was watching me, expecting me to leg it back to loo..but am very full being that ive not eaten for few days and green days do fill me anyway..had my sins and bought coke zero instead of full fat now tummy is on mend

Mumbojumbo · 30/10/2006 23:24

Eek - stayed the same this week.....I thought it was going so well too. Still it's 1stone 12lbs....just want to get to 2stone.....Must get to the gym this wekk.

intergalacticwerewolf · 31/10/2006 13:10

Hello all,

Strawberry, don;t worry, I'm sure it will show next week. Inaccurate scales are a pisser aren't they?

Well, I went to meeting this morning and lost 1lb, which makes a total of 1 stone 6lbs, so I am chuffed. Going to go for the 1.5 stone award next week, shouldn't be too difficult!

StrawberryMoon · 31/10/2006 18:14

intergalacticwerewolf and mumbojumbo..[grin
..well done that loss is fab

wells tarted sw well again yesterday..but....S&D back today???..went to docs, but may as well not have as she just asked same questions nhs direct asked, but gave me an anti biotic to shut me up.feel terrible ..had 5 of dd's tiny choc ghosy's(smaller than roses) and 1/2 a cheese sandwhich

BethAndHerBrood · 31/10/2006 21:19

I got told today that I looked really slim!!

However, I know for a fact that I don't!!! What she probably meant was I lok slimmer than I did, but it made me feel good! I had my "feeling good" outfit on. Always makes me feel brill and slim when I wear it.

Not had a brilliant week, foodwise, but not disasterous either, I don't think! I'm breastfeeding, so I find that means I can be a bit naughty without it making a huge difference!!
