New week, new thread ...

OP posts:
JackieNo · 12/09/2006 07:08

Welcome back, ipodthereforeIpoor - totally agree with suejonez, and can I just say, do stick with us even if you do happen to fall off the wagon again - we pretty much all seem to do it, to a greater or lesser degree, and talking to the rest of the BigMoFos does seem to help get a sense of perspective on it, and makes it easier to get back on the wagon. Good to have you back.

iPodthereforiPoor · 12/09/2006 08:26

ah you guys!! I think our mumtobeSueJones got it right about the not feeling good enough thing - because I hit a plateau and wasn't doing anything weight wise I thpught "sod it" "i'm never going to do it, so why try". I kept up with the gym and swimming but not as hard as I was doing.

So, this morning is the first day of my new life!! - Back to the good old gym to get my workout toughened up, and I won't go shopping afterwards. Does anyone find that they reward exercise with food. I have such a stupid thought pattern associated withit ie "I've been so good and cycled 5miles and cross-trainered a mile, so I'm going to eat a bag of cakes..."

So, I'll check in later on and let you know how I do - I'm expecting this to hurt because I have really just been sticking to my comfort zone at the gym - I'm really going to push myself today (but not so hard as to need medical ttention from the fit gym instructor!

JackieNo · 12/09/2006 10:14

Bit of mouth-to-mouth might not go amiss, eh. I know exactly what you mean, and not just about exercise - if I've been 'good' in the amount of/type of food I've eaten, I feel as if I can 'reward' myself with something unhealthy. I guess in a way, this is actually a rational thing to do, but it's only possible to do it once we've lost the weight and are trying to maintain our lower weight. It's in some ways, the way that thinner people eat, but in reverse - 'normal' is to eat sensibly, and if they eat 'bad' food, they cut down afterwards to balance it out. We just do it the wrong way round, iyswim.

heavenis · 12/09/2006 10:27

I'm ready to join again. I started posting when you first started.
Anyway I am now in a much better frame of mind and have got my determination back. (disappeared for along while)
Since 4/9 I have not drunk any alcohol and I am following slimming world and in my first week have lost 7lb,this has motivated me to carry on. I will be smaller than I am for my next holiday. I want to do it for me.

JackieNo · 12/09/2006 13:40

Wow heavenis - that's brilliant - and welcome back.

TitianRed · 12/09/2006 19:00

Hi, everyone! As I mentioned on Sunday, I started my diet yesterday but will make my weigh-in day Weds to fit in with you all. Going well so far. Too knackered from work to do my Davina dvd (which we were doing regularly after Christmas)but I am rushing around all day, so hopefully that will help. My gorgeous DH will do the dvd with me 2x per week, which is my aim to start with. I work part-time, so hopefully will have more NRG on my days off! Look fwd to chatting more 2mrw once my DCs are tucked up.

TitianRed · 12/09/2006 19:02

BTW Heavenis - congratulations on such a great weight loss and no alcohol too! Well done!

JackieNo · 12/09/2006 21:10

Hi TitanRed, good on you for doing any sort of exercise. I know it would really help me, but I'm struggling to fit any into my life at the moment - maybe you'll inspire me.

suejoneziscalmernow · 12/09/2006 22:11

I traipsed all teh way to the pool today to find it shut because someone had been sick in it (a child I'm assuming) so had to traipse all the way home again.

I really don;t have much spare time at the moment and my diet is a little precarious so I was really feeling virtuous that I'd gone swimming. Ah well not much I can do about that now I guess. Tomorrows weigh in could be "interesting" for me - I feel that I have eaten normally, will be interesting to see if I can maintain my weight on what I consider a normal diet.

Fauve · 13/09/2006 10:19

Oh bad luck, SJ - I hate it when that happens - but at least it didn't happen while you were in the pool, yuuuuuk! Maybe the traipsing burnt off some calories?

suejoneziscalmernow · 13/09/2006 11:17

my mother who came with me (she needs the exercise more than I do if you can believe that!) said "well at least you're not sitting around at home for hal an hour" errr, as opposed to sitting around in the car?!

I was more p'd off becasue I was tired and didn't really want to go but dragged myself there. will try again tonight...

Fauve · 13/09/2006 11:49

Good luck - do you enjoy it when you get there? You can imagine doing it with Jones Junior fairly shortly

suejoneziscalmernow · 13/09/2006 13:06

just weighed - not bad - have stayed the same. Thats a good sign isn't it? That I thought I had eaten fairly normally and didn't either lose or put on, am I beginning to understand what "normal" is? surely not!

schneebly · 13/09/2006 13:13

Hi guys - well done to all of you who have stayed on the wagon and lost weight or stayed the same. I am definitely back this time and started this morning - fresh fruit salad for breakfast and beans on toast for lunch. We are having extra lean steak mince with new potatoes and veg for dinner so that is okay too. I am feeling determined because my clothes are getting tight again and every pound I lost on here has gone back on I will get it off! I will! I dont care how long it takes as long as I am under control and the weight is going in the right general direction. Best wishes to everyone else for a good week!

Tawny75 · 13/09/2006 13:22

Can I join you all please? I have joined WW today, I am pleased because I weighed less than I thought, still got a bloody long way to go.

One step at a time right?

I am motivated (at the moment) I just need to find time to exercise a bit.

coppertop · 13/09/2006 13:23

Thanks to you lovely MoFos I've managed to get back on the wagon again after my 6lbs gain a couple of weeks ago. I lost 2lbs of it last week and have lost another 2lbs this week.

Yeeeeehaaaaah!

heavenis · 13/09/2006 13:28

Well done Coppertop.

heavenis · 13/09/2006 13:29

I made fruit salad yesterday but instead of using orange juice. I juiced some pears so it was all natural.

Fauve · 13/09/2006 13:34

Well done, Coppertop! I have lost as well this week after a gain last week, which I was really quite about since I had really been trying. However my loss this week more than makes up for it - in fact, I think there may have been a bit of hormonal mayhem mucking me up last time.

I wonder if I might aspire towards the crown this week [look of longing]...

suejoneziscalmernow · 13/09/2006 13:41

Oh well done Coppertop and Fauve - see I knew would would end up inspiring us! Just goes to show what is possible if you get back into it after a difficult patch.

You sound very in-control, Schneebly - are you?

Welcome Tawny75 - I don't have time for a chat now but if you read through this thread you'll see our "philosophy" a few times which will give you an idea what we're about.

WigWamBam · 13/09/2006 13:47

Hi Tawny.

You might have seen our "creed" (for want of a better word") earlier on the thread, but if you haven't here it comes ... if it makes you nod your head in agreement, or punch the air saying "Yes, yes, yes!" then you're in the right place!

BigMoFos Creed

The BigMoFos are about attitude as much as anything: some of us were cheesed off with 7 stone people posting about being bloaters, and whingeing because they needed to lose 4lb and how hard it was. We just wanted a place where people understood how large people feel, and where we could feel supported in a way that those 7 stone people couldn't manage to support us.

We do a weigh-in on a Wednesday, but not all of us weigh in. Some just follow the thread for support, whichever you would feel more comfortable doing. It's all pretty free and easy but it seems to work. Email is [email protected] if you want to join the weigh-in, otherwise just hop along for the ride.

Our rules:

No beating yourself up (we will do that for you if necessary)
Each week is a new week and you leave last week?s problems behind
No pedantic grammar corrections (unless what you typed really doesn?t make sense) we are quite smart and will work out what you mean.

Tawny75 · 13/09/2006 14:04

OOOOHHHHHHH sounds good to me, I weighed this morning so I will email my weight.

All and any support is a great thing

JackieNo · 13/09/2006 15:33

Well done all - looks like a good week. I've just weighed and lost another pound, which I wasn't really expecting, so I'm pretty happy. DD is currently sat on the sofa with a bowl complaining of a poorly tummy, so who knows, I may have an enforced detox thrust upon me if I catch what she has.

suejoneziscalmernow · 13/09/2006 15:35

jackie! Are you TRYING to catch it [suspicious emoticon]

lemonaid · 13/09/2006 15:44

Half a pound this week. And that was before bf DS, when I normally weigh myself after, so there must be another few ounces there [she says, casting around desperately...]
