update on meeting with social worker now that report is back and is positive here

JackieNo · 02/09/2006 18:25

How frustrating for you suejoneziscalmernow (no - it'll have to be just suejonez - I can't face typing that every time). But at least a positive report.

Just come back from a day competely wasted at the Red Bull Air Race. Drove to Longleat - should have taken an hour and a half, took three and a half hours because the traffic was so dreadful. Huge walk from the car park to the site where it was to be, and down a huge hill, so we knew what we were up against on the way back. Windy, raining, not very warm. Race delayed, and delayed, not much to do, in the end we gave up, left about 3.30, and have just got home, 3 hours later. The traffic was appalling, and we heard on the way back that the weather continued to be so gusty that they cancelled the race. We do get our money back, but have spent six and a half hours in the car for nothing. Glad I put something in the slow cooker before we left - off to eat it now.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 18:30

Crikey that sounds awful Jackie - how were your DC's in the car all that time?

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:04

I'm back ... glad to see everything's been running smoothly without me Thanks for taking over the reins, sue.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:20

it's much clamer than other threads WWB - you probably wouldn;t have too much frothing at the mouth over it...

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:23

I saw it - I think your fabulous posts rather scared everyone off

I thought I'd break myself in gently and keep away from the "has this thing taken off yet" threads ... and then I spotted the vegetarian one ... ho hum.

justamum · 02/09/2006 19:24

jackieNo, it sounds like you could do with a few red bulls and vodkas after a day like that! Suejonez, lol at your social worker thread, how much clearer did you have to make it! Good news that all the reports are done and positive.
Hello WWB, did you have a nice break, i love York. (you were in York weren't you?)
littlefish, i think i've started something on the cm thread!

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:26

justamum - glad you would have understood what I was saying. I sat there thinking - how much more graphic do I have to be with this woman?!

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:29

She's a social worker though; you have to make allowances for them. They're not on the same wave-length as the rest of us at all. Just spotted that you've got a date to fly out ... how exciting! So pleased for you.

Yes, we were up near York, lovely area. Did lots of walking, rode steam railways, looked at lots of old things, met up with a gorgeous MNer (who doesn't class as one of the old things) - it was good, thanks.

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:29

Oh, and I ate too much. Some things never change.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:30

date is still subject to change WWB but still exciting - I'm going to be so pissed off if they delay it now that I've stopped panicking and have started looking forward to it.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:31

who did you meet? OFc ourse you ate too much you were on holiday, everyone does (it's in the holiday bible I beleive)

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:34

I feel unbelievably excited for you - it's just such lovely news.

I met up with Secur - she lives in York, so we met up with her and her two youngest children. She's lovely, was so nice to meet her.

I know everyone eats too much on holiday ... I promised myself I wouldn't, but knew it was too much to live up to!

Talking about being in the dieter's bible ... I noticed someone was talking earlier about doing a MoFos Creed - did anything come of it? I think it would be worth doing both to let others know what we're all about and to remind ourselves occasionally too!

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:37

I agree but have to go forage for some food now. Lets all think about it and produce something.

Littlefish · 02/09/2006 19:39

Re: MoFo's creed.

I would like something to reflect the fact that:

MoFo's act like comfort food. They make you feel full and happy, but without the guilt and calories, so never be afraid to say what's on your mind.

Or are you thinking of something less fluffy and more practical.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 19:41

There is space for fluffy and practical in the broad (ahem) church that is BigMoFo's.

Here endeth the first lesson.

WigWamBam · 02/09/2006 19:54

Fluffy, practical, disappearing up it's own bum ... there's room for it all really.

JackieNo · 02/09/2006 20:16

Nice to have you back WWB - glad you had a good time. Suejonez - the DCs were angelic, rather to my surprise. A friend drove all of us, and I was a bit worried, although they're usually OK on car journeys, and they were great.

JackieNo · 02/09/2006 20:31

OK - how about this as a first stab at a creed? Cribbed from posts by WWB and suejonez.

BigMoFos Creed

The BigMoFos are about attitude as much as anything: some of us were cheesed off with 7 stone people posting about being bloaters, and whingeing because they needed to lose 4lb and how hard it was. We just wanted a place where people understood how large people feel, and where we could feel supported in a way that those 7 stone people couldn't manage to support us.

We do a weigh-in on a Wednesday, but not all of us weigh in. Some just follow the thread for support, whichever you would feel more comfortable doing. It's all pretty free and easy but it seems to work. Email is [email protected] if you want to join the weigh-in, otherwise just hop along for the ride.

Our rules:

No beating yourself up (we will do that for you if necessary)
Each week is a new week and you leave last week?s problems behind
No pedantic grammar corrections (unless what you typed really doesn?t make sense) we are quite smart and will work out what you mean.

coppertop · 02/09/2006 22:44

Yay! Welcome back, WWB!

Sorry, Sue but I actual had to LOL at the dimness of the SW. Fingers crossed that it's all goes ahead this month.

I missed the discussion about the BigMoFo creed but I love the idea.

coppertop · 02/09/2006 22:47

Clicked on Post before saying that I like Jackie's version. We could cobble together an entire handbook from the BigMoFo threads.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 22:47

Coppertop I laughed afterwards too, but at thee time I was racking my brains about how to explain why I wasn't likely to get pregnant any time soon without saying "s_x"! How lame is that? I'm hardly a prude!

flutterbee · 02/09/2006 22:53

OMG I have been a right little porker today, I can not begin to list the crap I have eaten and on top of that I haven't exersized for 4 days if I stay the same the week I shall be over the moon.

Now I am just going to lie on the floor and wait for one of you lot to come along and beat some sense into me, as I shall adhere to the rules and not beat myself up. Feel free to begin when you wish.

suejoneziscalmernow · 02/09/2006 22:58

you still have three days before weighing in flutterbee, so get off the floor and start running around the garden. Not too late to rescue a bad week.

C'mon now, up you get.

flutterbee · 02/09/2006 22:59

Please just one kick I will feel so much better for it.

I will have a walk tomorrow I promise!
