Hi, following on from the lose a stone and half thread those of us with more weight to shift (me!) would like to carry on

Is there anyone out there to join?

I will go first

I have reached my Easter target and I would like to lose between 7 and 12 pounds ready for the summer (I may lose more in the autumn but I don't see the point if I can't maintain it)

I have let things sill a bit so my intention is to calorie count as I did before with no chocolate or alcohol from Tuesday for a few weeks. Then I will relax the choc and booze rule Grin

super sorry about your mum. My mum was 54, it's much too young

jemima

How tall are you? I have trouble visualising weight s I always compare it to me

Hope you are all having a good week. I need to try and get a few fasts in otherwise I will have gained weight this week. When I don't feel well I tend to eat...a lot!

Tonight is going better now, thanks super. The fish and chips did the trick. Back on track now I think.
Another appalling freezer dinner story will be great Grin

Your mum sounds wonderful.

rabbitrisen · 29/04/2014 22:06

Crumbs Rufus. Your mum too Sad

The only experience I have is that of a friends mum who lost hers at 52. Agree that that is far too young.

rabbitrisen · 29/04/2014 22:09

Jemima. 6 stone is so impressive.
Makes my losses so minor.

I am at a bit of a loss or muddle re BMI
It seems quite a broad spectrum?
I havent looked it all up lately.
I did used to be bang in the middle, yet I still think I was a bit overweight.
And now they say about waist measurements. And mine is definitely over I think. I have always had a bit of a tummy.

supermariossister · 29/04/2014 22:11

Sad sorry to hear that Rufus, it's very young isn't it.

I think bad freezer teas will be my specialtyGrin gone over my calorie intake today not done half as much exercise as usual and had chocolate milkshake Blush glad the night has gone better the fish and chips must have been good to sort you outGrin I made carrot fries Sunday they weren't bad bit soggy

rabbitrisen · 29/04/2014 22:20

carrot fries Grin
You do make me laugh. And that is difficult. I am known for not having much of a sense of humour.

The fish and chip shop is open all hours and all year round in our tiny town. It does good trade.

[realises I must stop talking about them. I dont want to tempt people]

supermariossister · 29/04/2014 22:35

hey they weren't bad, not as nice as sweet potato fries though. dps face when he was eating them was almost worth the time it took to peel and slice them all Grin. the fish and chip shop near here is shocking so no tempting me, there is one brilliant one but no delivery service and about a three mile walk so I manage to avoid eating fish and chips has been years since I had them. we do have some really nice curry places though which isn't helpful as I love curries.

JemimaMuddledUp · 30/04/2014 08:40

I am 5'6". I think the top end of healthy BMI for my height is 11st, so at 10st 12 I am just below that. I really don't want to go over it! Most of my trousers are size 10, but a lot of my tops are size 12 because I have broad shoulders.

One good thing about living in the sticks is if you want a takeaway you have to get in the car and drive into town to get one. So you have to really want one!

Couscous, falafel, hummus and salad in my lunchbox today, with satsumas and grapes for snacks. Been for my 2 mile walk, it was cold and foggy this morning! DS2 and DD have a swimming lesson tonight, I haven't decided yet whether to swim at the same time. Depends how tired I am after work.

RufusTheReindeer · 30/04/2014 10:15

jemima

I am a gnats nadger off 5 foot 8 (so I am saying I am 5 foot 8)

I currently weigh 11 stone 4 pounds and wear size 12 jeans and 12/14 tops, usually 14 as I have big boobs

I want to weigh 10 stone 7 but would be happy to be in the 10s

I live in a village about 15 mins walk from the centre and 10 mins walk from the beach. There is a Chinese takeaway, cafe and pub at the beach. There are 2 cafés, a pub, a kebab shop, an Indian and a Chinese takeaway in the village. There is a pub 5 mins away (my local) and two more pubs within a twenty minute walk of my house. Half an hour takes you to the next small town/village and as it's a seaside town I don't have time to write all the cafés/takeaways/restaurants down

The whole of my social life revolves round the cafe or the pub. Although next Friday I am walking quite a while with a friend...to get coffee!

I am stuffed!!!! Sometimes literally Grin

Feel better but still a bit under the weather, so I am self medicating ...with crumpets

That's all I'm having though and a very good tea

So true!

Oh Rufus. So many tempting things!
Your description sounds like a town I know beginning with P. Prob isnt that one.

I am 5"1" . Petite at the bottom, not at the top! Makes clothing difficult. Another story.

But 1/2 stone at least over is a big deal when I am only that height.

RufusTheReindeer · 30/04/2014 21:13

rabbit

It is amazing how much difference a few inches make!!

Ooh hold on that sounds rude!!

When I started calorie counting I was talking to a friend about it. At my target or 10.5 I would need to eat 1650 calories to maintain.

To maintain her weight she needs 1200! She wasn't happy!

I don't live somewhere beginning with P but I do live on the south coast somewhere near a place beginning with P. Love guessing games (though I am rubbish at them!!!)

My week is not going well, going to try for a fast day Thursday and Friday
(And Saturday, Sunday etc etc)

Excuse me for interrupting you here Rufus . I had hoped that you would be feeling better by now . But, after reading your last post I am worried that your high temperature might have taken its toll on you.

As you know I am very busy bottling deer at the moment. However I have interrupted my work as I have noticed ( no doubt as have others ) that the tone of this thread is slipping .

The way you have referred to 'inches' is one thing . But to actually draw attention to your error by announcing to all and sundry that this 'sounds rude' ! Honestly Rufus , I feel very concerned that you get the thread back to its usual high standards.

Wishing you ( as ever ) a prompt recovery, Saymwa.

supermariossister · 01/05/2014 07:55

Grin Grin Grin I love it when someone lowers the tone, means I fit right in Blush

yesterday was grim didn't go over but most of day was carbs, hanging on till payday to buy food.

Saymwa · 01/05/2014 08:17

Super, now that you have drawn my attention to the matter , may I ask what all this carrot -chips- stuff is about ?

Is this really the level that British cuisine has come to ? Or are you out on a limb here ?

Whichever might be the case, might I suggest that you are not quite holding the fort either . I agree with Jemima that you really do need to get a grip . And quite sharply too if I might say !

Regarding your own usage of the term 'Mug shots' - the less said the better.

RufusTheReindeer · 01/05/2014 09:05

Abject apologies to all for lowering the tone

I am however slightly confused, I was obviously referring to the difference inches make to height... And therefore displaying a disgusting level of heightism....which was very rude

I feel that although this was "rude" it was no way lowering the tone unless of course you yourself were making a heightist remark with your use of the word lowering

If this is not the case can you please explain what you inferred from my innocent use of the phrase "difference a couple of inches makes"

In detail....with pictures!!

Yours (in confusion)

Rufus

rufus Grin

Alas id like to say carrot chips were a culinary masterpiece but they purely came about thanks to only possessing that particular vegetable at tea time. I blame pinterest for the idea behind the madness.

I take full blame for mug shots though :) shopping day tomorrow because I will finally have the funds too so in all seriousness can anyone suggest some great things as my total consumption this week seems to be 60% carbs!

I feel we have become sidetracked by innuendo and carrots - make of that what you will Grin

Saymwa · 01/05/2014 12:09

Apologies accepted Rufus and must say that I'm very glad to see that errors are being corrected here . Same for Super. Good, very good ! Smile

Regarding the highs and lows , all I can say is that I am neither here nor there on either subject Rufus. I must confess to be guilty of plateauing right now.

Of course this is most unfortunate , especially at the moment. Since my advice to Super ( whose cupboard is bare bar carrots) would have been fast ( as in ' a fast day' ) .

Of course, there is always fast carrot soup . Simple traditional English recipe ( carrots + water and heat ).

Regards to all as ever,

supermariossister · 01/05/2014 12:13

looks like your right so far I've had a banana. I'm out the house the rest of the day so will worry about tea later, never made carrot soup. how is everyone going along?

rabbitrisen · 01/05/2014 13:27

Food shop ideas. I am not to great myself, and could never claim to be a good cook.
Rufus and I seem to both think that soups are filling. I also favour delaying food intake by more drinks. I also am more stocked with ice lollies. And of course the obvious fruit.

I have taken to wandering on the Slimming World site for some ideas. And the food board on here.

oh I am short all right. No 2 ways about it. didnt even manage to reach the height of my DM bitter!

supermariossister · 01/05/2014 13:39

I'm five ft 1, primary school children are taller than me. unfortunately I don't pull off high heels well either! think I need to step away from the carbs for sure, can't wait to have food in that is really sad isn't it.

Saymwa · 01/05/2014 19:44

Hi again. It doesn't sound sad to me Super Smile. It sounds really normal !!

Hope you have survived your next to nothing food day. What did you make in the end?

Here I am on a fast day. I am going to have some courgettes with thyme, parsnips and a slice of roast meat.
I'm looking forward to a NFD tomorrow . Who knows, maybe I'll be off the plateau then ...

Good luck Saymwa.

I am personally wobbling. Had a right wobble this afternoon. I am seriously starting to lack motivation.
Wanted a break, but better not.

Someone upthread said for me to think about why I might have out on 1/2lb.
I think the reason is because I am hungry!!!!

I dont think all my weeks are equal in that regard for me. There are some weeks where it is not so much of a hardship to eat less.
Currently I am hungry, especially in the afternoons.

RufusTheReindeer · 01/05/2014 19:52

Sorry

OP posts:
supermariossister · 01/05/2014 19:52

I didn't as kids had already eaten and dp was out so went with a leftover chicken . not going to fill the calories though as not hungry. had one of those days where if there was wine I would Crack but luckily we have none. how are you? that sounds nice
