So a new thread, a new more motivated state of mind.

We will be skinny. No more excuses.

I hope your Shredding goes well. You're a braver woman than me.
I'll have to see if that Katie Hopkins programme is still available to watch. It's true about the exercise, I think I'm just scarred to start it because I'll know it will be really hard. So I keep making excuses to myself as to why I can't start yet.
I'm just going to try to walk more next week. I'll see how it goes from there.

DD1 doesn't seem ill. She's just tired. I dragged her out for a walk this morning. We'll just try to go to outdoor places next week.

It's early days on the diet but I'm feeling positive about it. I'm aiming for 500 calories on a fast day and 1500-2000 on a normal day.
On my two fast days I had roast mushroom soup, tinned soup and an Exante bar. Yesterday I had some M&S sushi instead of the tinned soup. It was okay. I survived. I had almond milk with coffee too as its really low calorie and semi skimmed in the two cups of tea I had.

On the normal food days I'm just trying to eat normally and not starve myself all day so I can eat rubbish later on. I made a ham, leek and tomato quiche (the one with cottage cheese and no pastry). That's really filling and does for any meal.
I'm going to try to have things like avocado on toast, cottage cheese on ryvita, muesli, porridge. I'm avoiding soup unless it's a really tasty one from a recipe and not just chucking lots of veg in a pan (I'm bored of that).
For evening meals I've been looking through magazines and books for inspiration. I'm just hoping that if I have nicer meals I won't snack so much.

That's a great idea about the M&S meal. That way you get your own bottle of wine Grin.
I signed up to M&S energy on a fixed tarrif the other day just because you get £200 of vouchers. I have no idea if elsewhere would have been cheaper!

I bought a scallop thing starter (French, I can't spell it!), steak with peppercorn sauce. Spanish potatoes, salted caramel brownie/cheesecake type dessert and pink cava.
I was looking forward to getting some nice food in for the weekend, but nursery rang to tell me about the pox before I had a chance to look. I had a whole morning at the shops planned. We even bagged a parent and child space and I had to leave at 9:15!

Greenrabbit · 13/02/2015 08:26

I'm going to do another fast day today. I need to break the Friday pig out curse. Then I'll feel less guilty about the Valentines meal tomorrow.
I was reading peoples' diaries on a dieting site called minimims.com. Some people have lost stones and stones doing fasting. So I'm going to give it a serious go for a month.

Greenrabbit · 13/02/2015 15:55

Ignore my last post. I lasted till 12:30 and had a nice lunch! Never mind.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 13/02/2015 20:50

The Friday pig out curse - I have that too. It's always a Friday, I'm usually alright on a Saturday, I think it's the end of the week energy slump. What did you have for lunch?

I was active today but ate quite a bit of food. I was exhausted and ended up buying a pouch of food for TinySol and a tray of Sushi for DS1 because the thought of cooking a lot of meals made me want to lie down.

How's your DD doing with the chicken pox?

I just realised I wrote a long post last night but it's not up on the thread. I bet I forgot to press send - I am so ridiculous some times. The jist of it was that I plan to be more active and really make better food choices. I need to start toning up and taking some time to exercise and rev up my metabolism. I am an emotional eater (should I stand up and announce that in an over eaters anonymous way?) and I think the torture of having to exercise will be enough to start with. There's a lot going on regarding work and family stuff at the moment and sometimes my favourite time is to sit down with a decent snack and enjoy it.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/02/2015 20:33

Ate like a piglet this weekend, but I'm all geared up for the Lent bootcamp that is waiting for me.

So my plan is:

  • Do the Shred every evening.
  • Try and be more active during the day.
  • Cut down on the amount of alcohol I drink.
  • Cut down on junk food.
  • Be more mindful when I snack. I tend to shove food in my mouth without paying too much attention. That has to stop.
  • Try and have soup for lunch every day.

How's everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 15/02/2015 20:55

I've ate too much as well. I'm blaming TOTM.

I like your plan. I'll join in and list mine:

  • do the exercise programme to rebuild my core strength. (Daily)
  • walk more/ be more active
  • 5:2 or 4:3
  • plan more efficiently for weekends so we don't give in and buy takeaway
  • cut down on junk and eat more vegetables and fruit.
  • no alcohol.

I've had an okay weekend. After my cheese and cracker lunch on Friday we went for a walk. Then we had Dominoes! I'd promised the girls and could be bothered to cook. I ate some, not loads. I drank too much wine though (I'll add that to my list for lent.
Had the M&S meal last night and again too much wine.

I'm well impressed at your Sushi eating children, next you'll be telling me they like olives. Very healthy choices too compared to our pizza.
DD1 always used to pinch my M&S sushi then spit it out. God knows why she likes everything it's made from. Rice, tuna and cucumber are staples in this house. They can be so fussy at times.

DD1 is okay thanks. She seems to have a lot of spots and they are in her mouth, round her eyes, in her ears and hair and between her legs.Sad
But she's coping well. I got some of that stuff you recommended but she's being stubborn and refusing to put it on. The aqueous camomile seems to be working for her. She wouldn't leave the house at all yesterday or today so I've been very inactive.

Have you started the shred yet? I've dug out my stuff and sorted the bedroom so I can exercise in there.
I know what you mean about the emotional eating, but it is such a pleasurable thing. I'm trying to focus on finding nice healthy things to cook and bake.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/02/2015 21:56

I haven't started the Shred due to TOTM. I can't be in agony and expected to exercise. It'll have to be Wednesday. Have you seen the thread in Chat recommending Davina's 7 minute workout? I'm going to get it if I do the full 30 days of the Shred. I'm actually kind of hoping that it'll be on youtube by then

Shall we just draw a line under this weekend? We can accept that a lot of food was eaten and we had a lot of wine but we will look forward to better eating. I'm going to take a "before" photo of myself to keep myself motivated over Lent and look at it when I'm feeling weak. I think I'll put a bikini on and let everything hang out and when I feel like eating shite I will look at it (and sob!)

DS is a brilliant eater, if he turns his nose up at something I tell him he's not allowed have it and it's only for big kids, then proceed to eat it and within minutes he's asking to try it. DS2 seems to be quite similar but I love my food too so it's hardly surprising. I just hope my kids sons get my emotional eating habits. I'd quite like to be one of those families that are generally healthy and active.

Can you bribe your DD to put the cream on, or put it on when she's asleep? I hope she feels better soon. You're right to let her just chill out, she must be exhausted from it. Can she take an antihistamine like phenergan? My friend swore by it when her DS had chicken pox and measles, she said it relieved the itching. To be honest I'm not even sure if it's suitable but she used it and recommends it. Maybe check with your doctor.

I'm quite looking forward to exercising and eating better. We'll see how long that lasts...

Hello Sol and Green. How are you both? Got back from holiday yesterday, we had a fabulous time. If I can work out how to do it, I will pop a couple of photos on (I think they have changed how to do it, I only want you both to see).

Loving your plans - sounds really motivated. Haven't quite caught up with everything you have been up to, will read through now. Green - hope you daughter is better and Sol - love the dress. Your celeb DH lookalikes are very dishy. My DH looks like scientist!

I have the post of shame.

I had a margarita (sometimes 2) every day. On some days I also had prosecco. I had cake every day and sometimes ice cream too. I also had carbs.
So I weighed myself this morning and I am hoping beyond hope my TOM and perhaps water retention (grasps at straws) has made my weigh in slightly inaccurate but I appear to have gained 12lbs Shock
I do look much slimmer in the photos from the 1st week though, so fear it may be accurate. In the interests of research for this thread, I think I have proved what 3 weeks of eating cake and drinking cocktails can do Grin

So I am starting exante tomorrow. I hope to have lost the weight I have gained in 3 weeks. Then I am going to tackle the remaining 16lbs. I need to remember every time I am near cake how much I prefer being thinner.

BeyondTheSea · 15/02/2015 22:06

Green your poor DD - that sounds awful. Hope she is much better very soon. Have you tried Oilatum in the bath? Piriton Is a good anti histamine for children.

The Shred - Is it really hard Sol?

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 15/02/2015 22:19

Just saw this thread in my active list, can I join please?

I used to post here when you first started this thread solitude but haven't been on in about a year (and still haven't lost any more weight, in fact I think I've gained a few pounds) but I'm determined now. I've ordered davinas fit in 15 minutes and I'm trying to be more active and eat less junk. Maybe posting somewhere will shame me in to sticking to it!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/02/2015 22:29

Beyond welcome back and thank you for having all those cocktails and cake in the name of diet related science! Did you have a great time? The Shred is evil but it bloody works, I did it for a few weeks during the Summer and it was ace.

Hi SayHello, welcome back! Do let us know how the Davina dvd goes. I like the idea of working out for 7 mins. I am super lazy. How have you been?

OP posts:
zinher · 15/02/2015 22:33

Hiya I am not such a new mum. Baby turned 1 recently and I have to start losing some weight.

I am not usually good with keeping with these threads but hoping to shed some weight so will try to check in regularly.

BeyondTheSea · 15/02/2015 22:35

Hello SayHello.I remember you, I don't think you had much to lose?

Sol - we had such a wonderful time. It was so nice spending all the time together. The DC really benefited from it, DD is trying so hard to talk and DS imagination has just grown and grown. Feel bit guilty about going back to work but as a reality check, I am currently battling with DS who does not want to go to nursery tomorrow and wants me to sleep beside him (as I did last night). I am not looking forward to getting up for work in 7 hours time!

BeyondTheSea · 15/02/2015 22:37

Hello zinher - please do stick around. How much to you want to lose? Have you a plan in mind?

Greenrabbit · 15/02/2015 23:16

Wow, lots of new posts.

Welcome back SayHello and welcome and hi to Zinher. All our babies are now over one too. What type of diet are you doing?

Your holiday sounded wonderful Beyond, it's flown over. I'm really glad that you had such a lovely time. Don't feel bad about going back to work though. I hope your DS goes to nursery okay tomorrow . It's tough getting back into a routine.
Thanks for the research, I'm sure you'll lose most of that quite quickly especially if you re start tomorrow. That's the mistake I made after Christmas. I'm doing fasting again so I'm having a fast day again tomorrow.
My DD2 is talking a lot now. Highlights this week include 'boobs', 'stinky poo', 'wee wee' and 'pox'.Grin

Sol I agree to draw a line after this weekend. I've not heard much about the Davina DVD, but I have a couple of her older ones and used to,like them. Is it really only 7 min? Or one of them that you pick areas to focus on and do as much or little as you want? It will be reduced by Easter anyway!

I'll try the Piriton with DD if the itching gets bad. She's not been complaining about it much. She'll probably try the new cream tomorrow. She was tired tonight and takes awhile to get used to new things.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 16/02/2015 20:20

I'm going to start my Davina dvd tomorrow sol so I'll let you know how I get on. Its an older one (I think last years maybe) and I ordered before seeing people on here talking about the 7 minute one, hopefully this one will be good too.

Hi BeyondTheSea, were you using a different name when I was on? I've got about a stone to lose but I'd really like to try and tone up too.

I had such a nice day with my girls today, they're off school and nursery so we went to the park then had a walk along the beach. On the way home we stopped off for fish and chips.......I'm a failure at dieting!!

Greenrabbit · 16/02/2015 21:09

Well I actually lost 3lb last week, so I'm pleased with that. Now I just need to keep losing.
I've managed another fast day today and I didn't eat anything till this evening. I'm going to do another on Wednesday too.
I wasn't very active today though, just a walk to the Post Office. DD seems a lot better today so hopefully we'll get to have afew days ou this week.

I've planned this week's meals up until Sunday. I realised that I never plan much for a Friday and we end up eating badly. So I'm going to see if that helps any.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/02/2015 21:20

Hi Zinher and welcome. We're all in the same boat here with babies and struggling to get back to our pre-baby figures. Everyone on this thread is really supportive and it's great to hear from other people in similar situations.

How was your first day back at work Beyond? It always sucks to head back to work after a holiday. Did you re-start Exante? You'll be having post-Florida margarita and cake withdrawls.

How's your daughter today Green? I think the Davina dvd is split in to sections so you can focus on certain areas but including the warm up they only last 10 mins, I'm starting with the Shred but I'm really tempted to get it. Maybe I'll get it instead of an Easter egg.

SayHello your day sounds lovely. Never mind the fish and chips, it sounds like you had lots of exercise. Are you going to follow a specific eating plan or are you going to be using exercise?

I'm going to get a Fitbit tomorrow and use all the apps and food diary. DH wants to get one too, so I can challenge him (and beat him as I am fiercely competitive) and we can monitor how we are doing. I think I'll get the Zip, it goes in your bra or waistband. How do you find it Green? Does anyone else have one?

I'm really motivated to make a difference over Lent (I don't know why I need a start/end date but it focuses me). I want to put in the work and see good results, I would also like my belly not to wobble as I run up the stairs.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/02/2015 21:23

That's fantastic Green, you must be delighted. All your hard work is paying off! Yay!

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 16/02/2015 21:28

She's much more lively today thanks Sol. She even put the new cream on!

I have the Fitbit one (I think). Does the Zip have a screen? I like to check the screen during the day every time I get off my bum. The app is really good. I linked mine with my fitness pal, I find MFP easier to record food.
I need some friends linked on mine but I'm ashamed at how inactive I am. I keep seeing people linking to facebook and they've done 15,000 + in a day. I could never beat my DH. One day last week he done 22,000 (he has a Google watch not a fitbit)

I might find some of my old DVDs out. I like Davina. I have the Shred in it's wrapper and I'm sure I have Natalie Cassidy from the first time she lost weight (that girl can yoyo!)

Greenrabbit · 16/02/2015 21:30

I prefer the Fitbit in my bra. It kept falling off my trousers. I nearly lost it one day.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/02/2015 21:39

Yes it has a little screen. I am really looking forward to getting it (I am really sad) and getting moving. I feel stagnant at the moment. How many steps do you normally do in a day?

Come do the Shred with me, we can be in writhing, burning agony together - I'm probably not selling this too well. I don't like Natalie Cassidy, she makes that mistake of dressing in clothes that in no way suits her figure. And she was so obnoxious when she was skinny and then defensive and obnoxious when she piled it all back on again.

I'm such a judgey cow! Grin

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 16/02/2015 21:53

Let's just say I started wearing it again last Monday and still haven't managed 10,000 in a day (so lazy)! I do plan on making DD walk home from Nursery once she's better. When I was wearing it last year I did manage to do them most days. I blame Chicken Pox.

I don't like her either. I have no idea why I bought it (I might just be imagining owning it as most our DVDs are in the loft). I watched a documentary she did when she was pregnant and judged her lots. I'm very critical.,that's why I'm so awful to myself too! I don't watch East Enders either (just for the record)

At least Davina always looks amazing.

The shred sounds scary. All this talk of exercise reminds me that I need to find my sports bra.

BeyondTheSea · 16/02/2015 22:37

Hello,

I didn't start today due to having 1 hours sleep last night. I am going to start on Wednesday as friend round for lunch tomorrow.

Off to bed now. Weighing tomorrow in case was carrying 12lbs of fluid :)

Couldn't put any photos of holiday up, if you want to see any, message me an email address.

BeyondTheSea · 16/02/2015 22:38

I'm so old, I've got a cindy crawford work out video.
