So a new thread, a new more motivated state of mind.

We will be skinny. No more excuses.

Thanks Worship.
I've just been for a walk and DD actually kept up for once! So I think we'll just have to fit in an extra walk out each day, which should be easier when the weather gets warmer. Unfortunately I have a stupid buggy that you can't get a board on.

I also have a really stupidly laid out house (open plan bungalow with bedrooms leading off the main living space), so I have nowhere to exercise on a night without waking someone up. Once it warms up I'll try to go into the garage, until then I think I'll have to make more effort on a weekend.

Thanks for all the tips and well done on giving up sugar, that's something I don't think I could manage at the moment!

SleepDesperatelyWanted · 14/03/2014 15:16

WW - I'm not sure if it's worth the money joining online, but I didn't really utilise all the stuff on there, I was just pointing food and weighing in which I can just as well do on here.
I know the points of most foods, so I just add it up as I go along.
ie Weetabis and ss milk is 600, most low fat soups are 3-4 points. Chicken breast is 4 points. Most fruit and veg is no points. A chocolate bar is between 5-8 points. Carbs are more point heavy.
If you google, you can find lists that people have pointed, so in theory you don't really need to join online and can save the cash. I think it's 27 points per day on pro points. 35-40 if breastfeeding. oh and you get 49 weeklies, which can be splurged on a meal out or used as extras each day.

SleepDesperatelyWanted · 14/03/2014 15:18

Weetabix and milk is 6 points not 600 unless you have a vv big bowl obviously.

Greenrabbit · 14/03/2014 15:23

Thanks for the welcome Sleep.

It's nice to have people in similar situations to talk to. It sounds like you have had a good week. I don't think I could cope with 24 creme eggs in the house.
I've also had 2 c sections, my back hurt loads after my first. It doesn't feel as bad this time, but I haven't tried any real exercises yet.

I'm trying to do the filling and healthy plan to start with. I might try points if it doesn't work. I get extra points for BF, but I tried the plan before Christmas and just used them all on rubbish snacks. So I thought I might make better choices on filling and healthy.

Greenrabbit · 14/03/2014 15:28

I bought the WW plan from Groupon. It was £15 for 3 months. I don't think I'll renew it when it ends. My Mam goes to meetings so I'll just pinch her stuff if I'm still into it by then!

SleepDesperatelyWanted · 14/03/2014 18:28

I love creme eggs DH eats 2 at a time. I may kill him
I might have a magnum tomorrow, seriously knowing I can have something yum in the evenings gets me through the day eating carrot sticks and soup.
We'll see how this reflects on the scales.

That was a good deal on groupon

Anyone planning on having 7lb weight loss treats?

IWorshipSatin · 15/03/2014 08:33

Ok I'm starting lowcarbing today. Can I actually eat and drink what the heck I like as long as it's carb free? pass me the 24 creme eggs

Google image search the plank challenge but basically you start off planking 45seconds per day and build it up to 2 minutes or something. I can do 1:15 now but can't imagine getting to 2 mins.

I took some 'before pics' yesterday in my bikini. It looked like a rubber band on an egg Hmm

SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/03/2014 10:32

Worship you made me roar laughing at "a rubber band on an egg". Beifre pics are a great idea. I used them when I was trying to fit in to my wedding dress, seeing the ever decreasing bulge was a great incentive.

Sleep I'm going to get a new haircut / hairstyle when I lose 7 lbs. I want to feel good about myself and move my "rewards" away from food. I'd normally reward weight loss with a take away, it's not hard to realise how I became so heavy. I love your evening time indulgence plan and will be adopting it. I can stomach salad if I know there's chocolate in my future.

I had satanic with ice cold water this morning. I know it sounds gross but it was gorgeous and wasn't as stodgy as it is with milk. How many points are in 2 wetabix?

Green I was the same with my we extra points for breast feeding. I used them for chocolate. I find it really hard only having 29 points now though.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/03/2014 10:33

Satanic? What the hell auto correct. That was supposed to be wetabix. No early morning Satanism for me .

OP posts:
IWorshipSatin · 15/03/2014 11:12

The haircut reward idea is genius! Trouble is I've already booked an appt for 3rd April because my hairdresser gets booked up months in advance. Oh well it'll be a challenging target...

Greenrabbit · 15/03/2014 12:02

Sol there are 3 points in 2 weetabix. I had a cooked breakfast, all with food from the filling and healthy list. You can even have bread, I'm impressed so far.

I had some snacks and glass of wine last night, so I'll have to work out the points.
I might take some pics and measurements today, my main problem is my stomach. It will be good to see how that changes when I lose my 40lbWink. I don't even own a bikini anymore Worship. I'm sure you look better than you think.
Sleep- I bought myself some makeup when I lost my first 7lb. I have a list of things I'd like, so if I get to 14lb I'll pick something off that. I know what Sol means about rewarding yourself with food. I'm terrible at doing that.

Sol- do you find that you manage on the 29 points, or are you starving? I'm hoping the plan I'm trying will work as I hate constantly weighing and measuring things out.

funkypigeon · 15/03/2014 12:03

Hello, I have a goal of 3 stone to lose. Have been lurking in the other thread for a while, can I join in?

So far, 10 days in, 5lb lost. Following the WW plan. I have a million points though because of my size right now so I do feel like I'm eating loads, but making the right choices. Except for today- all I want to do is eat on the weekends. I'm much better at work but the minute the weekend sets in I feel like I can just splurge a bit, I know I need to sack that fir a start.

IWorshipSatin · 15/03/2014 13:40

Hi funky and welcome!

Omg 5lb in 10 days that's amazing. Seems like WW works!

I weighed in this morning and haven't budged Hmm

It's so depressing - I've got friends on Facebook who are doing WW (or SW, not sure which, the one with the 'syns') and they're all proudly showing their half a stone certificate. They don't do any exercise and they seem to be always uploading photos of meals.

I'm virtually starving myself and working out every day and losing nothing Sad

funkypigeon · 15/03/2014 13:50

iworship thank you. The first week's loss is always the quickest though I find. I'm sure it will slow down very soon! Something interesting I read about fruit though- the fructose or natural sugar in them can hinder weight loss if you eat too much of them. Seems obvious that if you eat too much, you'll gain but I always thought with fruit that you're 'safe' eating as much as you want! And I eat a lot of fruit since it became 'free' on WW.

I have no idea about 'syns', though a friend of mine has had success on SW. Onwards and upwards for next week though, it's hard to keep motivated though I know Smile

SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/03/2014 14:01

Green I'm starving on 29 points but I think that's because I was over eating anyway and I need to reduce my appetite. So far today I've had 8 points today, but I'm out fir dinner later so I'm really watching my consumption. If you find out how many points you're allowed you could see how you think you'd do.

Funky pigeon - welcome. 5 lbs down in 10 days is fantastic. I find ww works, it's just that my motivation can be lacking. Are you going to classes or are you doing it on your own?

Worship try not to get down. Is there not some exercise rule that your body retains fluid when you initially start to help your muscles repair. I'm sure I heard that. Syn's are slimming world, I've never tried it myself but I know people who have had huge success on it but one of my friend's put on weight doing it as it relies on you controlling your own portion sizes.

funkypigeon · 15/03/2014 16:00

Hi solitude, thanks for the welcome. I'm doing it by myself, as even though there are 6,000 meeting to choose from, none seem to fit my schedule Grin

So I'm weighing-in by myself every day week, on a Tuesday. I think that is what I'll miss the most about not going to a meeting, that I don't have the pressure to have a good result in front of the leader/others. Oh well, I'll just post my updates here, glad to found this thread Smile

BeyondTheSea · 15/03/2014 21:23

It's me Sleep, I decided to nc to something more positive.

Welcome to pigeon :) Amazing work with your 5lbs.

Worship - I wonder if you are eating enough? Definitely try to reduce the carbs and see if this helps.

Sol - enjoy your dinner out.

Green - the new plan sounds interesting. I think I'll stick with pro points for now as it seems to be working.

So I had my hair cut today, I will need to think of a new reward. I need a new purse so maybe that. Will buy clothes once hit the 14lbs loss.

I did a early weigh in due to have arranging an impromptu get together this afternoon. So after 6 days on ww, and low carbing but still having a chocolate treat, I have lost 3lbs. I was so pleased that I didn't go totally mad this afternoon, 2 glasses of prosecco, ice cream and crisps will mean I have dipped into my weeklies. But I plan to get straight back to being good tomorrow. I also had some french bread, but I didn't really enjoy it and I felt really bloated afterwards. Think will continue to avoid.

I'll now keep to a Saturday weigh in.
How are we going to keep track of our stats?

Hope you are all having lovely weekend, planning on a long walk tomorrow. Rugby mania in the Beyond house today.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/03/2014 09:22

Funky pigeon, I miss the headmastery fear of going to a ww weigh in, but it's 10 Euro a pop here and that's way too much. If I have 10 Euro spare I'm spending it on me. I find posting my weigh in results here really good because I feel like I'm letting the team down if I don't lose weight. And we're all in the same boat here so understand what it's like to struggle with weight. I really like the support element of this thread and I don't really think you get that at a ww class.

Hi Beyond, that's brilliant about your 3lb loss. You must be so happy. You will have that new purse in no time. I think you have a great way to do it whereby you have something delicious in the evening. Was your impromptu get together rugby related? We had the match on, it was amazing. Then we won the six nations so happy days. I was trying to watch while putting my make up on for going out, it wasn't an easy job.

I was very controlled at dinner. I had baba ganoush and 2 piece s of flatbread to start followed by spiced aubergine and chickpeas with rice. I had 2 very small glasses of wine but I didn't have dessert or the amazing biscuits and coffee. I woke up today really happy that I didn't over indulge. The menu was really heavy in pastry and cheese but I avoided them at all costs, even though they looked amazing.

Motivation is high in the Sol house today.

Oh, oh, oh I just fell off the wagon big time! DS' asthma bad so took him to OOH and it was lunch time but as we just needed to get him there sharpish I didn't have time to eat so by the time we were back (3 hours later) I was starving and have just gorged myself on bread and dips and all sorts of bad stuff.

Beating myself up now. How do you get over a fall out? Tomorrow's another day? Cry? I'm feeling pretty pathetic now and sounding it too Sad

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/03/2014 16:36

Oh God Pigeon, is your son ok?

Don't feel bad, don't cry, don't even give it another thought. You had a shock, you needed to be fed and you ate - start again from now. I can bore you to death as to why you ate carbs after a stressful event - it's to do with adrenalin and the fight or flight response - but I wouldn't do that to you.

I hope you're ok and that your son is on the mend.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 16/03/2014 20:16

Oh Pigeon - don't be so hard on yourself. I would have done the same.
Just start afresh tomorrow. Hope DS is ok. Positive diet vibes and good wishes to you (and an unmumsnetty hug).

Sol - well done on your restraint. It sounded delicious.
I agree - I think this thread will really help and so lovely to have more people :)

funkypigeon · 16/03/2014 22:42

Thanks ladies, DS seems ok but he's up and down. He's had 12 admissions in the last two years so my heart sinks when he gets a cold because for him it usually means being admitted.

Thanks for the encouragement- this thread is lovely, so glad I found it. I'm going to start afresh tomorrow. Have a good week everyone Smile

Greenrabbit · 16/03/2014 22:46

Hi Pigeon, hope your son is okay. Don't beat yourself up over what you ate, I too would have done that. I would try to start again tomorrow. You've already lost 5lb in 10 days, you won't undo it by one 'bad' meal.

Beyond - well done on your loss, I think I'll try low carbing at some point.

Sol your dinner sounded lovely. I think I'd go mad if I went to a nice restaurant, so it's probably best if I don't go anywhere for awhile.

I had a very good day on plan yesterday. No extra points, I was starving when I went to bed though. Been to my niece's birthday party today and had party food and cakeBlush. I have no idea how many points that was. I have no excuses, I am just greedy. I will start again tomorrow. I did have a nice time though and I still ate less than I normally would have. Still need to do some proper exercise.

Greenrabbit · 16/03/2014 22:50

This is better than a Weight Watchers meeting. I would never admit any of this to a leader (got shouted at in Slimming World once for doing that), but I still want to have lost something on Wednesday. Grin

BeyondTheSea · 17/03/2014 08:11

That's so stressful Pigeon. Really hope things improve, it can as they get older can't it?

Green - party food doesn't count (I don't think) :) fingers crossed for a loss for you this week. If you read the other thread, you'll see I lost and gained the same lbs about a 100 times, no judgement on this thread at all!!
