So a new thread, a new more motivated state of mind.

We will be skinny. No more excuses.

Yay Green, I am just so thrilled for you. 11lbs is just fantastic. Also good to hear re your lack of PMT Sol. Not so good to hear about the lack of sleep (same here). Tiny has decided that she doesn't want to keep beside Mummy, she wants to climb, chat, clap hands and try to throw herself off the bed, middle of the night is just a joy.

Please, these babies need to sleep tonight :)

DH watches the Dr Who's. I just couldn't stand Matt Smith, I don't mmd this one, I only really half watch though. I watched the last series of Torchwood and agree it was quite miserable, I kind of lost interest. Maybe I should give the earlier ones a go.
At the moment we are watching Criminal minds which is good, but it tens to make you feel serial killers are just everywhere...
I also like The Mentalist, Castle and Person of Interest. I really love Sherlock and also Elementary is really good (makes me think of our holiday as we watched an episode in the evening with a glass of wine :)

I think I am the make up novice compared to you both. I wear bare minerals (Which I think is pretty natural looking on me). MAC blusher, L'oreal Mascara and a lip balm or neutral lip gloss. I also wear clear pink plush on my fingers but have loads of colours for toes (small addiction to OPI) although also very keen (still) on rouge noir.

I agree with you both re carbs, I have also cut out sweeteners and I can't explain why but am sure I feel better since doing this (few months ago).

Minor crossness today, lost my travel card (£15!) and had to cancel the sale of my buggy as the person who purchased it expected me to wait in for a courier (that would be around working in London, caring for little and tiny and generally running around like a loony - er no- I said collect in person!).

Hope you both (and anyone else- where did the other people go??) had a fab day :)

BeyondTheSea · 20/10/2014 21:29

Oh forgot to say - I did a a Great plains order, the teal dress had sold out but I ordered the flowery one and also:
media.greatplains.co.uk/ms/gp/J1CBS_model/1537/1024/Starchasers-Quilted-Dress.jpg?lc=en-GB&lv=5&404=gp/J1CBS.jpg
and this

dance class with Little and Tiny tomorrow - it's a bit tricky now Tiny won't stay in the buggy, I think I'll find something easier to do with the 2 of them next term. Little gets really annoyed as Tiny gets in the way!

BeyondTheSea · 20/10/2014 21:30

I ordered the jacket - hoping it will be longer on me (I'm 5f 4) otherwise I'll send it back.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 21/10/2014 11:57

I was in bed by 8.15pm last night and slept peacefully until DS1 barfed at 3 am. He is so my child, he got himself in to the bathroom and was sick in the sink and then put the tap on to clean it up. He was up most of the night so I'm in bits with exhaustion again today.

That's really annoying about your buggy Beyond, are you going to pop it up again on ebay? I love the clothes you picked out, they are lovely. Are really like the jacket, it's very Chanel. That dance class sounds cute. Are you gearing your DS up to be in a boyband hen he's older Grin

Green I think that you're doing really well. I know the diet might be a bit dramatic but it's a great way to kick start your weightloss. Think how skinny you'll be by Christmas, you'll be serving up dinner wearing a bikini to show off your new figure.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 21/10/2014 20:35

Sol you poor thing - hope your DS is improving and you all get some sleep tonight.
How's things Green?

Ds enjoys the class most of the time, it's a kind of dance and movement class and they have a theme each term. They both like to go out everyday, in fact the baby gets her shoes to remind me if I haven't taken them anywhere! I will try and sell the pram again but maybe leave for a few weeks. It's a bit too much effort...

Cajun chicken and roast veg tonight. Starting to feel a but bored but still motivated.

Greenrabbit · 22/10/2014 21:14

Hi, I had an okay couple of days. Yesterday was hard work, kept picking at things (mainly cheese) that the DC had left over. So today I had a tiny one egg omelette for lunch, then a meal replacement.
We ended up going out for dinner after parents evening. Normally I would have said no, but I had chicken salad and mussels. I did eat 3 chips, we hadn't ordered them but they turned up anyway. Oh and I nibbled at a slice of garlic bread. I still have a weird taste in my mouth so I'm guessing I'm in ketosis still. I drank loads of water too.

Hope you've both had a good day.

Got my Great Plains stuff today. The bag, necklace and a shirt are going back. The black shirt is nice so I'll keep that (and it fits!) and I'm keeping the dress, which is tight(for now).
Got the Ugg boots yesterday. Love them.

Greenrabbit · 22/10/2014 21:15

Oh I hope your DS is feeling better too Sol and you've had some sleep.

ToesAndFingers · 22/10/2014 21:37

Hi ladies, haven't been on here for a while. Some good progress here!

I was suspecting I was pg but I'm not. So diet went out the window for a week or so...

Anyway, decided more drastic approach is needed. I'm going to try 5:2 diet combined with low carbing. In fact today was my first fasting day but it didn't go that well... It's very easy to underestimate how many calories you have in your food! So instead of 500 I had 950 today Grin Oh well, had to start somewhere!

I think I'm going to lurk around the fasting board for now as I need some support/advice from those who are doing the same thing.

Good luck girls, you'll be slim and sexy by Christmas, I know it! Smile

Greenrabbit · 23/10/2014 21:38

Hi Toes, good luck with the 5:2. Let us know how you're getting on. Smile

SolitudeSometimesIs · 23/10/2014 21:57

Hi, sorry I've been absent, my children are tiny hitmen who are trying to kill me through lack of sleep. I have stuck to my low carb diet (apart from a bit of croissant and a bite of brioche) but I daren't weigh myself incase I've put on weight. I swear I'd cry.

Good luck with the 5:2 Toes, please let us know how you're getting on. Drop in for some diet talk/ fashion guru talk from Green and Beyond if you feel like it.

Was it nice to get delivered lots of new clothes for you to choose fromGreen? It must be great to try things on at home instead of in the confines of a badly lit dressing room. How goes the Exante? I think it's natural to go a little off the plan when you are in a restaurant, you chose healthy options and you have to eat in the real world some times. How did you get on today?

I have a bit of a challenge this weekend. DH is working away and I have the kids by myself. Normally I would get in some tasty food for the evenings to treat myself, but I don't want to do that. I want to stick to the plan but I want to have something nice also. I'm such an emotional eater, I know I need to find other things to indulge myself with but I want delicious food. God, I sound like a foot stomping toddler, BUT I WANT THE TASTY FOOD NOOOW!

Yeah, so any ideas on how to reign in my inner food toddler would be greatly appreciated.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 23/10/2014 23:14

Poor you Sol, you're doing so well for sticking to the low carb though. You won't have put on weight, don't worry. Just weigh yourself sometime next week when you feel better about it all.

How long is your DH away for? I do exactly the same when mine is away. Takeaway/ M&S, wine, crisps, choc, general rubbish food! I feel I deserve it because I always think he's having a nice time away from us all so I should have something nice too.

Could you make yourself some nice meals? My knowledge of vegetarianism is limited, but could you get quorn mince? You could fry it up with taco seasoning and wrap it in lettuce leaves, stick on some cheese/sour cream, guacamole? It would be low carb and the fat won't harm you (I've been reading up on low carb diets). Or quorn mince fried with onion, garlic, ginger, sherry and soy and wrapped in lettuce? You might think this is vile, sorry. I had this sort of thing a lot when I low carbed before, only using turkey mince. It was nice.
Or I would make a massive platter of chopped raw veg, some cheese, hummus, guacamole (home made) other dips maybe? Olives, and just pick at that while watching TV? You could have a gin or vodka tonic if you fancied a drink.

Or have a bath, read a trashy magazine. Paint your nails, do face masks and all that stuff. Then go to bed with some sparkling water or tea. If you have a laptop, or iPad or similar, or smartphone watch some beauty videos. (I love Sali Hughes and Vivianna does makeup). Alternatively watch some really rubbish TV (Geordie shore is my guilty pleasure).

Or internet shopping, very therapeutic I find!

Exante has went well today. Just had the 3 meal replacements. I need to start drinking more water though. I keep having coffee, so I'm drinking more than normal. I'm going to try to have a meal on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and see how I go with that. I have a lot of Exante to get through and I think it helps that I know that's all I can have during the day. I have no willpower when it comes to normal food.
I'm also scared to weigh myself, partly because of the meal, partly because I know I won't have lost as much as last week and lastly because my period is due tomorrow (according to the app on my phone) and I feel all bloaty.

It was exciting getting the clothes, I think most things I've bought this year have been from the supermarket! I wore the shirt today and felt pretty good. It will fit better when I lose some more weight, but I wasn't bursting out or anything like that. I'm keeping the dress, it's quite sparkly and I hope it will fit better by December so I can wear it on Christmas Day.

Greenrabbit · 23/10/2014 23:14

Another essay, sorry Grin

Greenrabbit · 23/10/2014 23:17

This is the type of thing I meant with the quorn mince wraps

SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/10/2014 12:15

Thanks for the link Green,

I might try to make a few nice meals, but I like the convenience of bunging some tasty stuff from M&S in the oven or ringing for a chinese takeaway. I'm like you, I feel I should have nice food because I know DH is eating out and having lots of beers. I know I have to retrain my brain but it's bloody boring.

I know how you feel about dreading weighing in. I'm avoiding the scales but I think I'll go James Duncan diet again starting the 3rd of Nov. I think Exante is worth sticking to. It's only a month and you seem to be doing very well. If nothing else it will give you a starting point for devising your own plan.

Those wraps look gorgeous. I'll definitely try them. You're right to keep the dress, it's lovely and I'm sure it will be great to wear on Christmas Day. That is if it's not too big by then Grin

Really struggling not to eat snacky food tonight. I have hit a wall of exhaustion from both of the kids being sick and the fact I have not had a full nights sleep since August. I got tearful about it all in the middle of the night (TinySol was up every 2 hours last night) DH was lovely and sent me back to bed with stern words not to come out of the bedroom and he would take care of Tiny. And he was as good as his word and I got some sleep. But the days are so tough too. There's no time to recover those lost hours of sleep and a house to keep running and all the mayhem that comes with 2 children.

I am locked in a battle with myself, my FatSol voice is telling me to have some of the sweets I bought for Hallowe'en, but DietSol is telling me it's not worth the hassle. Oh God, I have clearly lost my mind as I have named the voices in my head.

I've decided to have one nice thing tomorrow night if I feel like it. If I get a takeaway I will get tofu with a side order of veg and cashews (no rice), if I get something snacky from the shop I will have to skip dinner to make up for it. I need my splurges. I need to have something delicious that is just for me. However, instead of just mindlessly eating it I will savour it and enjoy it and then get back on plan on Sunday.

How's everybody else doing?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 24/10/2014 21:26

I'm feeling ill and tired. I was falling asleep earlier so I'm in bed now. Unfortunately DD2 is beside me snoring, she's teething so is very unsettled.

Sorry that you're feeling rubbish Sol. Could you just go to bed? It might help you escape the voices Smile. You need another early night.
I know what you mean about days being tough. There is always something to do, and the house never stays tidy. DD2 is trying to destroy our house. DH is always at work so does very little to help with housework. He hasn't done any DIY for ages either, so everything seems to be dropping to bits. It's not that I'm useless, it's just that you can't achieve much with 2 little helpers. I try not to think about it too much or I get myself down.

Your plan about the takeaway sounds very sensible and well thought out. Better to plan it than go crazy. I'm trying to approach things in a similar way.
You've just reminded me about cashews though. Mmmm nuts.

I've had an okay day. Had Exante pancakes for breakfast. Salad leaves with prawns and a small amount of avocado for lunch. Some green veg and chicken casserole for dinner and an Exante bar as a snack. I felt really hungry and picky, but I think I avoided a slip up. Oh I ate some cheese too, a small chunk not a block or anything. My period has started tonight so I hope that's the end of the picking.

Off to the In-laws for the night tomorrow. Going to take some Exante and MIL has promised lamb and veg for one meal, and omelettes if I want them.

Have a good day tomorrow. Ignore the voices, you want to be thin. We will do it this time.

How are you doing Beyond?

Clairol19 · 25/10/2014 07:09

Would you guys be interested in joining me on my 30 days to fit plan I'm doing? I've been focussing on my portion control and taking a metabolism booster that I'm losing 1-2 kilos a week with! And the best thing is I can eat with the three year old so she doesn't say "Why do I eat it when you won't?" :)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 25/10/2014 09:17

Hi Clairol, what metabolism booster are you taking? How does it work?

Had a bloody chocolate croissant for breakfast so there will be no takeaway or snacks this evening. I'm just so tired. I was up from 12.30 - 4.30am with DS2. DS1 was woken up during that time too so I've been up most of the night. I did manage an early night-I was in bed by 9.45 pm but I am really feeling the accumulation of broken sleep. I ended up watching Star Trek Into Darkness in the middle of the night to keep myself awake, there was a moment where I was standing cuddling DS2 that I felt I may have been asleep standing up.

Think we'll have a low key day here. Do some baking and Hallowe'en craft stuff with DS1 and just try to wear out DS2 (I'm considering inventing some sort of baby treadmill I can put him on to exhaust him). Salad, soup and no-pasta veggie lasagne on the menu today (I have proper lasagne made for the kids).

How did all the babies sleep? Can you bring some of your Exante food with you tonight Green? Do they have dessert options? If you have lots of DIY bits to do you can get Handymen to come in and do stuff for a reasonable price. There's loads of them around who used to work in the building trade and are out of work, maybe google it and have a look. I hate having "bits" of jobs left to do . As for the house being tidy? I settle for clean. There's bits of kiddy crap all over our house (scalectrix on the dining room table, emptied out toy drawers all over the place thanks to DS2 in his walker and 17 tons of artwork brought home from school that I can't bear to throw out)

Hope everyone has a good day today!

Sorry for my absence - had a busy end to the week.

Sol - no wonder you are exhausted. You are doing so well, it's really really blooming hard to diet when feeling so tired. I think you have done brilliantly despite Tiny and Little trying to kill you and the voices in your head :)
But actually I think it's ok for us all to have a day off, otherwise it's just so boring. I think it helps having a day to look forward to have something nice.
I think you could have a tofu/veg takeaway despite the chocolate croissant. Just be kind to yourself this weekend -it's been a tough week. Just being really good tomorrow. Are you going to weigh in before starting the diet again on the 3rd?
I hope you weigh in goes well Green and you enjoy your night away. I think your diet was really good for a pre period day. I am glad you are keeping your dress. So, I am keeping the Navy dress, the flowery one was too tight and the jacket too short. Navy dress is really flattering. Are you still bf Tiny? Have you found your milk supply less since starting exante?

We went to Disney on ice today - Tiny and Little loved it. I had planned today as a day off dieting and we went to pizza express for lunch but it was so disappointing. My pizza was soggy and I only ate half of (feel really bloated though) and we had to go before pudding because Little was exhausted and the waitress was really slow. I'm annoyed about the pizza (waste of calories and money - it cost £40 for all of us). Tiny and Sol absolutely fleeced us for Disney items, 2 light up wands, 1 Disney sword and a mickey mouse cup later...

House - the only way to go is get a cleaner and find a man that does :) We have found a decorator who we like that doesn't cost a fortune, someone to clean the oven Blush and we have a cleaner for 2 hours a week. We could do with finding come one to sort out the garage and garden, so might prioritise that and just not think of the money. At least it would be done... We did both take a day off this month when Tiny and Little were in nursery and decluttered the house, which really helped.

My weigh in this morning showed a 2lb loss. I really don't want to start losing a lb or STS though (It's so hards to keep motivated) so thinking about doing 2 weeks of exante or trying 5:2. I will see how my weigh in goes over the next 2 weeks.

Hope everyone has a nice evening. Sol I hope you get some rest.

Please can all the new mums babies sleep tonight!!

BeyondTheSea · 25/10/2014 20:14

Sorry forgot to say Green - hope you are feeling better.

ToesAndFingers · 26/10/2014 16:33

Sol your night sounds horrendous, poor you Flowers

Go easy on yourself! I agree with Beyond - have a treat. If you plan it ahead like you were going to it won't be that bad.

Well I've lost 4 lbs this week having done 2 fasting days, the first one being a bit of a fail at 900 cals and the second one a proper 500. It was actually much easier than I thought. I know it's mainly water but I feel very inspired!

I know it's not for everyone, but I really like it as it feels like you're not even in a diet at all. I'm actually quite looking forward to my next one tomorrow!

Beyond I suggest you give it a go. You can still do low carbing, just need to make sure you eat enough to maintain on non fasting days.

BeyondTheSea · 26/10/2014 17:10

Wow Toes - that's fantastic - I feel a bit inspired! What did you eat (or not!) on the fasting days?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 26/10/2014 19:33

Hi all,

Congrats on the 4 lbs Toes, that's brilliant. Especially considering that you weren't feeling hungry all the time. What do you eat on your fast days? Do you fast 2 days in a row?

Disney on ice sounds great Beyond. Even if it was expensive, kids are great at managing to wangle toys at those sort of events. Sorry that the pizza wasn't too good, Maybe you should mix up your dieting a bit to keep you inspired. Fancy doing the James Duncan starting the 3rd of Nov (Hopeful face emoticon).

Soooo, I went shopping today for jeans. And the size 16's I bought were too big! Yay! They are from Penneys (I think you call it Primark) and super skinny, super soft jeans. They are like pj's so I recommend them. I got size 14's but they are too tight, actually they are indecently tight across my backside. So I am a size 15? I was really happy with the change in my dress side. I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes that I hope not to be wearing for too long, having less of a variety will hopefully keep me on track.

I didn't get a takeaway last night, I was afraid the driver would wake DS2 if he rang the doorbell, so I had some crisps and some dry roast peanuts. I bought myself a bag of bacon fries (totally shite junk food but I love them) and I settled down to have them and watch Dr. Who, but they were completely stale. The bag must have burst in the shop weeks ago, they were foul. I had half of one and turfed the rest on the fire. Actually, there's a tip, if your fire is beginning to go out, chuck a full bag of bacon fries on to it and watch it erupt in flames, it was kind of cool.

Right, off to wrestle DS1 to bed.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 27/10/2014 09:35

Hi everyone, fantastic losses Beyond and Toes.

I would try the 5:2 before Exante Beyond, I liked it when I did it properly. Just don't order any shopping on a fast day. I kept doing that after a couple of months on it. So the day after I fast I'd end up with a lot of rubbish food that I'd dreamed of on the fast, but didn't actually feel like eating when it arrived ( but did anyway because I'm greedy - does that make any sense at all?)
I'm still bfing Tiny, the milk supply seems fine. Although I think I'm part diary cow now anyway. I just drink plenty and the extra meals probably help. We'll be featured on extreme breast feeding programmes when she's 8! I'm feeling better too, thanks.

Disney on ice sounds great. I think I'll book for next year. My 2 love Disney too. Can't wait to take them to Florida when they are older. Shame about your pizza though.

Toes - how much more do you want to lose? What did you have to eat on your fast days? Hope you have another good week.

Sol - your Friday sounded horrendous. I hope the rest of the weekend was not so bad, even if your crisps were stale. Good tip about the fire though, might work out cheaper than firefighters if I buy a 6 pack of bacon fries. I'd be sad about that, I do like bacon fries.
I've heard good things about those jeans too. (And hooray for size 15!)The M&S ones are quite good too, although not as cheap,or soft. Do you have a Sainsburys that sells clothes nearby? I like their Jeggings, only about £12, they are comfy but look like skinny jeans. I might try to get another pair tomorrow when the 25% is on.

I survived the weekend, stuck to meat/eggs and veg and Exante. Weighed myself today and I've lost another 3lb. So that's 14lb in 2 weeks. (Yay). Just got to keep going now. My stomach has gone right down and my waist is more defined. I'll be in that bikini for Christmas Day Wink
