Anybody fancy losing a stone and a half by Easter?

I have just weighed myself and the results were hideous. I need to start taking some steps to shift some pounds - the first one being moving away from the Christmas chocolates. Does anybody fancy joining me?
It is 16 weeks until Good Friday so losing a stone and a half is very doable. I am a ww monthly pass member but haven't attended meetings regularly or followed the plan properly since the Summer Blush
Please come and motivate me.

Baking: DS is absolutely fine now Smile and has mostly forgotten about his ordeal.

I do the 10 min HIIT described in the Smarter Science of Slim (e.g. Harward professor endorsed) book. I use my exercise bike and do 2 mins on a low setting, 30 secs on the highest setting (standing up on the pedals) as fast and hard as I can, then one and a half minutes low, then half a minute hard again, and repeat until you've done 4sets of hard bouts, then finish with another mins on a low setting. 10 mins all together and in every way as effective as doingvtraditional exercise classes 3 times a week.

It's really hard, though, when done right, and sometimes I almost would prefer the traditional way Confused

nice work folks
a quick mental tot-up (which might well be wrong) suggests that we have thus far lost a combined weight of 30.5lb!

MegBusset · 12/01/2014 09:01

How is everyone getting on? I've had a good week but not much shifting on the scaLes, have been 9.5.5 all week which is traditionally a 'sticky' weight for me and may take a couple of weeks to get past. Will see what happens on my official weigh in tomorrow!

Did get up at 7am today to run 5k so that ought to count for something...

Batbear · 12/01/2014 10:22

We'll done Meg - it's chilly out too!

I'm down 2lbs this week. Still struggling to put exercise in properly (4 month old is clingy at the moment) so walking with pushchair will have to do!

Sundays are traditionally tea at MIL's with the family for which she bakes all day. Having worked out the calories in a slice of her delicious apple cake I may have to starve all day - or just have a tiny slice (saying no is pretty tough).

Hope everyone else has had a good week!

SuckItAndSee · 12/01/2014 16:12

i am just back from a long lunch at the pub
i have nothing else to say

Coletteob · 12/01/2014 16:27

Hi I just wanted to introduce myself, Ive never signed up to one of these forums before, Im hoping to lose 3 stone. Looking forward to reading all the stories and tips!

Batbear · 12/01/2014 18:23

Welcome Coletteob

Weigh in is tomorrow (although I was eager and did today).

I had my DS 4 months ago and am aiming to drop the rest of the baby weight and the little bit of surplus I had to start with!

Here to motive/ inspire/ kick up the bum as needed!

CRbear · 12/01/2014 19:11

Congrats on all the weight loss!

Been bad this weekend, over my calorie goal this weekend, but under my daily requirement. I was, skiing for 5 hrs on Saturday which myfitnesspal tells me is high cal burning exercise so I'm hoping to still have lost something after a good week otherwise.

Some of my 10kg target is Christmas gain so I'm hoping to atleast get that off after reading that holiday wait often doesn't behave like "real weight" on here :)

Hope everyone had a better weekend than me diet wise. Proof will be tomorrow morning though...

CRbear · 12/01/2014 19:15

Good advice havetowearheals I have enjoyed crochet a lot in the past, will dig out my hooks!

SomethingLovely · 12/01/2014 20:05

Hi ladies.... Well done those who've had good weight losses already! I'm resisting til tomorrow to see if just cutting out excess crap food is enough! I've done a personal training session and quite a bit of walking this week but I have to motivate myself to run this week! Am doing a 5k at Easter which is no distance at all I know, but I've never got past one minute running, one minute walking.

Batbear I too have a four month old who is becoming more clingy in the day so finding time to make healthy food rather than just reach for something quick is proving hard - and I'm so tired! Had a naughty curry on Friday night because we had no energy to cook.

I do feel very motivated though, and it really helps knowing I have the weekly weigh-ins & the MN confessional...

IceBeing · 12/01/2014 23:02

I think I may chicken out of weighing tomorrow....AF arrived and brought the munchies with it....

I always go up a few pounds with the AF even if I don't give into the munchies.

I think I will cheat and post my weight from today which was:

10st 3. So a total of 5lbs lost so far for me.

Oh and 40 second plank yesterday! and I can suddenly do a few press ups. At xmas I literally couldn't even do one...now I can do like 5 but hey. It is odd because I haven't done anything arm strength building - I guess my problem was core strength not arms then?

maygirl · 13/01/2014 00:37

Good luck everyone for weigh in :)
I don't think I have lost anything much, clothes all still feel pretty tight.
I'm training for a half marathon and ran 10 miles yesterday, and didn't stuff myself afterwards! Eating mindfully and having half plate filled with veg. I know I probably need to commit to a specific diet plan/way of eating but can't face it, I'm so fed up of what feels like years of thinking about and measuring and recording food :(
sorry for self pitying rant!

CRbear · 13/01/2014 06:20

13st3 down to 12st12 since last Monday, 5 lbs off Wahoo!first time ever I have managed the Christmas gain before it got out of hand.

Onlyconnect · 13/01/2014 09:17

I am down just two and a quarter pounds since 2 Jan. I'm really disappointed as this normally I lose more in the first week or so.

SuckItAndSee · 13/01/2014 09:37

Morning losers. Well done.

I've lost a pound. Still, slow and steady wins the race, eh?

Start Weight - 12st 0
Current Weight - 11st 10
Total loss - 4lb.

ToysRLuv · 13/01/2014 09:50

I am down around 400-800 g from last week.. but that is the speed I have been going, so I guess it's ok. Am down to around 71.2 kg which I think was my last figure on mfp (from the other set of scales). That is a figure from yesterday. Today got 71.7 kg. Confused Ah well.. that is why I weigh myself daily..

Am now pretty firmly in the bmi "green zone", and starting to look quite good, so probably won't aim for a stone off at Easter after all. When I was anorexic in my teens (looked pretty awful and my periods stopped for a year), I was still technically a "healthy" bmi, so a third of a stone's loss is now probably more realistic and maintainable. I'll see how I get on..

Bakingnovice · 13/01/2014 11:26

Everyone is doing well. It's inspiring.

I've - I'm going to try the plank thing. Starting with 20 secs for the first few days. Really want to lose a few pounds this week as it'll motivate me to carry on into wk3.

I've not restarted my running yet! I have no excuse (pleading 5th amendment like suckit)

but around 1lb a week is the sustainable rate of loss
if you do it slow and steady you'll never have to do it again

IceBeing · 13/01/2014 12:22

Well done people! Would definitely second slow progress being better progress....on the weight loss thread I used last time there was someone who plugged away at 1lb a week and they have been the one that hasn't put anything back on and has now got the lowest BMI etc.

Would NOT recommend planking on AF....I won't go into details but seriously would NOT recommend!

MegBusset · 13/01/2014 13:14

No loss for me to report this week, despite sticking to my MFP allowance and exercising a fair amount...

...but then my period arrived yesterday (a week early Angry)

I have a feeling the two may be related! Ah well, onwards and downwards for next week...

IceBeing · 13/01/2014 15:57

I need to rant! My DH always comes up after settling the toddler and eats desert in my face. Always! Right when I am fighting the fridge raiding urge myself...up he comes with a fecking crumble or sandwich and sits next to me munching.

Okay end of rant.

TalkinPeace · 13/01/2014 16:02

he's being out of order
tell him how you feel and ask that he is supportive so that both of you are healthy when your grandchildren are toddlers

TimeToPassGo · 13/01/2014 16:08

Just saw this thread - I'm in!

Ice I would be having a word with your 'D'H if I were you. Not exactly supportive, is he? Hmm

CRbear · 13/01/2014 16:19

I feel your pain ice, my dp was the same and it sabotaged me. I explained how I struggled when he did it and he now does it on the nights I don't see him. Maybe you live with yours, but could he do it out of sight? Helps that my do has lost weight in the past so he understands though.

maygirl · 13/01/2014 22:20

No loss here this week, well done everyone who has :)
