Anybody fancy losing a stone and a half by Easter?

I have just weighed myself and the results were hideous. I need to start taking some steps to shift some pounds - the first one being moving away from the Christmas chocolates. Does anybody fancy joining me?
It is 16 weeks until Good Friday so losing a stone and a half is very doable. I am a ww monthly pass member but haven't attended meetings regularly or followed the plan properly since the Summer Blush
Please come and motivate me.

Talkingpeace unfortunately I have physical disabilities so there is no choice in the matter re exercise. I simply am not aloud to do any except the little walk i do in the flat going from one room to another which is not a lot at all. so my weight loss is completely relied upon food dieting :( I wish I could exercise as u rightly say it will be better as it will tome me up!

TalkinPeace · 02/01/2014 17:03

what about baked bean tin upper body exercises - surreal but rather good ....

DumDum32 · 02/01/2014 17:19

talkingpeace never tried it but could give it a go Grin

SomethingLovely · 02/01/2014 19:15

LilyJo - hope you made it through til meal time ok?! Takes some serious will power...

DumDum depending on how your disabilities limit what you can do, there are some seated workout books / DVDs I think on Amazon, if you were minded to try & get some exercise in somehow - but either way the diet part is a great start!

I did my starting weigh in this morning - 13 stone 7, my heaviest ever! So aiming for 12 stone if I can by Easter... And had a relatively good day today food-wise. PT session in the morning so I've officially started!

TeaOneSugar · 02/01/2014 19:39

I didn't manage to start the DVD today, my back is a bit sore today, hopefully tomorrow :)

I stuck to the diet plan though.

TeaOneSugar · 02/01/2014 19:40

Dumdum The rosemary conley dvd I've got has a seated routine.

MercuryRising · 02/01/2014 19:41

Icebeing we could definitely be the right thread for you. There is no set WI day although I am doing mine on a Tuesday. Are you following a particular diet plan or exercise regime?

I'll start on Monday.
One stone will be fine.

WhitWoo · 02/01/2014 19:52

Think I'm in too, if that's ok?

Just seen a hideous photo of myself taken on Christmas Day. I'm sat down, massive spare tyre(s), and about three chins. And to top it all off I've got roast potato in my hand!! Nice. I actually can't look at the photo for more than a second as I can't quite believe how bad I look! I think I've got the opposite of body dysmorphia- I kid myself I look ok when I'm stood in front of the mirror at a certain angle, breathing in and wearing spanx!

I'm definitely going to start trying to lose, I reckon I have about three stone to lose altogether but 1.5 would be a good start. Don't really know my plan yet, have never really dieted before. Just sat back and piled it on since I had the kids. Maybe low carb? I love food....

IceBeing · 02/01/2014 21:09

mercury well I lost 4 stone last year on a sort of 1200 kcal per day effort...which I am intending to take up again but I would really like to get some of the toned action that talkinpeace mentioned...I am totally up for any sort of exercise suggestions...I do fecking nothing at the moment!

DumDum32 · 02/01/2014 21:35

Hmmmm thanks for the ideas all sounds very promising especially the rosemary Connelly DVD idea :) I do think I should give the upper body stuff a go. Can't hurt to try can it??? Hmm

Not well ATM got a stomach virus thing going on so will get organised after it has passed but for now concentrating on diet & low carbing :)

kilimmesoftly · 02/01/2014 21:52

Hello everyone, I'd like to join please. Started yesterday - went for a long walk in the pouring rain so it seems I'm feeling pretty committed at last Grin Another fast walk today, and plan to try a DVD tomorrow. Food-wise, I'm trying not to be too extreme as (historically,) this makes me give up.

Planning to drink more water and miso soup, and ditch the lattes. More pulses and vegetables. Nothing too radical!

TeaOneSugar · 03/01/2014 17:29

I started last Friday (although i took a 3 day break for new year), weighed in this morning and I've lost 2lb.

No exercise done yet though.

TalkinPeace · 03/01/2014 17:36

Rule one of exercise.
Just start.
Watch this and go for it

singaporeswing · 03/01/2014 18:48

Just over 12st and best weight is just under 10st.

I've got a wedding on 10 April that I'm aiming for. I'll join you!

SomethingLovely · 03/01/2014 18:51

How's everyone doing? (Those that aren't waiting til Monday to start that is!)

I managed an hour's training this morning and walked a few miles, annual season ticket has run out & cos I'm on mat leave I've got to watch the pennies - so more walking, less bus! So ok on exercise but food choices were pretty crap, not many calories but not nutritious - baby was hard work this afternoon so didn't have time to get something decent... Think that'll be my biggest challenge!

When I get a sec on the computer rather than iPad I'll add in those people to the list who couldn't copy & paste.

IceBeing · 03/01/2014 19:51

Okay I did some exercise...a tiny bit of 'core' strengthening stuff.

I have concluded that I have no core muscles!

Slow going but started!

SpecialCircumstances · 03/01/2014 20:46

Can I join? I'll be 30 in march and still haven't lost my last 8lbs if baby weight (put 5st on whilst pregnant!) If I could do a stone and a half by Easter that would be amazing!
Probably smaller portions, mfp tracking possibly 5:2 and shredding!

I really don't want to be 30 and fat!

LilyJoAndMe · 03/01/2014 21:25

Hi there I've spent long time looking into the 5:2 stuff and have already done 2 fasting days. The first was ok, but the second was hard .
I've lost 2 pounds but can't copy the list to add myself. I don't know why.

Would someone do it for me please ?

Lilyjoandme 168lbs (76kg)
wants to get to 143lbs (65kg)
by Easter

Thanks and all the best to everyone - especially those on FDs today.

TalkinPeace · 03/01/2014 21:56

lilyjo
first fast is always easier than the 2nd
because first one your body is like a cat "ooh this in new"
second fast, your body is like a toddler "oh bugger, not this again"
BUT
by the fifth or 6th, the positive feedback from the rest of your system overrides the sulking from your no longer stuffed tummy ...

LilyJoAndMe · 03/01/2014 22:27

Thankyou thankyou TeaonesugarSmile

LilyJoAndMe · 03/01/2014 22:30

Talkinpeace
ConfusedOMG you missed out the 3rd and 4th. Those are my next ones and now I'm scaaaarerred !

TalkinPeace · 03/01/2014 22:41

Lilyjo
You did the first one.
You are on the path to success.
You just have to believe in yourself - like the rest of the 5:2 posters (including me) believe in you.
3 and 4 will rattle past with a grumble and then seven will come round and it will be habit.

I'm restarting on Monday after two weeks off. I feel a right lardarse as I've eaten pastry and cheese and meat and drunk wine every day.

I am really, really looking forward to going hungry for a quiet day while I clean the house with the kids at school.

And to everybody else on the thread.
You've probably spotted me being a tad 'fiery' on an aibu thread
its only because I know, as you may not yet know, how good it feels to succeed
and that is why folks like me keep posting on threads LONG after we have "hit target" because we know
you're worth it
