Anybody fancy losing a stone and a half by Easter?

I have just weighed myself and the results were hideous. I need to start taking some steps to shift some pounds - the first one being moving away from the Christmas chocolates. Does anybody fancy joining me?
It is 16 weeks until Good Friday so losing a stone and a half is very doable. I am a ww monthly pass member but haven't attended meetings regularly or followed the plan properly since the Summer Blush
Please come and motivate me.

Hi anchories I am still here, just don't manage to post very often! Hope your trip went well.

Right, well I am back in the 10's again so I am pleased about that, hopefully it will stay that way. Have been pretty active these last few days, gardening and decorating so that has helped burn a few calories and have been to busy to keep snacking.
Anyone else still out there??

Happymum1985 · 12/03/2014 13:05

Hi, can I join? On a mission to lose my last stubborn 1/2 stone by Easter. Need some buddies to keep me on the straight and narrow. I've quit my true love: sugar...

RufusTheReindeer · 14/03/2014 19:24

I only post when I weigh in, and I do that on a Saturday.

Not looking forward to tomorrow, I am still working on it but even though I am not going too overboard I think the weight loss is slowing right back down

Still, see what happens tomorrow...and still a few weeks left til Easter

RufusTheReindeer · 15/03/2014 09:53

Yay me, lost 2 lbs

Going to really try hard again this week as I only have two pounds left to go to reach the initial 1.5 stone target

I do want to lose a bit more between 7lbs and 15 lbs but that will be well past Easter!

tiaramasu · 15/03/2014 19:42

Well done Rufus.
Am in two minds whether to stay on here [was anchories] or to start a new thread?
Think I need an almost daily thread to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Find myself quite similar to Happymum 1985, even my words!
Would you like to start a new thread Happymum?

RufusTheReindeer · 16/03/2014 10:28

Happy to come on here daily if you would like

We could keep it going til we are both at target

I am at least staying on here til Easter

tiaramasu · 16/03/2014 10:38

Yes please Rufus.
I did start another thread, but no takers so if you are willing and able, that is fine by me!

My possible problem is even if I do manage to shed some weight, it is a long time, weight wise till end of June.
But think I ought to start in earnest now? I am unwilling to do fad diets so will have to do it the hard slog way I think.

RufusTheReindeer · 16/03/2014 13:31

I have another 2lbs to go until I have lost 1.5 stone and hit the Easter target

I am really chuffed with myself and I think it's all down to the calorie counting which brings it home to me how high in cals everything I like is!

If I can lose weight at the same sort of rate of 1-2 lbs a week I think I want to lose between 5 and 14 lbs (once at 1.5 stone target weight)

So that will probably take me up to June anyway

I over indulged yesterday so the plan for this week is to have between 1000 and 1200 cals today (tea is 760!!!) and aim for 1000/1200 for between 2 and 3 days this week with 2 to 3 days at 500. This is partly because I am up at the pub for dinner and drinks on Thursday so will probably have to be rolled out of there!

How about yourself? What have you tried so far?

tiaramasu · 16/03/2014 13:40

Well done!
I lost 1 and a half stone after having all my babies years ago. I did it over 8 months and still remember it.

I was going to ask if it is in essence calorie counting still. It seems to be to me.

In the intervening years I have been able to gradually shift the excess.
I think I am just slightly oanicking that I wont be able to do it this time because it is more important, and because, being older, it seems harder to shift than it used to be.

tiaramasu · 16/03/2014 13:42

I was doing it a bit lightly and presuming I would lose a pound here and there. But if anything, I have put on a bit.

I do find it easier to lose weight in the summer months as I dont actually want much chocolate and crisps. And actually want the fruit and veg.
But I am a bit scared to hope all comes well from May onwards.

RufusTheReindeer · 16/03/2014 14:59

My usual diets have been along the lines of slimming world but I find it difficult to maintain the diet long term, something always crops up!

I think that in your case maybe looking at your intake of calories and making sure that it is where it should be would be helpful, you don't want to lose a lot or too soon and I always find maintaining my target weight easier than losing

Still onwards and downwards!!! And I agree weight comes off easier for me as well in the summer, not so much comfort eating!

tiaramasu · 16/03/2014 15:11

Thank you for your helpful posts.

RufusTheReindeer · 17/03/2014 20:14

Right, today was supposed to be a fast day so 500 cals, by the end of lunch I had eaten 400

Not the end of the world, I was going to have soup for tea with my husband who still isn't home yet.

It's a big pan of soup and one quarter is 260 cals but I would probably eat less than that. I think I'm going to skip it and just have a low cal hot chocolate (especially as I pinched some of the kids pasta!!!!)

Tomorrow I'm going to try and stick to 1000/1200, fast day on Wednesday, out for tea on Thursday so I will try and be good til tea time, then a mini fast/fast on Friday to make up for Thursday!

Then I'm off for an Indian all you can eat buffet on Saturday (oops Blush)

Hope you had a good day (anyone who might still be here)

Ooh DH is back

tiaramasu · 17/03/2014 20:17

I'm here!
I found that soup is surprisingly low cal so have some from time to time.

Dont think I am going down the 5:2 route. Did look at it on a long thread on here. Pretty sure I would not stick to it. Glad that others can though.

tiaramasu · 17/03/2014 20:38

I hereby, RufusTheReindeer, ask for your forgiveness.

RufusTheReindeer · 17/03/2014 21:21

You are forgiven tiaramasu

Soup is a good one, love Heinz lentil soup, half a tin is about 95 calories which is enough for me. Not sure why my lentil soup is so high in calories Hmm

Not sure the 5:2 is working for me, I think it's probably the overall calorie reduction. My TDEE at goal weight is 1600, and should probably be about 1800 at the moment and I have really cut down

When I am at goal I may try to really work at the 5:2 or 6:1 to maintain

I have turned into a calorie bore! But only on here...

FrantasticO · 17/03/2014 21:53

Can I join for the next round of wt loss please?
Aiming for a stone would like it off tomorrow
Hoping its gone by end of April early may!
Planning on mfp and lots of exercise
why is there not a cream cake while sitting on the couch diet, sigh

Will post tomorrow if you will have me?! Grin

JokersGiggle · 17/03/2014 22:00

Here I am!
Marking my spot - will post tomorrow Smile

JokersGiggle · 17/03/2014 22:04

I only have 5lb to loose before reaching my target - will you still have me? Didn't think this was the thread for me as only have a little bit left to loose, not a stone and a half......
Forcing myself to stop stressing over stuff and go to bed now. Night night

RufusTheReindeer · 17/03/2014 22:32

Yay! More people

Yes please do join us, Easter isn't far away now and my initial 1.5 stone target is only 2 pounds away

I'm going to try and keep going though because ideally I would like to lose between 7 and 14lbs more

Saving exercise as my secret weapon, though I have a really flobby tum and should really start toning before it sags to my knees

JokersGiggle · 18/03/2014 09:28

I took up bellydance to sort my tum out - I do a lesson with a teacher once a week, practice for half an hour everyday and its now flat! And my waist goes in!
I could recommend some DVDs of you would like?
Doing just bellydance got me down to a 27 inch waist Smile

Now its just my bum left for me to sort out.

JokersGiggle · 18/03/2014 09:29

Today is a good day Smile feeling really proud that i'm not far off my final target Grin

Its been hard work

RufusTheReindeer · 18/03/2014 10:29

Ooh yes please jokers

How much did you have to lose and how have you done it so far

JokersGiggle · 18/03/2014 10:58

I'm 5ft 2. Started st 12st 3 i'm now .....DRUM ROLL......8st 2!

JokersGiggle · 18/03/2014 11:09

So far.
No added sugar to anything (couldn't give it up completely as wanted fruit), gave up processed meats. Made my own bread and granola and generally more homemade stuff so I could see what was going in it. Mainly portion control as my diet was ok, just eating to much of it. Really got into making Chinese food as its very quick to make and full of veg and lean meats.
Lots of exercise, fun stuff like dance, walking a friend dog, I also started initiating sex more for the cardio workout!
Bellydance DVDs that are great are : autumn ward - bellydance beautiful technique from step one. The beginners path to flawless artistry.
Any Tejal ones are good but autumn ward is great for learning the moments. She also looks like a really woman!
The main thing is to stick with it each day. People I know who just do the weekly class haven't seen much change but as I've been doing half an hour (at least) each day I've seen massive massive changes. It really works your muscles in a controlled way.....your pelvic floor won't know what hit it!
