Anybody fancy losing a stone and a half by Easter?

MercuryRising · 27/12/2013 09:30

I have just weighed myself and the results were hideous. I need to start taking some steps to shift some pounds - the first one being moving away from the Christmas chocolates. Does anybody fancy joining me?
It is 16 weeks until Good Friday so losing a stone and a half is very doable. I am a ww monthly pass member but haven't attended meetings regularly or followed the plan properly since the Summer Blush
Please come and motivate me.

I might keep going on the sugar front then. No one at work takes sugar so I always feel like the faffy one asking for it on tea rounds. anyway!

yes some weights or even just using your own body weight- press ups/squats.

have you tried 30 day shred? you continue to burn calories at a higher rate through the day after strength training.

have you ever tried low carbing? you dont have to go to extremes but I would drop some carbs (esp the refined type) and up your protein I'm a yo-yo dieter, maintaining is my issue, but low carbing absolutely works and you don't get hungry which really helps. my DH has lost 3 stone in 2 months by just dropping the carbs from.ordinary meals. he's recovering from a knee op which stopped him exercising so he gained weight and needed to shift it with diet alone

AllYourBassClefsBelongToUs · 17/02/2014 20:25

Funnily enough I got to day 5 of Shred then found out I was pg second time around. I will start that again, it was great, had totally forgotten about it.

I'm a bit funny about anything that sounds faddy, but loads of people have suggested low carbing so I think I need to check it out. I wouldn't say I ate loads of carbs but I hate the idea of having to check everything I put in my mouth to see what's in it. I just thought I could eat less and exercise loads and it'd be easy, but it turns out it isn't! I need to get a plan, don't I?!

Pompbear · 17/02/2014 20:33

low carb is pretty easy because you can pretty much eat unlimited everything else!

I don't super low carb, so I make chunky homemade coleslaw to eat with lots of things, like code smeared with pesto, wrapped in parma ham. chicken stuffed with garlic cream cheese and wrapped in ham.

last night I had roast veg with a bit of pesto (swede, mushroom, courgette), sea bass and cabbage in a bit of leftover creamy cheese sauce cheese and sour cream) was delish!

AllYourBassClefsBelongToUs · 17/02/2014 20:44

I think a lot of my problem is the kids as we all eat the same thing and I wouldn't want to inflict my dietary requirements on them. But the way we do things sort of goes against my natural instinct iykwim. Like if I was single I would probably just have a lump of cheese and a pickled onion for tea or something, but DH is a 'proper tea' sort of fella.

I will research low carbing though, your man's success speaks volumes!

Pompbear · 17/02/2014 22:09

yeah, you have to be a bit inventive. sausages with veg plus mash for everyone else. I substitute potatoes for swede, butternut squash, or cauli cheese. make curry and have it with roast cauli, rice for everyone else, chilli_ same. roasts are good. it easier than you first think! you have to FAFF a little but I bulk prep my sides. its mainly those you have to be inventive with

Sugar! I've been trying to give up since last year. After 4 weeks of no sugar I caved this week and have had some in my tea. Tea without it tastes like boiled water. I'm mad for giving on though. I swear it'd be easier to give up cocaine than sugar.

At work I never have sugar in drinks as no one else does and I find it embarrassing asking for some. It doesn't help that it's hidden in virtually all food. I cook from scratch but most sauces, dips, fish fingers, bread cereal have sugar in them. It's a bitch to give up.

Batbear · 24/02/2014 06:50

We've all gone quiet again!
I've stayed the same this week, but took my eye off the ball for 4 days after a nasty cold and my DC's Christening.

Am back on it again today so hope that I'll be down later this week.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

Teaat3Ten · 24/02/2014 09:40

I'm still here! Had a week off for half term but weighed in today, 1lb on for me, but after the amount of rubbish and treats I consumed last week it is hardly surprising.
Back on it now, breakfast logged, shopping done so plenty of healthy foods back in the fridge. No excuses, need to see that 10stone something again on the scales.

Have a good week everyone!

Batbear · 24/02/2014 14:06

I'm struggling to stick to it today after days of ignoring MFP I want to eat all the time! Tea I need to do my planning and shopping I think!

Teaat3Ten · 24/02/2014 20:38

How did the rest of your day go Batbear? I have logged everything today, the first time in nearly a week!
Shopping and planning is the way to go-if I know what I have to eat each day and have all the ingredients to hand I find I am less likely to lose the plot!

Pompbear · 24/02/2014 22:13

baking - yep me too. I feel a bit embarrassed having sugar in coffee, stupid really. but I'm still trying!

Pompbear · 24/02/2014 22:15

oh and I've lost 3lbs. could/should have lost more but I had a crappy week and consoled myself with a Chinese takeaway. not good but done loads of exercise. how's everyone else doing?

Batbear · 27/02/2014 00:47

Well done Pompbear!

Still not quite back on track, but meal plan sorted from tomorrow so starting again when I wake up.

Baby is sleeping badly which hasn't helped, but no more excuses!!

Bakingnovice · 27/02/2014 14:36

Well done Pom! After 4 weeks of no sugar in drinks I started having a biccie and realised I was substituting the sugar in the tea for the biccie. So I'm back to one sugar in my tea. Two cups a day.

Bat bear you seem to be doing well. It's half term here and I've been picking. I lost nothing last week and am hoping for 1lb off this week. Still haven't lost anything yet. Wish me luck.

Where is everyone? Lets pick up the momentum as we head towards Easter. Lighter than ever!

RufusTheReindeer · 28/02/2014 17:11

I'm still here, I was in London/ at dads for a whole week over half time and found it too difficult to watch what I was eating

From Monday this week I have tried to be good (let down today by some shortbread) and I will weigh in tomorrow

If I maintain I will be pleased, if I lose any I will be well chuffed. If I gain I need to have my treaty Saturday and GET OVER IT!!!!!!

RufusTheReindeer · 01/03/2014 13:30

Lost a pound, so pleased...but now I'm thinking "2 would have been nice"

Still before lily gets her rara skirt back on

I am very pleased...roll on next week !

AllYourBassClefsBelongToUs · 03/03/2014 20:17

Baking I can't tell you how hard it was for me to give up sugar in tea, but after I'd pushed through for a few weeks it started to feel normal. It helped me to work out how many cals I was consuming in that form - I'm a tea addict so it worked out at over 2000 per week!! Someone told me that 750 cals equals 1 lb in weight so I figured that by giving up sugar I'd lose 3lb a week without doing anything else.

I think I was over optimistic, but maybe my body is being slow to respond and it'll all start melting away soon??

After a loss of 3lb last week I'm now back to where I was. I don't understand it - I'm doing free weights now on top of the cardio. My next step is giving up alcohol which I have reduced but think I need to cut out entirely to see real results.

Teaat3Ten · 06/03/2014 21:19

Where has everybody gone? I'm still hanging in here, managed to get rid of the 1lb I put on at half term, need to see the scales showing 10 something(again)
Have plenty of painting and decorating to do so hopefully that will burn a few calories and keep me away from the biscuits!

RufusTheReindeer · 08/03/2014 13:15

I'm still here but I weigh in on a Saturday

Technically I have lost another lb making 1 stone and 3lb in total.

I want to lose between 9 and 17lbs.

The thing is I weighed myself yesterday morning (not sure why) and I had gained a pound so made yesterday a fast day...so I cheated really

Last week was not a good week and I keep having Saturday as a treat day when I eat my own body weight in rubbish!!

So new plan (starting tomorrow Grin) back to strict calories counting of between 1000 and 1200 calories, at least two 500 fast days and on Saturdays I can have maybe 500 calories extra so 1700 or 1500

And then see what happens, because otherwise it's going to take me ages to lose the rest of my weight

How is everybody else doing....are we on target????

anchories · 09/03/2014 18:23

Am tempted to join you all?

My goal is different, and I dont want to lose a lot of weight, so not sure if you want me or if I qualify as such.

Also, I am afraid, I cannot be bothered to read the whole thread, which may mean I am being awfully rude Blush

RufusTheReindeer · 09/03/2014 19:46

Welcome to the thread

Not rude I don't think, but do you want to lose any weight or just not much?

Maybe we should change it to personal goal by Easter (not goal otherwise I am truly buggered)

anchories · 09/03/2014 19:52

I want to lose about half a stone [could do with losing more, but that will do] by end of June. As my daughter is getting married!
If I lose too much, even if I managed it, my outfit, which I am going to buy tomorrow, will be the wrong size!
When I tried it on, it does fit, but is maybe a wee bit snug. And obviously, it will look better and I will look a bit better with not quite so many lumps and bumps.

Thank you for accepting me.
It wont hurt to go and read some of the thread at some point.

And gosh no, I dont expect you to alter it to goal or whatever.
It was the timeframe that doesnt quite fit for me. But that is certainly my problem, not yours!

anchories · 10/03/2014 22:07

Hmm. No more replies. Me thinks that this thread is dying.
I think I am going to need one that is a bit livier!
Am going away for 3 days.
If it hasnt livened up by the time I get back, I think I will need to find a livlier one or start one myself. As I need to keep on the straight and narrow, and basically need poster support.
