Anybody fancy losing a stone and a half by Easter?

I have just weighed myself and the results were hideous. I need to start taking some steps to shift some pounds - the first one being moving away from the Christmas chocolates. Does anybody fancy joining me?
It is 16 weeks until Good Friday so losing a stone and a half is very doable. I am a ww monthly pass member but haven't attended meetings regularly or followed the plan properly since the Summer Blush
Please come and motivate me.

Hi Rufus Grin,
No rocking in a corner. Whatever's the score - come here and rock.

I'm 5:2 ing too. If you go over your TDEE with your calories then you can have a fast day to keep getting a calorie deficit over all .Smile

RufusTheReindeer · 14/02/2014 19:33

Thanks lily

Trouble is with me is that I do well for a few weeks and then sabotage myself!!

Didn't even keep to the 500 cals on my fast days although I am eating less overall

Tomorrow is another day (goes all Scarlette Ohara)

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 12:36

Awwww Rufus ((((HUGS))))
You know it's hard to change habits. But I think you're doing really well.

It might be worth looking at what was happening when you started caving in last time and then take it from there.

I've found out that a biggie for me is being tired. Over the last few months I've started to downtool when I'm tired and - wow - get this - I even go to bed early and then even go to sleep ! This is big stuff for me. In the past I would have snacked.

So how's it going out there ?

Here post - Valentine's meal and ate so much I'm still feeling full - so fasting for today. Smile

caketinrosie · 15/02/2014 12:49

Can I join in? I'm as fat as a fool at the mo. I lost loads of weight ( 2st ) last year then got all lazy and greedy again so now back where I started. I'm so mad with myself! So line up please to kick me in the ass. I'm heading back to SM as that word for me. Although the idea of sitting round for the big boring droning talk after weigh in sends me cold. Surely there must be a slimming group that actually motivate their clients not bore them rigid! Honestly half an hour of, Shirley lost half a pound this week woo Shirley tell us what you did sends me crazy. Especially when Shirley takes half an hour to waffle about her free soup recipe. Am I vile? I honestly feel great empathy and support for my fellow dieters but surely we could just race through the weights and spend more time on other stuff?? Rant over sorry. Sad

caketinrosie · 15/02/2014 12:49

*worked oops

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 13:02

HahaGrin
Loved your rant ! Welcome to the thread .
And good luck on your weight loss project too.
I do 5:2 and that's working for me. I also started doing exercise to help shift it. So far I haven't done any today. I usually do it in the morning but I was too tired so I'm saving it for Ron. Grin

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 13:04

ps - don't slink away to eat cake Cake. You should look at the title of the new 5:2 thread - that 'll make you laugh- same to you Rufus. Grin

caketinrosie · 15/02/2014 13:14

Thanks all! I found hitting my body combat class at least twice a week combined with the sw plan got me an average of 2-3 lbs off a week. Don't feel to keen to return to quorum bacon though Grin

caketinrosie · 15/02/2014 13:14

*QUORN!!! Damn my sausage fingers!!

RufusTheReindeer · 15/02/2014 13:42

Right, I absolutely have a wasting disease as I have lost another 2 lb

That's a just over a stone lost from the 4th of January

I am still going to stick with really going back to basics Monday week because I think I can get to complacent and go back to my old ways

Thanks for your pep talk lily and welcome cake completely agree with your SW comments, we had a room full of Shirley's!!!!

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 16:49

Well done Rufus!
I'm amazed at how you don't take credit for your success ! It's all down to your hard work ! ( and definately not my ra ra skirt ) I can't see how you've got to the conclusion that you've got a wasting disease Numpty.
Can't you be a little bit proud of yourself ? Or are you afraid of being called a Shirley? Well let me tell you something girl - as far as I'm concerned whatever you say I'll call you Rufus !
So go on girl - blow your own trumpet !
I'm so pleased I've lost 2lbs this week and I'm trying on clothes I've not been able to get into for ages . I'm loving every minute of it - couldn't give a monkey who calls me Shirley !Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 15/02/2014 18:07

lily bless your heart

I think it's because this is the most weight I've lost in the least amount of time and I'm a bit of a pessimist

Although I have been naughty I am obviously still cutting down a lot on my good days and it's balancing out

I don't have very high expectations for half time and I will be well chuffed if I maintain.

In the past I have lost a few pounds, been a bit naughty and gained them and then thought fuck this for a game of monkeys!!

That's really what I want to avoid in the future

(And I think your ra ra skirt is helping!!! And I do have some free soup recipes Blush)

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 19:32

Aww go on enjoy your success so far ( pretty please).
Glad the ra ra skirt's helping - sometimes I'm not sure if I look a bit of a chump in it to be honest . Though since losing the last 2lbs I probably look a bit better in it - though I say it myself ( oops am I being a Shirley again Smile).

Give us some of your soup recipes Rufus eh !

RufusTheReindeer · 15/02/2014 19:47

Yay me!

Grin Grin

Happy dance!!!!!!

See now I'm knackered....

LilyJoAndMe · 15/02/2014 20:01

Eh - is that a ra ra skirt I see you in Rufus ?

RufusTheReindeer · 15/02/2014 20:44

Nope.. You've obviously just caught a glimpse of my husband

I apologise profusely

I will get him to take the skirt off immediately !!!!!

Thanks for all your support lily

Batbear · 15/02/2014 20:53

Rufus well done! Welcome cake and great cheering Lily!!

I'm 1st 1 lb down from where I started now and I would be delighted with 1 more stone.

My problem has been repeated yo-yoing up and down once I'm at a decent weight. I really want to learn what to do to maintain my weight once I'm there and not have it as something which is hard work.

I'm using MFP at the moment and will carry on once I'm at my goal weight for a while until I know what I am doing I suppose..

RufusTheReindeer · 15/02/2014 21:30

batbear same here. I would like to lose between 11 and 19 lbs and I have difficulty in remembering how to maintain

I think I would like to have 4 days at 1200/1400 calories, 2 days at 500 and 1 day of not worrying about it (not eating everything in sight!)

Still feels like a long way away to get to target but three people have noticed I've lost weight this week. So it's obviously making a difference!

Good luck for this week all off you, hopefully I will be back on the first Saturday in march

Bakingnovice · 16/02/2014 06:46

Well done rufus!

If I lose this week it'll be a full stone lost. If I lose 2lb it'll be down into the lower stone bracket. That would be amazing for me.

Well done lily and everyone else.

Pompbear · 16/02/2014 18:13

a bit late to the party but can U join? i have quite a bit to lose but I need to break it down I think.

Start weight (eek!): 14.8Angry Angry
Easter goal: 12.13

Because I'm DESPERATE to see 12 stones on the scale. so just a snip over 1 and a half stones.

I'm low carb/Cambridge combining so I should lose fairly quickly. famous last words!

Pompbear · 16/02/2014 18:14

I! stupid phone. can I join!!

RufusTheReindeer · 16/02/2014 18:48

Go for it pompbear

Welcome!!

AllYourBassClefsBelongToUs · 16/02/2014 20:04

When is Easter?? I need to lose a stone by April 8th which is 2lb a week. It sounds really doable but so far... nada.

I'm only 2 weeks in but if anything I've put on. I've given up sugar almost completely (I was having 20 spoons a day in tea, it was ridiculous), and I do cardio for 1-2 hours a day. I feel fitter already but why is my weight not dropping? :( I hardly eat anything.

I just don't get it.

Also I'd love tips on how to get rid of a belly. Am other side of 2 pregnancies and was always slim but now my stomach is disgusting. I'm planking every day, I don't know what else to do!

Am 5ft 9inch and 11 stone exactly. I want to be 10 stone.

Pompbear · 17/02/2014 19:03

Allyour, what are you eating in a typical day?

you tend to lose slowly when you don't have a lot to lose in the first place too.

why so much cardio? could you replace some with strength training (also better for weight loss).

well done of kicking your tea sugar habit. i've swapped to sweeteners and I'm gradually reducing how much I use but I'm not sure I'll ever give it up!

AllYourBassClefsBelongToUs · 17/02/2014 19:45

It took me 4 attempts to quit sugar. I kept saying "I'll just have sugar in my morning and nighttime cup, the rest I won't" and it didn't work. I just had to go cold turkey! 3 weeks on I'm just getting used to it, it was totally worth the shaking and sweats though.

So much cardio because I enjoy it (high impact dancing, and running). Should I get some dumbells or something? I can't get to a gym because of the baby.

Typical day I have muffin and fruit for breakfast, leftovers from last nights tea for lunch, evening meal of meat n 2 veg, or cottage pie, or pasta. Really small portions though - my 2 year old eats more! I don't snack, eat chocolate, drink coke etc. I only drink tea or milk or wine Blush or water. We don't go out, and we get takeaway once a week but I make it last 3 meals!

I feel like I'm getting nowhere.
