I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

I done a tesco order last night to come on Thursday, that's when I start. I've ordered lots of celery and peppers which I plan to have cut up ready in the fridge for snacking on. Also rice cakes and plenty of fruit. I was actually a little shocked by paying attention to how many biscuits, crisps and chocolate are in my favourite items Blush

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 31/12/2013 13:16

Oh and I went along to my local slimming works meeting for the first time last night and it wasn't on, next week feels like a long time awaySad

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 13:20

OnlySeven Tesco is WATCHING you...

MyNameIsKenAdams · 31/12/2013 13:33

Anyone else got The Twitch - I really want to get on the scales!

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 31/12/2013 13:34

Yes, doubt I've lost since yesterday though!

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 14:00

Oh yes, but must resist until Monday. I'm afraid I went feral on the Coop sandwiches, so no fast for me today - but if I just eat what we've planned for tea, I will still be under my daily calories, so I think I'm going to have to accept that fasting on a work day is not really going to happen. Too hungry to concentrate, and I really do need to be able to concentrate. Have closed my mfp diary for the day to try and ensure that I don't eat anything else.

And will dig out crochet hooks for tonight, I think I need some wristwarmers

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 31/12/2013 14:25

Good twitch, I've lost another 1lb! I'm thinking to make it clearer to see we should have a format for posting weight loss.

Since last weigh-in: 1lb
Total lost: 2lb

wood being under your calorie allowance is the important thing.

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 14:35

I don't think I'm going to be able to resist weighing tomorrow morning. I've been eating less per day than I have for weeks.

Also, I found a lovely lovely pair of size 12 jeans that used to fit me perfectly. I'm about 3" round my waist away from fitting into them at the moment - I have decided that they are my target for now - weight loss is great, but I would like to have a more tangible target as well. I'm currently tight in a 16...

emmief77 · 31/12/2013 14:39

talkinpeace suggested I came over to you join you?? Xmas Grin

I'm 5ft 3 and no idea how much I weigh, all I know is I wear size 16 clothes Blush, and have stopped taking care of myself. Went to an exercise class on Sunday, and saw my reflection in their large full length mirrors that cover one length of the studio. gulp... Sad

TalkinPeace · 31/12/2013 15:17

earthymama
there is a poster of the 5:2 threads called breadandwine
he is a vegan grangad who runs breadmaking classes - he's a mine of information for yummy food using only parts of the supermarket.

emmief77
This thread is a corker.
Lots of people setting themselves a really good goal and motivating each other to stick with it.

Interesting tip for sustainable weight loss maintenance / healthy eating

Look up your TDEE - lots of calculators online.
Now look up your TDEE for where you want to be in a year's time - so a year older but 52lb lighter.
See if you can eat within THAT TDEE during the week
Because if you get used to eating the right amount for the slim you, you'll get slim and stay slim.

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 16:01

TalkinPeace can I clarify something with you?

My current TDEE is 1983cals. If I ate this every day, would I lose weight? My TDEE for 1 year from now is 1783cals. If I eat this every day, will I gradually drift down to 10st6 and then stay there?

I don't quite understand exactly how it works

TalkinPeace · 31/12/2013 16:21

woodburner
If you stay within 1983 every day, you will stay the same weight.

If you stay within 1983 five days a week and 500 calories two days ( 5:2 intermittent fasting ) you will lose weight.

If you stay within 1783 every day you will steadily lose weight but not very fast.

If you stay within 1783 four days a week, 500 two days a week and relax one day a week you will lose weight noticably faster .....

And 1783 calories a day allows for some rather nice meals Smile

mootime · 31/12/2013 16:25

So I'm planning on starting on Monday properly. Is there anyone else starting then? 6wo is having his tongue tie cut on Thursday so it's going to be a long weekend and I really don't want to set myself up for a bad start.
Good going to those of you who have already started and good luck to those who are starting tomorrow.

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 19:49

TalkinPeace thanks for that, got it!
So if I eat 1750 5 days a week and 500 2 days a week, I should lose weight in a sustainable way. That's an average of 1400 per day, I think I can do that!

HugAndRoll · 31/12/2013 19:58

Tonight is my last of eating in my current manner. I've planned tomorrow's dinner and will meal plan for the rest of the week and just buy what I need, possibly online so I'm not tempted.

HugAndRoll · 01/01/2014 00:32

Happy new year everyone. Here's to a smaller, healthier year.

Happy New Year and good luck everybody - we can do this :)

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 01/01/2014 08:54

Happy new year everyone. Good luck to everyone starting today. DH was working last night so we're celebrating tonight and I'm starting tomorrow.

Applesnotcakes · 01/01/2014 09:30

Happy new year everyone. Just think how much better we will feel a year from now. More active, more healthy, more confident. Go us!

WoodBurnerBabe · 01/01/2014 09:39

Happy New Year! I'm going to try fasting again today - if nothing else, and I fail, I've got lots of calories for lunch and tea as I seem quite able to miss breakfast...

justonemorecake · 01/01/2014 09:41

Happy New Year! Just think - in a years time we should all be at least 52lb lighter and feeling much healthier and fitter! Smile

Good luck to everyone starting today.

Ohhelp - I really need to drop the diet coke as well. I drink far too much of it. Maybe that will be one of my changes for January...

PowderMum · 01/01/2014 09:51

Happy New Year, I've weighed myself this morning and started MFP
GOOD LUCK

WoodBurnerBabe · 01/01/2014 09:57

PowderMum, what's your MFP username? I've weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb since last weigh in so I'm pretty happy now :-)

The children are trying to force feed me chocolate and getting confused when I refuse it - they aren't used to that!
