Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

I have lost 'An average human leg' Grin

I now need to lose 'A 2 month old horse'

At the beginning I needed to lose 'An average adult woman' Blush But with a BMI of 51.72, I knew that already Blush

Still, one Guinea Pig at a time Grin

Lunch: (remember I'm low carbing) most of the time I have the same thing as it's easy to do and good to take with me without having to think about it.

Rocket, raddishes, mushrooms, pepper, tomatoes, either cheese or basil tofu (pre-prepared from the supermarket, it's sliceable) and egg free mayo with Food Doctor seeds.

I'm at home a lot at the moment, so I'm having a bit of a break from it (so that I don't get too fed up of it) and I have had an avocado with Food Doctor savory seeds or leftovers or a couple of handfulls of almonds and a chunk of cheese, soup (but it doesn't keep me filled up, so not a great option for me), basil/mozarella/tomato/pesto salad.

MissElodie · 30/08/2013 14:48

My BMI is 41.5 Blush urgh! I'm only 5"2. I love the way the figure balloons out and then goes back in - I was wondering when it was going to stop!! Can't seem to get the slider to work though?

Lunch today for me was a tin of WW soup and a low fat cheese sandwich - not the most exciting thing!

Lorelai · 30/08/2013 14:55

I don't think I will look at that BMI visualizer for a while, too depressing.

Lunch; I often do the super noodles as well, but today and yesterday I have had cold potato omelette; I cooked a big one yesterday and took some out with me, had some more today. Basically cook some new potatoes, fry some onion in fry light, add the potatoes to the pan to brown them off, then add eggs; I had a large pan so six eggs. Cook until you are worried about it burning :) then pop under the grill to cook the top.

MiaWallace · 30/08/2013 15:00

BMI of 37.5 down form 39.5 3 weeks ago. I'm also 5" 2 so every additional pound on is noticeable.

Slider didn't work for me either MissElodie.

For lunch I normally have soup and ryvita or chicken/tuna salad.

I've just done Day 1 of Shaun T Hip Hop abs. Enjoyed it far more than the Shred. There are no sit ups of push up (which I just can't do) and according to my KI Fit I burned more calories with hip hop abs compared to shred in the same amount of time. Like Shred it's a 30 day program.

Plan is to do Hip Hop abs for 30 days and then try Shred again. Maybe I will be strong enough to do the sits ups then.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 30/08/2013 15:08

No, I couldn't get the slider to work either (and I'm on my laptop). I just changed the weights on the side.

I am aiming to get down to 123lb/8 stone 11, which is 11lbs more than I was when I was 'OK - but could shift a few pounds' weight. I just don't think I could get any lower. However, on that body image thing I need to be 7 stone to get a 'slim' body shape. HA ha ha ha ha.

phantomhairpuller · 30/08/2013 15:09

Mia, roughly how many calories do find you burn doing the shred? I've not got anything to work it out!

MoominsYonisAreScary · 30/08/2013 15:21

I couldn't get the slider to work either, I was thinking this morning, ds3 is 3 stone 3 so I need to loose him. Not sure what ds4 weighs but i probably need to loose him too!

MiaWallace · 30/08/2013 15:32

Phantom I burned between 180-200 calories doing Phase 1 following Anita (the easier modified version).

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 17:01

Chipping-haha I Love that!!! We are losing weight 'one guinea pig at a time'

HAS to be the title for the next thread GrinGrin

I'm heart broken. I know I shouldn't have one it but I stepped on the shinny new scales I've just bought and I weigh one pound more than I did when I started last Saturday. I know I've been really good, baked potato today with half a tin of beans, no butter and no cheese but salad with no dressing. Today is the only day I've had carbs that didn't come from fruit or veg. To say I am devastated is an understatement. I know it's not my friends scales, and I know it's the wrong time of the day but really I could cry. Oh yes and no alcohol for a week and I was looking forward to a small glass tonight. Normally I would have one or two medium glasses a night. I just want to give up already Hmm

MoominsYonisAreScary · 30/08/2013 17:20

Don't feel down hearted isthis, I know its hard when you've been really good all week, just think if you carry on you could have a really good loss next week. I find this happens sometimes when I start I diet

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 17:46

Oh isthis Sad

Don't give up, stick at it tonight and weigh yourself first thing in the morning and you will weigh less

OP posts:
Lorelai · 30/08/2013 18:12

Isthis, try not to beat yourself up. Time of day makes a HUGE difference, and different scales can too. Like Henrietta says, weigh yourself in the morning and see what a big difference it makes.

LegoAcupuncture · 30/08/2013 18:21

Back from the land of vomit finally. Been a grim few days.

Have not had much to eat but have pointed what I have had.

That BMI sale thing is amazing. It has my exact backside Grin

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 30/08/2013 18:36

Isthis you KNOW you will weigh less in the morning and you KNOW there is a variation between scales. You havent made a low carb choice for lunch but you have made a healthy choice. It could have been so so much worse. You can rationalise all of this and start a fresh from tomorrow morning.

I couldnt do this on my own. I would have given up by now but together we can. Ups, downs, slip ups, amazing acheivements and emotional support. We are in this together and we can all do it.

trinitybleu · 30/08/2013 19:02

IsThis - chin up, new scales are never going to match old scales, so just use this as your base line. Onwards and downwards! Smile

I weighed in today for first time since 25 July and am v pleased but will save reporting results until Wednesday ... want to fall in line with your schedules and not upset IsThe!

Reastie · 30/08/2013 19:36

Hello, could I join in please? I feel a bit guilty joining another thread when I've been on the motivation/nsv wl thread for over a year but it's gone really quiet lately on there so looked to expand my motivation.

Quick background. October 2011 I weighed edging towards 18 stone having put on over 5 stone from pg and bfing. I was depressed, anxious, felt hopefless about myself and my size and had pnd. Fast forward to now and I'm now around 11.5 stone and I've lost around 6.5 stone (DD is 2.5 and it's the equivalent of 3 DDs Shock - I find her heavy enough to carry and can't imagine how I managed to carry around the equivalent of 3 of her everywhere!). I've got a few more lbs until I'm healthy BMI so I'm towards the end of the loss but this thread seems really nice and supportive so could do with some inspiration and motivation if you don't mind me joining. I've lost weight essentially by slowly reducing portion sizes, having soup for dinner and main meal at lunch and attempting to do exercise. Keep worrying I'll plateau and just stop losing/it will all go on again...

phantomhairpuller · 30/08/2013 19:39

Welcome reastie Grin

Always nice to hear from people who've done so well, it's gives us a sense that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Wink

Well done you

Reastie · 30/08/2013 19:40

Mia very interested to hear about how you find hip hop abs as I'm doing shaun t's insanity at the min (well, 2 - 3 times a week so not really full on) and like the look of that. Is it super hard work? How long are the workouts?

Oh and the losing weight one guinea pig at a time - is that a nod to this as I love that link!

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 30/08/2013 19:41

Welcome reastie. We are all at different stages of weightloss here. Some, like me, are right at the beginning but it is great to see others who have already acheived so so much and still have the motivation to reach target.

Reastie · 30/08/2013 19:42

Thanks phantom . Honestly, I don't think I could have done it without the other mn wl thread I was on motivating me and seeing how well others were doing to spur me on. I never thought I could do it and I never thought an online thread could be so motivational/helpful to me Wink

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 20:10

Welcome reastie Smile

Welcome Reastie.

My DH has started Insanity and he is younger, fitter and lighter than me. There is no way I could do Insanity (yet)

Think if you are at Insanity level then Hip Hop Abs would be a walk in the park and probably too easy. I've only done the first disc and the workout was 25 minutes long. I found it lots of fun and I can feel my abs aching under my mounds of flab.

SummerHoliDidi · 30/08/2013 21:23

Birding - if c25k isn't for you have you thought about swimming? I have the same boob problem as you for sports bras (I did find one online somewhere that went up to my size but I don't think it's supportive enough for running) and my knees aren't great either. I've tried c25k 3 times now and I get to about week 3 before I have to give up because my knees (and boobs) are too sore. I'm now trying swimming, I've got the timetable for my local pool and I'm using swimfit as my training guide, it's sort of like c25k but for swimming. I'm up to 32 lengths in about 40 mins now from a starting point 6 weeks ago of being knackered after just 10 lengths.

I think I've been really good this week so far, except Tuesday when I went to my sister's house and she announced that lunch was from Greggs because she had nothing in the house. Greggs don't do healthy, and we were going out so didn't have time to find a shop to buy something healthier. Such a waste of syns :( I did go kayaking for 2 hours on Wednesday though which was fun, then I went swimming yesterday and for a long walk today, so hopefully that will give a decent loss this week.
