Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Glad you are feeling better henrietta

LayMizzRarb · 29/08/2013 13:38

Oh Lego! Hope you are all soon on the road to recovery. As you say, the silver lining is that you won't be inclined to sit around and nibble.

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 15:02

Every year in January in the town I live in, there's a group that puts on a pantomime, like Aladdin, Cinderella etc but with loads of singing, jokes etc. it's for people from age 12 and I think the oldest member is 92. Some of my fondest memories of childhood are going to watch those with my grandparents and I remember always thinking that I wanted to be in one when I was old enough. I never did join, and I would never dream of it now as I am no where near confident enough- I would be 'the fat one'

So I've decided once I lose this 6 stone- I am signing up!

Great goal Henrietta.

I have just found out that in September 2014 my town will be hosting a half marathon.

If I don't get pregnant in the next year (with DH working away it's going to take a while) I'm going to sign up for it.

It's a massive goal since I can't run for longer than a minute at the moment but it is something to focus on.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 29/08/2013 15:29

Newbie joining please. Lost a load of weight last year but it's almost all crept back on. Well I say crept back on - it's the result of some dedicated overeating since Blush
Mia - I recommend couch to 5k as an running guide if you want some help at the beginning. There's a website and an app to download which you can listen to over music and it's fantastic. I couldn't run down the road when I began, but even with my wobbly bits back I can still do half an hour on the treadmill. Slowly, mind!!

MiaWallace · 29/08/2013 15:57

Welcome thinkofablinkingnamewoman.

I am planning to do c25k as soon as my new trainers arrived.

Hopefully will be here on Saturday and I can go for my first jog/walk/limp

Lorelai · 29/08/2013 17:18

Hi all and welcome to the newbies. I am also planning to start doing couch to 5k, running on te days Idon't swim

Debs75 · 29/08/2013 19:51

Henrietta that is what I was like on the implant. Doc has said I would be better off on Mirena as less hormone. If it doesn't settle by next year then DP will be having the snip or we will never have sex again

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 20:37

Hopefully it's better for you than it had been for me debs! DH says he will get the snip but its too final for me...I may want another baby in 5-6 years! So just no sex til then! Wink

OP posts:
cq · 29/08/2013 23:05

I've had a mirena since 2009 and absolutely delighted with it - no side effects apart from hardly any periods which is fab as previously I'd had hideously heavy ones that used to wipe me out.

Haven't noticed any weight gain that I can attribute to it either - that's all down to the chips and the man-sized portions of the past.

I will have reached the 5 yr limit in Jan and I'm dreading having to do without it - going to talk to GP about having another - but when it was fitted the old bag said by the time this one came out I'd probably be menopausal - cheeky mare.

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 23:20

I would love to have hardly any periods! I'm practically housebound for about 3 days a month due to really heavy bleeding, clotting and awful pain. Sad

Welcome newbies :)

Some great goals set!

I am proud of myself, as yesterday I spent the day shopping with my mum and gran. I'd not had a proper breakfast and was quite hungry. I walked straight past the Lindt, Cadburys (where I'd usually buy a big bag of mis shapes and loads more besides!) and the Thorntons shops. I smelt but walked past the many donut/candy floss/yummy smelling food stands. I sat in Harry Ramsdens whilst the others ate fish and chips and I didn't succumb to any of it :)

When we'd finished shopping, I went into McDonalds and instead of ordering 3 a burger, I ordered a chicken salad wrap with a side salad (not fries!) and a sprite zero (not a milkshake!)

So I had no guilt apart from how much I spent in the shops! Grin

I'm going to the theatre tomorrow night with dh and his parents, and they're taking us out for an Italian meal before the show. Normally I'd have pizza or pasta, but I'm hoping there'll be a nice salad or something on the menu.

My daily inspiration is that I usually have to wear men's wellies Blush when I go to my sisters stables or go for a muddy walk etc, as my calves (calfs? I dunno Blush) are too big and don't go easily into womens ones. I bought some gorgeous ones from Joules yesterday, I can't wait to wear them!

Have a great day all :)

IsaacCox · 30/08/2013 08:28

I should have said, the wellies do fit me now but there's no way I'd be able to tuck my jeans in them! plus my fat hangs over the top a bit Blush

MiaWallace · 30/08/2013 08:39

wow IsaacCox that is a lot of willpower well done.

I have huge calves and can never wear boots above the ankle. Not even ones made for women with big calves Blush So my daily inspiration will be to be able to buy a gorgeous pair of boots.

phantomhairpuller · 30/08/2013 08:53

I have the same problem with wellies/ even when I was a size 12 my calves were too big Confused

Just done day 2 level 2 of the shred, and gorilla workout 6 on top. Think I'm getting a bit carried away with this exercise malarkey! Wink

Have a great day ladies Smile

MoominsYonisAreScary · 30/08/2013 09:10

Well I put on a lb this week, im not really surprised after the weekend, my dsis however reached her target weight this week!

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 10:10

Isaaccox- well done, wish I had your willpower!

Lego worked out that between us all we have lost 96lb- I found a 'what have you lost' chart where it converts your lbs lost to an object that weight. Between is all we have lost over the weight of a newborn calf!

That was terrific, isaac, well done. [round of applause icon here]

Henrietta, can you post a link to the site?

Sirzy · 30/08/2013 11:01

I finally got my wellies to fit last week :) (ok they are wider ones anyway but it's good to be able to wear them!)

phantomhairpuller · 30/08/2013 12:21

BMI body visualiser

Interesting to see the changes as your BMI decreases Smile

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 12:55

Can't link it as it was a picture on a friends Facebook page, but have copied it and put it on my photo gallery on mumsnet, so you should be able to see it if you click on my name Smile

BirdingWidow · 30/08/2013 13:05

Thanks Phantom, I will look a that later on a proper computer (sort of works on my phone but I can't pull the sliders to see a Thinner Me, which I am sure I would enjoy!)

Isaac, I am seriously impressed. I really could not have done that... reading some posts on here makes me realise I need to get more if a grip as i am still being slack and nog properly committed, even though I need to do this. I am thinking about the C25k but not sure it is for me- have boobs that are too big for any sports bra I have ever found and knees not good so I should go something low impact probably. Or maybe I'm just trying to justifying avoiding exercise to myself again.

Anyway, no slip ups so far today. My thought for the day is that I have two very lovely coats (one in particular was vv expensive wool coat from Hobbs) which are too small. Probably about 1.5 stone too small. I have never worn them but want to be in those by Christmas.

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing your good and bad days, it really does help.

HenriettaPye · 30/08/2013 13:46

Help needed!!

What do you all have for lunch? Breakfast is fine, dinner is fine but at lunch time I have no inspiration at all. Ended up with super noodles AGAIN today Hmm

OP posts:
MoominsYonisAreScary · 30/08/2013 13:52

I've had jacket and beans today, bit boring I know but im trying to stay away from bread

I had a look at the bmi link, im slowly moving down to the over weight catagory and my bmi is now 30

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 30/08/2013 14:08

Good one moomins! My bmi is 38 but was edging 40. 40 is very obese so the more distance I get between myself and that magic marker the better!

I have just had a vat full of soup for lunch. I will not be making that kind again but it did fill me up. I too am anti bread at the moment. Baked sweet potato is nice and filling. Or frittata?
