Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Lorelai, can't believe you're disappointed with losing 3.5 pounds. That's a fantastic amount, well done. The swimming is probably helping to tone you, and you'll be getting more muscly which will speed up your metabolism, so it's a slow win on that one rather than an instant boost to your first week's results. Ha, LayMiss, what you need are some scales that aren't very precise (plus eyesight not too great either) then you can round downwards occasionally when you need to!!

Sorry to hear about the row, phantom. A glass of wine or even two won't do much damage. Hopefully things will look better in the cold light of day, and you'll be back on track.

Notafoodbabyanymore · 29/08/2013 02:12

Ok, I've had a crap week, been ill and eaten comfort food, but not much of it as lost my appetite a bit.

So I've lost another 2.4lbs. Hooray!

As this cold clears I'm going to really make a proper effort.

Notafoodbabyanymore · 29/08/2013 02:14

Sorry, just read my post back and realised it doesn't make much sense.

I'm channelling Yoda!

phantomhairpuller · 29/08/2013 07:52

Morning ladies Grin

Today is a new day - sorry about the blip last night but thanks for the support.

I've made a decision, Monday 9th Sept I'm going to start couch to 5k. Anyone want to join me?!

MiaWallace · 29/08/2013 08:00

Phantom I'm planning to start couch to 5k as soon as my new trainers are delivered.

I'm worried that even the beginning levels will be too difficult for me but I'm going to give it a go.

I also need to find somewhere to run where no one will see me!

phantomhairpuller · 29/08/2013 08:07

Yay Mia Wink

I thought I'd give myself until the 9th Sept to mentally prepare!! Ha!

I think I'll have to do it in the evenings when DH is at home with the boys- hopefully not too many people I know will be around at that time of day! Even my cheeks wobble when I run- its not a pretty sight! Wink

phantomhairpuller · 29/08/2013 09:05

Day 1 level 2 of the shred done. Lordy, I'm sweating!! Wink

MiaWallace · 29/08/2013 09:25

DH works away so I'm going to take DD running with me.

She's 8 years old, fit and is a member of the cross country team in school. It will be a hard job to keep up with her.

I'm looking forward to doing something active with her though. I've been fat and lazy all her life and always make excuses not to do anything active. She is very excited about us running together and hopefully her nagging to go will give me the motivation to keep going in the cold, dark months.

Sirzy · 29/08/2013 09:28

That's a great way of doing it Mia!

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 10:19

Good morning all. Woke up this morning feeling so much more positive! I CAN do this and I WILL do this. Thank you all so much for your support yesterday, I am very grateful to have you all! Today I'm going to buy my own set of scales!

Does anyone have any experience with losing weight with a mirena coil?
I had my awful implant taken out yesterday and a coil put in. On the implant I have bled almost daily this year with horrendous 3 week periods which I had to tranzemic(sp) acid to stop them. My weight loss has been crap. only 1 stone in 6 months, partly due to hormones and partly due to being a constant grazer.
I know I will have several months of light bleeding but hopefully after that it will be better, also less hormones so should mean less hormonal eating.Blush

So following on from the stone I lost I have 3 stone to lose to a happy weight of 11 stone. I go back to college soon so will be cycling 2 days a week and swimming without the dc's so should up my exercise. DD1 and I have also rediscovered horse riding. Smile Great exercise but oh my god I can barely sit down I feel like I have been whipped across the back of my thighs. The pain will go the more we go as we get used to it but OWWW!! It is another motivation as we can't ride if we are over 15 stone.

I will WI at group every Sunday and post that on a Wednesday if you want. I may pull the stats down though as I have a lot of gains.

Debs75 · 29/08/2013 10:29

Mia and Phantom I tried couch25k earlier this year and I did find it difficult. I am not a natural runner. It took me three weeks to do week 1 and three weeks to do week 2. I then gave upBlush I do want to do it again as I did enjoy knowing I could run for 90 seconds without dying

phantomhairpuller · 29/08/2013 10:32

Debs, no experience of weight loss with mirena I'm afraid, tho I did have it after ds1 and don't remember gaining any weight.

I've just had implant fitted after birth of ds2 and I'm wondering if that may be what's holding up my weight loss? I've lost 3lb in 3 weeks and have been 'shredding' every day and following a mostly healthy eating plan.

Bloody hormones!! Wink

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 11:09

I've had the mirena for 4-5 months now. I have an appointment to hopefully get it removed next week.its made me a hormonal, grumpy monster, and I do think its making it harder for me to lose weight!
I've had to go on tranexamic acid and mefinamic acid tablets as I'm bleeding so much on it.

LayMizzRarb · 29/08/2013 11:34

Further to my - only 8 ounces off losing 1 stone, I was naughty this morning and jumped on the scales.

I am now FOUR BLOODY OUNCES away from losing one stone Grin
Why oh why did I buy scales that weigh electronically to the nearest 1/4 lb?

HenriettaPye · 29/08/2013 11:41

All going the right way LayMiz!!

OP posts:
LayMizzRarb · 29/08/2013 11:49

Thanks Henrietta! Too true - it's four ounces in the direction. I didn't put it on overnight, so it won't disappear in a jiffy! Still, it was another paperback book I stuck in my bag of books to gauge my weight loss.
It weights just shy of a stone, but - I was carrying that round permanently and it's not light!

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 29/08/2013 12:19

Oh i need to do that with the books to remind myself how much exactly each little bit adds up to

Isthiscorrect · 29/08/2013 12:21

Well done everyone, even those who STS or put on, its stepping stone in the river of life, still plenty of opportunities to continue the journey.
No experience of mirena.
What I wanted to say today was I don't want to be the person the new teachers think of as the fat one, as opposed to the tall one, the one with brown hair, red jumper etc Smile

LegoAcupuncture · 29/08/2013 12:40

Urgh, we are a house of poorly people. DH off work, I'm feeling ill and two out of three DC had vomiting last night. Grim!

At last I know I'll have a loss next week ;)

clarinetV2 · 29/08/2013 12:53

Change those scales, LayMizz!! Get the old-fashioned ones with a dial which require some 'interpretation' Grin

Commiserations, Lego, and I'm sending good wishes for fast recoveries by you and everyone else in your house.

claretandamberforever · 29/08/2013 12:56

Hello all, I can't seem to find a diet which suits me, and hence I've now got between 3.5 stone and 5 stone to lose. I do keep trying though but sadly the weight goes on easier than it comes off. Also I'm unfortunately going to have to be on a budget next month so no shop bought meals but this also means I am going to start walking to work and back to save on petrol. I'll weigh in on Monday and start then.

MiaWallace · 29/08/2013 13:07

Hope you are all better soon Lego.

Welcome to the thread claret.

I've just got back from the doctors after having my implant removed. Took ages and they had to cut quite deep because I've put on so much weight since having it. Ended up having to have stitches put in.

Plan is to get fit, healthy and thinner and then start ttc.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 29/08/2013 13:11

StitchingMoss welcome :) If you want to join us on the Bootcamp (low carbing) threads there's a lot of support & great meal ideas etc, there's a new one starting on the 9th of Sept, but you can join anytime and there is a rolling 'chat' thread between bootcamps.

You too claret if you want to take a look?!

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 29/08/2013 13:33

Slimmers world is good if cooking from scratch. Fry light instead of oil. Cut the fat off of everything and loads of fruit and veg.
