Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

It's too far LayMiz unfortunately, would have been great exercise. Although there's a park about 10 minutes walk from it so I might park there some days and walk from there to collect him, then he can have a quick play in the park too.

happy birthday CQ and Mia.

I have just do a weight check and its looking hopeful for a decent loss tomorrow :)

HenriettaPye · 03/09/2013 07:49

My daily reminder is I want to do this for my health and set a good example to my children.

In my town a 5yo girl has just got the news that she has an inoperable brain Tumor and has a limited time to live SadSad

Really made me think of how lucky I am to have my health. My body has done me good and given me two perfect children so its about time I was good to it!

Between finding out about that poor child and watching coronation street last night, I was a crying snivelling snotty wreck!!

How awful Henrietta :(

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/09/2013 09:31

Hello - newbie here.

I've lost quite a bit of weight since I had DS2, and I had got down to 12st 9 but ten pounds has gone back on over the summer. I am only short so it really shows and I really feel it. I was down to a 16 and feeling pretty good, and now I'm back in some 18s and feeling like a heffalump. :(

Need some motivation, and quickly because I'm going to Goodwood a week on Saturday and my dress is very snug!

Lorelai · 03/09/2013 10:04

Welcome Alibaba. Try not to beat yourself up about the weight that has gone on, just focus on how far you have come already and think positively about how far you are going to get. I find it much easier to stay motivated when I think about healthy eating as a positive choice I am making, rather than doing as depriving me of foods I like because I have been 'bad'.

In fact, just writing that has helped me to get back the little bit of motivation I had been starting to lose, so thank you :)

LayMizzRarb · 03/09/2013 10:55

Henrietta, that it awful for the poor little girl. I count my blessings everyday. I am disabled and have to use a walking cane, but consider myself lucky that I have that limited movement. There is always someone worse off than yourself.
I am determined to keep on the straight and narrow. That tiny little blip I had at the funeral last week is still hanging around, so breaking my diet is NOT a good idea.
Going to have some yummy butternut squash soup I made for brunch.
Happy Birthday to Mia and CQ, and have a healthy eating day everyone!

BirdingWidow · 03/09/2013 12:24

Happy birthday CQ and Mia. No guilt in letting go just a little bit today!

I am having trouble not picking at DS's meals. I cook a lot from scratch and make an effort to give him decent food but frequently it ends up on the floor. I nibbled at his stirfry last night and am having trouble ignoring his cream cheese and ham pinwheels right now (he, as usual, only wants the cherry tomatoes). Must avoid.

Motivation for the day : I echo what Henrietta said about wanting to set a good example for DC, i think about that a lot. But on a much less philosophical level I would like my knees not to have a big blob of lard on the insides where they meet or would do if my lardy thighs would let them. My calves are okayish but it all goes horribly wrong at the knees...

MissElodie · 03/09/2013 12:49

Happy birthday Mia and cq Cake Wine Cake Flowers Hope you both have lovely days Smile

Henrietta how sad for the little girl and her family that's awful Sad

welcome Alibaba Smile

My friend came round for lunch yesterday - she brought her own as she is on a diet - she has a really lovely figure but says she has 7lb to lose and was complaining about her big stomach Hmm.

My thought for today is that I would like to have arms that aren't the same size or bigger than my SIL's leg Shock

LegoAcupuncture · 03/09/2013 17:27

Such an emotional day today. Could have filled my face, was quite temped to buy three Krispy Kreme and shove them in in quick succession but decide on some mango instead. Wasnt quite the same but did the trick.

Roasting today, it's so hot and I've just cooked a huge dinner. Feel like I'm melting.

So my motivation, I would like to not get so hot so quickly, think the extra weight makes it so.

LayMizzRarb · 03/09/2013 17:35

Birdingwidow, have you thought about chewing sugar free gum when you are giving D'S his supper? I make chocolates from scratch (luckily I don't have a chocolate addiction!) but chewing gum stops me from mindlessly putting any of it in my mouth Grin

Well done Lego on avoiding the Krispy Kremes. They would have taken you five minutes to eat, but would have put your weight loss back a week...

HenriettaPye · 03/09/2013 17:44

Went to the doc today to get my mirena coil removed and she couldn't find it ShockConfused

So either I've been having unprotected sex and may be pregnant ShockShock or it's got lost somewhere inside me ConfusedConfused

OP posts:
Lorelai · 03/09/2013 17:56

Well done Lego!

Henrietta, are they going to do a scan to check? This is my worry with my Mirena, it getting 'lost'.

I did my third run of C25K week 1, it is still very hard, so I think I will do it once more before moving on to week 2. Also took the girls out for a walk to feed the ducks and challenged them to a race - I managed to beat the 2 year old but the 5 year old is fast!! Grin

Reastie · 03/09/2013 18:00

Henrietta Shock Shock . Do you ever check the strings?

I got a couple more comments on weight loss at work today (we've been away since beginning of July which was when I started insanity so I guess there must be a difference in me). I think there's a rumour circulating about me having had a gastric band ( Shock Shock Grin ), maybe people just can't believe that working out and reducing food intake can make you lose a shed load of weight! I think I must be a good source of rumour as in january everyone thought I was pg (I had time off for anxiety issues and apparently no one believed I had MH problems and thought I was pg - it was actually quite embarrassing to have to tell everyone 'I'm not pg' when they winked at me and ask how I was!)

HenriettaPye · 03/09/2013 18:07

I'm not sure what they are going to do, doctor just said she is referring me urgently to gynaecology. I'm presuming they will scan me to see if they can find it in there.

No I've tried but could never feel them! They were last checked 6 weeks after it was inserted, when I had my check up and the doctor could see them. But they have gone walkabouts since thenBlush

Really worried! Sad

I've had a real mindset day today. Yesterday was bookclub and I eats more than a normal day but much less than I would normally. So today I knew I had to be extra good and I was and I was happy to pay the price for yesterday. In fact I felt it was quite the normal thing to do. I think I'm not explaining myself clearly but I feel good like I can do this. Hopefully tomorrow the weigh in will reward me.

LegoAcupuncture · 03/09/2013 19:30

Eek Henrietta! How worry for you. Hope the appointment comes quickly.

Isthis I know exactly what you're saying.

On Sunday I went to my mams for Sunday dinner, and as I'd not had much to eat of a few days because of stomach bug I had a slice of a A&E she had made. Didnt point it up as I had full weeklies left. Just toted it up before, and bloody hell, 15 points for one slice! Was absolutely delicious though, chocolate, hazelnut and Nutella cake, was totally worth it.

MiaWallace · 03/09/2013 20:02

Happy birthday CQ.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I have tried to be good but certainly not perfect.

About to watch Great British Bake Off which always makes me hungry.

Henrietta hope everything works out quickly for you

LegoAcupuncture · 03/09/2013 20:10

I'm also watching the great British bake off, while popping grapes into my mouth.

Sirzy · 03/09/2013 20:13

Eeek henrietta, I hope they find it quickly x

MiaWallace · 03/09/2013 20:56

I had a big mug of hot chocolate while watching it. Would have preferred a trifle.

Sirzy · 03/09/2013 21:06

I need to get myself some hot chcolate when i am next in asda.

LayMizzRarb · 03/09/2013 21:25

I made a weight watchers trifle. Meringue nest, WW jelly, strawberries and raspberries, topped with a WW greek yoghurt. 2 points. I wouldn't have won any prizes for presentation though; I made it in a pudding basin!
