HenriettaPye · 26/08/2013 19:53

Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Happy birthday Mia. Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

I've had a lovely day but too many bad things have passed my lips.

Dreading tomorrows weigh-in.

Henrietta - I've never been able to find my strings either - hoping mine's still ok - smear appt soon so hopefully someone else will spot them Confused

MissElodie · 03/09/2013 23:11

oh no henrietta really hope you get it sorted out soon, hope you don't have to wait too long for your appt.

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow everyone Smile.

Isthiscorrect · 04/09/2013 03:43

Morning! Its early here but checking to report I have lost 2 lbs. Its not a lot but I wasnt sorted with scales to start with and I am happy given it was book club week. I know I'm eating differently and stopping to think so all in all yep I'm satisfied with my loss.
Fingers crossed to everyone else.

BirdingWidow · 04/09/2013 06:17

Henrietta, hope they find it okay (surely they must, unless it could have dropped out?).

I have weighed in and have lost 3.5 lb. that takes me to..... 199.5lb (14st 3.5). So I have broken the magic 200lb barrier, yay! Next target is to get into 13s. Thanks for your help this week Clarinet Wink

isthat, 2lb is decent so well done. That's what I am aiming for every week and last week I stayed the same so I think I am just catching up this week. I do feel as though my tummy is shrinking a bit, which is spurring me on.

I started out saying I had 5 st to lose, which I do to get comfortably into the normal weight range. However, I know I will feel pretty happy even if I just lose 3, which is the equivalent of 2 of my 11mo baby. And he feels really heavy to me if I have to carry him for more than 2 mins - with an excess of 3 of him on board, no wonder my knees hurt!

My daily motivation is that I would like my body to be in proportion with my head. I am quite small boned actually (has taken me over 35 years to realise this!) and so in photos I am conscious that I look odd with a small face perched on top of a large body. Clearly there is a small person inside me trying to get out!

Good luck today everyone.

BirdingWidow · 04/09/2013 06:19

Isthat, just done a double take when I actually noticed what time you posted. Eek.

phantomhairpuller · 04/09/2013 07:17

Morning ladies.

I've come out of hiding!! By some complete miracle I've managed to lose 2lbs Smile

My knee injury has really thrown my focus, I haven't been able to do any 'high impact' exercise and haven't had time to go swimming and as a result my diet went tits up over the weekend. I regained focus diet-wise on Monday but even then I've not been 100%.

I really don't understand how this weight loss malarkey works!

I've been keeping up with the thread but not posting as I felt ready to throw the towel in tbh.

But I'm feeling refreshed and focused again now.

Sorry ladies Hmm

Good luck to all weighing today Grin

Sirzy · 04/09/2013 07:34

2lb off today.

Start weight 15 stone 13
Current weight 13 stone 8

HenriettaPye · 04/09/2013 07:37

Stupid measly 1lb off this week.

GrrrrrrrrrrrrrrAngryAngryAngryAngry

I've been so good. And I've only lost one flipping guinea pig. Was speaking to the doctor about my weight yesterday and how I'm finding it so hard to lose and she said it's more than likely the mirena so that's what I'm blaming.

The sooner they find this thing and get it out the betterAngry

Phantom - when you feel ready to throw the towel is just the time you need to post so we can give you a kick up the arse!

Well done on the losses everyone!

IsaacCox · 04/09/2013 07:52

Morning all :) Well done losers! Wink

Henrietta a lb is good, isn't that 4 packs of butter? I'm still not sure if that's right Blush

Amazing Birding! You're in wonderland (as they say on The Biggest Loser for being in the 100's) well done!

I've lost 2lb this week plus 3.5 inches.

Starting weight 17st 11
Current weight 16st 1

So I'm hoping to be in the 15's by next week :)

Have a great day all

antimatter · 04/09/2013 07:55

I've lost 2 pounds this week!

Sirzy · 04/09/2013 07:57

Well done Issac and Antimatter.

seems like a good week alround so far :)

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 04/09/2013 08:00

Happy birthday for yesterday Mia and cq.

I havent faced the scales yet. Need to sort dd out first then I will take the plunge. I dont hold much hope as have had a few sneaky mid week weighs. I have been good on the diet but it isnt showing.

I remember from the old thread a few people have PCOS. I am afraid I cant remember who. If you do, do you think it is affecting weight loss?

HenriettaPye · 04/09/2013 08:03

I would normally be happy with 1lb, at least it's going in the right direction but after I put on 4lb last week I expected better this week.

Well done on on all the losses this week.

Phantom - in terms of the exercise, I saw something really interesting on the SW website yesterday, which basically said that while exercise is important for health, and for keeping the weight off long term, it doesn't really make much difference to weight loss. If you exercise and don't eat right, you won't lose weight, if you eat right and don't exercise you will still lose the 1-2lbs per week. It said that doing 30 mins of exercise 5 times a week will make you lose an extra 12-24 lbs per year, so about 1/4-1/2lb each week. Really made me think about how much pressure I am putting myself under to exercise.

clarinetV2 · 04/09/2013 08:14

Another pound off for me this week. Bye-bye guinea pig, don't come back! Congratulations all losers, and birding, special congratulations on making it into the hundreds. Henrietta, I do hope your appointment comes through soon and they can get you sorted - must be very worrying indeed.

antimatter · 04/09/2013 08:23

Lorelai - I agree is the food we eat first as in total calories taken there's only so much you can burn

I think I am beginning to see the connection between exercise and weight loss
it's motivation
to do both long term you need to be motivated, you need to be able to find will to kick yourself out of the house (or your chair) an also motivated not to reach for another buttered toast :) or pick yourself up to carry on eating less surrounded by food

I know how to eat less or exercise yet I fail on both accounts most of the days :)

Sirzy · 04/09/2013 08:25

If I don't exercise I don't lose weight, but then it could be like anti said and more about motivation than the exercise itself. The exercise certainly helps me feel better which is half the battle I think.

I have my 10k walk on Sunday and I am starting to worry I won't be fit enough to manage it!

antimatter · 04/09/2013 08:31

I read somewhere you need those 3 to go hand in hand - eat right food, exercise and motivation.
I am lacking motivation most of the time. As they say - is all in our heads. Working on keeping myself motivated is very hard. I almost feel my motivation is used up by the time I do my work day and housework, but maybe I am too soft on myself?

Safyre · 04/09/2013 08:35

Stayed the same this week. Sad I weight daily and was doing so well up until yesterday and then last night DH was out so I ordered a pizza. Blush This morning I was 3.5lb heavier than I was yesterday - a combination of pizza and period, I know, but still annoying!

phantomhairpuller · 04/09/2013 08:43

I need to exercise to keep my motivation, if I've exercised in the morning I feel good about myself all day and it keeps me on track food-wise.

Well done losers Grin

MissElodie · 04/09/2013 09:04

Well done on all the losses Smile

I have lost 1lb this week - I feel a bit grrr like you Henrietta. I have been really good this week and was hoping for more Angry

I lost 5lb the first week which I know was mostly water and then 1lb for the next 3 weeks - hope the pattern doesn't carry on at 1lb. I know its going to be a long slow process but I want to be losing at least 1.5lb a week.

I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid the day after I started this diet and so I think that might be contributing. When I've dieted previously I have lost more in the first few weeks. Maybe its my age as well!

Argggghhh why does it go on so quickly but take so long to lose!!

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 04/09/2013 09:15

Just under a 1lb loss. I too have been good this week. God it is sooooooo slow going isnt it. I am hovering just above the 100kg mark and i cant seem to break that barrier

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 04/09/2013 09:18

On a more cheery note I may have lost 1 guinea pig today. But I am hoping to gain a couple soon. We are getting new pets

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 04/09/2013 09:20

I also have to say we went to mc d as a treat a few daysago. I ate a grilled chicken salad wrap and diet coke. And I cant lose more than 1 lb this week aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhh shoulda had the double cheeseburger and fries I wanted.
