Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

I've really struggled today. Was v virtuous at lunch, had salad and coffee while the DCs stuffed down chocolate cake. But then felt really crap so had two slices of bread and butter and 3 custard creams when I got home ConfusedI think my blood sugar had got too low.

But rather than beat myself up, I am thinking that I must be kind to myself today, I'm knackered and overwhelmed by back-to-school chaos, visitors, extra dogs and builders crashing around. Tomorrow I will be one child down and it will be my birthday so the visitors can walk the dogs, I'm taking myself out for a lovely run down by the river.

DS has requested curry tonight for his Last Supper before school, so I'm hoping tandoori chicken and lentil or chickpea dahl will be the healthiest choice Blush. At least it won't be washed down with red wine like it always has been in the past.

My goal for today is to have an early night - willpower is definitely weakened by lack of sleep.

Reastie · 02/09/2013 18:26

Isaac 80 minutes in the gym? Shock

cq enjoy your birthday and run tomorrow. bread and butter and custard creams aren't the end of the world in the grand scheme so don't beat yourself up.

Forgot to say whoever was asking about periods and weighing. I always think I'd weigh more before/at the beginning of my period but freakishly I tend to go down a bit just before and then towards the end of my period I put on a pound or so for a few days then it goes.

Lorelai great on the cafe but I'm with you on the emotional eating. Alot of my eating/weight problems are psychological related but quite complex and different to comfort eating and it's difficult to break/hit on the head.

clarinetV2 · 02/09/2013 19:02

Am proud of you, Birding!

Well done, Lorelai, that's fantastic news about the C25K and swimming. I empathise about resisting food easily in a cafe situation - my issue has always been eating alone (not exactly comfort eating but definitely emotional eating/habit). Until recently I've been embarrassed about eating 'treat' food in front of other people and I've felt judged for eating it, so I haven't exactly wanted to (though sometimes wished I could), if that makes sense. Cakes have long been my secret pleasure, something I've been working very hard to change. But it does make it much easier to resist eating when out, for which I suppose I should feel grateful.

HenriettaPye · 02/09/2013 19:07

Another emotional eater here too! My oldest dc starts Pre school next week and I know I will use food as an emotional crutch Confused

Aaargh I keep getting gifts of wine and chocolate for my birthday. Must resist

IsaacCox · 02/09/2013 19:30

HaPpY BiRtHdAy Mia Grin Wine Cake Thanks If you can't have a treat on your Birthday, when can you Wink

LegoAcupuncture · 02/09/2013 19:44

Ah, my littlest dude starts reception tomorrow. Really going to miss him. :(

Reastie, well done n your huge loss, you've done amazing!

Kids all bathed and more or less in bed. Uniforms ready, packed lunches ready to be packed, let the new school year commence.

MiaWallace · 02/09/2013 19:44

Thanks Issac but it's not even my birthday till tomorrow. I may allow myself some treats tomorrow evening but the wine is calling to me now!

Isthiscorrect · 02/09/2013 19:54

Oh dear. It was bookclub tonight at my house. So I thought ok prawns and salad would be good. Then came pasta, wine, --4glasses- bread and cheese. I am a bad bad person:-( but I know this and my gain is my reward for eating like a snuffling truffling pig.
On the other hand I still ate and drank less than I would do normally, so that will mean I don't gain so much and that has to be a good thing. Right?

Happy birthday Mia.

Sirzy · 02/09/2013 19:57

Mia - do you know anyone who is doing a raffle or anything soon? Perhaps keep a little bit back and donate the rest as prizes (but then don't buy any tickets!)

IsaacCox · 02/09/2013 20:00

Oops sorry Mia Blush Happy Birthday for tomorrow!

TiredNursey · 02/09/2013 20:46

Am in the middel of a mad blitz. Friend coming to stay with 2 kids tomorrow and the place is a bombsite.
Have eaten really well this week so far, which is just as well as there will be wine and cake tomorrow.. :)
I too am an emotional eater, but I've been taking St Johns Wort for about a month now, and even if its only a placebo, it seems to be evening me out.
I've only had one blow out, and even then it was home made wheaten bread. And not too much of it. In the past I would have taken myself off to Tescos for a white thick loaf and made about 10 slices of toast. And maybe some custard tarts too.
So could have been worse..

TiredNursey · 02/09/2013 20:49

Oh, and happy birthday! CQ and Mia. Cake Cake
Virtual cake has no calories!

MiaWallace · 02/09/2013 20:52

TiredNursey bread is my nemesis. I enjoy chocolate but can go without but if I have a slice of bread then I find it hard to stop. I could easily eat half a loaf given the opportunity. It really is my gorging food.

TiredNursey · 02/09/2013 21:00

Nemesis is a good description.
When I'm at home, my parents always have wheaten bread, and the bakery white loaf.
I dont know what they put in it, but its lovely. Some sort of drugs I am sure, because I cannot stop eating it. And I wouldn't stop with half. I'd have the whole loaf, with thick butter and marmalade.
Gluttony.

LegoAcupuncture · 02/09/2013 21:08

Happy birthday! Virtual Cake all round Grin

DH is on night shift, I am so bored and want to fill my face.

LayMizzRarb · 02/09/2013 21:19

Happy Birthday Mia!

And for all those with little ones starting school - see this as a chance to have some 'me' time; try a half hour workout to a DVD at home?

cq · 02/09/2013 21:31

God yes, another one here with a serious bread and butter addiction. And Frank Coopers Vintage Marmalade on top. Simply can't have white bread in the house. Even Cranks wholemeal brick bread is too hard to resist some days - I have to slice it up and freeze individual slices so that if I succumb at least I don't gorge a whole loaf at once.

Maybe I'll ask for a loaf of bread instead of birthday cake tomorrow Grin

Thanks for all the virtual Cake, it probably is the best sort at the moment, sadly. Might as well have a few virtual Wine WineWineWine while I'm at it too!

Lorelai · 02/09/2013 21:44

Mmmm, freshly baked bread with lashings of full fat clover spread....

HenriettaPye · 02/09/2013 21:46

Aw I wish LayMiz- still have a little 1 yo diva to entertain! Smile

LayMizzRarb · 02/09/2013 22:11

Not quite so easy Henrietta! Do you get to walk the LO to school, or is it too far?

clarinetV2 · 02/09/2013 22:37

Yup, bread's one of my downfalls too. There's nothing like a newly-baked white loaf (I can easily eat the whole thing). I'm also rather addicted to Sainsbury's bagels. In the olden days I used to buy 3 or 4, just out of the oven, from the Sainsbury's just-out-of-my-way-but-not-far on the way to work, and I'd usually scoffed the lot long before lunch. Are people familiar with challah bread? It's gorgeous, and a loaf slips down like no-one's business, no butter needed.

Happy birthday, cq and mia - cq, welcome to the late 40s, it's not such a bad place to be!

Good luck anyone with little ones starting school this week.
