HenriettaPye · 26/08/2013 19:53

Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

MissElodie nsv is non scales victory. My best recent one was being able to put on and do up my Levi's I had as a teenager they are far too tight to be able to actually wear out though . I haven't managed that in years and years, so my current goal is to make them fit properly.

Everyone is doing v well today :)

Mia great motivational idea (although I bet they wouldn't notice/bother)

Re: chocolate, I've always found having a low calorie hot choc when I have a desperate craving has satisfied me (OK, it's not quite the same but after a week or so you get used to it) and I buy dark choc with the highest cocoa % I can (90% is the best from my extensive all in the name of science research Grin ) as it's so rich and strong you actually can't eat a huge amount of it (believe me, I've tried!). I have a cube or three every evening.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 31/08/2013 21:23

Henrietta - Thought you might like that (One Guinea Pig At A Time) Definitely a good thread title.

Reastie - Hi, you have done really well - you will get rid of the others :)

SummerHoliDili - what weight and height did you put in for your goal weight? I'd like to put those in to see what you think looks good. I put mine in (as I said up thread) and I had to go to 7 stone to get the look I'd like?!

Chocolate - I'm low carbing so stopped eating milk chocolate in January. Since then I have had the Lindt 85% - it's quite low in carbs and I have only had the one bar in all this time. I just like to know it's there :)

Mia - whatever you look like, they will have seen someone bigger/older/saggier whatever, YOU are worth it NOW.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 31/08/2013 21:25

I tried the 99% percent chocolate - don't - It Is Vile.

MiaWallace · 31/08/2013 21:26

Reastie I tried Insanity for the first time today. I managed 5 minutes of Pure Cardio - didn't even get through the warm up. I'm very impressed that you put yourself through that on a regular basis.

I can categorically say that Hip Hop abs is a piece of piss in comparison.

MiaWallace · 31/08/2013 21:30

Sorry Chippy x posts with you.

I'm sure most professional masseuse have massaged people as big as me I just know I wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy it at my size. Will definitely be one of my rewards when I lose a few stone. Think I may ask DH to get me a voucher for Christmas

LegoAcupuncture · 31/08/2013 21:40

Found another website where you can do now and then weight visualisation pictures here.

Can't remember who mentioned it earlier, but an you please link to the site where it shows you the guinea pigs per lb etc

BirdingWidow · 31/08/2013 21:48

Reastie, I meant to say re bras, do you have a bravissimo near you? I have always found they do a good fitting and nowhere near as sneery as R&P.

MiaWallace · 31/08/2013 21:56

1lb = a guinea pig

LegoAcupuncture · 31/08/2013 22:27

Thanks Mia. I've lost a human head Shock

MiaWallace · 31/08/2013 22:32

Me too Lego.

My ultimate goal weight would mean I have to lose a baby horse!

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 31/08/2013 22:34

Lego not sure if you saw my post the other day, but I have lost 'A Human Leg' Grin

I still need to lose 'A 2 month old horse' Shock

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 31/08/2013 22:34

Mia SNAP!

HenriettaPye · 31/08/2013 23:18

I need to lose a newborn calf. Confused

HenriettaPye · 31/08/2013 23:19

Has anyone else noticed that an elephants penis weighs 60lb? Surely that can't be right Shock

clarinetV2 · 31/08/2013 23:22

Splutter!! I hadn't noticed, Henrietta, but I've just looked it up and it seems to be true:

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Elephant%20penis

clarinetV2 · 31/08/2013 23:24

Oooops, should have looked at that link more carefully before posting. Sorry if anyone's offended (I am, a bit Blush).

HenriettaPye · 31/08/2013 23:33

Ah sure we are all adults GrinGrin

OP posts:
ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 31/08/2013 23:41

Henrietta - take heart - mine is a '2 month old horse'

That's one Big Boy isn't it Grin

Things you never thought you'd Google 'How heavy is an elephants penis?' Grin

African bull elephants hold the title of the largest relative penis size in the animal kingdom. The longest elephant penis can grow up to six and a half feet long.

According to National Geographic, average length of an African elephant penis is about 2 meters and most of it is not visible. It weighs about 25 kg or 55 lbs.

While elephant erections can reach from two or three feet to five or six feet and 14 to 16 inch in diameter. One enterprising biologist has even gone as far as to calculate the average weight of an elephant penis at a est. 59.5 pounds (with testicles at 4.4 pounds each).

That's enough to make your eyes water.

Clarinet - anyone offended by that link is probably on Netmums, not Mumsnet :)

Oh well, only another 20lbs before I've lost the weight of the world's biggest penis.

HenriettaPye · 31/08/2013 23:51

That's definitely a goal to aim for!Smile

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 01/09/2013 00:08

So an elephants penis weighs 1.5x that of the average human leg Grin God life is weird.

Definitely time for bed!

Sirzy · 01/09/2013 05:27

Just checking in!

I am away for the weekend and although managing to avoid a lot of temptation still eaten rather more 'baddies' than I should have. I did avoid the millionaire shortbread that was shouting me then went for sausage and chips instead had done lots of walking though!

We are staying in a caravan and I am in a typical caravan very narrow single bed - but have realised I now have space to turn over without having to worry about falling out!

Reastie · 01/09/2013 06:52

chipping gosh no, not the 99% chocolate, I should have warned about that. It's utterly disgusting . 90% max IMO.

Mia the warm up is part of the workout, it's really hard! Is hip hop abs expensive? I do need to work on my stomach area the most.

Lego massive Grin to losing a human head (don't know why but I find that really funny)

Birding no bravissimo near me sadly

sirzy love that you can now roll over without risking life and limb Wink

I've nearly lost a newborn calf Shock

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 01/09/2013 08:38

It's OK Reastie, I don't think anyone really needs warning against it. I knew it was going to be seriously bitter - I just wanted to try it and it was far worse than I'd imagined :) So one has to come to the conclusion that it's not actually chocolate we all love, but fat & sugar with a tiny bit of chocolate in it Grin The 85/90% is OK but it's not dairy milk It is so hard to imagine having lost/losing a whole, entire calf/2 month old horse (I'd call it a foal personally!) - even a human leg. Bizarre.

Sirzy - the 'turning over without worrying about falling out' is brilliant :) It's weird the unexpected things the show you it is working!

IsaacCox · 01/09/2013 09:09

Shock at how much an elephants penis weighs Grin

I've lost a car tire plus an average human brain! I love that link.

I've tried the 99% chocolate before, blurgh! I love dairy milk/galaxy the best. I have some hot chocolate sachets in (which are 40 cals each I think) so I'll have one of those when I'm craving chocolate. Thanks for the idea :)

We went out for dinner last night before going to the theatre. I was hoping they'd have a nice salad on the menu but it was either different chicken dishes, veal, pasta or pizza. So I had no starter or dessert and went for a chicken Kiev thing (I had 1/2 and gave dh the rest), swapped chips for sautéed potatoes and had salad with a small wine. I didn't miss pasta/pizza. Plus had no ice cream in the interval. Also before this diet, I'd have taken sugary pop and snacks for the show. I just took a bottle of water :)

We got back home at about midnight and as we drove past a mcdonalds, I told dh if I wasn't dieting, I'd have gone to get a snack from there! Glad I didn't.

Have a great day all :)

MiaWallace · 01/09/2013 09:20

Reastie Hip Hop Abs is £26.90 on Amazon. It is really good fun but takes a lot of coordination (which I don't have). I love Shaun T and would like to get his Rockin' body DVDs too.

I'm another one who weighs daily. Looks like I'm in for a good loss this week as long as I don't mess up Grin
