Last day at work for me Grin Grin Grin

Well done Bssh on only gaining 1lb holiday weight, am hoping to emulate this!

Hi Chiefs,

could I perhaps distract you from fasts, badly behaved husbands and celebrity chef fantasies with a question?

i seem to have pulled a muscle, which may or may not be connected to shredding whilst hungover and not concentrating on having 'good form' and possibly using a weight that's too heavy. Anyway anterior raises and side lunges have done for me and a muscle in my side (technical term) is killing me every time I move. Getting dressed was a slow process as it's excruciating to bend.

So what do I do - try and stretch it? carry on with probably futile attempts to massage it which seems to help a bit?, or does it just take time.

Any advice from you experienced ladies (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) would be much appreciated.

Lizzylou · 17/10/2013 13:06

ooh Apple, ouch. Have you tried a nice hot bath and then some muscle rub? Get Randall to get you some Deep Heat when she is getting her Anusol Grin
That exercise is my worst of all Jillian moves, for some reason I just hate it.

Applesnotcakes · 17/10/2013 13:19

very nice ideas Lizzy, but I'm at work. Sad
And have to go to a networking thingy tonight prior to coming home to drink recovery inducing alcohol with friend also forced to network to look like she cares advance her career
Feels like its going to be a long day - bloody Jillian!

BsshBossh · 17/10/2013 13:22

Oh no Apples. The last time I pulled a muscle I had to stop exercising for a fortnight to heal. Quite enjoyed the break to be honest. Was fine after that.

Lizzylou · 17/10/2013 13:24

Aah, tricky. Could you do some surreptitious side bends in the loos?
Pop out and get some ibuprofen gel?
Just get hammered at the networking thang could be your best bet!

Stop talking about BABIES! They might be catching. I had so little sleep for the first 3 years of DD's life that I come out in hives if I even look at a baby now. And I had a dream a few nights ago that somebody left a baby outside our front door and the police made me take care of it because it cried when anyone else held it. Yes I know, but it was so realistic I actually had to check outside the front door when I got up. Brrrrrr

DoubleMum · 17/10/2013 13:31

Apples sorry about your muscle. I find gin works best. And lying down. Or even just slouching. Proximity to TV while Paul Hollywood or Daniel Craig is on screen is also very good for muscles (ooh big hands definitely a link there!). And popcorn. Works wonder for muscles.

DoubleMum · 17/10/2013 13:41

PS. My babies were only 5lb something. I could get 2 for the price of 1. Now they're eating me out of house and home and rushing downstairs at inopportune moments to declare they forgot to do their RE homework.

Lizzylou · 17/10/2013 13:56

Envy at 5lb babies. My undercarriage had more stitches than the Bayeaux tapestry after my ginormobaby was hoiked out via ventouse.

Applesnotcakes · 17/10/2013 14:06

tried side bends in loo and felt really sick and faint and possibly not in full control of all bodily functions. Was tricky to deal with all options and i worried that if i fainted with the door locked no-one would know.

Has marginally eased now enough for me to return to my desk and important mumsnetting and have asked lovely young colleague to get something from chemist to help - he's super sporty and seems to know what's required so fingers crossed that will take me through until I can adopt Lizzy's recommended solution of getting smashed at the networking do.

DoubleMum's plan of TV, gin and slouching could perhaps be tomorrow's plan - its pretty much a standard evening anyway. Could peanut butter hot fudge sauce be part of the cure? - not that we're mentioning it, I know

Applesnotcakes · 17/10/2013 14:07

my baby wasnt even that big but keilands forceps and stitches galore were the order of the day - floor looked like an abattoir Shock

DoubleMum · 17/10/2013 14:13

See, finding a baby on a doorstep is beginning to look a little more attractive than other prospects now.
Apples no more bending. Only slouching for you now my girl. And gin.

DoubleMum · 17/10/2013 14:15

(And you're not supposed to mention the peanut butter hot fudge sauce. As far as I know it isn't on any Chief Eating Plan, even Randall wouldn't touch it unless it had cheese in it.)

Lizzylou · 17/10/2013 19:16

Peanut butter fudge sauce???? That sounds lush.
Hope you are less achey Apple or at least have drank enough to cope.
At Ds1's swim club. It is so hot am sure some fat might be melting off Hmm

Awwww! No baby then Haloween Sad Lizzy my DH is terrible for that, although actually hasn't done it in a while. The "I'm just leaving" used to REALLY wind me up until I got all zen about it and cultivated extreme indifference to where he was (hard as you immediately start thinking they've been stabbed in the head and are dying in a ditch). After that he got much better he had to or I would have murdered him to death "I love you, do you want some chips" is fantastic. Do you think the 1lb could have been worked off through sheer anger??

apples hope you feel better soon. I think a big, badly-pulled muscle can be as bad as labour, only when you're in labour nobody expects you to twat around networking or sit at your computer as normal.

Tea OMG thanks for the link. Going to make that for the MIL who is partial to stollen and is similarly unrestrained around cake so that effectively cuts my calories in half

Bssh can't believe you'd be the only one eating the cake! What's wrong with your family? Halloween Shock

BsshBossh · 17/10/2013 22:50

buzzy I know! I must be the only parent with a 5 yo who hates cake (even birthday cake at parties). Though she does like gooey chocolate cake thank goodness for small mercies.

BsshBossh · 18/10/2013 07:11

Morning, weigh-in Friday for me and 1.6 lbs down. That's just over 75 lbs down now and 9 lbs to go. A non-fasting Friday today. Woohoo!

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/10/2013 07:20

Another 2lbs down here, only 8lbs to go to my first mini goal Smile I'm going to try not to Randall to hard this weekend, I'm keen to keep seeing a drop in the numbers, my clothes are fitting me brilliantly now, I wonder how long before I can start to wear the elusive size 10?! Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/10/2013 07:21

Well done Bssh! You're doing amazingly Smile

DoubleMum · 18/10/2013 07:47

Well done Bssh and Tits, great work.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 18/10/2013 08:37

Well done guys. Brilliant work dudes.

Applesnotcakes · 18/10/2013 09:25

morning all,

more inspiring losses from Bssh and Tits, well done chaps

things not going quite so well here. I failed the basic objective of networking by only talking to my friends - hadnt seen them in so long and they're way funner than anyone else there - so we left early and came home to eat our body weight in Indian food and drink the alcohol stocks dry.

My back is still really bad and to go with the pain and inability to do anything without involuntary pathetic shrieks i now have a hangover. So have just had to have toast. It was bloody lovely.

8 million calories n the last 12 hours. Too scared to weigh this morning - will try for a reasonable rest of day and give it a go tomorrow. Trying to get to osteopath to sort back out - working from home which is good as avoids tube etc but bad as its where food lives.

BsshBossh · 18/10/2013 11:52

Well done Tits!

Apples if I were you I'd not bother weighing at all this week. Just focus on eating "with awareness" (but don't deprive yourself either) and concentrate on sorting your back out (and your hangover Grin). You can get back on the dieting wagon another week.

Applesnotcakes · 18/10/2013 12:33

probably good advice - hangover's gone but back is agony. Feel a bit dispirited about lack of exercise options for the next few days and probably best not to reinforce that with a bad weigh in. 'with awareness' is a good goal - i think im getting better at that but there are time when the food just seems to go in without a lot of thought - too busy yakking and drinking at the same time!

Lizzylou · 18/10/2013 12:44

Fab losses Bssh and Tits Smile
Oh Apple, poor you. Glad hangover has eased. Bssh is right, just try and be mindful of your eating and don't exercise until the pain has gone!
Got a Thai meal out yonight for my leaving do Grin Will doubtless be boozy, so am aiming on avenging Dh's midweek annoying drunken antics.
