Hey new thread since our old stopping smoking and not gaining-too--much weight has been lost from chat! BOO!!!

I am not a good role model however as I HAVE piled on a stone, well 12 lbs now, since giving up the cigs.
This must be rectified!
Hence joining in the club section!

Donnadoon hope you find this thread.

Everyone else pile in, join and be happy or miserable bastard ex smokers

Hiya
I'm sad and worried about my little tiddler
She was weighed today and has lost 12% of her birth weight (10% is the max they allow for their charts)
Anyway the midwife suggested she goes back to hospital and I've said that I will top her up with formula if needed (currently EBF)
So she has agreed to come back Monday to see if she has gained by then
It's so worrying, obviously by Monday I will go back with her if there has been no gain, and keep feeding her every hour an half over the weekend
But I'm annoyed that they have to follow these guidelines which are based on full term babies and that not all babies are the same
Mine were all born early and had this problem with weight at first
They are cursed with their dad's fast metabolism too
Gotta dash
Chat later x

FrantasticO · 31/01/2014 22:05

Aw donna poor you
Is she peeing and pooing and content between feeds?
Can you express and top up with that if need be?
Babies can lose up to 15/ and still be ok.
Try not to worry too much, your milk will not have long come in, she's a prem and it's early days.
Recent research is looking at starting the centimes a 2 weeks
Make sure u keep an eye on the charting and it's all corrected by date.
Lecture over, just hate to think you are worried
Take heart if the mw was worried they would have you visited at the weekend.
Hers to lots of very wet and phooey nappies!!
and remember its only formula if you top up with it, not gin!!!

Huge hugs mrs

Xx

Centiles!

OP posts:
Donnadoon · 01/02/2014 08:41

If they started the centiles at two weeks that would be much better
Loads of wet and dirty nappies
I feed and change her every 2 hours max, sometimes more frequent , never let her go more than that but wondering if I should let her go three hours to ' build up an appetite' rather than ' little and often'
Ah it's a pain when they come too soon, I really thought I'd make my date with this one
Placenta abrubtion again
I've not got an expresser, I've never needed one before, but I can see how they are useful
I gave her 20 ml of formula last night and it knackered my supply, got very over full and had to hand express a bit out, so I won't be offering formula again for a while
Thanks for letting me ramble, and no I'm not worried as such because dd 15 months took 4 weeks to regain her birth weight , she was born at 36 wks and she is a proper little chubster now Grin

FrantasticO · 01/02/2014 14:52

You're not rambling, it's worrying when you think you have to top up.
Sounds like you are doing an amazing job.
The fact that your prev kids all follow the same pattern kind of tells you that all will be well!
Hope you're not too tired with the feeding frenzy, at least you know it gets better.
All hands on deck at donnas, your job is to feed and rest and feed resting might be a tad optimistic with a 15 monther!

Take it as easy as you can girl!

OP posts:
Donnadoon · 02/02/2014 10:56

Fingers crossed your antibiotics have kicked in and your getting back on your feet.
Have serious pram envy!Grin

We are just settled after I found a note in the school bag informing us that someone in the class has lice joy to comb 3 heads just incase
All clear thank god, couldn't be doing with the treatments and mammoth laundry at this time of night.

Middle child is now very interested in "beasties that live in your hair" thanks dh for that little pearl of wisdom!

Hi donna
Hope the weekend has been a good one, with lots of rest when possible.
Can't picture you resting much tough! Grin

Has been a crappy weekend here.
Dog still not well, I'm worried sick that its the end of the road.
Lots of doggie cuddles this weekend.

Off to gymnastics with the brood now, leaving muttley with his dad.
How sad am I?
You'll think I'm nuts but he's one of our family, sure you will know as you have your own pooch.

Anyways,
Hope feeding and sleeping are both going well.
Laters.

OP posts:
Donnadoon · 10/02/2014 12:48

Awww Fran
:( for your mutt
They ARE massively part of the family
I hope the vets can do something for him
I think it's harder when you've got kids because they love him too and if they are upset then you are upset double, triple, however many kids you have
I have everything crossed for you at the vets today
All good here
Had a restful weekend, last week of school here, they break up on Friday for a week
Little dot feeding like a gannet :) won't be a little dot for much longer
Really hope pooch picks up Flowers
