Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

Sorry x posted

calorie deficit - Am I not eating enough? Or am I reading that wrong? Im finding it hard to eat 3 meals a day every day, but just because Im not hungry or dont fancy anything. Im not weighing or counting calories or anything like that.

I have done a quick Google, and it does appear to be a common problem, although I don't know why - it is, presumably, something to do with your metabolic rate.

So exercise would also be a very good thing for you to do. I never, ever, ever thought I would be exercising outside in February, but I have been! Actually, as long as you've got the right clothes on, it's not that bad once you get going.

Ok, I'll keep eating as I am but up the exercise. Anything as long as I can feel comfortable again! Brisk walking obviously isnt enough for me, but its good to have an idea of what changes to make.

Thank you Biwi Smile

blackaffronted it sounds like you are a bit scared of being hungry..?

Report
JakeBullet · 05/03/2013 12:51

Black it is a Hovis loaf...a small one, thin slice and whole meal. I won't be eating it but its fine for DS. Well double check the carbs but know it was much lower than anything else.

BlackAffronted · 05/03/2013 12:53

jake, is that the 400g loaf?

BlackAffronted · 05/03/2013 12:53

Bessie, I have always been scared of hunger!

BIWI · 05/03/2013 12:54

Well that's one thing you don't have to worry about on this WOE, BlackAffronted! If you're eating enough fat/drinking enough water, then you simply won't be hungry. And if you are - then there are lovely things that you can snack on.

Ignore me Black, the Hovis bread is actually 9.0g per slice but 1.0 sugars....it's fine for DS but I am not eating it.

Report
Bessie123 · 05/03/2013 13:01

Why don't you have smaller meals but some snacks ready? I did that and naturally dropped the snacks as I became more used to this WOE. There is really nothing to be scared of about being hungry - it's just a new feeling and if you do feel hungry you,can eat something. Would you drink 10 pints of water in case you got thirsty later?

I find hard boiled eggs, babybels and total are good snacks that you can carry with you if you're going out. Remember, nothing bad will happen from feeling a little bit hungry.

BIWI · 05/03/2013 13:03

Ubercamp will be a really good approach for you, Black, as there is no snacking allowed. It's only for three days, so should be bearable.

black I don't know tbh. I just know that reading that made me recognise that I was greedy and always tried to eat the most I could within any guidelines. I feel much better now trying to eat three sensible sized meals and not snacking unless really hungry. It just was a bit of a lightbulb moment for me that I was eating for eating not because I was hungry. I am enjoying listening to my stomach and not feeling starving or stuffed!

That MyFitnessPal app is quite scary with its measurements isn't it? All my fat content reading are in red. If I eat as planned today my carbs will be 22g but can reduce that by taking off a Brussels sprout Grin

i follow a low carb thread on another forum, and a couple of people there focus on the fat density of foods - they aim for as much fat as you can get in the least volume, so lots of coconut oil, lard, crackling etc

it's far too extreme for me as a WOE, but would tie in with the insulin reaction/volume of food business that MrsHP has described. i wonder whether the same thing would happen if you drank lots and lots of water in one go, rather than evenly spaced out through the day?

guy I feel really hot all the time on this woe - I have been lchf for about 10 months now so maybe it takes time to settle down. It's one of the things that I love about this woe, I always used to be cold when following calorie restricted low fat eating. NB I eat a lot of fat

black have been thinking about you - what biwi said earlier was the key to me - initially I wanted to lose a few pounds but the more I discover about how bad carbs are for your body, the more I can never go back to eating the way I used to. I second finding out as much as you can about it - one of my fav blogs is Zoe Harcombe - here is a blog post about WW which explains why VLCDs do not work and cannot work [http://www.zoeharcombe.com/2011/12/weight-watchers-new-years-day-advert/ blog]

I have decided to complain about the diet advice the dr gave me at my health assessment - it really was total rubbish and I feel I need to speak out

Hi All, I am poorly at present so only just catching up on thread.

Don't know who posted about plate sizes, but love the idea of using our pasta bowls. I think portion size can definitely be a problem, I found that doing Ubercamp 2 weeks ago has sorted out my snacking and portion size, would recommend it Grin

I have no appetite at present but am drinking lots of water, so hoping scales will be kind to me on Monday.

Have just had interview today (for part time temp job - have not worked since September - too much on with DS2's autism to work full time and the only opportunities I was getting were full - so really hoping I get it) so not had time to be on the thread at all but just caught up with it all.

A pound up for me. Serves me right. I drank too much champagne at my friend's fortieth and then committed carbicide with the canapes.

Bah. I had lost another pound and a bit on ubercamp too and was just one pound off losing a stone on bootcamp.

It's my birthday this weekend (oh and happy birthday slummy! Forgot to say at the time!) - my fortieth so lots on, going to Paris for weekend, can't wait! - so am not going to stress too much this week, just stick to the WOE with not much dairy to compensate for the likely increased amounts of wine and go back to ubercamp after my birthday.

And last but not least - wow half!!! Belated well done! You look amazing! Thanks

I have read something about low carb and a sort of thyroid syndrome with symptoms rather like those you describe Guy here Maybe BIWI and the others who know more could tell you if they know anything about this

jake on MFP you can change your targets for fat protein and carbs so that they don't go all red - I think in settings and maybe on a pc. If you can't find them I'll post proper instructions for you!
