Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

I am focusing in on my hunger signals today so am not going to eat until I am hungry. Have had a cup of coffee with a splash if cream but inky do this once a day. Am going to drink water and wait until I feel ready for breakfast. Then today it is fried egg, buttered spinach and.....some kind of meat....or perhaps a sprinkling of cheese.
Also going to peruse the "allowed vegetables" list a bit more and try to make the most of the lower carb ones.

No more nuts, seeds or blueberries until after Sunday now.

I have messed up - I had pizza last night. Yes, pizza. I have no excuse other than me and DP are having some difficulties and I was emotionally eating. I haven't done anything like that since I started this WOE so I'm disappointed in myself. Eggs for breakfast and plenty of water for me today and lets hope I haven't done too much damage.

Penny don't beat yourself up....you had pizza.....it happens.

I am very influenced by the John Briffa book...he says that it's what you do most of the time that matters....not an occasional blow out Grin. So you had pizza.....hope you enjoyed it at the time it's a lovely occasional food but now move on.....and don't hate yourself or feel angry with yourself. It happened, you know why it happened and that's half the battle.

Thanks Jake, that does make me feel better.

Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you, Penny. But Jake is absolutely right. To misquote Scarlett O'Hara - today is another day!

Drink plenty of water and be strict for the next couple of days and you should be fine.

Thanks BIWI. Such a silly thing to do but its done now and there is no point wallowing so onwards and downwards!

The key thing - did you enjoy it? If you did, then great! If, as you were eating it, you were questioning its real appeal or feeling guilty about it, then that tells you something

I enjoyed it while I was eating it, I can't remember the last time I ate pizza and because I was feeling emotionally charged it made me feel better... temporarily. Two hours later when I was feeling hugely bloated because of carbs/gluten it didn't feel so great and I realised that it wasn't worth the stomach ache I'd gotten. I don't think i'll be eating pizza again anytime soon.

To reduce your portion size black you could make your 'normal ' sized dinner, then put half in the fridge for later. See how you feel eating half what you would normally have, and if you are not satisfied have a little more.

No point in cutting your portions then spending the whole evening starving.

I'm also amazed at the veg I now like. Everything tastes nice fired in butter!

fried in butter even!

I am checking my hunger signals today.....and have decided to put DS on this way of eating....mostly. I a, going to give him the odd slice of bread (thin) with butter and peanut butter to fill him up and also a couple of new potatoes with his tea. However have bought 97% meat sausages today and he is having a coup,e for tea with cauliflower mash which he loves and buttered sprouts which he also loves.
Have told him that we are going to try this with him to see if it helps ....he is keen but less keen on "no sweets" so have agreed twice a week something small with the view to weaning him off.
I checked the carbs in all the bread before buying....the one I bought has 1g carb per slice so a slice of toast with butter and peanut butter should come in low.

Packed lunches might be more difficult but will do some research.

....I will of course be sensible with DS, I think children do have a need for easily accessible sugars and starches at times...their nutritional needs are different, but they don't need the refined rubbish they get given all too often. Am happy to add potatoes to my DS's meal while keeping pasta for an occasional treat.

Does he like wraps? You can buy low carb wraps, I believe.

I wouldn't worry too much about cutting his carbs that low - wholegrain toast/sandwiches aren't too bad for him. Just make sure you keep white pasta/rice to a minimum.

low carb wraps

I've never tried them myself (and they are expensive) but these could be worth a go for him?

Wondered if I could ask for some advice/opinions?

Is anyone else feeling really really cold? It feels like Ive been complaining for months... I know we've had some really cold weather etc, but this is getting ridiculous and Im starting to get a little concerned. Im wearing lots of layers but my hands especially are so cold theyre uncomfortable. I feel like I have no energy to do anything, and Im getting tired. Before, I was feeling much more energetic but that seems to have disappeared.

The weather looks beautiful outside today, people walking past in ballet pumps and no coats, yet Im inside with cardy and scarf on, blanket around my legs and contemplating making yet another hot drink Blush

Jake, what bread have you found that has 1g carb per slice? Very interested in that myself.

GuyMartin, I havent been any colder than usual, and though my energy levels havent gone up by much, Im not tired all the time either - maybe youhave something else going on? Hope you feel better soon.

Morning everyone, well done to all this week's losers!

Hope you have a better day today Penny... I too had pizza last night (sorry everyone). Unprecedented x2 fab reports at parents eve and DH got surprise treat for them. I had HM coleslaw and some avocado with 2 slices (and glass of wine left from weekend so double Blush) crikey I was dog rough within an hour or so...

All weigh I tomorrow, doing another 3 days uber, can't believe 10 weeks has nearly finished!

Jake does your DS like tortilla? I make it with a mix of white and sweet potato, my eldest loves it as packed lunch, especially if I put feta cheese in it! It's also great made into kebab type snack with olives and cherry tomatoes, if he likes that kind of thing.

Black - I was thinking the same, like maybe I had a cold on its way but its been for too long now. If it doesnt change then I'll go to see my gp. I just had a quick look on other low carb forums and wonder if it could be to do with my metabolism? Could then explain perhaps why nothings really going on with me regarding weightloss. Must say tho, the no energy feeling is more recent than the feeling cold all the time feeling.

I'll see what I can find out.

GuyMartin... I had a flu virus about a month ago, it has left me really feeling the cold, am wrapped up in 6 layers and wearing a hat in the house! Whatever it is doing the rounds, it seems to be taking weeks to shake off so I'm warming up with hot water... And extra layers!

Guy - get up and go outside for a brisk walk. You will feel much better, honestly! And when you get back inside you will realise it is actually quite warm.

How much exercise do you do?

.... but picked this up from another forum:

"It's the metabolic nature of burning fat - as long as you are in calorie deficit you should find your basal body temperature a bit lower and will feel cold quicker ad stay cold longer upon getting a chill. It's a good sign when you're trying to lose weight."

Thank you thekitchenfairy Smile

Biwi - I like to run but generally dont through the winter Blush so I havent picked that back up as yet though its on the cards. At the moment I walk about an hour a day doing the school run, and I do like to walk briskly. Thats about it, unless I need to walk to the supermarket or to a friends or something. This probably isnt enough, I know Blush

Im just having lunch (tuna mayo and lettuce, fyi Grin ) and will pop out for a walk after, before I meet up with friends for the school run later.
