Has anyone tried the nakd fruit bars? They are absolutely lovely. Not particularly low calorie at between about 130-145 calories per bar, but they are very rich and satisfying. They also count as one of your 5 a day, so if you are struggling, they may help with that. Not exactly cheap either, but as I am saving a fortune on not buying much chocolate or crisps, I think it is justified.
Got the exercising bug badly at the moment and feeling very motivated. I've been looking at the before and after pictures on MFP and find them very inspiring.

LalyRawr · 21/02/2013 09:59

Wise want to share some of that motivation? I'm really struggling the past few days!

Just can't seem to get my arse in gear. Doesn't help that's daughter has decided that sleep is now optional so I'm bloody knackered all day.

postmanpatscat · 21/02/2013 10:17

Hi, I'm snailrunner on MFP if anyone else wants to add me. I've been using it for well over a year, with gaps in between! I'm currently my heaviest ever, and while 10st might not sound like a lot I look much better (and fit my size 10s) at around 9st2 - 9st4.

I've been logging my exercise religiously but ignoring food - it's time for that to change! It doesn't help that I can park near the gym for free if I spend £5 in Asda, but I have to admit that I am not often spending that £5 wisely! I also need over £500 of dental work done on just two teeth because of my lifelong sugar habit.

It's time for change. New MFP friends extremely welcome :)

DoubleMum · 21/02/2013 10:37

Wonder if my kids would like those Naked bars Wise. Need something to get them away from more naughty stuff on a regular basis.

WiseKneeHair · 21/02/2013 14:50

Hi postmanpatscat can I call you Jess for short? welcome and I've sent you a friend request on MFP.

Double I have wondered the same. Trouble is, they are so expensive, that it might bankrupt me if all three start eating them regularly, as well as DH and I. The cheapest I've found is about 58p a bar, they usually seem to be about 75p each. So for five of us, at one a day, that would be £20.30 a week!

Laly why do you need motivating? You've just got into a healthy BMI. You should feel blooming marvellous. I know it's difficult with a little one that won't sleep, I had years of that. Try and be kind to yourself and don't expect too much too soon because you are doing brilliantly. Do you have any old photos to remind yourself of want you looked like before you started? What about your DP having your DD for a few hours over the weekend, whilst you treat yourself to a manicure or something? You definitely deserve a non food treat for getting into a healthy BMI. Remember, you CAN do this, we are all here to support you.

DoubleMum · 21/02/2013 15:12

OK on second thoughts perhaps I won't introduce them Wise!

Hello everyone. I lost the thread for a whle so it's nice to catch up and I've added a whole bunch of the even newer than me newbies.

I joined MFP almost four weeks ago and have lost 5.5lbs. I started dieting mid-January though and have lost 12.5lbs in total since then and am feeling so good about the weightloss. Have another half stone to go but hope to stick with MFP long term to ensure I maintain the lost weight.

Absolutely loving MFP and all the lovely friends and support. Xxx

mrsnec · 22/02/2013 11:02

Hello everyone! Marking my place again. Hi to all the newbies too. You're all doing very well. I'm a bit gutted that I put on a KG on my hols. Hope to shift it very soon. I did break all of my rules! I'm going to measure myself again tomorrow too to see if that makes me feel any better.

nogoodusernamesleft · 22/02/2013 11:52

Hi everyone, is it ok to join in? I've been using MFP on and off for a year, but could really do with a bit of extra motivation. I'd really got back into it in the last month, but then I had to have my top rib removed last week and since then have sat around pigging on chocolates! Grin Am hoping to get back to walking rather than running next week and so will have to keep a careful eye on what I'm eating. Am off to Costa Rica at the end of April with a friend so could really do with getting some poundage off. Grin My name on MFP is fattybumbum36 if anyone would like to add me! Smile

postmanpatscat · 22/02/2013 12:14

Having a rib removed sounds nasty! Welcome, have sent you a friend request (snailrunner)

WiseKneeHair · 22/02/2013 15:54

Welcome nogood I'll send you a friend request.
mrsnec you are a numpty! said in the nicest possible way but only putting on 1kg on a holiday should be cause for celebration (of the non calorific variety). I remember someone coming back from holiday, when I did SW, with a gain of 12lbs in a week. She was at target as well and it had taken her something like 15 weeks to lose those 12lbs!
I've made the big ?foolish decision to up my calories today by 250. The plan is then to up them again in a few weeks by another 250 if I don't put on weight. This will then take me to my TDEE-20% level. So, my weight loss may slow down, but it should be more sustainable. I'm also keen to lose as little muscle as possible and from what I've read, this is a better way of doing it. We'll see how it goes.
Some handholding may be necessary, please?

mrsnec · 22/02/2013 17:14

Yes I'm a numpty I know but I'm only just at my first stone and I wanted to have lost more by now. I was only away 4 days and walked everywhere. It was worth it though as a friend pointed out today I couldn't not have Bellinis, Prosecco, full fat cappuccinos and Tiramisu! Should be happy too as I did have an NSV. Got a dress in Desigual. Their stuff has never fitted before! Anyway, I meant to say I'm all for faffing about with your cals to see what it does. Doing a bit of that myself at the moment. I'm not convinced by the starvation mode thing as the peeps on 5:2 and those who just eat fwer cals on my MFP list have really impressive losses. Those that eat closer to their goal, not so much which is why I aim for the middle. At the moment.

WiseKneeHair · 22/02/2013 19:23

Well done on the new dress mrsnec, I don't know the make, is it French? Am I right in thinking they don't vanity size as much as the uk? Definitely agree you couldn't have missed all those tummy things whilst away.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/02/2013 19:38

Sounds like good decision wisekneehair :)

OP posts:
mrsnec · 22/02/2013 21:02

Spanish brand wise. I still need an XL which they say is a 16 which I still am in theory but they don't do vanity sizing. A friend told me she thinks it's more a 12-14 but I'm sure she's just making me feel better!

Don't forget to let us know how you get on with the cals. One interesting point while I was away I logged one day. I ate junk but not full portions and I felt a kind of internal switch telling me to stop at what turned out to be maintainence cals. That's never happened to me before and I'm less worried about overeating than I was before. Bit of a breakthrough that maybe you'll find a similar thing and find what suits.

flootshoot · 22/02/2013 21:52

Finally tracked down my bathroom scales (down the side of the washing machine - where else? Hmm). So first weigh in tomorrow morning. I've been 10 stone forever so after two weeks back on MFP I'm hoping to be slightly less.....

FeijoaVodkaAndCheezels · 24/02/2013 09:54

Having people actively looking at my diary is definitely helping thank you! (arse is feeling nicely kicked Grin.

I am currently winding down bfing DD and have stopped logging extra calories for that which will hopefully help a little. Once she is (fingers crossed as she's very stubborn about booby) finished in a couple of weeks I am going to rejig my daily quota to be slighty less.

I've sent a couple of friend requests this morning x Feel free to add me (FeijoaJam) if you haven't already.

Dizzydora71 · 24/02/2013 13:22

Hi everyone. I started Mfp 7 weeks ago . I've lost 3lbs today so in total I've lost 1 stone 8.5 lbs in 7 weeks. I can see I'm losing it but its not showing in my dress sizes (tried the next size down in clothes this weekend doesn't fit yet) but my clothes look really baggy . Feel free to add me on Mfp same username as here. Welcome all newbies too xx

WiseKneeHair · 24/02/2013 16:25

Well done Dizzy you are doing really well.
Floot how did the weigh in go?
Feijoa I said we were nosy.

I'm enjoying my extra calories, trying to use them on nuts, seeds and dried fruit and wine and chocolate. Well see how my weigh in goes on Tuesday.

nogoodusernamesleft · 24/02/2013 18:19

Thank you to everyone that added me (fattybumbum36)! Nothing quite like knowing everyone else can read your diary to keep you on track! Grin

I am ON this from tomorrow morning, have 8 weeks to shed some serious poundage before Costa Rica, so need to get serious!

postmanpatscat · 24/02/2013 21:21

So DD2 is desperate to make apple pie, we bought bramley apples and a readymade pastry case, then get home and I remember that pies have a top crust too Hmm so we bought jusrol pastry on our next trip and I've just made a treacle tart with the original pastry case, yum!

Where does this fit into my diet, you wonder...well, I'm doing 5:2 so it fits in very nicely!

Chopstheduck · 25/02/2013 07:49

Morning girls!

Back to it today, think I have put on about 3lbs :( Was a bit miffed about that tbh, since we were really active, but I think it will soon come off again.

Holiday was fab, but didn't get near the gym in the end, because we walked for miles everyday, went skiing, etc. Ate loads of nice food, poutine is the best invention ever! Plus on the last night we went to a very posh Heston Blumenthal style restaurant. The food just kept coming and was out of this world. Little theatrical displays - Ham on a washing line, cheese cigars offered from a box, and the best bit was a book, that they opened at the table, and out comes a big puff of smoke and inside was a heavenly little smoked salmon tartlet. Oh and the breakfast buffets! The hotel was 4* and the buffet was huge!

Thinking about it, it's no wonder I put on weight!

DoubleMum · 25/02/2013 07:50

Well done Dizzy!

nogoodusernamesleft · 25/02/2013 09:28

Dizzy, you have done really well!

Chops, that restaurant sounds amazing, I want to go now!

Am I being really stupid? I can't see how to add people by their usernames on MFP? I click on Add Friends, then it only gives me the option of Facebook friends, phone contacts or finding by email address. Am I missing something? I'd be grateful if some kind soul could point me in the right direction!
