Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

BIWI · 28/01/2013 08:55

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

Doshusallie · 01/02/2013 20:09

Hope ure ok Jac. Xx

littlermissstan · 01/02/2013 20:16

STUFFED full of prawn curry, and made some spicy cauliflower and spinach to go with it. Top Friday night! Seriously cannot believe I am this full on a "diet" :) Happy weekend everyone!

Kiriwawa · 01/02/2013 20:30

It was doughlike BIWI. The flax is Linwoods, they just didn't have any 'plain' bags. Did you grate your cheese yourself? I'm wondering whether (related to Colly's point about additives in ready grated cheese) it just didn't bind together enough. The cheese really didn't seem to melt properly.

Colly - good point, that didn't even occur to me. It's Waitrose and it's 0.9g of potato starch per 100g which doesn't seem too bad but obviously I'd be better off grating it myself but I'm lazy

BIWI · 01/02/2013 20:32

If you're using a food processor to make the dough, then you could just as easily use it to grate the cheese first. I don't think, though, that pre-grated cheese would make any difference.

Are you sure you weighed the quantities out right?

Although, if it made a dough, it sounds like it would be right!

I did it with my add and weight scales which is what I do when I make cakes and they turn out okay.

I did mix by hand too so I'm going to grate my own cheese next time, mix it in the processor and roll it with my pin. And if it's still crap, then obviously I am destined never to eat your marvellous crispy biscuits (unless you fancy sending me a tupperware container full :o )

SavoirFaire · 01/02/2013 20:57

Doshu take care with Bran Flakes - they have a surprisingly large amount of sugar in them.

Hope you are feeling ok Jacs

My day:
B: 2 eggs/butter
L: leftover roast chicken, broccoli and spinach
D: using up what was left in the fridge, so had an avocado alongside cauli rice fried with some wilted spinach and some grilled bacon, topped off with some parmesan.

I am having a cheeky small glass of red wine. I was tempted not to tell you but it is the weekend and I feel I deserve it after ignoring a massive open barrel of biscuits all afternoon at my friends house while the DCs were playing!

BIWI · 01/02/2013 21:01
Grin

If it's any consolation, Kiri, my attempt made things that were so thin and fragile you wouldn't be able to use them as biscuits anyway!!!

L - Chicken parmesan with green beans

D - slow cooker pot roast (divine) with cauliflower rice and shallots.

brighthair · 01/02/2013 22:54

10 days in, no cheats and weigh/measure day was today
Down 3kg, and 2.5cm loss from chest, 2.5cm off stomach and 2.5cm off waist

SavoirFaire · 01/02/2013 23:00

BIWI - can you summarise what will knock us out of ketosis? Is it a specific amount of carbs or certain types of foods/drinks/wine ?

BIWI · 01/02/2013 23:02

It's simple. Too many carbs.

However.

What makes it complicated is that everyone has a different amount of carbs that they can tolerate.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your support again Smile

Busy day so not much time to post.

Good news is I had it out with DH this evening and he has apologised for being an arse. He has taken the monitor and himself to the spare room so I can kip in peace. Yippee. No snoring from DH or wailing from DS.

You have all been really supportive.

I did see the post about dying from lack of sleep. I am sure it's possible.

I was meant to come back and post meals. I will do from now on.

Today was;
B- egg white omelette with spinach cooked in coconut oil.
L- Greek yog with spoonful of almond butter. Almond butter is like peanut butter only from, well, almonds. But it's much much lower in carb. It's 4g of carb per 100g whereas peanut butter is 10g of carb p 100g.

D- avocado lettuce black olives and grilled halloumi.
S- pepparami (sorry BIWI but the DC were eating their dinner at 5pm and it was better than eating their chicken paella).
3 coffees today (not bad it was 5 on Thursday).
And off to sleep undisturbed hopefully. Sweet dreams.

JustasmallGless · 01/02/2013 23:15

Night skandi - glad you have sorted things out with DH and that he has taken responsibility for children tonight. Remember no matter what - SLEEP.
All will seem better after some kip

Meals look fine to me but sure BIWI will be along soon!

You and I are the same height but I am big boned and a heffalump. So what you class as overweight was me nearly at a good weight! Keep going I have lost 2 stone and down to 12st 7. Would like to lose another stone this year before going on summer hols.
We CAN do this

Now go and sleep...Flowers

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 02/02/2013 07:36

Morning all
I havent been on here much this week and so have a lot of catching up to do. Hope you are all doing ok.

I have had a really upset stomach all week - sorry if TMI, but really watery/smelly diarreah and painful cramping with it. I suffer with ulcerative colitis but this is not like a normal flare up, and seems to be lingering too long to be a bug - so can only put it down to what I am eating, which is not unlike my previous diet, just without the carbs and with extra butter, cheese and cream.

I had a couple of days like this in the first couple of weeks but was ok again the next day or so. I have tried reducing the amount of dairy but it not really having any effect. Just wondered if others have had this - and if it passes?

As I have only lost about 4lbs I am starting to think the weight loss is not worth the nasty side effects for me. Sad

thekitchenfairy · 02/02/2013 08:55

Not been able to check in, floored by a hideous achy cold but thinking of you all, especially Jaca, Skandi, Starfish, Yama hoping your weeks have ended better than they started.

I seem to be snacking a lot, my appetite seems to have come back but that may be the cold not sure what is going on. worried i am eating too much cheese or ham but at least I am resisting cake and cookies.

Where is the celeriac bake recipe from? Couldn't see it on the recipe thread, sounds delicious. The tiffin is goi g to be made today too, have to plan DS birthday cake so my head will be stuck in Mary Berry all day and that sounds like the perfect thing to keep me on the straight and narrow :-)

Happy Saturday everyone, keep up the good work Grin

littlermissstan · 02/02/2013 09:10

thekitchenfairy I'm not sure the bake was an official recipe! I think Choos posted it first, but what I did was slice up celeriac in the food processor, then in a big pan fried leek and garlic in butter. I added some chopped bacon and fried that too, I think Choos used chicken. When all is fried, mix in a pack of crumbled feta and some spinach - I used 6 of the frozen balls. Then layer up this mixture and the sliced celeriac in a dish. Pour over a bit of cream and a bit of chicken stock - I used about 400ml stock which was too much, so less than this! Bake for about 45 mins, then put grated cheese on top and put back in the oven until brown and melty. We had it with roast chicken thighs. Mmmm! Sorry for lack of proper measurements!

Am hungry now so am going to get out of bed in search of yogurt!

littlermissstan · 02/02/2013 09:11

Oh, and I added thyme to the fried mixture too

BIWI · 02/02/2013 09:22

Oh Taffy - that doesn't sound very good Sad

I don't know anything about ulcerative colitis - what triggers it for you normally? Or is it an 'all the time' thing?

What about cutting out all dairy for a while, rather than just cutting down? A lot of people do have issues with dairy, and it could be that this is a problem for you. But with the caveat that I know nothing about your condition ...

BIWI · 02/02/2013 09:22

skandi1 I'm so pleased that you managed to talk with your DH and that he also understood how horrible he was being. But more than anything else, I hope that you actually had a good night's sleep!

OP posts:
Ruprekt · 02/02/2013 09:26

Am hoping that Skandi is still sleeping..............

Doshusallie · 02/02/2013 09:34

Skandi [whispers so as not to wake her] sainsbo basics pb is 3.8g per 100g. Please can that celeriac thing go on the recipe section? And the tiffin?

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/02/2013 09:35

And the crackers and pancakes? I am loving year ideas but can never find then again on my phone!!!
