Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

BIWI · 28/01/2013 08:55

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

Half a lb on.Sad still having constipationissues Sad

Have been having soy flour and ground almonds though so am going to cut them this week and see what happens

NoelHeadbands · 30/01/2013 07:01

Morning all

Had a couple of spoons of full fat Greek yoghurt and cream this morning. No more than that because it's SO filling. It always gives me a squelchy tummy whilst I'm eating it too, although no other ill effects...

Iamaslummymummy · 30/01/2013 07:05

2 boiled eggs, slice of German meat, slice of maasdam cheese and Mayo. Yum!

BIWI · 30/01/2013 08:08

Scales are, today at least, my friend! After faffing around for a while I'm finally shifting the Christmas weight. 2lbs more and I'll be back to where I was pre-Christmas. And I'm definitely back on the wagon. Yesterday I simply wasn't hungry, even though I had a gym session in the morning, so I had:

B - boiled egg, yolk only, as the white wasn't cooked properly! [bleurgh]
L - half a pork chop, 3 mushrooms fried in butter (I was literally too full to eat the rest
S - when home from work, some Cheshire cheese
D - roasted pork belly, crackling, green salad with vinaigrette

captainmummy · 30/01/2013 08:28

BIWI - I'm glad the scales are going in the right direction for you! Andwhy is it that we can eat half-cooked egg-yolk but not half-cooked egg-white.....?

Andway, just chucked a pork joint in the slow-cooker for tonight - doing your spiced-pork in coconut.

No breakfast today as am meeting a friend in Horsham and there will be Latte.

prettybird · 30/01/2013 08:33

My sneaky extra weight-in yesterday showed a 2lb loss - so that's a stone in total since 7 January. SmileSmile

PennyHofstadter · 30/01/2013 08:38

I weighed myself this morning for the first time since Friday and the weekend debacle and I'm 0.75lb up on Fridays weight. I can live with this, I thought it was going to be a lot worse and that I'd completely ruined all my efforts. I've been right back on it since Monday though. Breakfast today is 2 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with mushrooms and a sprinkling of grated cheese. I'm not holding out much hope for losing much this week, my stomach has got that achy heavy feeling that normally signals TOTM... Sad

PennyHofstadter · 30/01/2013 09:21

I look in the mirror and feel and look fatter than ever. I got measured for my bridesmaid dress on Saturday and my measurements were 40-29.5-44!! How on earth do I reduce the size of my thighs? They stick out A LOT. Any exercise tips?

PostBellumBugsy · 30/01/2013 09:47

Penny - callenetics is fantastic for thigh slimming.

DorisIsWaiting · 30/01/2013 09:48

Grin Grin Grin

Lost 4lbs this week (I like my wednesday weigh day!) lost 12lbs in total so far, but I have LOTS to lose. This week goal to get under 13 stone (1/2lb) so doable but hopefully the weightloss won't stall. I have a wedding next weekend and a new dress so I'm keeping on, keeping on.

Forgot to say Frou I'm really sorry for you loss I hope you have lots of rl support.

PostBellumBugsy · 30/01/2013 10:01

Gah - Callanetics!

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 10:08

OMG!!!!!

Just weighed myself and am 179.8lbs!!! I started on 7 Jan at 193lbs!!!

Now, do I get Willy to put that on the spreadsheet as it might go up again.

BIWI - what shall I do?

Well done on your weightloss!

LavenderBriggs · 30/01/2013 10:16

I did a VO2Max test this morning - 12 minutes running as fast as possible. Came home and inhaled my buttery scrambled eggs, buttery mushroom and slice of ham. Coffee and cream went down pretty quick too.

Can now get jeans on and off without undoing any buttons. Belt is now essential.

State of mind - content and feel as if I'm actually looking after my body. I feel a bit guilty about the amount of sugar I've poured in over the years.

Very pleased for the mid-week weigh-ins. The pounds are just melting away - well done all.

Penny what exercise do you do?

BIWI · 30/01/2013 10:16

Just put it in the spreadsheet, quick!

Well done prettybird! A stone is fabulous - and a real psychological boost, isn't it? Grin And Daisy you are almost at the stone mark too - great going in just 3 and a half weeks Thanks

Hello chaps. Sorry, not had time to catch up, hope everyone is feeling good.

B: an experimental omelette featuring leftover cauliflower rice mixed in. It was rather tasty.
L: tuna and egg salad
D: celeriac and stilton soup

I seem to have ditched the three weekend pounds already through two really strict days and gallons of water. Am impressed!

I love this WOE whereby scoffing a pork loin steak cooked in a wedge of butter with a load of massively buttery spinach is classed as a strict day Grin

Have a splendid day, all.

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 10:19

Willy!

Weight is down to 179lbs!!!

Put it on the spreadsheet quick!!!!!!!

Wink
BIWI · 30/01/2013 10:24

How's Mr Ruprekt doing?!

OP posts:
Iamaslummymummy · 30/01/2013 11:53

In toilet news, I no longer have put on weight Blush

Am a whole 3oz down from last weekGrin

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 12:00

Mr Ruprekt is doing brilliantly and is committed to the WOE which is amazing!

He is away all week but sticking to the plan. He ordered prawns, steak without potatoes but extra buttery veg and a cheese board on Tues night. Said he was really full.

Need to weigh when he gets back but he has definitely lost more weight.

He does mourn the lack of pizza in his life. Would it be disastrous if he had a pizza when we go to Zizzi?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/01/2013 12:07

Just popping in to say I can't keep up with you all Smile

I lost a pound last week and have updated the spread sheet.

Despite gifts of Dolly Mixture, I am still on track, my children had them [angel]

PennyHofstadter · 30/01/2013 12:09

Lavendar if I'm honest I'm a bit hit and miss with exercise. I mainly do exercise DVDs at home and I have Davina Fit, the Shred and Insanity. I was doing the Shred but only got 4 days in before I couldn't take anymore of the workout or Jillian Michaels! It's so dull. This week I've been doing Davina Fit. I guess I really need a structured, interesting workout. I have asthma and find that over exertion makes me wheeze so I haven't really done much Insanity as I find it too much at the moment. I also love Pilates but its not really conducive to weightloss.

WillieWaggledagger · 30/01/2013 12:10

perhaps not disastrous, but:

  • he will come out of ketosis and will probably take several days to get back into it
  • it will likely trigger some major carb cravings that he will have to work really hard against
  • he may well put on several pounds as a result. they would likely come back off again pretty quickly as long as he is strict afterwards, but it's always a bit depressing
  • it probably won't be a great as he remembers (though of course it might be!)
  • it could give him some rather uncomfortable stomach cramps and / or diarrhoea

he may well feel that risking the above is worth it for pizza, and if he's going to eat it he should eat mindfully, enjoying every mouthful, but he should also be clear in his mind that he might not like some of the side-effects

skandi1 · 30/01/2013 12:58

Hello everyone.

Only able to post now as its been manic with decorators and other trades men turning up this am. DH forgot to tell me the electrician was coming to install the new lights for lounge - they have been sitting in basement for 3 months and DH has made sure its all done whilst he is away. Arse. My wrath awaits him on his return tomorrow.

Thank you all for the support and suggestions re DS and poor sleep. That boy is in for some changes! No more mrs nice night mummy!

Been pretty lonely lately so this helps so much Smile (can you hear the violins? Grin)

BIWI. I finally worked out why I am not losing. It's simple. I eat way too much! I thought it was carb so got a carb counter app (get me eh) and my carb has been very low and alway below 25g a day. Buuuuut. I accidentally looked at calories the app also counts and it's no fecking wonder. I eat between 2600 and 3000 cals aday!! It's a miracle I haven't gain weight. If I ate around 2000 the weight would probably drop off.

I am a proper dunce. Hmm I am in ketosis and have been for over two weeks continuously. But still hungry enough to shovel a third extra cals a day away. Ugh. I am useless.

So my mission is now to actually eat less. I have clearly cracked the intake of carb situation and keep that very low but I consume so much fat I end up with too many calories. Even the great Briffa says you can't eat unlimited food and LC wouldn't work if you eat too much full stop.

Oh well at least I know. Sigh.

Thanks again to everyone here. It's nice to feel supported.

LavenderBriggs · 30/01/2013 13:17

Penny do you enjoy the DVDs? Do you think you could introduce some walking? If you start off gently you could get some benefits without making your asthma worse. Another thing that can help is logging your activity - it can make you aware of how much movement you do and where you can make some increases. Your measurements show that your hip to waist ratio is 'excellent', so you're starting from a good place. BBC Hip to Waist Guide

Skandi You're not a proper dunce. Ok? You've eased yourself into a new way of eating (in some very trying circumstances). Don't be sad - if you've cracked carbs you can crack anything (but try and leave the decorators alone).

PennyHofstadter · 30/01/2013 13:22

Lavendar I am enjoying the Davina DVD at the moment. I've done Insanity a few times and its v.v. tough and while I wouldn't say I enjoy it, I do feel a sense of achievement at the end. Last summer I was walking up a local hill twice a week after work but had to stop with the dark nights. I will resume that once its light enough outside for me to go after work but maybe I should look at going up on weekends until then.
