Thanks for the new thread, I've just caught up. I'm hoping our kitchen will be finished tomorrow so I can start cooking properly over the weekend. Surviving on soups and the "healthy" ranges of ready meals is starting to get rather dull! and everyone's recipes are making my fingers twitch to start cooking

Weighing boobs had me laughing! I actually went hunting for the scales last night but couldn't find them Confused I actually think DP might have hidden them from himself as he has just as much weight to lose as I do even if he won't admit it Grin

I'm off to check MFP now I've caught up with the thread, then I'm heading to bed!

hevak · 10/01/2013 23:08

Ah, snice, I have been there far, far more often than I'd like to admit and it sucks. I've gone down the route of simply not having any of that stuff in the house, otherwise I stand no chance - clearly I have no willpower.

I read a really interesting book a while ago (I'll try and remember the title later, it's escaped my mind) which explained the link between exercise and mood really well. Since I've been exercising every day I've stopped craving the "bad" foods so much, it took about 4-5 days of exercise before the cravings stopped though.

snice · 10/01/2013 23:10

I know you're right but its the thought of the first week and never sitting with a book and a packet of choc digestives again Sad

hevak · 10/01/2013 23:11

I should clarify that I no longer have the desire to binge on "bad" foods (ie. eat 1000 calories of it in one go), rather than I have no desire to have any bad food whatsoever!

juneybean · 10/01/2013 23:11

But it's okay to do that... as long as it's not every day. I know what you mean though I do think gosh am I going to be eating a salad for the rest of my life but then I think it's all in moderation. A packet of digestives one day, a salad for the next 6 to counteract it.

juneybean · 10/01/2013 23:14

I'm not suggesting a digestive diet there btw.... just meant that although you're changing your habits, a rare blow out isn't the end of the world.

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:15

Hello,

Can I still join you?

I have eaten quite a few Reece's Peanut Butter cups today.

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:15

I'll have a read through of thread

juneybean · 10/01/2013 23:17

Oh Shine you just reminded me.... I tried a reese's peanut butter cup for the first time last month and I've never been a fan of peanut butter but they were rather moreish.

Does peanut butter taste the same? (it's been literally decades since I last had peanut butter) but I don't want to buy a jar if I'm not going to like it. I thought I could get some protein from it.

snice · 10/01/2013 23:17

I feel ridiculously cheered about guru ShineOn's Peanut Butter frenzy-it gives me hope

hevak · 10/01/2013 23:17

Oh, I know - you just have to choose to replace it with something else. I used to be able to eat a whole pack of caramel digestives plus a pack of foxes double choc chip cookies plus a 2 litre bottle of diet coke during one film on consecutive Friday and Saturday nights every weekend - so as you can see, I was really bad!

That was 2 years ago now. I started by cutting down for a couple of weeks and then just not buying the stuff so it wasn't in the house to tempt me. It took a lot of willpower initially to get off the bus (stop was right outside the shop) after work and walk past the shop to go home without stopping to buy something. I literally had to talk to myself (in my head of course!) and say "I will not walk into the shop, I will go straight home."

I used to use food as a reward and to cheer myself up, then I switched to beauty products/make up etc and now I'm happy to watch Lisa Eldridge's make up tutorials and not even waste money on beauty stuff I don't need! It's honestly been a revolution, although it was in fits and starts.

snice · 10/01/2013 23:18

god-don't buy peanut butter-its a short step to standing in the kitchen eating it straight from the jar with a teaspoon

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:19

Oh I love peanut butter and can't keep it in the house. Skippy's is the best. Yes, it's delicious on hot buttered toast.

I am going to attempt a cleanse tomorrow. Wholesome, clean foods. So the Peanut butter cups had to go < via my mouth >

I am going to do a weigh in in the morning and take it from there I think and then commit to losing some weight. I am about 9 stone 6 I think after christmas, so that probably means I am in for a horrible shock as I am guesstimating that. Don't think I'm too far out though.

hevak · 10/01/2013 23:20

Lots of cross posts! I don't find peanut butter moreish but there's a good reason I don't buy nutella - the whole jar would go in one day!

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:20

Snice - I ate 6 of them.

6 cups, not 6 packets. They had to go after taunting me from the kitchen with their peanutty voices.... so they've now gone.

And I can look forward to pink lady apples, walnuts, salad and avocados tomorrow < groans >

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:21

Hevak - I hate Nutella as it tastes synthetic to me. Although if push came to shove I could certainly ram a fair bit. Chocolate innit?

juneybean · 10/01/2013 23:21

Ohh I thought peanut butter was "healthy" /deluded ... although thinking about it, you'd think butter would be an indicator doh!

Fern123 · 10/01/2013 23:23

Hello chieftains!
Had a good day yesterday after Tuesdays shameful afternoon beige, and today wasn't too bad until I had a soda farl- it's not my fault tho, I'm from Norn Iron, it's practically mandatory!!
Completed MFP for the day then ran off to bed early couldn't be tempted to start mindlessly grazing.
And yes to whoever it was up thread who is also deaf without their glasses, me too! And they must weigh at least a stone!
Loving the thread title - and the thread!

shine0ncrazydiamond · 10/01/2013 23:23

Nah, it isn't healthy. Well, it may be if you have a tablespoon of the stuff once a week or so... but in the quantities that most normal folk would like to eat it in, it's a no no. Full of fat.

snice · 10/01/2013 23:24

i am going to try harder tomorrow - I may even unwrap the shred DVD that I bought 18 mths ago

amimagic · 10/01/2013 23:24

Hello new chaffers thread! Has anyone done that hypno thingy where you eat chocolate or other lovely foodstuffs but imagine you're eating like, poo , or ear wax or suchlike to put you off it for ever?
