Hello everyone!

I've been off the radar that last couple of days so need to go back and read through everyone's posts. Its Day 6 for me and I've lost 6lbs so far. Hoping to lose 1 more by Tuesday morning to make it a full half stone.

Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow. Looking forward to reading all about your progress!

Yama · 06/01/2013 15:22

Hi everyone,

I'm in. Dh is going to pick up some scales later today (I've never owned any). My guess is that I'll be a shade over 10 stone. What's that in lbs? About 145?

We have plenty of meat/veg and salad stuff in and I've already made some bol, turkey and leek bites and those scrumptious cheese crackers.

So, today:

B - chicken thigh and cheese cracker
L - Smoked mackerel, lettuce, cucumber and pate
D - will be turkey/leek bites with cauliflower rice

We are moving house in 2 weeks and I have an extremely busy time at work coming up but I've decided my mindset will have to be that this will help and not hinder my stress levels. Smile

Dh low carbs already but is lactose intolerant so can't have butter or cream.

DangerousMouse · 06/01/2013 15:25

This is day 2 for me, today I had an Atkins shake for brekkie, the curry cauliflower soup for lunch which was lovely, and we are having omelette and salad for dinner.

I feel so lightheaded today, no ketones yet is that normal?

I don't really have any cravings, except after a meal for sweet things, feeling pretty full though! No weight loss yet

Spamspamspam · 06/01/2013 16:01

Dangerous - perfectly normal - read my post on page 25 which explains the process Smile

froufroulala · 06/01/2013 16:03

Afternoon all. Day 5. Weighed in this morning at 16st 1.75lbs. From tomorrow will only weigh once a week. Its been okay so far but early days. That video & all of you on here are really helping me, I read everything everyone says.

BlackAffronted · 06/01/2013 16:06

Day 2 for me also, have had corned beef sandwiches for a late breakfast (thank you to whoever suggested them!), then lettuce & mayo for a snack, a bowl of cabbage & leek soup with cheese sprinkled on. Dinner tonight is going to be pork/paprika stroganoff thingy with mushrooms.

To the poster who is doing BLW - will your baby not eat scarmabled egg with you instead of porridge? Or some yogurt? I dont think porridge would be ok until you are maintaining, and then probably not every day!

No veggie advice, sorry Jules

PrincessSparkle86 · 06/01/2013 16:19

I must confess to u all.... i need to drink more :-\ BIWI wheres that stick?!

ive been going since new years day...think ive lost about 2 or 3 pounds so far...

OTTMummA · 06/01/2013 16:20

I am making the braised cabbage right now,,, it smells delish and I can't wait to eat it! It feels against my nature to use cream on veggies for weight loss, but that video has really had me thinking, I am going to start making a few changes to DH and DS woe as well, even though they are both skinny rakes, this has got to be healthier than raising blood sugar levels all the time with carbs.

PrincessSparkle86 · 06/01/2013 16:20

dangerous i'm lightheaded too and yes i think it is normal when kicking in the carbs!!

Lavenderhoney · 06/01/2013 16:24

I've been given a top tip for water drinking. In the morning fill a water bottle with the amount you have to drink and carry it with you everywhere. I now have a beaker along with the dc :)

Yama · 06/01/2013 16:32

PrincessSparkle - my plan for drinking more water whilst working is a pint in the morning, a refillable bottle for at work, a pint when I get home and then another throughout the evening.

I'm really thirsty so the water is going down a treat.

PrincessSparkle86 · 06/01/2013 16:32

Ive figured i need at least 6 big cups of water... so far ive been managing 3 and ive been at home... but i agree i should defo just keep drinking out of the same bottle then i will know!

Yama · 06/01/2013 16:34

That's a good tip Lavender. My dh takes a 2L bottle of water to work with him and makes sure he finishes it.

MulledwineGless · 06/01/2013 16:39

Water- sports cap bottle and refill. There is something scientific why it makes it easier to drink more

Ruprekt · 06/01/2013 16:54

Just stocked up at Waitrose with

cucumber
parmesan
Romaine Lettuce
A delish pecorino and basil dip
FF coleslaw
FF Mayo

DH has been doing this for 2 days and is CRAVING a cappuccino and biscuit.

I have told him that his addiction to sugar is making him grumpy and to have a stick of celery.

So he did, with dip, and is much better.

Ruprekt · 06/01/2013 16:56

Brussel sprouts - I love em! Are they OK?

NoelHeadbands · 06/01/2013 16:59

My DH is also doing this with me this time- has no weight to lose (well about 4lb), but has become interested in the science behind it as he's a bit of an endurance athlete.

It's funny to see him checking the labels on everything now, after laughing at me all year Grin

NoelHeadbands · 06/01/2013 17:00

Sprouts are fine Smile

MulledwineGless · 06/01/2013 17:02

Yy to Brussels sprouts

There is a recipe on the mumsnet low carb section for sprouts and chorizo. I have Also seen one for sprouts and pancetta

BigStickBIWI · 06/01/2013 17:06

Noel Your DH might like to read this if he's an endurance athlete People often say you can't train/exercise hard if you're low carbing, but this book says otherwise

Ruprekt Brussels sprouts are 3.5g carbs per 100g according to the list on the spreadsheet, but FatSecret UK has them at 8.95g per 100g. Confused

Check to see if there is a carb count on the back of your packet.

BigStickBIWI · 06/01/2013 17:09

Weightloss Resources give them as 3.2g per 100g. I think I would probably assume that the lower count is OK, but if there is on-pack info, check that.

MsRinky · 06/01/2013 17:09

I'm having sprout and broccoli Parmesan gratin with roast chicken for dinner. Yum.

NoelHeadbands · 06/01/2013 17:12

That's the one he's reading BIWI, he's raving about it

BigStickBIWI · 06/01/2013 17:13

Oh good!

Perhaps he'd care to come on here and explain in words of one syllable what it's all about then? Grin

Bessie123 · 06/01/2013 17:13

Make the braised cabbage recipe with sprouts, it's really nice.
