Thanks for posting that, mumat39 - makes me feel better about continuing with the olive oil!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 06/01/2013 12:21

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post, I'll read through here properly during the week when Ive got the time. I didnt have any wine last night so Im going to have a glass of red shortly before my dinner, whilst watching big bang theory Grin

Scales still havent shifted, however my stomach is definitely flatter as Im wearing a clingy knitted dress with jeggings and I dont feel like I wanna run away and hide Blush

Have a lovely day everyone Smile

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 06/01/2013 12:23

Willie - other resources to be added to the spreadsheet - should definitely include

There's also another book, The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 06/01/2013 12:27

That book is a bit technical, and hard-going in places, but very worth reading if you want to know more about the science of low carbing.

NoelHeadbands · 06/01/2013 12:42

Willie Thanks thanks for your spreadsheet work

Sympathies on the scales issue, last year I managed two weeks of LCing before my scales broke and I was GUTTED to find that the snazzy new ones weighed me half a stone heavier Grin

So far today I've had scrambled eggs with Boursin and one sausage, plus a black coffee

cocolepew · 06/01/2013 12:47

frenchfries there are excellent probiotics on the Pure Bio website, it's what I used after having all the anti biotics after my op.

mum39 we have a pupil who is allergic to coconut, he is incredible sensitive to it, we can't even use shampoos etc with coconut extract in them.

FANFARE I'm wearing my favourite jeans for the first time in ages. Not only could I do them up, I can sit down in them too! GrinGrin

mumat39 · 06/01/2013 13:02

Hi coco, your school sounds very understanding and it's lovely to hear that you all make such a huge effort o make sure he isn't exposed. Allergies are a PITA so I'm sure he and his family must be relieved to have found such a school.

Wow, re your jeans. That's brilliant. I've still got a pair of Gap jeans that I haven't worn for over 6 years so hopefully I'll get back into those one day.

Xxx

halfthesize · 06/01/2013 13:16

Morning all

My dinner party went very well everyone loved the food and most of it LC, though massively over indulged on the wine/bubbly front and boy my head knows about it today........ Am on my 7th pint of water as so dehydratedHmm

Just had big fry up, nothing beats itSmile

BigStickBIWI · 06/01/2013 13:19

Brilliant news, cocolepew. Getting them on and standing up in them is good, but being able to sit down is even better Grin

Well since my big 5lb in three day loss, I've lost nothing over the past two days at all. I'm taking this as a sign I need to join a gym, which I am off to do later this afternoon Smile

This morning has been hard and I've got major carb cravings. DH has been making toast and marmalade for himself, which was hard for me to see and smell. I gritted my teeth and ate 4 slices of chicken to fill me up though.

I find a quick read of this thread re-motivates me when I start feeling pissed off with myself Grin

Xenia · 06/01/2013 13:54

If the Ladvia video is the one I think it is definitely worth watching. This is a way to eat for life. It takes just 2 weeks to break a habit and 6 weeks to set a new one.

NoveltySlippers · 06/01/2013 13:54

Thanks Timid for clarification re. American/MFP carb counts!

Love the new name BIWI Smile

BigStickBIWI · 06/01/2013 14:03

Ah yes, Novelty, just flexing my muscles ready for tomorrow ... Wink

PrincessSparkle86 · 06/01/2013 14:07

littlemissstan · 06/01/2013 14:08

Another jeans goal over here - they haven't fit me now for about 5 years but determined to wear them again!

Feeling pretty good after going to a birthday party last night and only drinking fizzy water and eating just the cocktail sausages and a few peanuts from the super-breaded and pastry heavy buffet... Boiled egg this morning and just had egg mayo and bacon rolled up in lettuce leaves which was yum. And a treat of rump steak tonight!

I will put into the spreadsheet tomorrow I think as want it to have a proper start date of Monday so can measure properly week by week :)

PrincessSparkle86 · 06/01/2013 14:08

Sorry about the poor spelling!

FrankWippery · 06/01/2013 14:25

Just signing in. BIWI and Pistey have shoved the thread under my nose so here I am. Being new to this and totally clueless, perhaps some kind of rundown might be handy if someone doesn't mind. And the spreadsheet? What, when, where, how.

TooImmatureMincePies · 06/01/2013 14:27

Lunch was ham and broccoli soup, mmm! Off to start the bolognese sauce for courgette lasagne now.

cathyandclaire · 06/01/2013 14:27

Thanks for posting that video, totally inspiring!

Rooobs · 06/01/2013 14:28

Hi all,

Day 5 and 3lbs down now Smile

Am grumpy though as baby is not herself and there was a lot of crying in the night.

Breakfast was a ham and tomato omlette (made by low fat diet Hmm DP so it was distinctly lacking in CHEESEY GOODNESS)

Lunch was belly pork and cauliflower cheese which made up for it.

No idea what's for tea. It could be belly pork again.

hmph.

Ciao for now.

Lavenderhoney · 06/01/2013 14:37

Starting tomorrow. Did big shop today and bought all the right stuff. Bought new scales so slightly concerned am heavier than I thought. Will update the spreadsheet tonight. I am having a last blast with a glass or two of wine first though.

I used to be skinny without trying and that was on my bum all day in an office, so how I have got to this size with 2 small energetic children and on my feet all day I don't know...

Trying2bMindful · 06/01/2013 15:05

Oh gawd. Am so not ready for tomorrow. Flight back home delayed. Delayed with a baby is no fun. Especially when he desperately needs a nap ...... & I have a hangover!!!
So what am I going to do about tomorrow?! No food in the house suitable for LC. I might have to start at lunchtime!!!Blush. Would that be so bad?
Btw does anyone know when I can start having porridge again? I usually share it with PFB as we are doing blw. Will be such a hassle to make him one thing & me another every morning [lazy parent icon]

Trying2bMindful · 06/01/2013 15:06

Oh & does anyone have a shopping list of suggested food for the first week?!

JulesJules · 06/01/2013 15:12

OK, I'm still half in! I think the first two weeks are going to be v difficult as a vegetarian - especially as I don't like eggs - the occasional cheese omelette or bit of egg mayo is about as far as I want to go with eggs. I'm not used to drinking a lot of water either - found it easier to get down in the morning with berocca in it.

I think this means I'm going to have to have a bit more cheese and yoghurt than is probably ideal. I also bought some Quorn "ham" which I'd never tried before. Is this a terrible idea? Obvs it is processed and I'm sure I've seen somewhere that Quorn was bad for some reason?

Anyway, it makes a good breakfast rolled up with a slice of Jarlsberg with watercress in the middle, so yummy I had two and wasn't hungry all morning. Grin

Any other vegetarians with suggestions?
