Here's a recipe I put on the recipe thread a while ago. It was to stuff cabbage leaves with, but no reason why you couldn't do it in lettuce as well.

Oriental stuffed cabbage parcels

I made this up tonight, and it was yummy. This quantity will make enough for 4 generous portions. Will try and be as precise as I can about measurements:

1 large savoy cabbage (or 2 smaller ones)

1 pack 4 pork steaks (currently on offer at Sainsbury - the fatty ones), cut into small dice
1 tin water chestnuts, chopped
1 green chilli, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 inch piece fresh ginger, finely chopped
1 large spring onion or 2 ordinary sized ones, sliced
4 baby sweetcorn, sliced
4 mushrooms, finely chopped
packet fresh coriander, finely chopped

light soy sauce (a good quality brand like Kikkoman)
2 teaspoons Chinese 5 Spice powder
black pepper
sesame oil

Put the meat and the vegetables (not the cabbage!) into a large plastic/Tupperware box. Sprinkle with the Chinese 5 Spice powder, then add a generous sloosh of soy sauce and sesame oil. (I'm guessing at least 4 tablespoons of each) and season with black pepper. (Don't add any salt - the soy is salty enough). Leave to marinade for at least half an hour.

Heat a wok until it is very hot, then tip the meat mixture in and stir fry for about 5 minutes, until the meat is no longer pink. Leave to cool

Then prepare the cabbage - cut the stalk end off, and peel away the leaves. Cut away the bottom part of the tough stalk - this will make a sort of V-shaped cut up the centre of each leaf. You will need 2-3 leaves per person, and they need to be a reasonably decent size, hence why you may need 2 cabbages. Blanch the leaves for 2 minutes, then drain and leave to cool.

When everything is cool enough to handle, stuff the leaves with the meat mixture and put the rolled up parcels into a steamer. Steam for 10 minutes.

Serve with shiratake noodles shop.waiyeehong.com/food-ingredients/noodles/other-noodles/konnyaku-hot-pot-yam-noodles

Little Gem leaves will be too small to really get much filling in, Princess - although you could use them.

I've been just generally low carbing since Wednesday, rather than Bootcamping, and am recognising that by getting stuck into a gin and tonic now!

Just over 2 litres of water, planning on another int now and then will lay off til morning or else I pee all night - and once I am woken in the night I cant get back to sleep :(

thenightsky · 04/01/2013 18:32

Wow Shock

Only 3 days in and I've shed 5lb Shock

On old style calorie counting at 1000 calories I'd be lucky to lose 5lb in three weeks, never mind days!

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/01/2013 18:37

thenight well done! thats fab!!

halfthesize · 04/01/2013 18:41

well done thenight

GreenyEyes · 04/01/2013 18:44

Well done thenightsky!

Thanks Mulledwine for those recipes Thanks

I am so ashamed. I've had a Matchmaker Sad

And pretty fed up, I tried the cauliflower crust pizza tonight which looked absolutely gorgeous but I really didn't like

thenightsky · 04/01/2013 18:53

I have stuck to it rigidly though. Friday night is curry night here and I'm just have the chicken chunks - no rice, extras and minimal sauce.

Just poured myself a small vodka and slimline tonic and, OMG, that tonic tastes sooooo sweet! Yuk.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 18:56

GreenEyes - one Matchmaker isn't going to be that bad!

thenightsky - that's fantastic! Proves it's worth sticking to it, doesn't it? Enjoy the vodka, as there won't be any from next week, will there?

GreenyEyes · 04/01/2013 19:03

Don't tell me that BIWI, or I'll be having another before we know it

cocolepew · 04/01/2013 19:17

Well done thenightsky!

thenightsky · 04/01/2013 19:18

Can't I just have a voddie on a weekend? Pleeeese.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 19:20
DharmaBumpkin · 04/01/2013 19:25

Gibbsgirl soya milk is definitely low carb as long as you get unsweetened! My long life organic milk from Asda is only 0.4g per 100.

anewdispensation · 04/01/2013 19:41

Hi all. Day 3 and I am much better. I woke up this money with a stonking headache and some shakes. Had some Greek Yoghurt for breakfast and I had to lie down afterwards. Sugar addiction is bad.. I felt like I was dying but felt better around noon.

Lunch- Ham sandwich with a handful of grated cheese with Lettuce wrap. Obv the Lettuce served as the bread and it was very yummy and filling.

Dinner- Fried pork chop in butter, with mushroom sauce and grated cheese.

Snacks- Slices of cucumber.

On the positive side, I weighed myself again this morning and I have lost a further 2lbs making 5 lbs so far since I started.

I just hope I start to feel better soon in the mornings.

LucyVFood · 04/01/2013 19:52

Hi everyone - some brilliant results already! Well done.

For dinner I had pork chops with oregano and broccoli and savoy cabbage with a creme fraiche and stilton sauce. It was beautiful. I would NEVER have cooked like that on a normal diet and I still can't quite believe it but wow. Gorgeous. So much so that, because I was eating alone, I tipped the plate up to catch the last bit of sauce Blush

I still have calorie conditioning though, and now feel guilty. Scales will be bought tomorrow!

GibbsGirl · 04/01/2013 19:58

Thanks for the replies on soya milk, that's great news. Only like the unsweetened and tend to buy supermarket own as prefer it

thenightsky · 04/01/2013 20:00

LucyVFood I know what you mean about 'calorie condition'... I panic about all the high cal stuff I'm consuming sometimes.

GibbsGirl · 04/01/2013 20:00

Even though I haven't started yet all the results are making me feek really positive. Will weigh in on Monday. Have already copeied and pasted all the rules to my desktop...

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 20:11

Anew disposition- well done so far. Make sure you take painkillers if you had a headache and try Bovril or electrolyte replacement sachets if shaking

anewdispensation · 04/01/2013 20:14

Thanks Mulledwine. stupid question but what is bovril?
