To continue chatting and preparing for the official start on 7th.

Rules and veg info can be found on the tabs on the old spreadsheet here.

OK.....am completely new to this (being a WW failure and always counting points!)

What do I need to know?

What can I eat for breakfast?

Where is the list of what I can eat?

And cream and cheese is good???? Confused

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/01/2013 17:09

Mumat stay here you'll be all organised soon! Put everything face down in dishwasher only light things/plastics might flip. I am going to set you a challenge that by the end of bootcamp you give us a delicious low carb curry/Indian recipe! I bet you have loads locked away in your head that a little tweak would make perfect for us! What do you reckon, you have 10 weeks!!!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/01/2013 17:13

Thanks for cheese sauce ideas. I like the bung it in the microwave one Grin

I'm eating chicken fried in butter and Lazy chilie with a beansprout stirfry. It's bloody lovely.

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 17:20

Ruprekt - have just messaged you back.
All the rules are in the spreadsheet in the OP as well as the allowed veg.

Bootcamp is to break your sugar addiction hence why it is strict for two weeks.

Ok I have to fess up - I have had a chocolate.
It was mindless - DC were eating one as we had visitors and sharing them out to get rid of the damn things
I popped one in without thinking - AND I DIDN'T LIKE IT
Far too sweet and yukky.

We are on a roll ladies - I'm so over the chocolate thing after Christmas debacle.

Lamb stew for tea with brussel sprouts I think.
Just need to find something that DH will eat with it - baked potato maybe then am sorted.

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 17:22

meal planner
This is a link on the MN site to a blank meal planner that you can use and print off.

Good luck and keep posting.
It sounds like it has been horrific for you - DH has allergies which we work round but he is an adult. BF has children with allergies so I have some empathy with you and know how bad it has been for her. It CAN get better and you can enjoy food again

GibbsGirl · 04/01/2013 17:26

Have been lurking, but inspired to join, so adding myself to the list.

Have a question about soya I've been dairy free for ages as milk/cream/cheese make me feel ill (weirdly cooked butter doesn't), but is soya OK on this WOE? Use it in tea as well as sauces. Thanks

Ruprekt - welcome!

What do you need to know? Well, the best thing to do is to look at this thread . Admittedly it is very long (!), but all the key information you need will be found there.

[[https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0 Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness that the lovely WillieWaggler masterminds for us - it's from the last Bootcamp, but if you look at the tabs at the bottom you will find the rules of Bootcamp, as well as the list of allowed veg ]

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 17:35

Ah. Double link fail!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/01/2013 17:35

Help!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/01/2013 17:36

Just found out we are going for Chinese nosh tonight, I am doing so well, on Boot Camp and back in ketosis (pretty sure I am ) What on earth can I have?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/01/2013 17:37

Glass of water?

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 17:38

GibbsGirl - I don't know much about soya, and I assume you mean soya milk? If so, Alpro is 2.8g carbs per 100 ml, compared with 5g for Sainsbury's semi skimmed milk, so it much lower in carbs.

halfthesize · 04/01/2013 17:39

Eve all and wow so many newbies.

fantastic idea re underlining questions to highlightSmile and really loving the name change ideas MrsHP for winegless.

I have had an ok day, busy all day which always helps. Really need to get water intake back to what it was, as very low at the momentHmm

Whats wrong PisteConfused

LucyVFood · 04/01/2013 17:42

Duck? Stir fried broccoli?

halfthesize · 04/01/2013 17:43

just read piste water sounds about right for a chinese, we went the other week and they had nothing for meSad

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 17:43

Pistey - Chinese is a bit of a problem with low carb.
Is it an all you can eat buffet type thing? Or will you have to choose actual meals?
Duck pancakes without the pancakes is Ok.
Blackbean sauce is probably lowish carb

Good luck

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 17:44

Pistey - if we go for a Chinese, one of the things I go for is lettuce wraps - usually a mixture of pork/mushrooms and veg, with some hoisin sauce (which you should really try and avoid if you have more willpower than me), which will come with a pile of iceberg lettuce leaves for you to wrap it in.

Sometimes they have dry spare-ribs on the menu, which I presume are going to be a lot better than those coated in sweet, gloopy sauce

Obviously avoid anything in batter/sweet sauces; sizzling dishes tend to be good, as they rely on the sizzling for most of the flavour and tend to have a bit less sauce (although obviously this is hugely variable according to the restaurant).

Instead of rice/noodles, I look at what veg they have - if they can do you stir-fried beansprouts that is a good alternative; ours does stir-fried celery and waterchestnuts, which is yummy.

Ultimately, though, I think you just have to accept that it's going to be a carbier than you would prefer meal.

And we don't start properly till Monday, so you have the weekend to get it out of your system!

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/01/2013 17:44

Evening all.. Thought i'd have a read of the thread, there's sooo many posts!

Is anyone else bootcamping already or am i on my own?

We did the food shop this afternoon so i've got some goodies now :D, I've roasted chicken drumsticks in italian herbs, boiled some, eggs and got bits to make a chicken stew...I'm sorted! Oh ad i bought some celery so i thought i'd grate some cheddar inside and maybe wrap in salami?!

Not much eaten today :-\ Late lunch- small portion of broccoli cheese ( made the cheese sauce)
Dinner- Prawns, bacon and mushrooms fried in chilli flakes and jerk seasoning on a mixed leaf and cucumber salad with 1 chopped slice of salami Smile

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/01/2013 17:46

BIWI Those lettuce wraps sound yummy... i wonder if i could make those at home for a snack...what fillings would be yummy?!

halfthesize · 04/01/2013 17:48

princess Im not bootcamping till Monday as am hosting a dinner party on Saturday eve.Wink that dinner sounds yummy..

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 17:48

Any sandwich fillings would work, Princess - but needs to be iceberg lettuce or possibly something like Romaine, as they have the firmest leaves

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/01/2013 18:06

Half enjoy the dinner party :)
BIWI I just bought 2 bags of little gem :( I suppose tho i could still put fillings in the leaves! when i've ran out i'll buy some iceberg!
